This is a hard review to give. I have been going here for years - but - today the pedi I received ended up in a bloodied wry painful toe, "it was dead skin" she said. She then tried to hide the bleeding with her hand and then proceeded to put who knows what on the wound. On top of that, after cutting the nails shorter they were not filed properly and look jagged. The entire process was horrible. The most disappointing part is she has been there for years (she may own the shop for all I know). I came here and got an awesome massage on my feet. I got awesome massage on my legs. I got perfect French toes and perfect nails. I love the job they did they took time they didn't wait made sure to take and replace my bad nails . They know what they're doing and I appreciate everything about this work. I give them each a tip and hope that it was enough for a very good nail job and great women who has their skills! I should go here again. The worst of all the nail salon I've been too. 1. Had the door open due to strong fumes but was closed after 10 minutes. My asthma was worsened. 2. Asked the technician to cut my nails but refused to cut it so some are short and some are bit longer. So I had to cut and file it myself. 3. They don't disinfect their tools. Unlike under salon it's sealed in a bag. 4. Tech doesn't push cuticles and barely removed them. 5. Tech told me what she will do but got something different. Had to redo itself myself when I got home. Waste of money. If you don't want the same experience avoid this by all means. Worst manicure ever the lady doing my manicure kept pulling instead of cutting my cuticles she pull a piece of my skin she made it bleed and it got infected. I was going out of town and it hurt and bled for over 5 days it ruined my vacation and it was hard to type for work without pain. I went back and tried to showed them the photos and they brushed it off and were mad the entire time. Both the owners were super rough doing my pedi and mani. My toes bled, even when I pulled my foot away the lady went back and cut me and made it bleed she covered my foot so I wouldn't see it, the towel had blood on it , i did not take a picture of that. I had blood and scab for days. Since I wasn't going back I asked for a regular manicure they insisted on doing gel. I thought maybe they'll give me a discount since my finger got infected but no was charged full price even though I told them no gel. My finger had gel polish all over and even the massage was rough. I went in without an appointment, and was instantly welcomed. I asked for a pedicure and let them know I had an ingrown toenail. Maria worked on both my big toes and completely fixed them without any after pain. The pedicure was incredible. She advised me to come monthly so the ingrown toenail doesn't get that bad in the future. She and her sister Kim both work on ingrown toenails. Would not recommend this place! Really got a half ass job done. First the lady who was doing my nails scraped my skin on the ankle using a scrub pad so carelessly. Then someone else took over and painted the toe nails. Already dismissed me when the paint was not even set. And while taking out the tissue from in between my toes smudged the nail paint. Then she tried to fix it by just painting top coat on it! I asked her WTF is this? Are you gonna leave it like that? Then she went ahead and said no I'll fix it. She took off the nail paint and redid it. Did not use a fan to dry the nail paint, she could have used herself whole lot of pain by just using the fan to dry off the nail paint. They do this for everyone! I guess she thought I was a newbie or something and just skipped that part. At that point I had already tipped her- which was really not deserved. Anyway I will NOT be going here. And I fear the instruments are not sterile either. What a shame. read more

Typically, I am not a picky person when it comes to nail salon experiences, however I am deeply disappointed with Montecito Nails.My mom and I decided to give this place a shot since our usual salons were fully booked. The first thing I noticed about the place was the poor labeling of the gel nail samples. It wasn't clear what the color would end up looking like and the sample rings were falling apart, but not a big deal. My mom and I both had gel on our nails already and we both understand the difficulty of removing gel polish, however the woman who removed our previous manicure was incredibly aggressive and very loud while working with us, yelling across the room and filing away our nails to the point where we were both in significant pain. The manicurists kept rotating between each other and didn't seem all that organized. The salon is not very clean. The furniture is very outdated, which would not be a problem if it was cleaned. The waiting couch was stained with tons of nail colors, the chair I sat on was also stained and the desk was dirty (dusty, rusted, etc), even the toilet had nail polish stains on the rim. To cure my gel polish, I was given the machine that was used minutes before by someone for a pedicure without being wiped down or cleaned. Though the nail tools are in drawers labeled "clean", my manicurist took a tool, rinsed it in water, and put it right back in which made me concerned over how sanitary the place is. As far as the actual manicure is concerned, we were both disappointed. As stated earlier, the samples did not represent the quality or color of the polished accurately, so we both ended up with very sheer and clearly dried out polishes, with no chance to change our color. My mother's finger was cut deeply causing her to bleed and neither of us had evenly shaped nails. Both of us ended up with goops of leftover gel polish on the sides (removed before picture was taken). Two of my nails were ruined before applying lotion, so my manicurist redid both nails (thankfully) but seemed quite angry that I had noticed the mistakes. Overall, my experience was not positive and I don't plan on going back. Not worth a hard earned $30. read more
