Excellent support, fair price, great owner. I needed Gary quickly this last week as I arrived at my parent's empty house which was cooling down from 85 (where I keep it when not there). At first, the system was cooling well for an energy inefficient house in this heat. Then, I noticed it wasn't. All appearances were that the old (and now expensive) R-22 gas had escaped thru a leak in the plumbing somewhere in this 27 YO system. I thought, this isn't going to end well! I left a VM with Gary at about 8 pm and Lori returned my call at 7:45 the next morning. Gary was on-site at 12:30. He evaluated the system and found "that she still had some life in her" & all that was needed was a replacement cap, a good cleaning, and ONLY a small amount of R-22 gas. Gary was pleased he could bring the system back up with only minor repairs when he quite justifiably could have recommended instead, a new system, which he did not. Gary effected the repairs and servicing in in about 1-1/2 hrs and his price was well within range for the parts & labor for diagnosing & repairing the aged system. I was quite pleased with all aspects of the engagement. read more

Gary Moody continues to take excellent care of our heating and air conditioning needs, and is so dependable. The unit we bought a few months ago is wonderful, and a good value for the money invested. Gary's prices for service, as well as a new unit, are reasonable and fair. read more

So grateful for their quick response when my AC went out last week! I had other service providers come the day before and it just felt like i was being oversold while in a bind. When a neighbor recommended Moody's, I figured it couldn't hurt to have them take a look. Gary communicated what he thought was going on like my uncle would and dind't try to scare into purchasing things I didn't need. I'd recommend them to anyone and will be calling them down the line for preventative service. read more

I love this company. Gary, Lori, and their team were fabulous to work with from the get-go. They are honest, affordable, efficient, and personable. I needed a new HVAC system at the end of last summer, and the immediately air quality and efficiency was improved in their one day installation. They left both inside and outside units and the surroundings perfectly neat. Gary also helped me get new covers for my vents. Mine were only 47 years old! Well worth the money spent for the aesthetics of my home. I highly recommend them. I am so relieved knowing that I have a reliable unit now! read more

Fast, polite service. Efficient and effective recommendations. We thought we needed a lot more work, but they advised otherwise. They were right. You definitely won't be upsold. We asked about getting a two speed system, which we thought was worth a try for our particular case. It worked great! It was a real pleasure doing business with them. We highly recommend Moody's! read more

Great service from great folks! I have only good things to say about Lori and Gary Moody. There's was the second quote I received about my air conditioner. And it was $3000 less than the first quote I got. But more than that Gary did a bit of service and assures me that there is no reason to replace my air conditioner at this time. These people will be my go to AC/heat folks forever. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Great! They are very responsive and reliable. They worked hard to make sure we were happy.

My elderly mother's air conditioner stopped working right before the weekend. Needless to say I was very worried for her health and safety. I called Moody's AC & Heating. What a great experience! They arrived on Friday; put a temp fix on the ancient system to last the weekend; then ordered/installed a new unit by Monday. The crew was very careful to maintain social distancing during this COVID pandemic. I am BEYOND pleased with their service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

I received service from Moody's for the second time this summer. Lori was spectacular and got someone out very quickly for me. Zach tried to fix the problem as they had the year before and it didn't work. My only option was to replace and he quickly gave me an estimate. They worked me in the next morning for a replacement- which I am very grateful for since it's 105! They were very quiet and courteous as they worked and cleaned up everything. Pretty sure my house was cleaner when they left! I highly recommend them! Thank you Lori, Zach, and team. read more

We just got a new HVAC system installed by Moody's AC & Heating, and I wanted to complement them on a job well done. This company is very professional and considerate. Lori, the office manager, is always kind and thorough. The owner, Mr. Moody, is very knowledgable and just a great guy overall. Zach and his coworkers who came out and installed our system were neat, friendly, efficient, and professional. I cannot say enough good things about this company and their employees. We have used them for decades now and the same has been true for every job they've ever done for us. I highly recommend them for your HVAC needs. read more

