Well! We still can't believe our front yard looks so beautiful and natural! Could not have done it without the help of Isaac Gamboa, who met me on my first trip to Moon Valley on Indian School Road and showed me so many possibilities....trees of all sorts! Wonderful agave and other succulents, cacti, shrubs.....an amazing selection of beautiful healthy plants just waiting to go to a new home. I knew we wanted a natural desert look but didn't know what was available till Isaac showed me: as we toured the nursery my rather vague ideas began to shape up, and it wasn't long before I was choosing three of this and two of that and perhaps five of those, just like a kid in a candy store. Back at home I spent hours drawing out plans, and two days later went back to Moon Valley to meet with Isaac again. Some of my first choices were dropped off and new plants were added, with Isaac being unfailingly patient and helpful.....in fact I repeated the process three times, adding a few more plants each time until the plan looked complete. Both Isaac and Mark Iusi came out to our house to help with the plans and offer suggestions. When planting day, October 11, finally arrived, I was in a state of high anxiety. It's one thing to do a landscape plan on paper, but another to see it unfold in reality! How would the yard look? I needn't have worried! Ben and his crew of planters arrived at 7:45 in the morning and worked tirelessly till a little after 2 in the afternoon, unloading, preparing, placing, DIGGING, planting , feeding, watering. These guys are unbelievably hard workers!!!! I stayed out there during the entire process, probably getting in their way but wanting to be sure things looked the way I wanted them to look. And they do! The yard looks wonderful, thanks to Moon! By the way, Isaac stopped by early on planting day to make sure all was in order, and again today to see the finished product. The ultimate compliment comes from my husband, who admits to having no interest in the yard before this.....now he's out there all the time, watering and checking on the new inhabitants! I also want to mention Travis Bothwell and Brandon Moore who were both very patient and helpful with all of my questions and worries. Last March we went to Moon Valley Nurseries, on McKellips, in Mesa. We were greeted immediately and were asked if we needed help. We explained our backyard and that we needed bushes and a fruit tree. The bushes were to block some of the west sun. As we were being led to the area he was asking us questions if we were in an HOA community if there were restrictions on the type of plants, trees, shrubberies so he could take us immediately to the ones we could purchase. What was great about this visit was that he spent the time we needed to learn about the shrubs we saw and fell in love with. We ended up buying those gorgeous trees and a fruit tree. They were quite busy with the delivery schedules, due to their high end nursery, and we agreed to wait until the date of delivery. Once the crew came we knew immediately that they were very professional and also planted the2 24 gallon hop-seed shrubs and also the tangerine tree. They left our backyard as clean as when they dug the holes and raked all the gravel back. They put support poles in and made the soil area wide enough for slow dripping watering. We did purchase the warranty because they were large shrubs and didn't want to take a chance in having a problem. The summer was brutally hot with temps over 110 for a few months and one of the hop-seed shrubs took a turn for the worse. It was dying and the other one was thriving as well as the fruit tree. We called Moon Valley and was told to come in immediately and to take pictures. We did and were told that it was indeed an extra hot summer. They gave us a container of liquid food for the shrub and gave us a instructions on what to do. They also guaranteed us that they would extend our warranty even after March to the hot weather and if the tree doesn't do well that they would replace it completely. Their concern for us felt rewarding. So far the liquid food has worked, even though it's been cold, and the beautiful purple leaves are gorgeous. Our family just moved here from Seattle and bought a two acre home in Mesa that needed a facelift for the back yard. We are beyond impressed with Moon Valley and their crew. The staff from start to finish far exceeded our expectations and these guys should be applauded for their professionalism and follow through. We have a large project going on and needed a company who knew how to handle every aspect and this was the most stress-free experience we have ever had with a nursery. Cesar, who could basically walk on water because he is such a great manager with an eye trained for detail, was very personable, friendly, and clearly an expert in his field. He made sure the landscape crew put everything in place to perfection. We bought various trees including citrus, and a very large Pineapple Palm and a nice big Hong Kong Orchid tree. Brandon, who arrived to place the larger trees, was fabulous! He drove the machinery with confidence and had everything done lickety-split! Oscar, Brandon, Jesus, and Frank jumped in and worked so quickly and efficiently and we were very pleased with the entire experience. I