Has mani pedi. They did both at the same cost time in the spa chair. Pedi was great. Mani tech continued to jam her knee into my thigh. I kept moving it away and she'd just jam it in even more. One hand got dipped in the water,cold,the other day so long I finally removed it after it pruned. Since she was on one side the other arm had to be held over. She kept jerking on my fingers like they were going to grow. Arm was really hurting afterward. To top it all off she placed a plugged in gel cure machine on a pillow on my lap while my feet were in the water. WTF! Talk about putting my life at risk from electrocution. Of course she's the one that checked me out and is staring at the credit card receipt to see how much I put in for a tip. I will never be back! read more

This place used to be my go to nail place, but after not going there for several years I went there to try the gel manicure. The owner did my manicure and was rough with my hands and rushed through the entire process. She nearly cut off my entire cuticle and then applied this solution that stung like crazy, I told her it stung and she told me that I'd be fine. To make matters worse, the gel polish is supposed to last 2 weeks or more, but my polish started lifting 2 days after having it done. I went back and told her about it and she seemed surprised and said "this never happens, you must have picked at them"...Ummm, excuse me? Then she attempted to pull out the super glue and wanted to glue the polish back to my nail. I told her that I'd rather her fix it and the other 2 that were lifting. She acted bothered and rushed through AGAIN. I will never return to this salon. read more

I went there twice. The first time I was very pleased. It was crowded, so I asked what was the best time to come. I was so pleased that I wanted to come back. They said, "Weeknights at 6 pm." I was looking forward to going again. So, a couple of weeks later, I went at 6 pm with my daughter. They gave me the new person and my child the experienced people. If I ran a cash business I would make sure that the person paying gets the experienced people. The new person spent a half hour on one toe. She obsessed on over cutting my cuticles and I told her that it was painful and she kept doing cutting that one spot. I was about to walk out of the chair. Finally, a more experienced person took over. However, since the first lady took so long they really rushed. I did not get a nice and relaxing experience. I felt as though I had inconvenienced them. They closed and had just started painting my nails. They rushed us out before they were completely dry. I said that I didn't think my nails were dry. I messed them up getting my wallet. I messed them up getting my car key. They handed my kid my shoes and messed up her nails and would not fix them. I left not feeling like I got what I paid for. I don't know if I will go back. I would prefer time being spent on actually painting and caring for the paint then cutting off every cell of my cuticles. read more

I went to Montecito nails today to have gel nails on my fingers and a pedicure. Both were terrible! The gal doing my pedi cut me twice while she was clipping my cuticles (!), she cut my toenails back too far so the tips of my toes are longer than my nails and she even cut one on an angle, so it looks even more weird. The gel nail job left me with some of my nail tips not fully covered with the gel. The price for these two 'services' came to about $7 less than I paid at Three Sisters, but there is no comparison in the quality. Save your money and go to a better salon than this. Oh, and the other irritating things about this salon is that they talk amongst themselves ALL THE TIME. They don't stop talking for a minute and, of course, it's in Vietnamese... very irritating. read more

