We (mostly) lived all the food so I would definitely recommend coming here. We ordered - Drums of Hell - very nice, we were expecting Chicken Lollipops but these come in a thick gravy - not what we expected but tasted great. Lotus Root in Honey Garlic - a bit too sweet for my taste. I wouldn't order this dish again Gobhi Manchurian - this is a classic Indian-Chinese dish and they do it to perfection! Chili Chicken Hakka Style - our waiter recommended this to us out of the various chicken dishes they have on the menu and it was a winner! Shredded Lamb in Ginger with Spring Onions - an amazing flavor profile - spicy, gingery and garlicky perfection! Loved this! Chicken Fried Rice - a must have accompaniment to the food. While it does not have anything unique about it, it is exactly what you would expect from a gobi manchurian. - burnt garlic fried rice (6/10): vegetable fried rice with hints of garlic. I was not a huge fan of this one because I could not taste enough flavor to distinguish it from the other type of rice. When paired with an entree it provides a nice base. - Szechuan fried rice (8/10): vegetable fried rice with garlic and schezuan peppercorns. I liked this one better because the schezuan peppercorns added a floral heat. It also works well with most of the entrees, though if you are sensitive to spice then be careful. - vegetable manchurian (6/10): deep fried vegetable coins in a sweet and sour gravy. This one was just okay. The vegetable coins were still crispy which I liked. I wanted more flavor in the gravy. - mapo tofu (8/10): silken tofu in a spicy sauce with peas and carrots. We visited Ming this afternoon, and the experience was fantastic. The interior and ambience were inviting, and the food was even better. We ordered Drums of Heaven, Cumin Lamb, Tso's Chicken, Burnt Chilli Garlic Chicken Noodles, and Thai Chicken Fried Rice - all with medium spice, and each dish hit the perfect level of flavor and heat. More not to like than to like at supposedly one of the best Chinese restaurants in NJ. Drink and food prices are ridiculously expensive. While one of the entrées was delicious (chili shrimp), the rest of our food was extremely mediocre (hot and sour soup for both of us and she had chicken lettuce wraps.) In summary, we each had a drink, we each had a soup, and we each had an entrée and the bill was $125! To top things off, for a party of two, they added a 20% tip onto the bill without telling us! Great service! Was seated when we got to the restaurant. When you walk in, the restaurant feels inviting and warm, it's good for a family dinner spot. I got the lunch special in which you get an entree, choice of soup, and fried rice or noodle dish. I recommend the vegetarian options over the non veg menu. I highly recommend the vegetarian noodles and the veg manchow soup. Be sure to ask for the chili vinegar when your food comes. It enhances the dishes. I would avoid ordering the ginger lamb and the chili chicken. I found they had a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste so I wouldn't order that again. Overall, good service, good veg food. Veggie manchurian was great, however, the staff got confused by how we ordered the dry vs wet version so be weary of that. The sweet corn soup never misses- i get this everytime i go. Its the perfect amount of sweet and savory and has the perfect balance of flavors- also it feels light but its super filling! Chili tofu has a good soft texture. Upon reading mixed reviews, I still thought we should try it as I was craving for Indian Chinese.. so just 2 of us had lunch We ordered the 2 soups after good reviews.. - lemon coriander (it was green in color, lot of lemon and less flavorful) - manchow (not the greatest soup I have tried, too hot that it could burn your tongue) Soups were served with "no flavor sev" Had to order the pineapple and cracked black pepper drink (FOMO fear). It was good! Main course- firstly, the dishes should have been the price and quantity of lunch portions They were full priced! Tried Steamed Shrimp Dim Sums for the first time and it's pretty yummy which's served with chili sauce. And the next item was Fishermen SeaFood Clay Pot which is a mixture of both fish and crab claw in a spicy Sa cha sauce and it was the best out of all, bit spicy but super yummy. Guys, I have a sincere request not to visit here unless you have free money. After you finish your food, these guys automatically charge 22-25 % extra in the name of service charges. Valentine's day is probably not the best day to dine here - everything seemed rushed and impersonal. This has been a staple place for special occasions for us - but this visit was after a rather long break, and boy has this place slipped two-three notches. While it's still $$$, gone is that special feeling of personalized service. We ordered hot-n-sour veg soup and no complains there. Crisp Cauliflower Manchurian as an appetizer lived up to the billing. For entrees we ordered three - spicy garlic noddles, crunchy veg manchurian, and chili paneer plus a side of jasmine rice (entrees don't come with rice!). Believe it or not, could not make any distinction between the sauces of chili paneer and veg manchurian. There was no subtlety in the taste - thick sauce and a bit on the salty side. The spicy garlic noodles were very unremarkable and were served