I use to come here and so did my mother. They charged my elderly mother $80.00 for some short basic French tip acrylic nails. Wow . They are so over priced. They even demanded a tip! My mother said this is all I have and showed them her wallet. So abusive and rude ! I went a few weeks ago for a pedicure, not only did they over charge me, but they scraped the skin on the bottom of feet and made it all rough and patchy!! Terrible job! Shame on you! read more

I really am pleased and happy with lovely nails. Great place to get full sets, pedicures and manicures! They know how to do coffin nails and will massage you, work on your toes and do your nails all at the same time. Very nice people! I got past the asking me relentlessly if I wanted anything waxed (still not sure what you were implying...) I was even able to surmount the 20 minute wait, with an appointment. But, when you made me bleed, that was the hangnail that broke the camels back. You dig? Staff Bacteria is probably coursing through my veins and attacking my wounded paw as we speak. Yeah I'm a guy from San Francisco and yeah I'm doing a review for a place called Lovely Nails. But before you come to any conclusion, let me just say that the answer is NOOO!!!!! lol now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you why this place is getting one star from me. I'd actually give it a negative -10 if I could. I do get my eyebrows waxed once in a while- not shaped, but just cleaned up. Otherwise they start looking too bushy and messy. I don't know what they did, but never has an eyebrow wax been so painful- mind you I'm no wimp! After it was all said and done I damn near had several layers of skin ripped off- no joke, no exaggeration-my eyebrows were red, swollen, and lightly bleeding. I literally couldn't touch them for 3 days without there being a stinging sensation. The scarring, which came in the forms of black, swollen lines above and below my eyebrows, did not go away for about 5 days. I think I'll just stick with threading. read more

The nails were shaped painted bad. Just the next day, today i was cleaning the windows and one nail broke off and other one chipped. If I can give this place a negative 10 star review I would. I went here with my mother for pedicure's and manicure's. Called ahead of time and made an appointment, also told them my mother is in a wheelchair. They said it wouldn't be a problem to accommodate her. We arrived to our appointment on time. It took them 40 minutes to finally start my mothers pedicure. What's the purpose of having an appointment?? Sooooo incredibly downright RUDE. They didn't even have her sit against the table to do her nails, and had the nerve to complain they were having a hard time with holding her hands during the manicure. Then some random customer that spoke the language decided to help hold my mother's hand? Helloooo, what are the tables used for, serving coffee?? Was this the first time they had a customer in a wheelchair?? And just because your speaking in a different language doesn't mean we don't know your talking about us. First off, stick to your appointment time! Don't complain about having to hold her hands, put them on the table like the other nail salons, duuhh. I would give this place a negative 5 stars if I could. Going to "Lovely" Nails once made me sorry for cheating on my regular salon. I'll just list everything that was wrong from the minute i got in there until the minute i ran out of there: *The typical Asian to Asian stare down. *While taking off my nail polish (I had on Essie's Madamoiselle), she completely did a less than half ass job. When I pointed out that my nails still had polish on them, she said "Your nail is just shiny" and continued... *FYI: My fingers do have feelings in case you were wondering. So, shoving the cuticle pusher into my cuticles as if I was the Brawny man with yucky hands just pisses me off because it hurts like a mudda! *IT'S NOT CLEAN!!!! not by any means! just because you put a p-touch label on a box that says "Sanitized" doesn't really convince me that your tools are sanitized because I've seen tools at my regular nail salon where they come in individual sterlized packages (think dental office...). Plus, that bowl you had me dip my fingers in needs to be thrown out. Soap scum does show up on glass, thank you very much. *Even though you're not speaking English, I know you're talking about me in Vietnamese because it's quite obvious. Your tone and side stares from the person you are talking about me to is a dead give away. Should I be sorry that I asked you to take off the polish like you're supposed to? NO. Overall, this place sucks. I've never had a worse manicure. I paid $15 (including tip) too much to sit in dirty place, get worked on with dirty tools, get a shitty polish job (my polish looks wrinkled because they had fans to dry instead of the UV light heated dryers. I didn't even care that i messed up my nails 10 mins after I left because I just wanted to get out of there. **Word of advice to you (Not So) Lovely Nails. You should probably close down for a while, re-do the place, get with the sterlization technique of this millenium, re-train your techs or just get new ones who aren't lazy sack of bones. I came in because I wanted to get a new acrylic nail and filling. and I'm just now realizing that my thumbs are TOTALLY different size and the length doesn't match but I don't understand because I saw her measuring the length of both my thumbs and they are still way off . Had been to Lovely Nails in years past and had good experience, but recently (July 2013) not so much. As I approached the shop on a hot summer day, I passed a sort of unkempt-looking guy hanging around outside, wearing a baggy old t-shirt and corduroy trousers. I go in, ask the lone woman working there if she has time to do a pedicure. She's doing a manicure but waves me over to a chair, so I sit. The guy from outside comes in, and starts my pedicure (!). Very strange -- but I hung in there, thinking, they must know what they're doing. Nuh-uh. This was during the BART strike -- no doubt the usual employees couldn't get to work, and the owner had her husband (or brother, or neighbor, or some guy she sort of knows) come in to help out; that's my guess. So, he pours tepid water into the foot-bath and I put my feet in. He doesn't seem to know what he's doing. He takes my feet out and starts rubbing something on my lower legs -- weird enough that this guy is putting any kind of unguent on my legs at all, but it feels like my skin is coming off, really painful. I ask him to stop, thinking he must have extremely rough hands, and then I see that he's rubbing exfoliating salts on my legs (!!). Ouch! Okay, I don't want him massaging my legs anyway, so we skip that and continue. After my feet get a brief soak in the water, he takes them out and starts rubbing the scrapy thing on my heels to take off dead skin -- but he does it so vigorously it hurts, and tickles at the same time -- most unpleasant!! I had to ask him to stop doing that, too. My heels were sore for weeks afterward. He took off way too much skin. By that time, the owner (I presume) was able to take a break from the manicure she'd been doing and comes over to apply my nail polish. She seemed a bit sheepish. I'm sure she knows her job, so she must have been horrified to see what her husband-or-whoever-he-was had been doing. I can't imagine that this guy has any kind of cosmetology license. Nothing would get me back into Lovely Nails. read more