HIGHLY recommend this company if you want the best experience for turning your yard into an oasis or paradise as ours now is. They may be more expensive but you get what you pay for and they amended the soil, added fertilizers, and they guarantee their work and plants. Ask for Chad at the Mesa location because he was our sales guy and he worked patiently and diligently with us on our project and he even came by the house prior to the job to make sure the plants were being placed correctly. Recently I went to Moon Valley Nursery with my girlfriend who is an AZ. resident. I have never placed a negative review on YELP ever, but felt I had to tell any Arizona residents to stir clear of this place. As my GF is unclear of what plants costs, I decided to join her. It was a disaster from the start to the finish. Their customer service is horrific, but more importantly their prices are about 100% above retail. NO JOKE! Hence the reason they can spend huge funds on marketing. We decided to proceed with a purchase because we both signed up to be on their email marketing list and both received a $5 Gift Card! At checkout our $5 gift cards were denied because they did not apply to the specific plants we were purchasing which were both priced at $9.99. The gift card that I was given had no restrictions on it, but I guess they make exceptions when needed. Or if your spending thousands! Instead of arguing, I thankfully just left without purchasing anything. PLEASE do your research before buying anything from this nursery. Especially a major landscape. By reading my review will save you a substantial amount of money and you will be thankful. To the EXECUTIVES of Moon Valley-If you spend an astronomical amount of money on marketing, spend some money and time by hiring a staff that is pleasant and enthusiastic to work at your facilities. If your going to rip off people with your inflated pricing, at least make it a pleasant experience for anyone crazy enough to buy products and services from your facilities! read more

I recently bought a house that needed trees and landscaping. After doing research for various companies in the area, Moon Valley was an establishment that was on the list. Upon arriving at the business I was immediately struck by the selection that I was about to see. As I first entered the doors, I was immediately welcomed and was told that someone would be right there to help me. That someone turned out to be Abraham Pina. From the get go he has helped in every way possible. From observing the space to be landscaped, deciding what would work best, picking out the best specimens available, getting the best price possible, to coming to the location and making sure everything would still be adequate for the design planned. He was nothing but helpful, courteous, and understanding of what I was/am trying to do. Then came time for the planting. We scheduled a date and everything was set. I received reminder emails, texts and calls about the planting date and was given instructions on what to prepare for. The crew that came was awesome. They got everything planted, the place was left clean and they were gone in roughly an hour. My place looks great. I cant wait for the many years of enjoyment. I highly recommend Moon Valley for their service, knowledge, selection, and overall caring about the customer and the job. read more

Purchased from Moon Valley for the first time. Bought a 10' Desert Willow to replace 2 Palo Verde trees we started from seed. They were looking gnarly and not what we hoped for. Been growing them for almost two years now so it was difficult to think we were going back to a small tree again. I usually purchase small trees and just give them time, especially since I plant myself and have a whole yard to landscape. It gets costly. Arrived at Moon Valley and was greeted by Michael Slawinski. Told him which type of tree we were looking for. He showed us the selection available. The one we picked ended up being the most expensive tree we have ever purchased, but we wanted to make up for lost growing time. Because I wanted the tree ASAP, we scheduled delivery on a day when I couldn't be home but my adult sons were there. Jeff called with delivery details the day prior. On delivery day, I checked in with my sons who reported that the planting didn't take more than 10-15 minutes; they had a crew to plant. They texted me a photo and I was amazed at how gorgeous the tree looked. Just where I specified, positioned beautifully and the water ring was perfect. Very professional planting! Well worth the price paid. Looking forward to going back to Moon Valley really soon to pick more plants. read more

