Delicious brunch spot in downtown Paso! Cute cafe and friendly staff and quick service. I got the Denver omelette with added mushrooms. It came with avocado and choice of bread and either country potatoes or hash browns. They have a bunch of sauces at the table to top your breakfast the food was delicious. Will definitely come again!

Monarca has escaped me, seems to be closed everytime I'm looking for a place. They have breakfast and lunch hours M-Th, and longer days F-Su. As it turns out, I've lost out until recently. So damn cute inside, especially during the holidays. So damn nice and helpful, service and management. So damn delicious, owner is also the chef and he knows what he's doing. So damn fresh, from the homemade chorizo, fish, and all the vegies. Basically, they have Mexican food...with a steak & a few seafood options for dinner. I'll be back, and often. Their 3 salsa's made fresh everyday are nothing short of magnificent.

Solid option for breakfast/brunch right in the center of town, Monarca is delicious. A cozy setting nestled among several businesses and yet it's comfortable and even something of an oasis once you enter. Holiday lights, for now, but still it's pretty inside. The options are many: Skillets, omelets, sweets, salads and more. I could not resist the carne asada (including rice, beans, squash, carrots, jalapeños, avocado and French fries). All so good and fresh. The rice cilantro built in; the beans were creamy and smooth and delicious. The meat was cooked pretty much to order (MR), and it comes with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. It's huge, and I nearly finished it all! My dining companion got the breakfast burrito which looked good and was, in due time, demolished. There is such a deep menu here that I imagine you probably can't go wrong with whatever catches your eye. I also liked the coffee; a good bodied, non-acidic brew worthy of a few refills.

Amazing breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice. The Chilaquiles with chile verde sauce was amazing. Good service and a reasonable price. We will definitely be back

Was shopping in Paso Robles and needed lunch. Ordered a Club Sandwich, which came on a roll. It also came with some criss-cut fries. I ordered a soda. The sandwich was really dry, and the fries lacked flavor. Might come here again if I am in the area, but would order something else.

The green and red chilaquiles were AMAZING. Beautiful plating, served over whole pinto beans with sour cream and cheese. Perfect crunch (not soggy), and the red chilaquiles were my favorite, super flavorful and authentic. I also tried the sopes and WOW. They stayed crunchy, the chorizo wasn't spicy, and the sauces were sooo good, especially the green one. The service was great! The restaurant was cute inside! Lots of butterfly decorations! Cute! Definitely coming back!

Stopped for Sunday brunch in downtown Paso Robles. We were lucky to get seated fairly quickly considering most places were packed, including this one. Pretty generous serving and the food was delish! We all liked what we got. :)

I did not have a great experience here! First, my boyfriend made a reservation for us, but when we arrived, no one came to the front to meet us for several minutes (we were at the podium outside but the doors are clear glass), and when we walked in the door to try to grab someone, no one made eye contact or greeted us again for several minutes. I had to wave someone down and ask about our reservation, one of the staff members said to hold on, and we proceeded to wait awkwardly without guidance for several more minutes. Once we got seated, our waitress came up and immediately asked us if we were ready to order, without having opened the menu yet. Further, we waited about 30 minutes for our food to come out once we did order. My boyfriend ordered one of the breakfast combos with scrambled eggs, ham and hash browns. His meal was cold and the serving of ham was pretty small. On the other hand, I had the Monarca breakfast burrito, which was hearty and flavorful. I really liked the chorizo! I thought the breakfast burrito was very good, but the service experience here would probably prevent me from going back before trying other places in the area. I hope others don't have this same experience, as it looked like they had many other good items on the menu!

Monarca seems like the new kid on the block in Paso Town Square, and it is a welcome addition. The menu has lots of options and the interior of the restaurant is charming! The food prices are good and the presentation of the food is spectacular. I tried the garlic shrimp and the steak with an enchilada. The steak was a little bit tough, but the flavor was excellent!

GIVE THIS GEM A TRY!!!! I visited Monarca Restaurant on a Saturday while I was solo in the Paso Robles/Atascadero area, and I couldn't have made a better decision by popping in when my first choice was closed. From the moment I arrived the staff welcomed me with genuine warmth and kindness. As someone who eats very health-consciously, I appreciated how clearly their menu shows a commitment to scratch-made dishes and fresh ingredients. There are plenty of options that feel wholesome without sacrificing flavor. Highlights from my meal: * The chilaquiles were vibrant and perfectly prepared with the combination of green and red sauce. * The maduros were soft, sweet, and beautifully presented * The cauliflower taco was a clever, tasty option... actually hitting the spot for something lighter but still satisfying and flavorful!! * And the guava mimosas... lovely and refreshing! What really struck me was how comfortable I felt dining alone, the staff made me feel very at ease and the atmosphere was just right. The presentation of the food, the variety of protein-and-healthy-option choices, and the visible effort in the kitchen all add up to a very strong experience. I wish Monarca Restaurant the very best in their journey. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and highly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for delicious, mindful food in a warm setting. If you're in Paso Robles and considering a stop for brunch or lunch, give this gem a try.

