Off duty mocktail
Bethany B.

I had an incredible meal at Moon Bar tonight! I came in on the early side for dinner without a reservation, by myself. Was able to get a seat at the bar without any difficulty. I ordered the "off duty" mocktail, which was a delight. Served by a bartender who is completely charming in every way. For dinner, I ordered the green mango salad and the tandoori chicken. Both were stunning! Richly flavorful, spicy, a feast of textures! The chicken was so good that I did a little dance in my seat. Strenuously recommend checking this place out.

It should be no surprise, but Moon Bar's Restaurant Week menu is excellent!!! Don't be scared of the squid salad, the texture is meaty and not rubbery at all. The jerk chicken is maybe the juiciest chicken you'll ever have. And the Caribbean brownie is super simple but absolutely delicious. Also check out the Hood Cat special edition cocktail!!!

I am over the MOON with Moon Bar! If I could live here I would! :) Another excellent experience here and it just happened to be restaurant week. We also spent an hour at the King Tut exhibit across the street! This restaurant/bar always seems packed. And, with reservations for 645pm (highly recommend) the bar was quite busy. The buzz from this high-end cocktail bar is exactly what you want on a Friday evening; From girlfriends sipping their wine to couples laughing and swirling their cocktails, Moon Bar is for the classy and sexy. Abby our server is excellent! A mixologist who knows all the cocktails and can recommend based on your preference. I tried one of their new cocktails with bourbon and did not care for it. Abby made me my mezcal drink that I have ordered before...its the 305 cowboy, an extremely popular drink. A must try for sure! Note: Some bartenders make you feel guilty for saying something about a drink you ordered and did not like. But, here at Moon Bar, Abby was so gracious to make me something that I will enjoy. Hats off to her:) Food: Since it was restaurant week we just shared everything. For starters we ordered the Tuna Tartare that was excellent. Then, we had Piri-Piri Chicken Thighs that were also good but quite spicy. For dessert, we shared the Caribbean Tiramisu, which was great. It was a tough choice between this and the Guava Cheesecake. We were so full that we ended up bringing home leftovers. Oh, I also forgot to mention we always order their Curry Fries - a must try when coming here Trust Me. My husband doesn't love curry but he loves these fries and you will too. #friesaretodiefor Moon Bar, thanks for being amazing in every way. Thanks for your splendid service, crafty cocktails, delicious wine (try the Pinot Noir from Germany), and your amazing food ---Love those Curry Fries! "Alexa, make reservations for 2 at Moon Bar for tonight." Cheers~

What an amazing time we had a moon bar! The ambience was perfect for a girls night out and great wall art. All the drinks we got were delicious which I feel like is rare for a bar. The great palm and golden colada were my favorite. They were both sweet with a tangy aftertaste. The roasted cauliflower was very flavorful. It was heavy on the sauce which was great and loved the crunch of the cashews. The tandoori chicken was my favorite. It was very juicy and tender chicken marinated well. The curly fires had a great masala seasoning. The yogurt based was my favorite to dip into. The staff were excellent with frequent check in and quick service. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Cute spot for drinks! Very delicious drinks! Great service! Recommend the plantains if you're looking for a snack. Would 100% come back!

As Mooncusser's sibling restaurant, the food quality at Moon Bar doesn't disappoint. Their dishes are definitely more playful and adventurous. For their Restaurant Week menu, you receive an appetizer, entree and dessert for $55 - such an amazing deal. Favorites were definitely their Big Green Salad, Spiced Chicken & Key Lime Semifreddo. They were all so fun and delicious! Service was amazing too. Our waitress was hilarious, friendly, and checked in often to make sure we had a great time. 10/10 would recommend!

Moon Bar is a true gem! The staff was seriously amazing from the moment we walked in. Everyone we interacted with throughout our time there was kind, accommodating, and took time to explain/recommend things. Special thank you to Jake (the bartender) and the hostesses!! The layout is different than that of a typical restaurant; it's a large bar with lots of bar seating at the center, with smaller bar seating type tables facing the windows surrounding. There was also a coat check and a small standing area where we ordered drinks while waiting for seats to open up. The hosts even seat you at the bar, and there's a fun social vibe to the whole place. Once we got to the bar, the food, drinks, and service were incredible all around. My favorite dish was the chicken things (They were on the spicy side but delicious!) The banana leaf dish and beef patty were also standouts. And then, if you're sharing, the marinated halibut and the green mango salad were a great choice. For cocktails, Jake did an incredible job. My go-to is a Bees-Knees, which was awesome, as were all of the other drinks he recommended! Some other favs from the night were the "Corpse Reviver #2", the "Rome with a View", and a drink that I can't remember, but it was pink and made with Suyo Pisco. (See pictured.) I know this is a long review, but it was all so good that we came back twice on the same night! When visiting again, we will definitely be back. This was one of my favorite finds of all time. Shout out to the Boston Yelpers for helping us find it and to the amazing staff for the incredible experience.

