I went in to Moon Valley Nurseries right after Memorial Day - I only spent approx. 5k on trees and ficus bushes (6), however coupled with all the warranties and MVP Arborist three times a year. I ask Patrick straight up is the summer months a good time to plant any trees or bushes as I have heard it was not and should I wait - he advised that wasn't true and no need to wait, just make sure to water. I am sure no one thought the month of July would be mostly 118 degree days. I went ahead with the purchase, but leery. I managed to barely keep the ficus bushes alive because they were up against the block wall, which emitted an huge amount of heat. I walked into the Tatum Store to see if there was something else I could do other than water, moon juice, etc., and showed a picture. Patrick advised that another person, bought 60 and they looked worse then mine and handed me a free Moon Juice, I guess now in hind sight to shut me up when I was only looking for further instruction. The Jacaranda that I purchased kept dying, I water religiously 25 gallons a day on all the trees and approx. 5 gallons on the trees, can be proven by my water bill, my bad should have waited, but I am not in the tree business. So now I have a dead Jacaranda Tree in my front yard that looks awesome. September 1, 2023, I decided to go over to the Tatum Nursery and talk to them about my Jacaranda tree, Patrick was unavailable and some other man said ok lets go look at replacement tress. My friend stayed behind in the office, but I proceeded out with the young man, who never identified himself. As we proceeded to go to the trees, he told me he didn't understand why I do not wait two more months to get the tree because this second tree will just go into transplant shock like the other one and lose all of its leaves and die. I said what do you mean and he advised that it is to hot and the new tree would just die as well. I ask why I was not told that before I bought my trees and said never mind, grabbed my friend and we left. I was shocked but pissed as I have a dead tree in my front yard. I went to the 7th Street Moon Valley as I couldn't believe what I was hearing and upset. The guy sitting by the door when I explained what transpired said that is not true. Donna a Supervisor/Manager came out and talked briefly, she said she did not have the Jacaranda in the multi trunk in stock but when they come in she will let me know. I advised her that I purchased the MVP and Replacement Warranty. The trees were in transit the Friday before and she would let me know. This is where I am at, a dead tree in my front yard, a Replacement Warranty that is useless, probably the MVP deal as well. Half dead Ficus bushes, no call from a manager from Tatum, no call from a General Manager and no contact with Donna. I feel horrible for my friends that I referred to Moon Valley as they have all listened to me talk about the situation and are shocked. My sister who has purchased numerous trees is just shaking her head and has now gone to Whitfield Nursery for her purchases. My Friends referred are horrified that their trees might die. I talked to Whitfield Nursery this weekend and I guess I will need to purchase another tree from them and just let this go - no matter what you do now days there is no answer, just a money grab. I do not normally right these types of reviews as a business owner, but I would never treat any client of mine this way. I really wish I had never bought these trees and waited to purchase from another nursery - this is horrific. read more

Ive been a customer of Moon Valley (east mesa) for almost 20 years, theyve always been great! Its been about 10-15 years since ive been there (my trees and shrubs are still in great shape) I stopped in recently to purchase a pygmy date palm and had the pleasure of speaking to "Will" (on the phone) he spoke to me as if i was a relative and treating me the same when i went into the nursery. A few other employees i came in contact with were also just as friendly and professional as Will was. The Moon Nursery team did an amazing job! Ceaser, delivered and planted my tree, he went above and beyond taking extra measures to ensure my tree was planted. He called prior to arrival to inform me he was on his way. In addition, he sent photos, went over instructions, and provided excellent customer service and the tree looks great! William, and Abraham, did a great job assisting me with tree selection, sent a diagram where the tree should be planted, and providing recommendations! I reside out of state, therefore, it was very helpful to receive recommendations, see photos of the trees to make a tree decision and they provided great customer service! read more

Went there for fertilizer and help with sick queen palms. Couldn't find anybody outside and the people inside were all busy in an office. The only "Super palm juice" I found was covered in dirt and the label was peeling off. Oh well, if nobody wants to help here on to another nursery. Edit: The owner messaged me offering to help. That shows they do care, I may have got them at a bad time, but it still cost a sale. I'll give them credit for reaching out and try them again next time I'm in need. read more

