Tried this sushi spot in a brand new shopping center and it did not disappoint! There's plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The inside is super cute with plants on the wall, and they also have a few outdoor tables. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30 and didn't have to wait at all. They only serve beer and wine, just something to keep in mind. The appetizers were great, and the sushi came out perfectly. Highly recommend getting the "Ring of Fire" -- it literally comes out on fire and tastes amazing. The only small hiccup was that I didn't get the miso soup I ordered, but I didn't realize until the bill came. Our server apologized and took it off right away, which we appreciated. Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday very close to open. Small location in a strip mall on the edge of town. Several other shops and hotels in this area. We were immediately sat and placed an order for Bao buns. These were very good - only the "meat marinade sauce" on these - usually there is a mayo type as well. An order comes with 3 just as a heads up. We also ordered two rolls: Poseidon and Fire. They were both fried rolls but very good. The fire ball one is served with a liquor that is lit on fire which is cool - but it leaves behind an off-putting taste afterwards. Poseidon was very good with shrimp and crab and served with spicy mayo. For my main entree - I got the pork tonkotsu ramen. Standard - it was good and it comes with a full egg rather than one half like many other places. Our server was very good and attentive. Just a little off the main path near Westview in Frederick is this hidden gem of a sushi joint. I've only been here once for takeout, but I was already happily impressed. The menu is as expected with traditional style sashimi, nigiri and maki rolls, as well as your favorite bento boxes and donburi for those folks who love full meals with plenty to eat. Expect some great dishes here and reasonable prices compared to the eateries down near DC. However, the quality is not sacrificed! Such a hidden gem. Food was tasty and had lots of options to choose from bento boxes, soups, sushi rolls, udon etc. I ordered the spicy crab and shrimp tempura roll, spicy crab was yummy but the shrimp tempura was a bit dry but that's on me for not ordering more sauce on the side. Stopped in for some good food based on Yelp reviews while in Frederick for work, and it was delicious! Tucked away in a small shopping strip, this place is a hidden treasure. The menu is great with ramen, sushi and sashimi, tempura, and rice bowl options. I chose the bento box with teriyaki chicken, tossed salad with ginger dressing, gyoza, miso soup, and my choice of roll - spicy tuna. I also got the shishito peppers because they are some of my favs. My choice of beverage was a Kirin, but they had plenty sake options, wine options, and Sapporo. The ambiance is intimate but modern. Had a nice patio as well, but I visited during over 100 degree weather. The view of the kitchen and sushi making is wonderful. Staff was incredibly kind and attentive. I would say this is a place to take your time and enjoy the atmosphere, your company (even if it's yourself), and your food. Have a little patience and just soak it in. She was very pleased with her order, and I absolutely devoured my donburi! Serving portions are very standard. They were also filling. My friend and I were catching up after not having seen each other for a couple years. It took us a minute to look over the menu and decide what to order because we kept getting distracted. The wait staff were really patient and stayed friendly, even though they had to come back a couple times to take our orders. They were quite busy with a constant stream of diners coming in. The dining area was clean and beautifully decorated. They have plenty of tables that they can separate for smaller parties or connect for larger parties. Recently saw on FB that this place had opened and decided to try it. Walked in on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. The lay out and decor are very classy, loved that you can see the hustle and bustle in the kitchen, while our food was being prepared. We ordered the enoki garlic mushrooms, edamame, tonkatsu Ramen, for my son, and shrimp, tempura rice bowl for myself my husband ordered a couple sushi rolls for his meal. Everything was delicious! I am really eager to try more of the menu. However, I must say that I am obsessed with the garlic mushrooms. I think this place might be the best ramen in Frederick! It is great for sushi lovers and ramen lovers alike. My husband prefers sushi but our kids love ramen. Whenever we want both, this spot has been a happy medium. The ramen here is so tasty and seasoned/made very well. You can tell they take their time. The ramen is average prices and also decent selection of choices. Last time we came, I got the NOMU Tan Tan and it was actually a little spicy and very delicious. Just thinking about it now is making me hungry The broth was creamy, spicy, and well seasoned. The pork was very tender and easy to cut or bite into. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the soft boiled egg was divine. Our kids both got the Tonkotsu ramen, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The sushi is also good here. The last time we came we got the Crown roll and the Ring of Fire. Both great presentation and very good! One thing I will say is the sushi prices are a little higher than average, especially for Frederick. The service here has been on point every time we've come. Service was extremely attentive- checking in constantly throughout. Food- delicious sushi rolls. They may be more Americanized than traditional - cream cheese in many and some had excessive sauce on top. The Duo had a topping that looked thick like gravy - it was good, just caught us off guard. Menu felt a little limited but not sure if they are adding once they get their feet grounded a little more. And maybe I am used to the five pager at Old Dominion? The ramen was out of this world!! Definitely going back for the Tonkatsu ramen alone. Excellent broth, and the egg had a cute stamp on it. I think it says Nomu. The sushi roll, I forget what it was called something like dragon fire, but they slightly set it aflame when serving it to you. My only complaint about that is that it tasted very oily, or like the liquid they used to set it ablaze. It kind of ruined the taste of the sushi. Also the flame didn't last long, which is no big deal but I kind of wanted a video.. Either way, I will be back for the ramen. Maybe I'll try a different sushi roll next time too! read more