Decided to visit Moon Bar to try out their restaurant week menu. I'm already a big fan of Mooncusser but I expected their cheaper menu items to be lacking but was pleasantly surprised by the amount of care put into each dish! The sauces came with a playful amount of heat that dances on your tongue but can still be enjoyed by people with a low spice tolerance. Service was excellent as our server was funny and beaming! Would definitely come back and see what the regular menu has to offer but for restaurant week the value can't be beat!

We love both Mooncusser and Moonbar. Moon Bar is the more casual option but it definitely delivers in quality and service. The small plates are so good, as are the cocktails. The relaxed ambiance is perfect for after work.

Amazingly yummy!!! Great bar vibe and the food is fantastic!! Tried two cocktails and both were the best drinks!! Two thumbs up!

Really good bold flavor food. Not too loud for a bar. Still have good conversation without losing our voice from shouting. Cozy modern ambiance. Service is good. Good came out quickly. Our favorite are short rib that fell off the bone. It's heavy so one or two pieces are enough. The spicy dishes are on the spicy side. Crudo was another one of our favorite. I like the plantain as well. The rest are still good. Drinks are very good. Creative and quite good.

Had a delicious early birthday dinner here!! Personally, I love spicy food, tropical vibes, & Caribbean/asian flavors so I knew I would love this spot. I requested to sit at the window seats and it was so cute. For food, we got the halibut with tostones, curry fries, Jamaican beef patty, and tandoori chicken. Everything was so flavorful! The halibut was probably my favorite. The golden colada drink was sweet, creamy, and refreshing. They also added a little bday candle to my dessert, which was a key lime pie with some mango on top!

We went to Moon Bar for dinner before a theater performance in the South End. Having dined at Mooncusser, we were very excited to try its highly-acclaimed tapas/bar location on the first floor. Top-line takeaway is Moon Bar is an excellent casual version of Mooncusser's upscale dining experience. The food and drinks are inventive, fresh, and thoughtfully curated. However, there were a few cons to our dining experience. First, the selection of dishes when we went were of higher than average spicy-ness. This wasn't entirely clear from the menu descriptions and as someone who doesn't love spicy foods, this definitely impacted the eating experience. Second, the window bar seats were oddly and uncomfortably structured -- the foot rests were way too far down while the window ledge was way too far up...definitely not ergonomic. It would also have been nice to have a hook or something to put bags. However, these certainly don't take away from the high caliber of Moon Bar's cuisine and we'll certainly consider returning in the future! Food: 1. Tuna escabeche (4.5/5) 2. Mahi Mahi ceviche (3/5) -- unexpectedly so spicy I couldn't taste the flavors 3. Fried sweet plantains (5/5) 4. Tandoori chicken thighs (4/5) -- perfectly cooked but way too spicy for me 5. Coconut tres leches cake (3.5/5)

We arrived for our whirlwind 1 day Boston day with a few things planned. The Wig Shop was a spot I had earmarked as a maybe. On the way to Boston by train from New York, I read an article of great bars in all of America, and the Wig Shop had made their list. I showed my gal as we were in route to Boston, and we agreed that Karma was leading us there. I checked about a reservation, but ended up going over early to try and beat the walk in crowd. That worked out great, we had almost no wait. The place was full. There were alot of people enjoying the food menu, which we didn't plan on since we had dinner reservations elsewhere for later. But we got a couple of drinks. There are many types of speakeasies. The Wig Shop is one of favorite kinds, classy. The drinks were alcohol forward, with elegant presentations. It was perfect. It was nice that the universe pointed us towards this great Boston spot.

First, let's talk AMBIANCE! The space is BEAUTIFUL! Think speakeasy vibes, intimate atmosphere, and plenty of spots to capture some gorgeous pictures. It's giving moody, stylish, and picture worthy! BUT, selfie queens and kings, let me put you on game! It is DARK in there, so if you want those food pics and selfies to come out just right, bring a portable flash. You want to capture the experience without your pictures looking like they were taken during a blackout! LOL. The ambiance is definitely part of the experience, so come ready to enjoy the vibe and get those pictures! Now, let's get into this FOOD! The five cheese mac au gratin was AMAZING! The cheesy goodness was everything I wanted it to be. Five cheeses? YES, PLEASE! This dish was a standout and absolutely worth talking about. Now, the snapper? BABYYYY! Flavorful does not even begin to describe it. That gravy was so good I was practically SLURPING IT LIKE SOUP! When the sauce is that delicious, you do not waste a drop. The snapper and that gravy were a beautiful combination, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The Djon Djon was not my personal favorite, but hubby enjoyed it, and that counts for something! We do not have to agree on every dish to appreciate a great dining experience. My taste buds had their preferences, and his had his! Overall, this was STILL a FIVE STAR MEAL AND EXPERIENCE! Between the beautiful ambiance, the delicious food, and the opportunity to experience what this chef is creating, it was a memorable visit. I genuinely cannot wait to see where this chef lands next! I love discovering talented chefs, supporting their craft, and watching their culinary journeys unfold. Black Cat Eatery, you have my attention, and I will absolutely be watching for what comes next!
