After hiking at the new Sweet Run VA State Park, we came here to Koyo Ramen to fill out tummy's. We walked in and were the only ones there. The server was very pleasant and attentive. The inside was very nice with Japanese decor. We ordered spring rolls for our appetizer. They.were.delicious! Very fresh. Very soft and very tasty. I could have eaten those all day Their soy sauce is extra bold. Just SO good. My friend got the signature Ramen and I ordered Tonkatsu Curry with rice. I took a ladle full of my friends ramen and it was the best I've tasted. Very full body flavored. My tonkatsu Curry was a bit on the sweet side. Though it was good, and had potatoes in it, I prefer it not to be sweet. The pork was wll breaded and tasty as well. I ate all of my plate and was very full. I would come here again. ** Please put fish katsu curry on the menu (with non sweet curry) That's my favorite.

Tonkatsu Cheese Curry

We were in the area and decided to try this restaurant. It was a lovely experience! We both had their Tonkatsu curry (mine with cheese) and with the spiciness kicked up a notch. Yum! As an appetizer, we picked Karaage, which was delicious-- fried crispy with the chicken inside still moist and tender. I have to mention a couple of things about our visit that will have us coming back: first and most notably, the music playing in the background was relaxing and not too loud. Almost every restaurant you go to plays music overbearingly loud. So this is such a nice difference that I wanted to mention it. The other notable thing is that the restrooms are very clean and tidy. So, in summary, if you'd like a generous serving of Japanese comfort food with great service and ambiance, come to Koyo Ramen.

Cabbage salad and truffle salt fries

While this wasn't the best ramen I've ever had (RIP Ramen Setagaya), this hits the spot for me with its authenticity and location. Egg was still jammy, pork was nice, bowl was big. It was on the saltier side (but I like that). I think the Koyo ramen didn't have much truffle flavor, or rather the black garlic overpowered it. An elderly Japanese couple came in while I was there and they said that they thought it was good- and that to me speaks volumes. I'm super happy that there is a more authentic ramen place closer to me now. It's a 45 minute drive, but well worth it. I can't wait to come back for the curry katsu. I'm excited to come back and try the other ramen flavors. Bonus- they give an 8% discount for paying in cash!

The prices are unfortunately insane now. You're going to pay $20 for a bowl of ramen. Unfortunately there are other places to go that are more reasonable. Not worth it sadly

Arrived early on a Saturday for lunch. Great vegetarian and vegan options. Preparation was excellent. Surprisingly ample serving size. Koyo is my new go-to for trips to Purcellville.

Eggplant Miso

Came in today we had spring rolls, miso eggplant, and truffle fries as appetizers. Then I had the Curry Ramen & D had the Koyo Ramen & made it spicy. It was all very fresh and delicious. Gigi waited on us and was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the food ingredients and preparation. If you have leftovers, like us, they box up your noodles separately from the broth. Very nice touch. 11/10 will mostly def come here again.

Karange chicken

I've had ramen before and nothing compares to this place!! It is so good and I love the ambiance. We took our food to go and ordered the Tonakatsu Ramen with Karange Chicken, Truffle Fries, & more Karange Chicken. Highly recommend!

Chicken Karaage

My wife & I love a ramen restaurant so we thought we'd give Koyo a try based on a recommendation. It's set up like a fast casual place which you'd expect from a ramen bar. Comfy and clean. Service was great even though there was only one person handling tables AND seating. We knew what we wanted but overheard the waitress guiding some ramen rookies through the menu. We ordered vegetable gyoza & chicken karage for appetizers and we both got spicy tonkatsu ramen. Appetizers were excellent! Chicken was crispy and flavorful and came with a zesty aioli. The ramen itself was pretty good though a bit too salty for our taste. Generous portions and definitely spicy!! There is not a full bar here, so just beer, wine, and sake. We will likely go back if we're in Purcellville & craving ramen.

Spicy Tofu Ramen with extra egg
Lydia B.

