We used them for two jobs and both weren't completed 100%. Higher prices would suggest a higher level of customer service and better attention to detail. But what we got was the first job wasn't completed and second job was messy at completion and not completed 100%. We received a small credit on the second job for work not completed but still feel less than satisfied. We have since hired another contractor to finish the work. read more

This business is run my a smooth salesman named Jamie Thorley. He quoted a job an did not complete it as described in his own writing. This person has NO BUSINESS laying fresh landscape. I asked for NATURAL DESERT, he laid green slate rock (it is pretty but no choices were given and its nothing you would find in the desert) then tried to get me to lay grass and plant palm trees. The drip system has failed and all most of the plants are dead. He also said he would lay fabric but according to him I'm an idiot because he claims he told me he wasn't laying it all over the yard which I was under the impression he was. TOTAL FAIL! Julie's communication is first class and they even use an automated system for emails, text messages, etc. which are actually great! She stayed on me as far as scheduling a visit and we made it work. Her and her husband, Jamie, both visited our home on a Sunday which my wife and I very much appreciated. The estimate came in significantly higher than our discussed budget, in which Julie and Jamie were able to widdle down, but we couldn't get to our budgeted (or close to it) number - which I appreciate them trying to do. Thus, I can't speak to their actual service and/or end result(s), but everything leading up to an estimate was on par. read more

STAY AWAY! I mean literally run from this house of horrors. I can say this was one of the worst experiences with a contractor I've had. We spent hours going over what we wanted done for our yard. We were provided a couple estimates with 50% down and 50% on completion. When we went to sign the contract we were presented with 75% down. and 25% on completion. When I asked them about it I was told they did not want to do the project anymore. Again. RUN! read more

The Yard Stylist completed a total remodel of our backyard and did a wonderful job! They installed 1700 square feet of travertine, a pergola, stone fire pit and sitting wall as well as trellis, plants and rock. We stayed on schedule, on budget and they were extremely flexible throughout the project which was very much appreciated. I had plans of what I wanted, but after consulting with Jaime and Julie we went in a completely different direction based on their experience and couldn't be happier with the results. We recently contacted this company to get an estimate on a new landscaping job at a new house we are building. We emailed back and forth and set up an appointment at our new home with a date and time and thought we had it all set up. They never called or showed up for the appointment and we have not been contacted since. Let me start out by saying if you are looking to pay a premium price for landscaping and get less than average work done this is the company for you. Nevermind what you are quoted they will find a way to add charge on for you. Here are some examples of what I experienced. instead of using a trencher to dig a trench for irrigation they use a jackhammer, instead of cutting out pre-existing pvc they go right on top of it ( I hope I don't step there I will break the line), instead of burying your irrigation about a foot down they will go around 3 inch's. Worst experience I have ever had! It all started when the salesman Jamie showed up for our first meeting and was a very respectful person after getting a few bids I actually chose him because of his personality. We had a second meeting and went over exact things and they gave me a quote. I also put down at 50% refundable deposit. As soon as that deposit was received everything changed he kept pushing our install date further and further back and it was impossible to get them to my house to go over exact measurements and everything. Eventually my wife told him there was no way they can push off any further it must be done the Friday before Father's Day. I finally was able to get them to come out here because I told him the measurements for the fake grass was wrong which they were he measured for the pavers again and now that the grass was going down in price all of a sudden the price went up for the pavers a couple hundred dollars which I was okay with. A week later he showed up to start the job on Monday never informing me, the person who was actually home when he was there that the price went up $2,700 over his final quote with the new paver adjustments. When my wife finally saw the email he sent that morning she called me and I went directly to him explain to him that I would not pay that difference and he walked off site leaving my front yard, which he was not doing, with no drip system and of course now we are unable to have the party we were going to have in our backyard for Father's Day he was aware that was going to be an issue and was banking on the fact that we were just going to give him the money to do it. I would not recommend this company to anybody. One of the worst experiences of my life! read more