They are family owned and been in business for 15 years.. Been here a couple of times with a friend of mine because she needed her nails done and most places are closed on Sundays. To our surprise they were open and even if they were fairly busy, they had a slot available an hour later. We told them we'd be sitting across the street at Starbucks and that yes, we'd be back. When the time came, they waved at us from across the street, which was cute.. they were very nice to us, even if we werent regulars! We sat down and chatted, and talked about vietnamese foods. They were friendly without being fake, which is rare in this type of business. Their pedicures seem really nice, which we'll have to try eventually.. but all the customers that get one look like they are in heaven !! read more

Despite these terrible reviews, I've had nothing but a positive experience with Lovely Nails. The owner is a sweet lady who always asks about my family and interacts with all clients who come in. Members of her staff are friendly and give great manicures and pedicures; my nails always look perfect and any problem I've had involved me accidentally chipping them hours after leaving the shop. As a customer of two years I've learned that making an appointment will not guarantee that you won't have to wait. What business would turn away customers just to sit around idly for 20 minutes hoping their next appointment will show up? If they're busy and you've made an appt. they may ask you to wait for 10 minutes. If you didn't make one they ask you to come back in 30 minutes. No big deal. As for sterile instruments, I've watched them thoroughly clean their utensils with disinfectant scrub after each use. If I didn't trust their cleanliness I certainly wouldn't go back. Sure, I've had a cuticle rip and bleed a bit... but that's the price you pay for beautiful nails (and for allowing months to go by without so much as looking at your fingers). If you're concerned about their health practices I suggest that you ask about their most recent Health Inspection, which should legally be available to the public. In the meantime, I'm rating their performance on my own experience, which I'd say is close to perfect. I recommend any yelp-er give them a try. read more