I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, Kraby rolls (crab lumps) and their donburi tempura rice bowl. The ramen was good/ flavorful, the rolls were decent, but not much to boast about. The donburi tempura was also alright, i would prefer to have more vegetables with it considering the price. It was mostly onions, a few pieces of brocoli, one zucchini or cucumber i couldnt tell and few pieces of shrimp tempura. Saw on Facebook that Nomu was opening today, and being a sushi and ramen junkie, I had to try to get there early. Spousal Unit and I were not their first customers, but (since I just added them to Yelp) it appears I'm their first reviewer. Booya! Nomu is located in the old Chaps restaurant space in the Westview Village Shopping Center. The owners have completely redecorated using a modern theme that allows space between tables (yay!), reduces noise (double yay), and, well, just looks darned good. Tables are far enough away from the door that tonight's blustery cold didn't register. The menu is still a work in progress; the printed menu we saw tonight was different that the one posted on Facebook yesterday. It includes sushi, sashimi, nigiri and rolls; hot and cold small dishes/appetizers; eight different ramens; "sushi tapas" (not clear what they are); several kinds of donburi (rice dishes); and drinks and desserts. Liquor license is still pending, but they expect to be serving Japanese beer, sake, and wine. All and all a decent selection. My only gripe is that the menu's small type was hard to read for our old eyes, but we managed. We ordered Japanese Bagel Rolls (Salmon, cream cheese, scallions) and the Sushi Sampler (Tuna, salmon, whitefish, shrimp, and California roll with miso soup and rice). Fish was very fresh, rice was well seasoned, presentation was beautiful. I asked them to hold the soup and rice so I had room for my next dish. Even still, we had enough left over to take for lunch tomorrow. We also ordered ramen: Tonkatsu for me (Tonkatsu base, pork chashu, egg, scallions, and nori, with bamboo shoots making a surprise guest appearance), and Shoyu (truffle shoyu base, egg, scallions, nori, and bamboo shoots) for SU. The serving bowls were beautiful, and both ramens were pretty darned yummy, with more chashu pork slices than I'm used to seeing. I slurped mine all up, and brought SU's remains home for lunch tomorrow. (I won't says for her or for me - you guess!). Overall, the quality of the decor, food, and outstanding service was what I would have expected in a restaurant that was open for many years. That tonight was their first night just blew me away. It pains me to give this place 2 star, the staff was very great and decor was lovely unfortunately the food was not. As soon as they set the sushi sampler down in front of me I smelled a super fishy smell. The quality of the fish isn't good. The tuna was still somewhat frozen ish, the salmon was a tad slimey, the middle fish idk what that is was tearing apart, and the last white fish was so chewy I had to spit it out. Both the California and eel roll was super loose, the eel roll was super salty as it was drenched in its sauce. So this is a new sushi place that just opened where chaps Pit beef use to be. The decor is very cute and inviting. They do have a sushi bar which the boy and I ended up sitting at. The bar i believe does tilt downwards toward the guest's lap just slightly (I don't often take levels with me to dinner) so I didn't actually confirm this. This did not bother me nor did it cause me any problems. The sushi bar is always a nice spot to sit and watch the sushi chefs Make their rolls and cut the fresh fish- so this was a fun and entertaining spot to sit. They do not have a charashi bowl listed but do have a sashimi don listed. As far as I know, don's do not get sushi (flavored rice) and this was the case despite us ordering a charashi and getting the affirmation that this was possible. The fish however was fresh and cut well. I wish the rice was a little more flavored but again it wasn't labeled as such. They do have some standard rolls but they do not have all the standards. They do have a lot of cooked rolls and rolls with cream cheese so if that is your jam then you will probably be fine. We also saw but decided to not get the sushi sashimi platter which looked amazing going out to a different table. The service was ok-- but it did take a while to place our order once we figured out what we wanted and then I had to walk to the register to cash out at the end. If we are in the area we will come back as it's a solid place, we may try out some of the ramen or get the sashimi platter next round read more

Love this place! We ordered the salmon skin sushi, dragon roll, vegetarian ramen, and the truffle oil shoyu ramen. All of it was fantastic! Never tried salmon skin sushi but it's definitely a new thing for me to look out for. Plus the truffle oil ramen was a lot more truffley than I expected which was a welcome surprise.