I'm a huge Ramen fan so was super excited to hear a Ramen Shop opened so close to me. Koyo Ramen did not disappoint! Food was great. Started with the Parmesan Brussel Sprouts and I had the Spicy Tofu Ramen (I also asked for extra egg because that is one of my favorite parts). The soup was perfectly spicy and super flavorful. They also have a great Bubble Tea selection including Winter Melon which is my personal favorite but harder to find. Service was great! Super friendly staff! Loved the restaurant had a good amount of people in it and there seemed to be a good amount of take out happening too! The restaurant also has a cute Bubble Tea bar area that would be fun to sit at sometime. I'll definitely be back!

Gyoza
Andy G.

I swung by and checked out this restaurant last week and it was very nice. The ambiance is chill and very clean, oriental and looked like they had a bubble tea bar which was cool. I hade the Tonkotsu Ramen and Gyoza. The gyoza was nice and crispy on the outside stuffed with mixed veggies. It was amazing and the sauce you could drown in. Gyoza is a solid 8/10. The ramen was carefully prepared. I did order an extra egg but usually you get half and here they have you full eggs which was perfect. The broth is savory and the por was thick and tender. The egg was just a regular boiled egg. Usually some ramen spots have like a sweet pickled egg they put in and Naruto as well. Overall the ramen for me was a solid 8/10. There's only one spot in DC that would top this but they have the best portion sizes and also the cut of the pork is super thick and tender. The pork alone was 9.5/10 easily. The broth and egg brought it down a bit for me because I've had really good ramen that's super rich and savory broth. Not bad tho definitely coming back weekly

Tonkatsu Ramen
Tyler H.

Awesome! This ramen scratches the itch for authentic, delicious, filling, and nurturing food. The broth is phenomenal and very flavorful; you can tell the taste is from a broth that was home made and not from a box powder that so many places in DC use. The fried coating on the chicken is very crispy and delicate which makes it taste very light and flavorful. Very attentive service and friendly staff, great team all around here. The ambiance is very Asian inspired ( as expected) with clean comfortable seating areas with plenty of light. The food reminds me of ramen I've had in Japan and Korea. Will definitely be back!

The sign was so small you couldn't read it from the road. We had a reservation but they seemed surprised to see us and not ready for a party of 7. However, they quickly recovered and seated us in a back room all to ourselves, which was nice, however, it was one of those 90 degree days and I didn't feel any AC. The furniture was a little hodgepodge and the chairs seemed like something from an old conference room rather than a restaurant. Not very easy to get in and out of. No matter. We got settled in with menus and drink orders taken. I had a chicken teriyaki rice bowl. It was okay nothing outstanding. One lady had a chicken teriyaki noodle bowl. The rest of our group had various rolls. I thought for the price the food was average and a little on the pricey side. The service was good and we did have this little private room to ourselves. Would I go there again? I would but it wouldn't be my first choice. I was really disappointed because I love the charm of Berryville and I was hoping this place would a little gem I had yet to discover. Hopefully it gets better after they settle into their new location.

However, they do a good takeout business, as we noticed several people come in to pick up their orders. Before coming here, we looked at their menu. Thus, we knew what we wanted when we got here. Service was great. The staff here is friendly and efficient. Our server checked on us more than once during our meal. To drink, my husband ordered a Kirin Light beer while I ordered a glass of plum wine. Some Japanese places fill the glass too high, but here, the portion size was reasonable. I ordered "the poke bowl". I chose salmon for my fish. This bowl consists of "Sushi-grade fish topped with vegetables, mixed with poke sauce over a choice of mixed greens or rice". I chose the rice. Before coming here, I looked up "poke sauce." I found a website called "pokebowlny.com." This is the description they gave: "traditional poke sauce blends soy sauce, sesame oil, and often rice vinegar, along with aromatics like garlic and ginger. This classic combination makes the fish taste fresher, the vegetables more vibrant, and the rice more flavorful." The vegetables in the bowl were kernel corn, seaweed salad, and cucumbers. I really enjoyed having this meal! All the flavors worked well together. I look forward to having it again. Along with the poke bowl, a bowl of miso soup is included. That, too, was quite good, and it came to the table quite warm. My husband ordered "Tuna Don," which consists of "fresh tuna sashimi over rice & vegetables. His entrée came with both miso soup and a small side salad. The bowl had a big slice of radish, some seaweed salad, and the usual shredded daikon. The wasabi was really spicy - he could feel it in his nose and sinus cavity - it'll take your head off. The generous portion of tuna was large with thicker slices than he'd ever seen before.