Gary and Lori installed our A/C in 2018 at a price way lower than anyone in Austin could offer. I was VERY happy with with quality of the work and the products they used. (Carrier) On Feb 14th, 2021 our heater went out as the great freeze started. Gary and Lori got out here as fast as they could and two days before any of the trucks you see around Austin were willing to come......even on emergency calls. They even talked me through the inspection to see if I could do it myself and they diagnosed what our furnace needed. Through facetime and videos, Gary was able to know the part he needed to fix it. The part was under warranty. He picked up the shop owner at their home, drove them to the store open it up, get what I needed, and then drove him back home. Before anyone else would be here, he diagnosed the issue, got the part, and showed up two days before household names were willing to be here. They are the absolute best, incredibly professional and honest. read more

Highly recommend. They did a repair last year that went smoothly. Had another issue this year and they walked me through a repair saving lots of money. Will definitely use for any future service. read more

We highly recommend Gary Moody! We have been using Moody's AC and heating for years and years. We should have given an outstanding review long before now! Gary does our semi-annual a/c & heating checks and he has installed a new air and furnace system for us. He is on time, efficient, his rates are very reasonable, and he is so great to talk to. Lori manages the office and she is always very pleasant and helpful. You can't go wrong using Moody's! read more

Great family owned business. Who knows what they're doing and does it right the first time.

I don't know how I have not done a review before because this place is the BEST! I started using them years ago and in that time they have replaced an old AC unit that failed, done my annual check ups on my system, and come over ASAP when I had a leak from a blown o-ring on my unit in my attic. I have called them in a panic and they have calmed me down, gotten the issue addressed and have always done a great job at a fair price. There isn't anyone else I would trust with my AC or heating needs! Can't recommend them enough! read more

Moody's HVAC - Bad experience. The blower motor for my HVAC air handling unit went out overnight. There was a Moody's sticker on the unit so I presumed they installed the unit and called them for the repair thinking they were likely to have the needed parts in stock. I left a message @5:00am and they called me back promptly upon opening. Very polite and professional and said they would put me first on the list for the day. So far so good. The technician arrived @9:00 and quickly confirmed the bearings in the fan motor had gone bad. Here is where the train jumped the tracks. We were told it would be $750 to fix the unit. I had already done my research and the motor should run no more than $150-$250 retail. Labor to install would be no more than 1 to 1-1/2 hours so $100-$150 tops. If you're googling the expected cost, it's a single speed fan and the HVAC unit is mounted in a closet on the main floor so easy access with no crawling around in a hot dusty attic. My numbers are accurate - $750 is robbery. When I asked how much of the cost was parts and how much was labor they refused to give the breakdown. My husband has been in commercial contracting for years and the only time somebody would refuse to do that is when they're trying to hide the fact that they're screwing you. They were told to leave immediately. We hired somebody from another firm the same day and they completed the repair by noon for $400 which is a fair and reasonable amount. I would never use Moody's, but if you decide to, use caution and get a second estimate. Edit, re Moody's response: First of all, the issue needed no analysis, we called you and told you the blower motor was out. *Taking out* the blower motor is not some massive undertaking. It took the next guy approximately 20 minutes to reseat and connect the wheel once the new motor was installed into it. As for being "kind" to your technician. Do you mean asking him to break down the cost and then being really irritated when he obfuscated on your behalf? Yeah, when someone like a plumber or a car mechanic or an AC tech is screwing you over because you as a layman are beholden to their services, it is annoying and makes you cranky. In our case, on anything mechanical or electrical my husband has the knowledge and can generally do the work himself, but when he chooses to farm it out so he can do his regular job it is just a matter of relying on paying a reasonable markup for parts and a reasonable price for labor. As it is, do you think a guy trained to hook up AC components should get as much as a board-certified surgeon, per hour? Or even a skilled car mechanic? Because you are charging just that. Why? Because you can, because most people don't have a choice but to rely on the "professionals." My husband wasn't there in person, *I* was, after having been up for 24 hours having done my own shift as a nurse for 12 hours and then caring for my mom for the following 12 after an accident, where I had to actively care for her until she got readmitted to the ER at 2am and then got safely to a room at 5am. There I was, tired as hell, NOT having the knowledge my husband has, but understanding very well when I'm being BS'd. I was NOT AMUSED. We didn't let you reconnect anything? That's right. My husband wanted you out of the house for two reasons: one, we aren't going to take up any more of your labor hours when we don't want to use you. Two, you had already established yourselves as dishonest - so goodbye, posthaste. You charge an $89 call fee, for diagnosis? Your colleague in BS, Precision Air, charges $65. Those crooks wouldn't tell me a price for the needed service/parts, either, without "coming out to the house." So basically you manipulate people on the principle of "sunk cost" and have zero transparency, putting a desperate homeowner in a bad position - just paying you whatever you demand once you do the work, no comparative estimates possible. You don't say, "Okay, when we get there if, as you say, the blower motor needs replaced, it will be $X for the part and is usually X hours of labor at $X per hour, but you understand if it takes longer or we find other problems, there will be additional costs involved." Both you and the service reps at Precision refused to give (retail!) prices for parts or a labor time/cost estimate. Lastly, I told your guy to let me know what we owe for service done so far (your $89 plus his time) and he refused. That's your problem. read more

