I'll definitely be back because there are wines that weren't available that day that I know I want to come back for! A great addition to cute Frederick's Main Street area!

We sat outside along Carroll Creek on a perfect evening and honestly the setting alone is worth the visit. But the food is what will bring you back. The pressed watermelon, feta and pistachio salad with vanilla onion jam was a nightly special and was outstanding... one of those dishes that sounds unexpected but every element makes complete sense together. The dill pickle hummus was a standout starter as well. The pork belly and grits is a classic on their menu for a reason... rich, perfectly executed, and totally delivers on the hype. The duck breast and filet with foie gras butter were both exceptional mains... the kind of dishes that remind you why you go out to eat. Do not overlook the sides. The potato salad especially is criminally underrated. The Short Shorties mini cocktail flight was a fun and delicious way to start the evening... a Negroni, Manhattan and Martini all in miniature form. Honest and knowledgeable hospitality from Kat, outstanding seasonal food, and a creek-side patio that makes the whole experience feel special. This one is a must for Frederick.

Also whoever was in the kitchen, they made an awesome ribeye and great Southwest Au Gratin Potatoes. So good that I barely looked at the price when I paid. It's rare to get great customer service along with great cooking nowadays. Especially in the Frederick area, but that's a matter of opinion. I sat outside. It was a very nice night and the Ambience was great. Not crowded at all. Lastly Thaddeus was the first and only person ever to offer the inner circle program to me, in which I signed up. Thanks for making my dining experience at Firebirds memorable.

We found this restaurant after using Google Gemini…read moreto find "Authentic German Food" when we arrived in the parking lot, we saw the chefs sitting outside taking a breather next to where we'd parked, but thought nothing of it at first. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!

The décor is lovely with a nod to the historic buildings age. I'm sorry to say it was a tremendous disappointment and do not recommend it. We sent back two of three items ordered, and the one that we kept was not that good. Out of curiosity, I did take a taste of the unpleasant looking cup of soup...it tasted as awful as it looked...flour and milk. I never saw a spoonful of soup sit so high on a spoon without spilling over. The crab topped pretzel was a fat pretzel with little crab dip on it...so dry. We took a table in the rear enclosed patio area near the bar. To start we ordered the meatball sliders. Two come with an order and they were good. I liked the toasted slider rolls, the tangy sauce and the spiciness of the meatball. Recommend cutting it in half to eat it without it flying out of the roll. Overall a good start. I ordered the gnocchi primavera which really wasn't in the traditional sense - as the vegetables were puréed together into an orange sauce. Had a good flavor and was served with burrata. Starters and entrees came out very close to each other which wasn't a bad thing. We also added a margherita pizza to share which looked weird - but tasted great. Nice crisp to the crust and thin. I usually think of a doughier crust with this kind of pizza but still good. Dessert was the fudge cake - rich in flavor, adding a coffee. Overall - would have loved to sit inside and get that experience but still good considering we didn't have a reservation. Our waiter - younger guy out back we good, though at times we leaned on the other bartender to help get refills.

We started with the red sangria pitcher, which unfortunately wasn't a standout for me. It tasted a little watered down, and I think it could have used more fruit and a stronger wine flavor. For entrees, my friend ordered the seafood tortellini, her boyfriend got a steak, and I ordered one of the specials--the Cajun pasta with chicken and shrimp. If you've read my other reviews, you know I like things spicy , so I asked for the Cajun pasta to be spicy. Unfortunately, it really wasn't. The Cajun flavor was pretty light and delicate, even after adding some red pepper flakes. That said, the shrimp were fantastic--large and beautifully cooked! My friend also let me try one of the scallops from her pasta, and the scallop was cooked nicely as well. Both pasta dishes came in generous portions, and there was plenty left over that we couldn't finish. One thing worth mentioning: they have an extensive gluten-free menu, which is a great option for anyone who needs it. Overall, a cute place to check out when you're walking around downtown Frederick. I'd come back to try something else--especially if I could get a little more spice next time!
