I have been going to this place past 20yrs. This was my first visit since the pandemic. I was pleasantly surprised that they had outdoor seating and beautifully set up. Our server Valentine was on top as far as service was concerned. Once we were done he got my daughter and us complimentary ice creams. I felt the pandemic got the best out of everyone including Ming. We are talking about a high end Indian restaurant in Edison We spoke to the manager and he was so non chalant about it. I am not at all excited about writing this review. Our whole family decided to meet up here for dinner. Made a reservation for 7 pm. Started off with sweet corn soup. It was average. Main course we got pepper chicken, chili chicken, chili lamb and eggplant with garlic Szechwan sauce. Honestly all the curries tasted the same and not very good either. Vinegar was kinda overpowering in all the dishes. Rice and noodles were not bad. I have been to this place 4-5 yrs ago and it was really good. They quality has gone down a lot. I was disappointed. For all you guys who are confused at the concept of Indian Chinese cuisine, you need to visit India or ask an Indian FOB (like me) and experience the popularity of this variation of Chinese food. Indians are crazy for Indian Chinese food and all my trips to India include on dinner at a good Indian Chinese place. What is Indian Chinese? Combine the various chinese dishes that we have come to love in the last 10 years and add some Indian spices and lots of love and you get Indian Chinese! For me it is a never ending romance that started when I was a kid :) So I had heard of Ming for a long time and wanted to visit this place nestled in the heart of mini India in Edison, NJ. Luckily for me, I was at my aunts for Thanksgiving 2008. And what could be better than 3 days of never ending gluttony but Sunday lunch at Ming??? So there we were, all 8 of us, making the one hour trek in blinding rain along the Garden State Parkway to satisfy our desire for some good Indian Chinese food... The restaurant is on the back side of a mall but I immediately liked the decor and ambiance inside the restaurant. The staff and service were good - not great. Our server was very helpful in helping us decide what to order. We ordered family style and so I was able to get a taste of everything. The food is spicy in general so please make sure to specify taste at the time of placing the order. Appetizer: Spicy Coriander soup - Spicy but this is an all time favorite of my aunts and it lived up to its reputation - 5 stars Hot and sour soup - not bad Wonton soup - same as Hot and Sour soup Cauliflower Manchurian - Excellent - best appetizer - 5 stars Assorted Crispy Vegetables with Chili Sauce - 3 stars Chicken Tree - drumsticks with herbs. It was spicy and not as good as the other appetizers - 3 stars Main Course: We ordered a mix of dishes that we shared among all of us. The one thing I did not like was we had to order rice separately and was not included with the entre. For a restaurant like this and with these prices, rice should be part of the entre in my opinion. I had heard much hype about Ming being a great Chinese Indian place, however was quite disappointed. The prices they charge for what they offer are highway robbery. The food was middling, sweet and sour was bland, the seafood clay pot had no clay pot and little crab, etc. The atmosphere and decor was cheesy for the price point, there were chipped dishes, ripped and dirty upholstery, etc. For this, prices were 17+ per dish, including $6 for a bowl of white rice. When dessert came, I felt ripped off for ordering the Ais Kacang, which turned out to be a small bowlful of shaved ice with some condiments and food coloring. I have had the same dish prepared much better, twice the size and half the price at Pinang. To be frank, that can be said for most of their dishes, compared to Masala Wok, Chinese Mirch, Nanking, etc. to name a few restaurants. Thoroughly disappointing. read more

We've ordered two cocktails, grilled pine apple& cracker pepper martini and SM23 lychee martini. Both were "okish". Then we had Tom yum soup which was good. Indo-Chinese cuisine is one of my favorite kind of cuisine. We have tried a couple of restaurants around Jersey City, Nanking , China Spice but the food was really disappointing. Ming did not disappoint and I am so glad for that. The Manchow soup we ordered was delicious;there were lots of veggies in the soup and the flavors were just right. For main course, we had the Chilli chicken and fried rice. The chicken was spot-on, not overly chewy and doughy like I have had in some other restaurants. It was really spicy, if you can't handle the spice stay away from it. The fried rice was ok. Service was great. Our