I rate restaurants within their category and concept. I am not comparing a casual neighborhood Thai restaurant to a Michelin star dining experience. If a place delivers flavorful food, solid execution, and a meal that makes you want to come back, that earns a strong rating from me. We recently visited Patama Thai Kitchen and had a very enjoyable meal overall. The pho was good, comforting, and satisfying. The broth had nice flavor and made for a solid start to the meal. The beef and broccoli was also well done. The beef was tender, the vegetables were cooked properly, and the dish came together nicely without being overly heavy. The fried rice was enjoyable, though in my opinion it could have used just a touch more seasoning to really make it pop. Still a good dish, just one small adjustment away from being excellent. The Yum Yum noodles were one of the highlights of the meal. They were very good, light, flavorful, and had a nice balance that kept the dish from feeling overly rich. Overall, this was a very solid experience with multiple dishes we enjoyed and no major misses. That is always a good sign. A solid 4 stars from me, and we will definitely be going back. read more

I wanted to try the "other" Thai place in town. Their prices are about 1-3 cheaper than our go-to Thai place. The online ordering system wasn't working so I phoned in my order. I had the pad see ewe with beef- the beef was cut thin and not too tender. It was almost dry. The dish missed the mark on flavor. Overall this dish was lacking in moistness and did not have the char taste that most places do with the noodles. The Basil fried rice was good but missed the mark again on flavor. I selected beef again and same as the noodle dish, this beef was dry: I may have to stick to my favorite place and pay the extra money for better food. read more

We walked from W & OD trail to S Maple to get some Thai food after our hike to Weverton Cliffs. I think they were starting their day; we walked in and they were getting stuff together. Chatter between my friend and order taker..I said veggie curry. I got tofu curry. Receipt said tofu curry and I didn't complain, but I did notice a couple things: 1) my order was wrong. I said veggie curry. I got tofu curry. I expected big bowl as usual, i got small portion compared to all other locations. No big spoon. Just a small plastic spoon, with a small eco-friendly bowl. -I do appreciate the eco friendly bowl but there was a Lot of tofu which I didn't order and order was small.. but...... price fit my small curry. Usually it's $16 for green curry with meat or no meat This day it was, i think $11. I loved the curry broth it was delicious!! But...I didn't know the portion was small and spoon was small and the boat load of tofu instead of veggies. But I made it work. It was so good. Honesty, delicious. The Spring rolls were just ok.. sweet and sour sauce, also just ok. Overall, I would come back for more. I can't believe that I just discovered this place! Why didn't someone let me know Just how great this place is! This restaurant gives you a wonderful feeling the moment you step inside - bright and clean, pleasant music playing, and a warm and friendly greeting! We ordered a spring roll appetizer and two main dishes - spicy basil fried rice and Pad Thai. The spring roll was good, the two main dishes were extremely good. The fried rice was spicy as it should be and as I ordered it, and the Pad Thai was equally wonderful - great flavors in both dishes and very fresh ingredients. And the portion sizes were very fair. This is my new Goto place when I want Thai food even though it's a long drive from my house. I can't wait until my next meal at this delightful restaurant. read more

BF and I stopped by here for a Sunday lunch. It's difficult to decide whether to give this place three or four stars. The food is good, and the service was excellent. We were the only people in there, I'm not sure why. Perhaps it's because the eating area is not aesthetically welcoming - just some very small tables and chairs along the side of the wall. The food was served in takeout containers, so that was another downside. They also do not have a liquor license to allow them to sell beer or wine. The food itself was good, and BF had the drunken noodles, which the menu said were spicy. It was spicy - in a well-done way. I think this place best functions as a takeout restaurant, rather than a sit down restaurant. Then you can take the good food home and enjoy it on a plate with a beer at home. read more

