First, let me say the ambience has never been great. I've been to many other salons that looked cleaner, more up to date and more spa like. But the quality of my mani and pedi was why I kept going back. However, since Lin stopped managing the day to day business, the place has gone down hill. My mani and pedi have been just ok. My nails look decent, but my cuticles are sub-par. The massage that goes with it, well lame. It's almost like they are trying to do the minimal level of work they can. I'm super disappointed. I recently discovered this nail salon and have come a few times, and it's the best nail extensions I have ever had. I previously tried Gel X at another salon and it lasted 4 days. Here it lasts at least 3 weeks or whenever I have time to come in. Sabrina is very intuitive about choosing amazing colors, she's a great artist. Everyone here seems to do great nails and have great design choices on their personal nails. It is a gem of Marin county. I only wish they were open a little later so it's easier to come after work. read more

I'm very disappointed with my experience. I called ahead and made an appointment for a full set, which I've always known to mean acrylic nails. When my service started, the technician began gluing on full nails instead. I asked about acrylic, and was told that wouldn't be done until I came back for a fill. If I wanted glue-on nails, I could have easily done them myself at home. This was especially upsetting because I recently had surgery, and I was really looking forward to getting my nails done as a way to feel some sense of normal again. Instead, I left feeling even more frustrated. When I asked the manager about this on my way out, she said I should have specified acrylic when booking. In all my years of getting full sets at salons, I've never had to make that distinction--"full set" has always meant acrylic. To make matters worse, I was charged $60 for what was essentially a set of glued-on nails. Overall, this was not what I expected or paid for, and it left me very disappointed. read more

I've been coming to this salon for over 15 years, through multiple ownership changes. The previous owners especially the two sisters and their mother were absolutely wonderful. They truly cared about their clients and always made the experience welcoming. Unfortunately, things have changed with the new ownership. I recently went in for a pedicure and gel manicure. One of my toenails got smudged, so I came back the very next morning at 11 AM needing a quick fix before a company event. It was something that would've taken 30 seconds. Instead, I waited 20 minutes while no one offered to help. To make matters worse, the employee who has always had a rude attitude (even under the previous owners) was the one who told me I should've called before coming in as if that justified ignoring me. Meanwhile, five other employees sat and watched as I asked for the polish and tried to fix the nail myself. No one stepped in. Ironically, the day before, a mother and daughter came in ,the daughter had messed up three toenails from a different salon and they were helped immediately, no questions asked. After 15+ years of loyalty, this treatment was incredibly disappointing. I truly miss the warmth and professionalism of the previous owners. Sadly, I won't be coming back due to this incident and the quality of nails. read more

They do a nice job, they are working hard, and they are very friendly, but....... there is no point to making an appointment. We were seen 40 minutes after our appointment time and the stream of people walking in through the hour stating they had an appointment only to also wait 45-60(!) minutes beyond their time to be started shows that they are either understaffed or they are promising too many people appointment times. Really frustrating and this does not respect the customer's time, and therefore I will not be coming back. Nor providing a "tip" for my services today. I have been coming to Amazing Nails every 2-3 weeks for the last 2+ years. I always do acrylic overlay on my natural nails. Previous to the ownership changing in the beginning of the year, I never had an issue with lifting or chipping on my gel acrylics. I've gone 3x to get my nails done and filled and they haven't lasted longer than a week before they're lifting or chipping. All 3 times that my nails were done, the young man was the one who did them. Maybe it's his technique? I really tried to give the new owner/staff a chance here but after seeing 2 nails chip and 4 other of my nails lifting around the edges (the grow out is also very sloppy and rough) after ONE WEEK, I can't go back. My nails have never looked this rough. It really is disappointing because I was hardcore loyal to Amazing Nails and now I have to go and try to find a new nail place. read more

Unacceptable sanitary practices. They use the same files and buffers on everyone! This can cause bacterial and fungal infections. Everything inside is covered w dust incl. all the instruments they use. Old and worn out. Very dirty inside and the smell is unbearable, no fresh air. My gel nails fell off after 4 days.