WORST pedicure ever. BEWARE do not go here unless you want your feet to bleed. My technician was very rough and did not understand the word, "ouch, you are hurting me." While she was using the little loofa scrubber she went too high on my heel and was aggressively scrubbing tender skin rather than my rough heel. I tried to pull back and told her she was hurting me but she kept scrubbing. Finally I told her that's enough and pulled my foot away from her and noticed the blood all over the white towel. She also cut too much nail down the sides of my big toe causing red raw skin and pain. She cut the nail too low and yanked it out by hand. She picked up nail cutters and tools that were already sitting there like they had used them on the person before me. I was very nervous I was going to get an infection in my nails. I was going to get a manicure as well but since they did such a horrible job on my toes I canceled it. It took quite awhile to stop the bleeding of my heel before I could even leave the shop. Normally I love this place and am a very satisfied customer but yesterday the lady doing my pedicure cut me quite a few times on my big toe while filing and I couldn't enjoy the rest of of the pedicure since everything just stung. After I left I realized my toe just looked red and blotchy from all the cuts. It unfortunately is still sore today. My mum was next to me and had a completely different experience though. Last night I took my daughter with me to have our nails done as a treat. We both woke up this morning with incredible pain in our big toes from the side of the nail being cut off, as well as pain under the nail itself. We are very clean people and have never had an issue in all the times we've had pedicures done, whether I've paid for them (at other establishments) or we've done them at home. Very disappointed with the quality of service received. I was trying to support a business closer to home. I will not be going back to this establishment, nor recommend it to anyone. I have never ever in my life gotten such a bad manicure! The gal working on me was rough on my cuticles and cut my average nails down to below the skin. It looked horrible and was painful too boot. She offered no tips or anything to fix it - just that dumb Vietnamese giggling between the other women. She charged me full price after knowing how angry and frustrated I was. This salon used to run late alllllll the time. Sometimes you're waiting for 30 minutes for an appointment you previously booked. Not good. They are about the numbers not about individual customer service. They are LOUD. Between the music, traffic and employees talking NONSTOP to each other loudly...you walk out more tense and stressed. I came to Montecito Nails to get a mani-pedi. One of the ladies started working on my feet. She cut my SKIN while she was doing my cuticles, literally ripped a part of my toe skin. It instantly burned when I put my toe back in the water and I told her that she ripped off my skin and she replied she was "cleaning it." My toe was sore when I got back home. The next morning I had PUS coming out my toe! I now have to go to a doctor so she can treat my toe infection! It hurts to walk and YELLOW PUS is coming out of my toe... The lady was rushing the entire time she was doing my pedicure and she didn't even take the time to do a better job with the manicure- she left big gaps without nail polish and when I told her to please fill the gaps in, she didn't do it. I have been a customer of Montecito Nails for years (not a regular customer) on Jan. 18, 2014. I went in for a manicure & pedicure. I had the gel nail polish on and the owner started using the dremel tool on my nails. Which all the other nail salons I have been to use cotton with nail polish remover and they wrap it around your nails. She did that after she took the dremel tool to them. Which weaken my nails. I had been texting on my Iphone until she began. Then I turned my cell off and put in in my pocket. The guy that has worked there for years was doing my pedicure. I was in the pedicure chair when this was happening. After he finished my pedicure they told me to go to the table. My cell phone had to of fallen out of my pocket and onto the chair. The guy had to have seen it! When the owner was finished with my manicure I reached in my pocket for my cell phone and it wasn't there. I started looking for it and saying its gone. THE GUY STOLE IT! I'M NOT SURE IF THE OWNER IS IN ON IT AS SHE WAS LOOKING AROUND ONLY FOR A LITTLE BIT. The whole time I was there was only a couple people in there. A woman with a young boy maybe (10) and her friend. They were leaving when I went over to the manicure table. That was it! The guy that works there tried to blame it on the boy. I can't believe the health dept has not shut them down as it is dirty! If you ever go there make sure you put your cell phone in your purse especially I phones or else they will steal them! As a walk in I felt I was say very quickly for a particularly busy nail salon which is always a good sign until you realize they lack the concept of sanitary and cleanliness. They clearly don't have enough instruments to manage a busy location they have. NEVER in my life have I EVER had fungi growing under my nails until I came here ! 5 nails I have to keep cutting down Bkuz my nails are LIFTING off my nail bed. Wah... this place should be renamed "Center of Unhygienic" ! I dropped in to get regular pedi and gel mani! The owner took me in and little did I know she was attending two other customers at the same time. She asked me to soak my hands in a plastic container that she picked from under the chair (that should be a red flag) and went to another customer to do pedi. She came back, not even wash her hands and attempted to file my nails with the SAME file she was using on another customer's toes! I stopped her, are you kidding me? To keep it short, she was jumping between three of us. I was very uncomfortable. After observing her take another customer without cleaning the pedi station, I cancelled my pedicure right away! The place lacked sanitization and basic hygiene. I fail to understand how people continue to go to places like this. I like to leave a spa feeling pampered instead of worried of potential infections! The gel she did was terrible did not even last a week! It's even worse that this is coming from the OWNER! I would rather spend a little more money at a better place. I love the owner. I have fake nails and while I love having them done, I HATE sitting there. Lan, gets me in and out so fast it's incredible! I'm extremely hard on my nails and constantly break them. I walked in on a whim and I think I was the first customer of the day. I used their bathroom (clean, smelled great), picked my colors, and they had the massage chair all ready for me. I had a man with a super cool fish tattoo working on my toes, and a pretty petite woman working on my fingernails. They were both meticulous and took their time making sure that my nails and cuticles were perfect before painting them. The woman gave a very firm hand massage that was therapeutic and relaxing and the man gave a more gentle massage and used an exfoliant as well as the scrubbing block. The entire salon is clean. They use medically sanitized and sealed tools fresh for each customer. There are plastic liners in the foot tubs, and I believe the chairs are new. All this for $35 for a basic mani/pedi. I don't often get my nails done, but this salon might have changed my mind. I will absolutely be coming back! read more