in a bowl that was overflowing with noodles - how sloppy for such a pricey place! It just shows that they had prepared these in bulk in advance so that they could turn the tables a high-demand day. Valentine day is special - the dinner here on that day tho was anything but. I have mixed feelings about Ming. We went on a Monday night and were immediately seated. The restaurant has a cool/formal atmosphere which I liked a lot. Our server had a lot of suggestions which was nice. He was able to explain what the dishes were like. We ordered soup, an appetizer, two entrees, and rice. Starting off on a high note, the shrimp dim sum style was excellent. I practically fought for the last one. Really excellent. The Tum Yum soup was good as well, except our server told us it "wasn't very spicy" and it actually was. It was bearable and tasty, though. It was a $1 up charge to split it, which he didn't tell us until after, but that's fine. Unfortunately, entrees came next. This would have easily been a four star review if they never came out. The vegetable massman curry was pretty good but not my favorite. The chicken Manchurian was lackluster. Both dishes were far spicier than we asked for but, again, since we enjoyed it, I was OK with it. We ordered two rounds of rice and I thought we made pretty clear that we wanted the small size. We were two people and we were shocked at how big the servings were. When we asked later, our server told us that we had explicitly ordered this, which wasn't true. Although he took this off the bill (after we mentioned it twice), he seemed reluctant to do so. Honestly, a small was $3 and the large was $6, but it was the principal of the whole thing. It seemed like we were up charged on everything we ordered. Dinner came to under $60 for two people, which was awesome. I would consider coming back and giving the place a second try, but I prefer Moghul next door (same owners). read more

After moving to the Bay Area, Ming is a MUST have every time I come back home. The food is consistently bomb. Granted they are slightly pricey and not your everyday restaurant. Portions are huge! Ming was always the go-to celebratory place. Also, they are BYOB - which is a HUGE added bonus! Fantastic food and service. Went in a group of 30 people and enjoyed our lunch very much. Ming recommended a pre fixe menu for about $35 per person and it included 3 appetizers, a soup, a drink, 4 entrees and a mix of desserts. No headache/ hassle of ordering enough food, and the waiters kept bringing out more servings as they saw us finish the dishes. They had mango lassi and pina coladas prepared so we were never waiting for a drink. Best part is, everyone got their own plate of dessert! Well food was great but service was bad. Our waiter would keep coming to tables next to ours for serving things but would look at us or ask us if we needed something. Our first drink came after 1/2 an hour and then he disappeared again. Everything just kept coming at intervals after that but our server did not keep coming to see if we needed another round of drinks. The food we ordered was spicy so we needed water regularly but no one came for refills of water unless in the end I had to call out and ask for some water. Horrible Service Secondly the worst thing is that they charged us a 20% Service fee for our order for a party of 2 people. The menu said that gratuity will be added to party of 4 and above. We didn't even look at the pricing before ordering because we were so confident about thBut the food was sooo BAD! And we were hit with an expensive bill, so not worth it at all! The soup was turmeric water! No taste! And fried rice was no where close to fried rice. If only I had a few pics to add to my review. Worst indo- Chinese ever. Went for lunch when I got seated outside with really loud music that we asked them to turn it off, so that was fine. But the food was all the same, sour and no flavor!!!! For me though only if it is vegetarian :) So to start off I always order their spicy coriander soup or hot and sour soup. Lately I have been going for the spicy coriander because I am hooked. This stuff is amazing. The regular size order is fairly large. I guarantee you if you have a small appetite like me it will fill you up. However, good thing is if you come with someone they will split 1 bowl into 2 so you can enjoy your soup and not have to worry about not finishing it or having too much. The last time I was here was two weeks ago , ordered the spicy coriander soup, lotus flowers for the appetizer . The lotus was sweet, I wasn't a big fan of it because I don't like sugar in my meals however the people I came with loved it. For the meal ordered, the schezwan fried rice, chili garlic fried rice, the paneer, white rice, brown rice and the veg Manchurian. This is what I always order and its amazing. Their white rice is actually really good I can eat it just on its own. But really if you are looking for a good high end indo Chinese place, this is the place to go. We really felt nostalgic as its so difficult to find a good indochinese restaurant in US. We requested for outdoor sitting and we were a party of 3 adults and 1 infant in stroller. So needed a little space for the stroller. The server simply refused to get us seated even though we were willing to accommodate the stroller in any space.
