Veggie omelette w/home fried potatoes
Janet S.

We intended on going to the Cowgirl Cafe, but there were people standing waiting for a table. So Yelp lead me to Sunrise Cafe, a cute lil' place tucked in a L-shaped strip building. There's seating for about 24, so it's cozy. A varied menu of breakfast classics along with Mexican fare as well. I had crab cake & egg Benedict w/home-fried potatoes. The crab cake was hand formed, not a frozen Patty. Hubby had a veggie omelette. We will definitely be going back to this family-run cafe.

Just visiting for the weekend so looked to yelp for their suggestions and luckily we came across this place. My first impressions was where are we going to sit because it was quite a small space. But the amount of people that were here gave a sign that it was worth the wait. We were sat right away by a wonderful young lady which we soon found out was the daughter of the owner. She clearly had such pride in this business by the way she spoke about it and treated us. Soon after we received our food and I must say she had a reason to be proud, every thing was so delicious! We ordered the menudo which is only served on weekends and the biscuit Benedict which was biscuit sausage and gravy. 5/5 so happy they are receiving the praise they deserve.

We ate at Sunrise Cafe twice during our visit and it was so good we couldn't stay away. The first time was for breakfast and I had the most amazing veggie omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. The omelette was incredibly fluffy and full of flavor and everything tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. We loved it so much that we went back again just to try their Birria tacos, which are only available Friday through Sunday. They were outstanding. The homemade corn tortillas were fresh and delicious, the meat was unbelievably tender, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. This is truly authentic Mexican food with everything homemade and clearly family run. On top of that, the service was warm, friendly, and attentive. A must visit spot for both breakfast and authentic Mexican dishes.

This was our second time visiting this little gem. We originally found it on Yelp. We gave it a shot, and we're very glad we did. It is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall place, with cute decor, including some nice paintings, which you can purchase if so inclined. The staff here is very friendly, and the food is very good. For our second visit, my wife got the same thing she got on her first visit. Verde Mozarella Enchiladas. She was going to get something different this time, but she loved it so much, she couldn't resist ordering the same thing. I on the other hand, loved my first dish so much, I wanted to try something else because I knew it would also be excellent. And it was. This time, I got the Buenos Dias. It was absolutely delicious. And the salsa they brought was fire! Like, not just flavorful, it was hot too! The restaurant is run by the father/chef, and the son and daughter are the servers. The son served us on our first visit, and we had the daughter as our server for this visit. Both were extremely friendly, and very well-versed in the menu, with lots of recommendations. The service was very fast, and they also engaged us in friendly conversation when we were settling the bill. We pass through Paso Robles from time to time, and whenever we stay here, The Sunrise Cafe is one of our go-to breakfast spots. I highly recommend you give it a shot if you're in the area. Side note: My wife is admittedly quite picky about eggs. She says THE SUNRISE CAFE HAS THE BEST EGGS SHE'S EVER HAD (perfectly cooked- both times). I'm just gonna end with that...

They serve the best breakfast. The Chile Verde sauce is amazing! The home fries are seasoned to perfection This is a family owned business. They are awesome people. The service is wonderful. I highly recommend eating here. They are closed on Tuesdays now. Only breakfast and lunch.

Be welcomed and served by sweet happy people. They're glad you're here! We decided to have breakfast on the lovely patio. Hubby, in his Harley Tshirt, enjoyed his front row seat to the Harley show! We split the Chorizo Burrito with extra crispy home fries. The home fries usually come inside the burrito, but as requested, served on the side. The home fries were fried to a perfect crisp with a kick of sweet onions and red bell pepper to finish. Perfection! The Chorizo Burrito has great chorizo, eggs, loads of cheese in a fresh burrito tortilla. Both the mild and spicy hot sauce were fresh awesomeness and they generously gave us alot more! The spicy was perfect for me! Before we get back on the road... Last but not least, a sparkling clean well appointed and beautifully decorated lady's room. It's a one body potty for all and quite lovely! Thank you sweet people for hosting a delightful breakfast experience. Hope to see you next time!