Moody's Air Conditioning and Heating knows what Customer Service is all about. I had them replace an upstairs central unit last fall, and they did it on-time and on budget. Later, when I had an issue with another unit that they did not install, Gary got on the phone and talked me exactly through what to check and how to check it. He resolved the problem on the phone, without having to come to my house for a service charge. Later, when my thermostat went blank, I sent them an email and Lori called me back within 5 minutes. Again, Gary got on the phone, and they talked me through 2 or 3 things to check, which I did. From what we did on the phone, Gary determined that the thermostat had gone bad. He brought a new one and installed it, with no charge since it was under warranty. I'm so glad my neighbor recommended them to me last fall. They know how to treat their customers. read more

My experience was slightly different. Our AC stopped working and we called them as our regular hvac technician wasn't available. We booked an appointment, but weren't informed of any visit fees. Their technician showed up the next day, again no mention of visit fees or estimates fees. He checks the issue and finds a couple of loose wires; tightens them and AC comes back on (so he clearly knew what he was doing). He tries to hurry and fix the issue without explaining the problem, consequences or calling out the charges for the repair. He quickly steps out and comes back with a $180 invoice. I refused as it was only a 5min job and they didn't clarify any amount before fixing the issue. The Tech hung out in my driveway for about 30mins talking to "his boss". Then he came back twice over next few minutes with reduced amounts of $125 & $90. They really lost credibility for me there itself, as they clearly didn't believe they deserved the $180 (which is apparently their base price). Matter still in dispute. I have worked with several good heating and AC technicians in Round Rock/Austin area and they offer free estimates and clarify charges before fixing anything. In fact, there are Hvac guys out there who will not even charge for a small service in exchange for a good review or a referral. So, beware of $89 visit fees!! Stay away if you can. 2 stars because they could fix the issue. read more

It was extremely difficult to find a company to come out ASAP to address a lack of heat situation we had going on in December. One of the many companies we had called was nice enough to recommend Moody's since he serviced our area. Moody came out early on a Saturday to assess our situation. Unfortunately, it was too cold outside to fully be able to diagnose the issue. He told us it'd be no charge and if the issue came up again, to give him a call. Luckily, our heat has been working fine since but should something happen to change that, we will call him first. read more

Excellent service! I called and left a message that my heat went out. It's going to be 70 degrees today but 35 degrees tonight. I got a phone call from Lori before I could put my phone down. Moody's is single-handedly the best service-oriented company I have ever worked with. When you call, you get the owners on the phone, and they are incredibly helpful, friendly and very prompt. We have had minor issues with our AC for the past two summers, and both times they have been in our home within half a day of calling. Legitimately, I have called at 9:30 pm and I have a phone call by 7:30 am the next morning, with a tech in my home by 9:30am. Basically, what I'm saying is, when you have AC problems, you NEVER have to worry too much about it because Moody's is on top of it as soon as it happens. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

We woke up to our AC unit blowing hot air and struggling to keep up with the heat. I tried to contact a few other companies, but they were either too busy or didn't answer. A friend recommended we contact Moody's to fix the problem. My call was immediately answered by a friendly woman (I think she is the owner). Within 45 minutes, we had a technician looking at our unit and assessing the problem. Luckily he only has to replace a capacitor and our AC was up and running. Excellent customer service, fast service and quality work! I will definitely use Moody's for any HVAC issue we have in the future and I will make sure my friends do as well. read more