Monarca chorizo Benedict 1/2 way done

On our way to the Central Valley for Christmas, we had to stop and charge in Paso Robles. The map unexpectedly routed us to a charger near downtown Paso, and since it was Christmas, we weren't sure anything would be open. We ended up at Monarca, right in the heart of downtown Paso Robles--and I'm glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the place felt welcoming. The host, server, and waitress were all genuinely friendly, which immediately set a great tone. We started with freshly squeezed orange juice--and I don't mean squeezed earlier that day. It's squeezed when you order, and you can absolutely taste the difference. For food, we ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Monarca Chorizo Benedict. While the yolks weren't as runny as we prefer, everything else more than made up for it. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The homemade chorizo stood out--nicely spiced, not greasy, and very well balanced. Overall, great flavors all around, a warm atmosphere, and for the area, the prices were very reasonable. Definitely a solid stop in downtown Paso Robles, especially when you're not even sure places will be open on a holiday.

    Charming interior

Breakfast was so good.... Had a veggie omelet - made perfectly. Also it is a really cute restaurant - great ambiance, nice decor, super clean. When passing thru a town for a day- you never know where to eat. This was perfect. Just wished we would be in town longer so I could go for dinner as well .

Even though it was a 15 minute drive up the freeway from where I was, it was worth every minute. The downtown area this shop is in was really cool, plenty of parking, and the moment you walked into this coffee shop you could tell it was going to be good. Lots of space, people sitting and having conversations, and a greeting from the Barista the second I walked through the door. I went with my standard iced oat milk latte with honey and a triple shot and it was perfect. I wish I could have drank it there because the inside of the shop seemed like a place you could hang out for a while. Unfortunately, I had to take it on the road, but that is a shop (if I lived in that area) I would drive out of my way to get to. Well done guys!

To be fair, we did order a latte, so that is partly expected. The breakfast sandwich was good but a little underseasoned and could have used a bit more flavor overall. The chicken pesto sandwich was the standout. The pesto was well balanced and did not overpower the rest of the ingredients, which made the sandwich really pleasant to eat. Overall, everything was solid, though slightly pricey for the portion sizes. The food was good, but nothing especially memorable. Still, it is a nice stop if you are in the area.

The famous ranchero sauce was good, but quite spicy! Kept eating it despite getting heated from spice, since it added the flavors. - Chilaquiles supreme = chilaquiles was good, but the tri tip piece from the supreme upgrade made it too chewy and detracted from the base chilaquiles. * I think the regular chilaquiles would be the better choice to enjoy without distraction of tri tip pieces. At first, my wife and her friend were a bit unsure as they reviewed the menu, as they didn't immediately see options that appealed to them. However, that quickly changed. Our friend ordered the asparagus salad and croquettes, while my wife chose the rosemary garlic grilled prawns and roasted heirloom carrots. Both dishes completely exceeded expectations--they were blown away by how flavorful and well-prepared everything was. Over the course of our trip, we visited many wineries and enjoyed several excellent meals throughout the Central Coast. Yet by the end of it, both my wife and her friend agreed that this dinner stood out as the most memorable--truly the highlight among many great experiences. Thank you for starting our trip on such a high note.

Before we get into the meat & potatoes of this review, let me get something off my chest…read more I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT not anywhere close to being a Cowboy, but I'll be damned if watching shows like Yellowstone on Paramount+ make me think twice about my life choices. I mean... Riding a horse on the open plains.... Wearing Levi jeans, a flannel shirt, with a big cowboy hat, a pair of cowboy boots, and rocking that big belt buckle sounds pretty cool to me. But being a Cowboy or a Cowgirl for that matter is more than just the catchy attire, it's a Lifestyle! Rooted in hard physical labor, long days, loyalty, deep respect and responsibility for the land and herding cattle are just some of the core values and responsibilities of being a true Cowboy/Cowgirl. Hell, I might not be a Cowboy, Yet... But I sure do respect the Lifestyle they live and for now, you can find me on the sidelines rocking out to my favorite country and Western artists: Morgan Wallen, George Straight, Garth Brooks and of course my Girls Reba, Lainey Wilson and Carrie Underwood. Heck, All I need now is my Cowboy Hat & Boots, Well, I suppose I should get a horse too ;) ------------------------ Now, Saddle up Partner, let's get this review on the road. Located at 1316 Pine Street, this hole in the wall Cafe is where locals and visitors come together to break bread. A well themed decor diner that's open from 6am-2pm daily, The Cowgirl Cafe serves up a mean breakfast & lunch and boy did I enjoy it. 2 Eggs sunny side up, corned-beef hash, their Chef's Special Home Fry Potatoes, a side of toast, & a cup of coffee... All served with that hometown, local hospitality from our server who waited on us... You know, just like a cowboy, I tipped my hat to her and tipped her very well for her excellent service. As mentioned earlier.... The Cowgirl Cafe is open from 6am-2pm daily, so for you early risers who live the Cowboy life of waking up before the Sunrise, a hot meal will waiting for you. But don't fret if you are new to this Cowboy/Cowgirl rise and shine, get the day started off early business... Cause they serve breakfast up until 2pm (or until the cows come home). YeeHaw!!!