We were looking to hire one landscape company that could come in and do everything we wanted in our backyard at one time so that we didn't have to be our own General Contractor and hire multiple companies and deal with all the scheduling ourselves. After doing a good amount of research and getting multiple quotes, we chose The Yard Stylist to be that company. Jamie and Julie were great to work with and really conveyed themselves as professionals. We already had an idea of what we wanted and how we wanted it done. They just had to execute our plan. They don't work off plans or drawings, so I decided to provide them with a drawing just to make sure things were clear. Our scope of work was the following: Extend our existing travertine to create a grilling area, Cover the grilling area with a pergola, build a cinder block retaining wall behind our pool (to be covered with stone veneer at a later date by us), build a cinder block wall around our pool equipment (to be covered with stone veneer at a later date by us), install turf and fill in all other areas with gravel. Jamie came out a few days before the work was to start and we marked everything out according to the drawing and with my approval. Then the work started and everything went downhill. I was out of town for work when they started but I didn't see this as an issue as we had laid everything out and they had a drawing. After looking at pictures of the first day's progress I noticed that they didn't match up the pattern of the existing travertine. It was off by 6". I can only assume they did not start from the existing travertine when installing the new travertine and hoped it would line up. When I pointed this out, Jamie seemed unhappy that I wanted them to redo the travertine, so the pattern matched, and it looked correct. They completed the work minus the pergola over the next 3 days and it was "done" when I got home Friday evening. I immediately went out and began inspecting the work. They corrected the travertine so that the pattern matched, however; the travertine did not go as far back as it was supposed to. It was to be 3 feet off the back wall and it was almost 5 feet away. The size of pergola we had wouldn't even have fit over the grilling area because of the travertine being 2 feet less than it was supposed to be. The retaining wall behind our pool had one end that returned to the back wall at a 90-degree angle while the other end veered off at a complete different angle. The turf was a complete disaster. It wasn't cut to fit up against the travertine correctly and they literally tried to stick small pieces in to make it look like it did fit correctly. It wasn't nailed down on the edges or seams correctly, so you could literally pull it up in multiple places. It had been down for several hours and our dog had peed on it by that time. Everywhere the dog had peed it stained the turf. Jamie came over Saturday morning and I went over each of these issues with him and he assured me they would take care of everything. The crew came back out the following week and they removed the turf (with the plan of putting down a different turf), moved the travertine back an extra 2 feet (the way it should have been the first time) and "attempt" to fix the retaining wall. The travertine is less than 3 feet off the back wall now because they put down full size pieces instead of cutting the last row so that it landed where I wanted it to be. We accepted this as it was rather than have them try to fix it a third time.... They attempted to add on to the front of the cinder block wall to make it "look" like it went back at the same 90-degree angle as the other end. It didn't and now it looks worse than it did originally. Their response was "I guess we can't build the wall they way you want, so we'll just give you your money back for the wall." Following their attempt to fix the retaining wall they installed the gravel. During this time one of the bump-outs below our windows in an area where they put gravel down was damaged and they attempted a repair on that also. They claim they didn't do it, but it wasn't damaged before they were there and who else would have done it and tried to repair it? Since they had mortar mixed from working on the wall, I'm sure they used it to try and repair the damage. It was at this point that I told them I didn't even want them to put down new turf because I didn't believe they could do it correctly. I just wanted them to put up the pergola and we would call their contract complete. The pergola went up correctly (because it was done by someone else, not The Yard Stylist) and we have since gotten another company to put down turf that fits correct and doesn't stain with dog urine. Now we are stuck dealing with the retaining wall which is going to have to be completely rebuilt. I would be more than happy to speak to or provide photos to anyone who is considering using The Yard Stylist. DEFINITELY would not recommend them to anyone! read more

Not a great experience at all. They showed up late for our appointment and very short and quick to interrupt anything we were trying to tell them regarding our backyard. No measuring was done for any of the projects we wanted so not sure how they would have been able to give us a quote. It was quite obvious from the beginning that they did not want to be there which is a very disappointing way to treat somebody who invited you into their home to possibly give you their business. Would never recommend and would advise against using this company as there are far better options out there. read more