Our experience with Moon Valley Nursery Mesa was five stars from start to finish. Steven S, our designer at the nursery, listened to our tree needs (we have all gravel front/back yards) and thoroughly assisted us in picking the perfect trees. He was also very patient with our rambunctious 4 yo son as he explored the nursery (even let our son wipe off his muddy shoes on his shirt ha!). A slight overcharge error when he rang up our order was swiftly rectified with extra Moon Juice (their proprietary fertilizer). Install date arrived- Cesar J and Mike were super friendly and efficient. Cesar took a lot of progress pictures during install and spent a good 15-20 minutes post install answering all our questions about watering schedule, long term tree care, and even gave us ideas for future backyard shrubs plus tips on how to keep our existing queen palm tree healthy during our brutal Arizona summers. Some may argue that Moon Valley prices are higher than others- while we spent outside our initial budget, we felt that the high level of customer experience and staff professionalism was well worth it. Extremely disappointed. This was my second time using this nursery. Our landscapers recommended them for several of our projects. The first time, I had no complaints. They were helpful and I got what I wanted even though several of the plants died a month or so after planting (Arizona Summer?). This time I was extremely disappointed that the plants I ordered were all trimmed WAY down prior to my landscapers picking them up. Due to Covid, I did everything over the phone and the sales agent at the nursery even sent me pictures of these beautiful flowering shrubs. My landscapers went and picked them up and planted them before I was able to get outside to see that the plants they had planted had recently been hacked down to about a foot height and there was no sign of any flowers anywhere. I understand garden maintenance but this was very misleading and no one mentioned that the shrubs might be trimmed prior to pickup. When I called to discuss the issue, the girl was not very pleasant, talked over me to the point I just decided it wasn't worth arguing. I should've gone and picked them out and had them tag them for me (why they didn't initially is a mystery) I won't be using this nursery again even if I have to pay more somewhere else. read more

Just got our Christmas tree here yesterday! Loved the selection, they were all super fresh! The people working the lot were extremely helpful, friendly, and informative. They showed us many different options and offered the best prices. We bought a tree a little over 6.5ft and are super happy with it! I had seen a poor review on here stating a woman was offered a higher price than she was quoted previously, and decided to find a tree elsewhere. I was actually here when she came in-she is giving false information-and the manager actually offered her the previous price she was told and sent her on her way with a beautiful tree! She also stated her shoes got ruined by the water and her child had fallen. Anyone should know when Christmas tree shopping you should wear shoes you don't mind getting a little wet or dirty, these trees need to be watered continuously especially in this weather!! As for parents bringing children, keep them close to you because it looks like a forest in there, they will most likely trip if you let them run wild!!! I recommend to stop by here if you are looking for a real Christmas tree this holiday season!!! Customer service is great! And loved the Christmas spirit from employees! I usually don't write reviews, but we had such a great experience with Moon Valley Nurseries, I had to. Good customer service seems like it's hard to find these days, but not at this store. We made a few trips to the nursery to look around, figure out prices and what we wanted before we actually purchased. We had also looked at Home Depot. The quality of the trees there didn't even come close to the trees at Moon Valley. The first trip, we were helped by Rob. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and "no pressure to buy." We really appreciated how we were treated. I had called back and asked a few questions over the phone and got the info I needed. When we went back to make our purchase, Rob was with another customer, so we dealt with the manager Matt. We let him know what a great job Rob did. Matt was very friendly, helpful and took a lot of time showing us the trees we were looking for and answering our questions. We had them plant them and stake them as well. He gave us a break on that instead of charging the full amount, which we REALLY appreciated. When the guys came out to plant, they were on time, fast and cleaned everything up. There are a lot of companies that "state" they will honor their words and honor their guarantees, but it takes the team at each location to truly make this happen. I have been using Moon Valley Nurseries in Mesa since my wife and I moved from Gilbert. We have purchased and planted countless trees, shrubs and vines from Moon Valley over the past 2 years. Last year we bought 20 Euonymus bushes for a section of our front driveway. We had a few casualties and they replaced them without question or needing a return/proof of the dead and dying few bushes. The next five thrived through the end of summer and through winter, but summer hit again and all but 4 died. One note...this has been over a year now and they already honored the "company" policy. John Uselton, store manager in Mesa, listened to my story and immediately took care of me on all 20 plants. He gave me a more appropriate plant for the area and sun exposure and never once gave any thought about not making it right. This is what customer service and customer satisfaction is supposed to be like. As long as I am in the Mesa area I will always buy my nursery based products from Moon Valley and specifically John and his team! read more