server checked on us a couple of times and asked us if we liked the dishes, if the Chilly chicken wasn't too spicy for us. I am not giving the restaurant 5 stars, because it was pricy. I definitely want to come back here. There's usually a long waiting time at the restaurant, so you might want to make reservations. Really great Indian-Chinese food. I believe the owners own several restaurants including multiple locations of Mithaas, Mogul, and of course Ming's. I was impressed by the quality of the food here. Everything was super tasty, well seasoned, and just very enjoyable. T We ordered a bunch of stuff and all of it was great. But a few notes: - Cauliflower manchurian is a great starter and I would definitely recommend it - Chicken dishes were solid but definitely not as good as the other stuff in my opinion -Sizzling lamb is delicious and different than other Indian and Chinese lamb dishes I've had -Eggplant with paneer is as weird as it sounds. Not bad, per se, but kind of odd; wouldn't recommend it since there is definitely better stuff on the menu -Crispy Fried Mushrooms were the best dish in my opinion. Really awesome (same sauce as the manchurian dishes or you can choose szechwan sauce instead) As mentioned, the food is excellent but the service was also spot on. They accommodated our party of ten without any issues and the server was courteous, funny, and amicable. My brother is allergic to soy sauce and a bunch of other stuff and therefore couldn't eat almost anything on their menu. They allowed him to order from the Mogul menu and brought the food over from next door. Prices aren't cheap but they are definitely not bad for the portions and quality. Asian Indian fusion definitely top of my list of foods to eat now. Upon my arrival after opening the initial door there were two options a door to the left which is one restaurant and Ming to the right. The host was very pleasant and helpful when providing me with the menu and explaining the food options on the menu since it's an Indian Asian fusion. I was seated by the waiter. The staff was VERY attentive which was great. The place was fairly busy with groups, definitely a great group place to dine, and the waiters managed to not let my cup of water be empty. I took a glimpse at the menu since I already knew what I was interested in prior to being seated due to my encounter with the host. They offer a variety of choices, fish, vegetables and vegan options all infused with Indian spices. They're desert menu was short but sweet. Mostly fruits and ice cream. All offered ice cream. My waiter brought me out a complementary small dish of their Kimchi which was way different then what I'm use to from Korean style kimchi. This was diced cabbage with a sweet and spicy seasoning. I took a few bites not bad but the spices were a bit over powering for my taste. My food was brought out to me in a timely fashion. The bowl was filled to the very top which is great. It can be shared by two if ordered. I was happy with my choice but wished it would have had more chicken. It was for sure lacking in the meat department. I got more egg then anything else but can't complaint he tumeric was absorbed by the egg and gave them a spicy taste. Overall the food was great. I enjoyed it. I can probably count on one hand, restaurants whose quality of food and service has stayed consistentently amazing over a period of time, dare I say over a LONG period of time. Actually I can count it on one finger... haha! I honestly can't think of ANY spots that have churned out the same aromatic and delicious food over years, let alone over a decade! Yea, this is the only restaurant I know that has remained excellent or perhaps even gotten better like fine wine, ( they now have a liquor license too!) You still are treated like family, the managers make sure to check in and see how your dinner is. The waitstaff is courteous and prompt. I always wanted to try Ming's as I love the Moghul restaurant next door frequently. I finally gave it a try and wasn't impressed. Staff was pleasant and courteous, decor is nice, but food is so-so. The dishes are served in overflowing bowls (very unaesthetic) so it's hard to spoon out the food without spilling on the table. As mentioned by others, the prices are well above what we usually pay in Chinese restaurants and we didn't feel it was worth the money. We went to Ming on November 30th, 2019. We were 20 of us. We ordered quite a lot of chicken dishes . One of us got sick at the restaurant itself. The rest of us progressively got sick after we got home. It was clearly a case of food poisoning. The little ones suffered the most as they got an upset stomach and fever. We have been going to Ming for more than 15 years and never experienced anything like this before. Needless to say we will be avoiding it in the future. read more