Jinya Ramen Bar offers a trendy, modern, metropolitan atmosphere. The space has a lively energy, with techno/disco-style music playing in the background, a full bar, and televisions featuring sports programming. The crowd appeared to include a number of younger couples, which added to the overall vibrant feel. I ordered the Chicken Yuzu Shio Delight and customized it with spicy bean sprouts, fresh garlic, and chicken wontons (each an additional charge). The dish arrived hot--which I always appreciate--and was exactly what I was looking for: flavorful, well-balanced, and satisfying without being too heavy. My kids ordered from the children's menu and clearly enjoyed their meals--they liked it so much that they asked for more noodles. I ended up sharing some of mine and ultimately ordered an additional bowl. The staff was very accommodating throughout, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is family-friendly, even with a bar as a central feature (which we did not utilize). The host was welcoming, and the staff presented a cohesive, modern look with all-black attire. While the style is clearly part of the restaurant's trendy aesthetic, some aspects of the dress may be a matter of personal preference (too short in my opinion, I would not like my daughters wearing such short attire). Overall, this was a great experience. The food was satisfying without being overly heavy, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was engaging. I would certainly recommend Jinya Ramen Bar to anyone in the mood for quality ramen in a lively setting.

The service is a hit or a miss depending on who you get, sometimes great and sometimes a bit slow. But not horrible. The food. So this is known for their ramen. I think that their ramen is solid, not amazing but good. Decent broth flavor and good chew in the noodles, I personally prefer a hotter broth, but it comes out slighter warmer than room temp (not my fav, but still good). The Chashu is usually good most of the time, tender and not too chewy, there was a few times that it was meh, but most of the time it's good! The ramen, 3.5/5 The Izakaya part. The yakitori is lacking. The chicken thigh should be the most tender and flavorful but it was so dry (how can you mess up dark meat?) and lacked depth in flavor. Chicken 1.5/5 The US Wagyu is mediocre. You can tell that it's US cause it's tough. Sometimes it's tender and great and other times it's a bit tough. Steak 3/5 The sushi. Mhm, the sushi is so expensive a bit overpriced doe what you get, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. Their special rolls are ~ $20 range, but the size of the roll is about the same as their "standard rolls" seems not worth that premium price. Usually at most sushi places their special rolls are larger in size and makes it worth paying more for. Even their standard nirgri prices are double than most places. I have gotten a variety of rolls over the years and it's honestly just okay. Good sushi, but small and super overpriced. 3/5

The Rockville location here is perhaps not the most beautifully decorated, with some rather odd ornamentation (like an actual, possibly functional, payphone? ), but it's still a nicer spot than a typical lunch counter. Okay, confession. I have no idea what the different ramens are. I always just kind of pick one randomly, and I've never met a ramen I didn't like. This time, I got the tantanmem. Of course, picking randomly, I picked one that used ivory soap as a topping -- or as you fancy people call it, "cilantro." Realising my error, I quickly caught the waitress and asked for it to be omitted. Akira actually skipped it! YAY! Thank you. I cannot tell you the number of times that request gets met with a "no problem" only for my dish to be overflowing with soap bubbles later. The broth had a little bit of a spice to it, not much, which was delightful. Everything was well cooked, and it really hit my hangry spot. My only small complaint was that my egg was still cold -- but, also, the bowl was set in front of me, and I simply hit the "ON" button and vacuumed it in.