I'm half Thai and have grown up eating Thai food at nearly every available restaurant. I have also eaten plenty in Thailand. This is a Western Loudoun 5-star but even by broader NoVA standards I would give it an easy 4-star. Food was very good. I had the panang curry and some of my kids' Pad Thai. Pad Thai was nice and sticky, with the right amount of sweetness. Curry sauce was a great rich consistency and the flavors were great. I do wish they had red curry on the menu (only panang, green and massuman). I do feel there is something to be said for a limited menu. Makes me think they know what they are good at. Drawing the line at red curry seems weird but I suspect it may be due to availability of some of the fresh vegetables, out here in Purcellville (e.g., eggplant). Oddly, they did not have lime wedges and only gave lemon wedges. I would have loved lime. The ambiance is a mix of takeout and fast casual. Seating is a little cramped at the table due to the size of the chairs. There is a diner feel to the aesthetic. I came here for a sit-down meal and was a little surprised. Still, the food is good enough that I will absolutely come again for a sit-down experience. I like that they use paper plates and bowls instead of plastic or foam. I do wish there were non-disposable options, however. The service was fast and friendly. the kitchen is right there in front of you so you can see them cooking. Overall, I was very impressed. We had food from the other Thai place in town when we moved here and were not happy with it. We put off trying Patama almost two years. Wish we had come here sooner. Patama Thai is a gem!! I visited again after graduating from the area and it's as good as I remember it. Patama Thai was where my family got our first meal together after dropping me off at college, and the food here is authentic, freshly made, tasty and hits the spot every time. I know they care about their customers because I see them recognizing regulars all the time, and it's great to see a wonderful place that has both great food and great people. The one star is for the rice. I ordered at 11:00 for pickup at 12:00. I thought the food would be fresh. It was not fresh. It was clearly left over from the day before. The chicken was dry and tough. The dish which was supposed to contain green beans had a total of 8 green bean pieces. This is our 2nd disappointing experience with Patama. There won't be a third! Anyone who rates this establishment above three stars has never tasted good Thai food. read more

I've lived in Purcellville for years, but have just driven by this restaurant without thinking of ever ordering from it, but I'm glad I did. I ordered Panang Curry with extra chicken ($2 extra) and extra rice ($1 extra). as well as an order of the Crispy Spring Rolls. I ordered take out, and by the time I got home, everything was still hot and fresh. I will start with the negative - I not recommend the spring rolls because there was no flavor to them at all, and not worth the $4.95. Everything else was really good. I ordered extra chicken in my curry because I wasn't sure what to expect of the portions and I wanted leftovers. There was SO much curry and chicken, probably enough for about 3-4 small/medium-sized portions. I was super happy about this, but I will say, even AFTER ordering the extra rice, there's not enough rice! Overall, great experience eating delicious food! Will return to try other dishes! read more

3.5 Stars. Good food. Great Service. But not too cozy. We stopped in here over the weekend and were surprised to be the only people eating at noon. I had drunken noodles. Wife had Pad Thai. Both were good. The Drunken noodles were nicely spiced. While the food was good it was all served in disposable plates and cups as would normally be used for take out. Thus, I would only recommend this place for take out. The prices are moderate. It cost $8.95 for each of our entrees. read more

Best Thai food in Purcellville! I love that it is an open kitchen and that there are no pesky wait staff that I have to tip. I have had many of the dishes and the Pad Thai is delicious. I'm gonna rate this place a 5 because of the following reasons: Food is cooked fresh. You literally see them do it cz it's a small place. Portions are good and food is delicious. You can have a bad Thai food but not this place. People here are friendly and courteous. Asian restaurants are not known for this articulate category but this place hit it well. We ordered fried rice for the kids, hubby and I had drunken noodles and pad Thai. I was so hopeful for Patama Thai Kitchen because I would love to have a great local place to go for thai. I'm conflicted in this review because the different menu items get very different reviews. Pros: the online ordering was super easy to use. The prices are very good. They got our order 100% accurate and it was on time. We ordered two orders of pad thai (one chicken, one veggie), the tom kha, and the yellow yum noodles. The pad thai was very disappointing. It lacked flavor other than just tasting burnt and old. It was very lifeless and not good. Not to mention inconsistent--my partner's chicken pad thai tasted less burnt than mine. The tom kha was too coconut forward for my liking (I'm aware coconut milk is a primary ingredient, but I've had plenty of tom kha that didn't taste like you were drinking the coconut milk directly from the can). The yellow yum noodles were the star of the show. It's a bright, flavorful dish of ramen noodles. If I were to go back, it would be for this dish. read more

Patama Thai is my go to! I used to go to Finn Thai but I think it is way overpriced and the quality is not nearly as good as Patama Thai. The prices are very reasonable and the food is so flavorful! I have recently discovered the Pad Broccoli dish (I just get all broccoli, no meat) and it is so healthy and delicious. For anyone reading during quarantine: They are also using healthy practices like wearing masks and cooking with gloves etc so you can feel comfortable that the food is clean. 10/10 RECOMMEND read more

Used to be very good. For our orders this evening, the "Pad Ginger (chicken)" didn't have an iota of ginger in it, or any other flavors for that matter. One box of bland chicken pieces and one box of plain steamed white rice. The other order of "Basil Fried Chicken" had no hint of basil in it and was nearly as bland as the Pad Ginger. This place is not fancy on the outside or inside but it packs a punch. There is a much more formal Thai place in Purcellville but the food does not compare to this place. They had the best drunken noodles and Tom Khai Soup we have ever eaten. They were very quick to prepare our takeout and the quality of the ingredients was truly superb.