I've been going to Montecito Nails since Lan bought the shop 19 years ago. I am a busy working mom that cannot afford to hang out for an hour to get a manicure. I liken a good manicure to a good haircut, if it takes the stylist 1 1/2 to cut my hair they don't know what they are doing! I love the efficiency and expertise at Montecito Nails. I get a manicure every week, and even reds (and I bake and do lots of dishes) generally last me through the week. I don't know how anyone can say the polish came off 2 hours later. I dont' request anyone in particular, they all know what they are doing and provide consistent level of service and great manicures including hand massage. I ask that they do not cut my cuticles...and they don't. I get a pedicure every two weeks, and again don't request anyone in particular, I like other reviewers like them short, they cut them short...and not the kind of short that gets ingrown toe nails like the wrong shape I got prior coming to Montecito Nails. If it is a day where I actually have the time to be extra pampered, I get the delux pedicure which is AMAZING...or the extra minutes of massage...and I feel ready to reenter the world pampered...and perfectly groomed. By the way, ONCE in 19 years...my nail polish bubbled...and they were the ones who commented and did not want me to leave the salon and they redid all after I was dry. --that was seven or eight years ago. read more

I only give one star because I had to. I walked in there around 10:45 for my 11 o'clock appointment for me, my mother, and my grandmother. They started on my grandmother at 10:50 very pushy as to getting her into the chair while she was picking out her nail color and they were pushy with my mother too. Then around 11 they finally came to sit me down but not at a chair but a pedicure chair. From the time we walked in the staff was yelling and arguing with each other. I do not know who the man who works here is if he is the boss or not but he was swearing and cursing all over at one point the lady who was working on my moms nails kept getting up and leaving to go argue with the man and it got to a point where I went and told them my appointment can be cancelled because I have somewhere to be I am in a time crunch and they hadn't even gotten to me yet and it was already 11:20. So I just told them to not worry about my nails I'm going somewhere else and just to finish my moms and grandmothers nails and then we will be on our way. I got fed up to a point where I had to leave and go somewhere else at that point and then the lady who was doing my moms nails got up and left and started arguing again and that's when as I was leaving walked a little bit to the back and asked them to finish her nails cause we have to leave. This was a place I wanted to come to because they did great work at a really good price. But ever since today I won't ever come back they are so beyond unprofessional it's not even funny. I walked into this nail salon today after a LONG day at work and wanting my rough hands (just removed acrylics) to be pampered. Unfortunately I did not have the experience I expected. There were no customers in the salon, just the owner and I think her son. I asked for a manicure and was directed to select from a limited supply of nail polishes and when I asked if they had a darker color I was given black. Hmmm... deep red didn't equal black last I checked, but what the heck it's the month of Halloween so I thought I'd roll with it and be festive. So I was told to sit down, and then the woman (owner) just started filing my nails. There was no interaction beyond this woman doing my nails, no inquiry of shape, no attempt to even remove the acrylic remnants of a few nails, and the paint job was terrible! I have polish on my cuticles and where she tried to remove polish - it's just a smeared mess! I am so disappointed as a new resident to the area, for this to be my first salon experience! AND then to top it off, she told me it was $10, but ran my card for $11 and I had already given her a $2 cash tip!! I will NEVER return to this place. I had a great experience here! It was very clean, the people were friendly and they did a very good job with the mani/pedi for a very reasonable price. It turns out that the new owners (a family) recently took over and did a complete makeover of the salon. The equipment including the massage chairs are new and the entire salon is clean and well organized. They go the extra mile to be sure that the equipment is clean for each customer by using a newly cleaned set of tools and plastic tub liners for the pedi tub. I hesitate to give it one star after the experience I just had. I am sick, cancer. I haven't had the ability to get a manicure for five months. Finally, I found some time and energy - I'm going through Chemo- to go get a Manicure Pedicure. During the pedicure the woman working on me bumped the nail polish onto the floor. It splattered everywhere! On my purse, on her sneakers, all over. The owner, who was watching the whole thing did nothing to help. She just stood over that poor woman who was desperately trying to clean it up for fear of losing her job? The owner knows that I have cancer because I told her when she inquired about the hat. The smell of acetone got so bad that I had to get outside for fear of throwing up and still the owner did NOTHING. She even charged me the ten dollars I owed her for an extra foot massage (before the incident). I thought that was the icing on the cake. I will never go back. I cried on my way out. No one should be treated that way, not the woman who made the mistake or someone sick who just needs a hand to get out the door. read more

Montecito Nails has new owners and a make-over, with very comfy new chairs and very good hygiene practice. But I'm mostly giving them 5 stars for the 5-star treatment my frail, elderly mother receives when she goes in for her pedicure and manicure. They are respectful, thoughtful, grateful and very gentle. They take their time, going slowly to give her much pampering. She's always uncomfortable these days, but looks forward to her time there. I am truly grateful to this wonderful family who brighten when they see her, call her little "Mommy" and give her hugs when she goes. It's pampering on all levels! I would recommend this little nail salon if you, too, have a senior citizen in the family who would benefit from some warm and welcoming pampering from a business which clearly honors our elders. read more
