Went for dinner with few friends and had a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Had a mix of Indian and Chinese dishes. All were delicious and served with beautiful presentation. Special mention for Chicken Angare, Fish Chile and Rawa Dosa. Mustn't forget the 'Chat' which brought back nostalgic memories of India. Used to come here for a dosa and got a dosa. Immediately. Now it looks different, it seems to be a cafe that nobody is using. Has all the atmosphere of a prison commissary. There's a 20 minute wait for your dosa, which comes deconstructed. It was tasty enough, but over all, they made some really stupid changes. Final review: sucks. read more

I would not recommend Chinese food. We ordered chili paneer, veg Manchurian, Hakka noodles & schzewan fried rice. Schzewan fried rice was made from left over veg Pulao. They just added tomato sauce, Chinese sauce & whole lot of chili flakes. Same for Hakka noodle & Manchurian. Tasted like tomato based Italian food. Only thing we liked was chili paneer. We prefer Moghul express (and order to go) over Moghul across the street. The lamb rogan dosh, the butter chicken, the naans, raita and all dishes especially the chicken saag are MUCH better here. Obviously the chefs are different, but the recipes we prefer are at the express shop. Delivery has gotten very expensive via uber eats so we drive to pick it up and it is always ready. Staff is really great and the dosa and idili are fantastic too. The only thing that is well below average are there samosas. We also prefer our food very spicy and they do an amazing just spicing it up over the top (esp the lamb!) Parking can be interesting and eating in is very causal with ok service. I went here on a Friday night and asked for my noodles to be cooked with less oil. The request was noted on the receipt. When I got my order the request was clearly not taken into account and the noodles were extremely oily. This place runs on autopilot and over the years I have watched the quality steadily deteriorate. On a busy Friday night it did not appear that there was manager on duty to address my concerns. We were very impressed with the food, the quality of sourcing, the authentic and distinctive flavors and the packaging for takeout. We had an assortment of tandoori appetizers which were flavorful and awesome followed by Lamb Biriyani, Goat Curry (which was easily one of the best we've ever had), Chicken Tikka Masala, Dhal and cucumber salad. Every dish was simply outstanding. In addition, we enjoyed a few deserts from the bake shop which were fantastic. Specifically, the Rasmalai, Gulab Jamun and the pineapple bread pudding were distinctive and a beautiful way to complete an amazing Moghul meal. It's an express and then they charged us 15% service charge since we were a group of 6 people. I haven't been to any express places where they charge a service charge. Secondly the price of tea on the menu was $2.50 and they charged us $3.50; upon questioning we were told that the price went up but they did not have the time to print new menus. At $3.50, it's not even worth the price. We got Anda parathas and they came with 2 South Indian style only heated (not fresh) parathas. It's a Moghul restaurant so you would expect North Indian style parathas. I guess they need to communicate with customers before charging them; since there are so many discrepancies in their menu and pricing. Got takeout food from here. I'm a big fan of their chicken dishes. The chicken hyderbadi was so flavorful and perfectly spiced. I also got some kind of drumsticks which I forgot the name, but they were the best drumsticks I ever had! The marinade they used had so much flavor and the drumstick also had the smokey flavor you get from grilling but without it being burnt. I don't know how they do it! The malai kofta was very good as well, except i wasn't a fan of their koftas cause they were made from paneer. Stay away from the paneer tikka masala because it was so bland. Their naans were nice and soft exactly the way i like it. They made everything quickly. The naan stayed hot by the time i got home because they use those thermal bags for them. Very smart. As a huge foodie, I cannot believe this place has a low rating and such bad reviews! I would say I have very high standards when it comes to Indian food and this place knows how to meet them. This place is an all-time favorite of mine. Good quality, delicious Indian cuisine for very reasonable prices. They have an array of food to choose from. North Indian, South Indian, Indo-Chinese, Thai, and Indian snacks as well as dessert. I tend to get take-out a lot from here as the place itself is usually packed and the service isn't exactly impeccable. Food wise, it's almost always on point. Sometimes it could be a bit lacking in spices for me, but usually they're generous with it if you tell them beforehand. There are three main reasons I go here: Keema Dosa, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Ghosht Saagwala. However, there are many other great dishes. The samosa chat was full of bold, delicious flavors and the uppathum and Manchurian fried rice had wonderful textures and flavors. I absolutely don't understand the low ratings for this place. To be honest, I would probably give Moghul Express an overall 4.5 if that were an option (few notches for what's sometimes rude service and what's usually not the cleanest bathroom) but since the ratings seem so off (in my opinion) I will happily up it to a 5 instead of going down to a 4 for this rating. Hope that makes sense to people reading the review. This place has hands down the best biryani I've had in the tri state area. Their mutton biryani is so damn delicious! A bit on the spicy side, but really perfectly flavored and very addictive. So good, in fact, that a few times a year a bunch of our friends will rent a car and drive 1.5 hours to Edison just for the biryani. No joke! Other than the biryani I've had the dosas and chaats here which were also delicious. The bhel and aloo papdi chaat are my favorite, and the vegetable samosas are super yummy with a steaming cup of masala chai. Hits the spot! There's also a decent selection of sweets, and I believe they also have an Indo-Chinese buffet. Lots more to try on the menu but we go there mostly for the biryani. Finger licking good. read more

My family and I will not be ordering food from here anymore but mainly out of principle - We have been ordering food from this restaurant for about 10 years now. My mother and grandmother are JAIN so they cannot eat meat. 4 weeks ago we ordered Veg Manchurian and in return we were given Chicken Manchurian. From the outside they both look the same so not knowing this, my mother and grandmother took a bite and obviously noticed the difference. Brought this up with management and its now been 4 weeks since we've yet to get a call back from him. We've called countless times but seems like they don't care. Today we ordered again and instead of dal makhani, we were given some random chicken dish. Manager does care whatsoever to even return a simple phone call. If he had just called to apologize, hey that would have been perfectly fine we are all human and make mistakes but its the ignorance that really irked me. My sisters and I came here today at 4:26 pm and the food was awesome. The service was TERRIBLE. One of the waiters ignored us until we asked to be served. He slammed the plates on the table and was very rude and unprofessional. He never smiled even. He asked an old woman with her son/grandson who came for takeout to get up from the tables. There were many tables free too. Then his friends came to eat and he completely changed. He was so kind and courteous. This waiter had a tattoo on his left arm and it's possibly a Hindi word.
