Beef dumplings with kimchi on top
Kevin S.

We stopped by for a cocktail and some apps. The holiday wasabi mojito was fantastic. It was a great recommendation for the bartender. All of the drinks looked great. The appetizers were all solid. The beef dumplings with kimchi on top were my favorite. I look forward to trying the Ramen next time.

Went for dinner and the restaurant lighting was very dim that I had trouble seeing. All the pictures I took were super dark you can barely see anything so I had to enhance the lighting. Ordered the karaage curry expecting curry, but there was only a little bit on the rice. The tonkotsu ramen and tsunami ramen were good, but average tasting. The kill bill drink was good. The croissant pudding was like a bread pudding. There's no parking lot, but there's free meter parking on Sundays.

Had a girls night last night and made a reservation for four. My friend is a Frederick local and raves about this place. Frederick was having an event last night so there was more traffic than usual, causing us to be late to our reservation. The staff was very understanding of our delay and worked with us. We were seated shortly after arriving. We ordered drinks and appetizers both of which took awhile to be served. But as I said downtown Frederick was SLAMMED. All of the staff that I encountered were super pleasant. I ordered a strawberry mojito and it was delicious!!! I also had edamame and teriyaki chicken with rice which were tasty. The restaurant is decorated with bright colors and has a fun trendy vibe.

For this small town, this ramen is lit! The broth is rich and the noodles were ideal for the type of ramen. The takoyaki is good too with a chunk of octopus, feels like this one they made it in house. The service was nice, attentive and they easily handle the number of customers with breeze. Parking might be tricky, street parking or garage parking is available nearby.

Recently visited Tsunami for a small date night with my boyfriend. Restaurant was busy but not packed and it's a very casual environment. The food was pretty good and they offer fair portion sizes. I don't each as much but I know my boyfriend was hungry so I gave some of my dish to him. He got the chasiu tacos but I got the bowl version. I also got the tsunami mami alcoholic beverage and it was just ok to me.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (added corn)

Great ramen spot in Downtown Frederick! Ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and added corn - super delish creamy and flavorful broth, and wonderful chew on the noodles! Wish they did a soy flavored egg but it was cooked well. Also got their sweet jasmine tea which was refreshing! Seating is a bit tight, so call or use their website to make a reservation beforehand!

The menu displays various Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, ramen, and rice bowls, with descriptions and prices.

We had a lovely lunch at this eatery in downtown Frederick. The interior is designed cozy and welcoming, the staff were friendly and kind. I ordered the Veggie Bento box, it was creatively packed with a lot of different food, I really enjoyed it!

A Really solid 4.5 stars for Tsunami Ramen. My wife surprised me with a dinner here for the "dinner out for your birthday" part of my birthday weekend up in Frederick and it was a lovely mean. Very cozy, ocean themed vibes and after perusing the very extensive menu of Ramen, appetizers and Rice Bowls, and ordering our cocktails, we got the Chicken Karrage Rice bowl, the spicy special ramen listed on the specials (We were here on 12/28/24, not sure how long they keep the specials on there) as well as dumplings and Korean pancakes to start. Drink: Good cocktails Service: Super prompt. Literally both times one of us got up to go to the bathroom one of our courses came. It felt a smidge too fast, but that's a nitpick Food: Flavors were great. The Korean pancakes were a little too temperature hot when we got then but were excellent once we let them cool. The dumplings were great and my wife loved her ramen in all facets, including the broth. Note on this "spicy special ramen": it's a mild spice, so if you're heat sensitive you're fine. My rice bowl was really tasty as well and I kept going back before desert to have another bite. Dessert was great; it's pictured below; I just can't remember what it was.

Craving ramen, Yelp directed me to Tsunami close to our Airbnb in downtown Frederick. Top-rated, I went in hopeful. Walking in around noon for lunch on an April Friday, I got a seat at the bar easily. Staff were friendly, attentive, and my food came out quickly (as did the check). Great service! Enjoying ramen around the world in my travels, I was disappointed in my ramen. The red curry ramen comes with pork, but the egg wasn't properly cooked for ramen. (The yolk was overcooked and hard.) The flavors also didn't pop. Everything was muted. The wontons on top add a little crunch, but eat it right away before they get soggy. The milk tea boba came with some syrup inside that took away from the milk tea flavor. It was way too sweet. (I have sweet tooth so if I found it too sweet, it's really too sweet.) It's possible I ordered wrong so I'd love to give it a second chance when I return to Frederick. Also, the staff were excellent and the space is beautiful, decorated with murals everywhere.