Pork and Chile verde Chilaquiles with a side of hash browns.

We had a party of eight for breakfast and Sunrise Cafe quickly accommodated us. This is a nice small cafe with some very authentic food. I love Chilaquiles and most places just don't get it right. Our server said it one of the most popular dishes. Sunrise cafe nailed it. I had the Pork chile verde Chilaquiles and it was very good. They have a good selection of breakfast on the menu. Parking is limited in the lot, but there is some parking on the street as well. This is a good pick for breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good food and service.

Excellent breakfast and huge portions. I ordered the veggie omelette and it was filling and delicious! Our waiter was a very nice and knowledgeable young man and was very accommodating with all of my special requests. The cafe is rather small and quaint. Parking is tricky, but all in all, I would rerun in a heartbeat when in town.

I enjoyed the food and friendly family atmosphere here. The scrambled eggs hit the spot and the service was quick. I'll visit again!

Cobb salad

The service was pretty fast. We got the Cobb salad and the chicken pesto sandwich. Both were pretty average and exactly what we wanted while we were on a road trip driving through Paso Robles. The place was pretty empty, just wish the tv was something else (it switched from a documentary on cocaine to a soccer game that was in Spanish) .

The coffee is from La Colombe, so the quality is reliably good. Service, however, is extremely slow. There were at least four staff members working, yet the wait time was surprisingly long. That said, everyone--including myself--seemed to wait patiently. The staff genuinely appeared to be doing their best and working as quickly as possible, so the slowness didn't feel intentional or careless. The food was a pleasant surprise. Everything tasted very fresh, and the croissanwich in particular was excellent--easily the highlight. Overall, good service in terms of attitude and effort, just unusually slow for reasons that aren't quite clear.

The space itself feels fresh and stylish--definitely a great first impression. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the hype. The avocado toast was underwhelming. The egg, which should have been the highlight, wasn't cooked to perfection--there was that unappetizing, slimy egg white situation going on that really threw off the dish. The chai latte had nice flavor, but it was served cold when I was expecting a comforting hot beverage, which was disappointing. On a more positive note, the breakfast burrito was decent, especially with the crispy hash browns adding a great texture. The real standout, though, was the homemade salsa verde and hot sauce--both were delicious with just the right amount of spice and definitely elevated the meal. Overall, the ambiance is on point, but the execution in the kitchen needs some fine-tuning to match the vibe.

Not only was the food amazing but so was the hospitality. They gave us a free ube latte bc they made an extra on accident and i swear it was better than the dutch bros I had down the street. At first we were skeptical about the lumpia bc of the peas in them but once you get over that you'll realize its actually REALLYYYY GOOD. they werent soggy or flavorless, it was perfect all around. I was so full but almost wanted to buy another order to eat on the road- it was that good. My boyfriend devoured the slider, but spared me a bite. Im not really a burger/sandwich person but i have to say it was so flavorful would def recommend. If i was hungrier I would have ordered one for myself. We will be visiting again someday, but in the meantime I hope people will get to find this gem and have a memorable & positive experience as my boyfriend and I did

It consisted of Lumpia (a type of spring roll) pork (was dry but the gravy saved it) white rice and glass noodles with vegetables. My wife ordered the mango lemonade which was surprisingly good. So why did I give four stars? I found two bones in the pork. When I mentioned it to the owner she said it was from cutting meat from the bone. I do not know of this was an aberration or not. These could have easily chipped a tooth or cracked a filling. I guess being a Casualty Underwriter for 37 years is commenting.

You definitely can't tell that's the case from the outside, but it was a great surprise once I got in. The barista was friendly, they were able to create my drink no problem, and I really loved the different gluten and dairy free options they had for food. I went with a gluten and dairy free, chocolate, banana muffin that was really good. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five, was simply the quality of the oat milk. It was good, but not great. That said, if I lived in the area, it would not prevent me from coming. Other than that, it's a really cool shop.