Customer For Life! A+! #1! Here's why: (this review is long overdue) A few years ago my wife and I bought our first home in the oak hill area. About a year in we had a minor AC issue with our AC blowing hot air. In a panic, we googled the first AC person we could get and called. Upon this repair persons arrival the he got to work and in a few moments started walking me though "the issue". To make a long story long, when I was being shown what was "wrong" with my AC I noticed a sticker on the inside of my AC unit that said "Moody's AC - Call for service or repairs". During this time I was being given this elaborate explanation of how "this part and that part" were going to need be replaced and the cost was going to be in the thousand dollar range... needless to say I was 24 at the time and didn't have that kind of money laying around. As I was getting this news about our AC, I got pissed and felt the wool being pulled over my head and called Gary. Gary said, "I'm just around the corner, I'll come over now and take a look. I installed that thing, it shouldn't be having any issues!" Gary and his son arrived shortly after and all the while the other AC guy was still rummaging around trying to find a different solution. Within minutes of Gary's arrival he immediately pointed out that two wires involved in kick staring the AC had be crossed on the AC unit that Gary said "now that this is like this, its absolutely not going to run". The other guy apologized profusely and I simply asked him to leave once this was discovered in front of him. Gary is the person to go to for all your needs here. Honesty, integrity, Hard work! It's been well over 4 maybe 5 years since that service call and we've not had a single issue since! Gary has a customer for life with my family and anyone who knows me will get to hear this story frequently. read more

Quick fix! Gary Moody (the owner) was able to come and look at our system within a few hours of calling him. He had all the necessary parts to repair our system and our A/C was functional again by the late evening only because we had to wait for the unit to defrost itself before trying to run it again. Gary took the time to talk to me about A/C maintenance and showed me what parts he'd be replacing. His cost was exactly as estimated, no hidden fees. I haven't had a lot of A/C repair experiences, but I do know this guy is courteous, professional and really seems to care. I'll be calling him back to do yearly check-ups as my system is getting older and may need looking after to keep it running. read more

It's Texas hot right now and everyone is at the mercy of the A/C companies. The only negative I got from Moody's is that the service answered the phone. But after many phone calls to other companies saying they would get to me. Moody's called me back took my information and beat three companies to my door. Gary the owner was respectful of my ignorance to A/C's and quickly pointed out that it's a quick fix and he can have it done in a few minutes. 30 mins later i'm up and running and the house is cooling down from 90 degrees. Cost, Service, respect go along way in this world and Gary is as good as you get. read more

Gary is an honest guy who does good work. He was our yearly AC check up guy untill we decided to upgrade and had him put in a whole new system. Couldn't be happier. Wow. 5-star isn't enough. Yelp - how 'bout giving me some bonus stars so that I can make sure people know just how good these guys are??? Talk about speedy service! and she is as nice as they come. They were able to work us in on one of the hottest days of the year (so far) and Gary fixed our A/C unit in only a FEW MINUTES. Moody's was recommended to me by my friend's HVAC pro who could not get to my job soon enough. Turned out to be a great recommendation. After weeks straight of 105 and 106 degree days, our A/C took a nap on us and it was 90 inside our house! I called them in the morning and got the answering service but was called back within minutes by Lori Moody. She was very friendly and helpful and worked within the confines of my work schedule to get somebody to our house shortly after I would be home in the afternoon. Gary Moody (owner) showed up and within 10 minutes he had diagnosed the problem - some capacitors had shorted out - and said it wouldn't be hard to fix. We were worried it was going to cost us like $1000 but he was in and out of my house in less than a half hour and it was less than $300 for parts, labor and also to top off our coolant. (The only thing that concerned me a little was that the invoice didn't say specifically how much the parts and labor were, only that 1 Lb. of coolant was $30 and the rest was $250.) They are based in Round Rock but came to me in North Austin. I hope I don't have another problem but if I do, I'll call them again. Thanks! read more