Cozy little place, great for when it's cold out! I had the chicken Ramen, the chicken was fried and came in a separate fry basket. My daughter got the spicy pork, both were good. Service was good, parking is on the street with meters or in the parking garage, not sure of the cost. Our soups were $13.00 & $14.00 each. They serve alcohol, however, I didn't have any. Tables are small, very cozy place.

Spicy Tonkatsu, it says spicy but wasn't very spicy in my opinion.

Here are my ratings: Ambience 3 stars-they live up to the name of the restaurant. Tsunami translated means tidal wave and the decor inside was reminiscent of the sea. The boards above the bar and the Japanese prints around the restaurant. However, it's a small restaurant and only has 1 restroom for each gender. Service 2 stars-They quoted me 20 mins, but didn't get called until an hour later. If I didn't go back and check, we wouldn't have eaten until after 8pm. They need a better reservation system to notify their guests. However, staff were friendly. They just were not organized. Food 4 stars-flavor and presentation were great. Giving 4 stars because the noodles were a little overcooked, it may have been sitting too long before they brought it out. Look at captions for food critique. If you go on a weekday, I think it won't be as busy and won't have to wait like we did. We went on a very busy night.

Tonkotsu Ramen

Got there on Sunday night at 7. Got seated right away. They offered us the high table in the front, but we declined because it was just too hot in a December night. We ordered couple of their special: tuna nacho and Penang curry chicken Ramen. And one of theirs regular dish Tonkotsu reman. The tuna nacho tasted great with lots of toppings. The Penang curry chicken reman was ok and had things in there that shouldn't be. I believe there was raw onion in it. Just weird. The curry wasn't anything special. You can buy a can of curry paste in Asian supermarket. I use that to make my curry, and it tested the same. The Tonkotsu reman was traditional, and it tasted great. The roasted pork was sad and super thin. The noodles had the right texture.

This is a great Japanese restaurant tucked away on the second floor of a small building. We went for their lunch special and I thought both the tuna was very fresh, as well as the cook on all the items in the bento box. A great deal for lunch and also fresh fish that is quite surprising for the area. I'd definitely be back!

All things delicious. Will absolutely be back. I ordered a…read morewagyu skewer, empress roll, and one other thing I'm blanking on right now. Got to try several friends' ramen broths. They mentioned the kaarage was some of the best they'd had stateside; the salmon tartare was also lovely. It's decorated nicely and servers were accommodating for my friend with dietary restrictions. Hope to visit again soon!

The service is a hit or a miss depending on who you get, sometimes great and sometimes a bit slow. But not horrible. The food. So this is known for their ramen. I think that their ramen is solid, not amazing but good. Decent broth flavor and good chew in the noodles, I personally prefer a hotter broth, but it comes out slighter warmer than room temp (not my fav, but still good). The Chashu is usually good most of the time, tender and not too chewy, there was a few times that it was meh, but most of the time it's good! The ramen, 3.5/5 The Izakaya part. The yakitori is lacking. The chicken thigh should be the most tender and flavorful but it was so dry (how can you mess up dark meat?) and lacked depth in flavor. Chicken 1.5/5 The US Wagyu is mediocre. You can tell that it's US cause it's tough. Sometimes it's tender and great and other times it's a bit tough. Steak 3/5 The sushi. Mhm, the sushi is so expensive a bit overpriced doe what you get, and I'm not sure if it's worth it. Their special rolls are ~ $20 range, but the size of the roll is about the same as their "standard rolls" seems not worth that premium price. Usually at most sushi places their special rolls are larger in size and makes it worth paying more for. Even their standard nirgri prices are double than most places. I have gotten a variety of rolls over the years and it's honestly just okay. Good sushi, but small and super overpriced. 3/5
