Thaitastic came to my attention through a Yelp email recommending restaurants to try. After looking at their menu and the great reviews, we decided to give them a try. We were here for an early dinner on Saturday. Once we were greeted, we were told to pick where we wanted to sit. As other Yelpers mentioned, the dining area is small. We sat at a two-top next to another couple, who were clearly regular customers. After we looked at the menu and decided what we wanted, our server arrived promptly. For a starter, we both ordered "vegetable and tofu soup," which consists of "mixed vegetables and tofu in light broth topped with fried garlic and scallions." Sadly, it arrived at the table with no "fried garlic", but still had good flavor. We liked the variety of veggies: baby corn, broccoli, cabbage, snow peas, and carrots. We both thought that the broth could have been a bit more flavorful. To drink, I ordered a Thai iced tea, which was well made. My husband had a light beer. For my main course, I got "lava chicken". I asked if this dish had white meat, and our server said "yes". It consists of "lightly battered chicken stir-fry with sweet chili sauce, topped with scallions and carrots." I had never seen this dish on any Thai restaurant menu before. I would order it again; the sweet chili sauce had a little kick, which I didn't mind. The portion was huge! I took the leftovers home, and we ate them for dinner last night. The dish was still as flavorful as if we had just ordered it. My husband got the "cashew" entree and added shrimp for his protein. Besides the shrimp, the dish consists of "stir-fried cashews, scallions, onions, and carrots in sweet chili paste sauce." Both dishes were served with white rice. Thinking about the food we had, I told my husband it was made with love. His dish was very attractive-looking. In fact, the couple sitting next to us asked my husband about his dish and if he liked it. The server offered us a portion of ice cream; it had a great flavor. Every staff member we interacted with was very polite and friendly. One of them, an older man, insisted on boxing up my leftovers. I wouldn't have minded doing it myself. It was a nice gesture. When we left, the staff wished us a good evening, and we returned the greeting. We let them know that we will be back. Some things to know: they have quite a few tables outside. The restaurant is hard to see because it is set back from the main parking lot. If you see Qdoba, Thaitastic is a short walk around the corner. There is parking in the rear, too. read more

Tried ThaiTastic in Ashburn and it hit the spot. We got Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, and Yellow Curry, everything was fresh, super flavorful, and basically gone in minutes. Pad See Ew was the standout, smoky and perfectly done noodles. Pad Thai was solid and the curry was rich and comforting. Quick heads up, "low spice" still brings some real heat here. Not a bad thing, just don't trust it if you're spice sensitive. Overall really good Thai food with big flavors and good portions. Came here with the wife during a weekday for lunch. During lunch they have lunch specials where you basically can chose two entrees for a cheaper price. It is like a combo meal entree. And I believe it came with soup too. It was so fairly priced and the two dishes were big portions. We assumed since it was pick 2 entrees that each entree would be small, so we both ordered separate ones (so 4 entrees total). It was just so much food. It was so delicious and we wanted to finish it all, but we couldn't. We had to embarrassingly ask for to-go boxes (I always prefer finishing my meals rather than bringing home leftovers). Such unassuming Thai resto, building facade is just regular, only a few tables, nothing fancy. BUT, man oh man! The food was excellent by far amongst the rosters of Thai restos we have tried in NoVa. This place is not easy to find, tucked away behind a strip mall close to Harris Teeter. The restaurant itself is small and modestly setup. Definitely OK to eat in, but there were a lot of customers picking up take out food. I have been here a few times and would say it is the best Thai restaurant in Ashburn by a mile. It does not have the location or decor of the more well known places, but it makes up for it with friendly staff and timely, flavourful food. My wife had drunken noodles with chicken and it came out in 5 minutes, hot and with freshly made noodles. Fantastic flavour. Walked in when they first opened and I was the first customer there. The service was really nice. They greeted and asked me through all my meal if I needed anything else and how the food was. I got a Thai tea which was fine. It just tasted like the generic Thai tea. I got the pad Thai and pannag curry lunch special that came with a side of vegetable dumplings for only $15. The mango sticky rice had more warm coconut milk than I was used to but the texture of the sticky rice was amazing! I would get it from here again. Thaitastic is tucked away in Ashburn Commons Plaza, around the corner near Jersey Mike's. Their restaurant is not too big, about 4-5 tables and a bar. The staff here is very friendly but you can tell they are always slammed with take out orders. We've visited multiple times and tried a bunch of things. The Thai Iced Coffee and Lychee Thai Iced Tea's drinks that must be tried. Every dish we've had are must gets. Sure the Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, and Tom Yum Soup are great but the Crying Tiger and Crispy Duck with Chili Basil Sauce were our favorites.