I haven't been to this place in a long time, but decided to give them a shot. I was pleasantly surprised! The service was fantastic & prices were great. I have never gotten a massage from a nail salon like I did today! I had 2 ladies, one was massaging my feet & legs while the other did my arms, shoulders, upper back & neck! This went on a good 10 minutes or more, I was in heaven :) The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the manicurist was a tad rough when taking off my old gel polish. She scratched my fingers below my cuticles with the emery board & made my thumb a little sore in the corner from picking at it too much with the nippers. I was surprised they weren't busy, being its the Friday before Easter. I will definitely go back. Remember to bring cash, they don't accept cards :) read more

** NEW OWNER ALERT ** I went to Lovely Nails a few months back and had a bad experience. Went back yesterday (they're a block from my home, I was desperate for a pedi) and had an AWFUL experience and will NEVER GO BACK. why? 1) Casually telling people who call and ask about availability to "come in now" only to find every seat taken and fresh mani/pedis starting for virtually everyone. I watched the same thing happen to several people who came in while I was there. Most of them left, baffled, annoyed - the employees sneered and snickered at them as they walked out the door. 2) Left me sitting in pedi chair for 20 minutes as the hot water turned cold. Yuck. Don't put me in the chair until you're ready for me! 3) Not paying enough attention to my cuticles even AFTER I asked the technician to thoroughly clean my cuticles. GRR. 4) Half-assed scrubbing of the soles of my feet. Why bother? 5) NOT finishing the edges of my toenails after clipping them and using a rough file on them. WTH? I don't want jagged little toenails, do you? And please don't look at me like I'm a raving bitch when I ask you to file them so they're smooth. I've had enough pedis in my life to know how it's supposed to be done. 6) General frenetic, crazy, UN-peaceful atmosphere. i want to relax and chill while I'm getting my nails done, don't you? Gave this place two chances. First time I went in for a pedicure to find they did not fill the tub water enough and it was cold. I politely asked for them to add hot water. They nodded and walked away. My massage chair wasn't working either and they suggested I could try to fix it for them. Interesting...the actual pedicure was very brief sadly. The second time I decided to go in for acrylics. I figured they deserved another chance. I have had acrylic nails before so I already knew what to expect in durability. Sadly after two days I lost three nails. I went in to another Salon to get those fixed and could tell I would never be back to lovely. Too bad because they are located in a good spot :( read more

To start, the girl working on my pedi was a child I am sure. She could not have been more than 15. She was not competent in any way and had to keep asking other workers there what to do. She broke one of of my toenails and then proceeded to cut all of them to match the broken one. They are so short I can barely see them. I want to cry. read more

Tina and her staff are great. I've only come in for manicures and acrylics and every time I leave pleased with the results. They always get the shape I ask for on my nails just right and the prices are fair. The women in the pedicure chairs always get lengthy leg massages and when I'm getting my manicure Tina always gives me a neck and shoulder massage while my nails dry. I've sent a lot of my clients here since they always ask where I get my nails done. They also have a huge selection of polish and gel colors to choose from. I work with my hands and have to mount lenses into eyewear frames a lot and my nails never chip or lift. Definitely come here for your next manicure or pedi. read more

Disappointing! I asked for cold water since I have a heat sensitivity and I felt like my feet were boiling so I asked for her to drain the water. She drained a little but just added cold water, placed my feet in there and said its good enough. I got ZERO scrubbing, a few strokes of the brush, a few strokes of the cuticle pusher and a few strokes of paint and she thought she was done. I asked if the pedicures come with a massage and she said after the polish. Now in what world does that make sense. You can't massage effectively while my toes are drying. She was only able to get to my calves and heel. It was a pretty good massage but wished my toes got some love too. After all I did request for a full service pedicure. Me and my girlfriend had 45 mins before a dr. Appointment. We had to get our nails done that day because we were leaving for Coachella the following day. All nail shops would be closed after the dr. Appointment. We came into this place and asked Kim if she would have time to do not one but two gel manicures and pedicures in 45 mins! She accepted the challenge!