We were able to meet him on site at the nursery in Mesa and he walked us through picking out and planning our project-with so much great knowledge on how to bring our vision to life. Another great experience with Moon Valley Nurseries in Mesa. I came to purchase a tangelo orange tree and Alex Greey welcomed me and took me to the orange trees. I had a lot of questions as this is my first orange tree and he was so polite and patient in answeriing and showing me those in my price range. I chose one but forgot to take a picture of it, and he turned the cart around to go back to accommodate me. Did i mention i was buying myself a tree for my birthday and he pulled some strings so it would be planted the day before? The crew that came and planted the tree and it was quick, professional, and looked beautiful and answered watering questions for me. I've had it now for a few weeks and noticed that my little tree had some curling leaves, so i sent a text message with pics to Alex and alas, i was probably watering a bit too much and that it also may be under a bit of stress from the high temps.. He suggested I stop by and pick up some Moonjuice for it and cut back a bit on watering. I stopped in today and was greeted by Patrick McCoy who agreed with the diagnosis. I started to pay, and he said Nope....and gave me a complimentary Moonjuice. Alex also popped out tp say hi.. Is anyone there not nice?!? Big props and shout out to William Honohan at the McKellips location in Mesa. Today, Sunday, I arrived at 5:05 p.m. and noticed one of the workers walking to his car. As I walked toward the entrance I asked if they were closed and he said, "Yes, what did you need." I told him and he said, "come on in, we can get that for you." He turned around and returned to the office to provide me with the plants I was seeking, gave me a discount, and picked out premium flowering plants for me and brought them to my car. Extraordinary customer service like this makes an indelible impression. William could have easily said, "We open tomorrow at 7," and I would have understood. They had a good variety of plants, but definitely not on par with one of the other local nurseries that we went to see. She was very friendly on the phone and just as nice when I arrived to look. Her staff member Bart was very helpful in showing me the many options for my needs. The nursery is immaculate and the huge selection and value for the high quality of the plants makes this business one to visit. The planting and delivery process was the only hiccup but was handled professionally and apologetically. So if you're looking for a quality Christmas tree, you gotta go to Moon Valley Nursery's Christmas tree lot. They have a great selection of Noble fir trees in all sizes for competitive prices. I wondered how the trees could be kept so fresh and found out that as soon as they are received, a fresh cut is made to the bottom of the tree and it is placed in a water filled stand. All the trees are watered throughout the day so that they will stay fresh and fragrant. Jordan and his team are very helpful with loading and I found out that, if I needed, they would deliver it to my home or business for a small fee. read more

Moonvalley nursery has done an excellent job for us here in Ahwatukee. Our sales person, Brandon, at the nursery, did a great job of helping us select just the right Mediterranean fan palm to fit our needs. The removal of a large mesquite tree was handled in two stages. One crew came, and did the cutting and removal. Well, a second crew came on another day and did the stump removal. Everything was handled in a timely fashion and professionally. Finally, manager, Chad helped us move up the installation date which is greatly appreciated. All in all, we are very happy with the job that Moonvalley did for us and would give them a five star review and hire recommendations or anyone else who needs landscape work done. read more

I bought & picked out several plants, when they came out a couple weeks later to plant them 2 plants where beaten up & bruised & 1 plant was wrong one. When I called to complain, left message but didn't get call back, went back up to moon valley & talked to manager, picked out 3 replacement plants. When they came back out to replace one of there workers steps on a plant that I personally just planted a few days ago & didn't even have courtesy to tell me. Now I'm waiting to get that plant replaced. This has been 3 weeks of screw ups & 3 trips to nursery to get front yard done. They charge a lot for there plants but there service sucks. We're determined to create a backyard oasis of citris trees and other pet friendly plants. I was very sure we'd found the right place when we arrived and I saw the wonderful rows upon rows of trees with the lush feeling if a greenery escape. Michael greeted us as soon as we walked up. Michael listened patiently to our likes and what we thought we might be looking for then took us back in the golf cart to the citris trees about the size we wanted.