Had Ming cater an event at home. The ordering process with Shekar was the best ordering experience compared to a few other places i called to discuss the menu options. He was open to suggestions and willing to have us come in and sample a few items before deciding. On the day, they came on time and the 2 people that came and stayed to prepare and setup were extremely courteous and helpful - they even helped clean up the used plates from tables, empty garbage bins etc. Food was very good [ based on guests feedback ]. I've been to many Indo-Chinese restaurants in US but this by the best hands dow. Ever since its opening in 2011, we've been going to this place. It's located on Oak Tree Road in Edison and is part of the Mehtani Restaurant group. Parking is never an issue - right in front and ample available. The decor is like in a typical Chinese restaurant and the ambience great. Menu has plenty of choices - I've tried many of their things during multiple visits and this place always exceeds my expectations. There are many vegetarian options and they will add ingredients or vary spice levels if asked. Started with the Drums of Heaven spicy wings. They are served on the bone like a chicken wing - served in herbs, chillies and onion mix. There were 6 of them in one dish and were Spicy and very tender. Also had the Coriander soup for a starter. Is mild tasting but if you add the vinegar and chilli sauce it adds a flavor to it. For those who do not want to have the full cup they will split it into two and bring it out in two cups. I brought half of it back home and reheated it the next day and it still tasted great. For the main course we went with chilli chicken hakka style which is our all time favorite. These are chicken balls served in very little thick curry and was excellent. Perfect spice level Also had the Chicken Manchurian and hakka noodles vegetarian - both of these again tasty and good fusion dishes. Our all-time favorite here is American Chopsuey - we got it with chicken, it is cooked in soy sauce which is on top of crispy noodles. The soft chicken and the crispy noodles combination is just great. We always ask for the fried egg on top of the noodles - for those who do not care for that can ask that to be removed. Portion size is plentiful. The only negative point of this restaurant is that we end up ordering too much food because most of the dishes are so good. But then we have plenty of leftovers which we bring back and they're as good the next day on reheating. They have mints on the check in counter for after dinner mouth freshener. Very friendly service. Sometimes on weekends and peak timings when the restaurant is full, service gets a bit slow and the wait period for food becomes more. Would highly recommend this place for a pleasant dining experience. My reason for giving 4 stars and not 5 is the gratuity which is added to your bill automatically and price wise a little on the expensive side - if the food is satisfactory then you do not mind this. read more

Extremely disappointed in the food. I haven't been back to this place in a few years but we would come as a family a lot. And I remember the food being a lot more memorable. Me and my brother got the fried chili shrimp for the app. It was just frozen coconut shrimp in some sauce that wasn't very flavorful. The chili garlic noodles weren't anything special and the shrimp curry was okay. To top that off they tried to charge us for rice? Which should come with a curry. Curry is always served with rice and to Charge 25 bucks for an entree and not include it is absurd. Running between kids Sunday classes and last moments planning we decided to go to Ming on Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were there around 12.30 PM and got surprised to find restaurant full then the realization came that it is Mother's Day. At reception we were told that they are only honouring reservations. Although when we explained that we will be leaving soon, they were kind enough to accommodate us. Ming has always been our favourite restaurant with great food and service. Not a big fan. I'd heard good things about this restaurant so I was excited to go. We ordered a good amount of food for three of us, a mix of vegetarian and meat. The appetizers came out in a timely manner. The crispy lotus roots weren't that crispy and were sweeter than expected. The chicken lettuce wrap was decent but nothing special. The main entrees took a very long time to come out- I suspect they forgot, remembered when we asked, and reheated the food because it didn't taste fresh. Everything tasted the same and the chicken was rubbery. We barely put a dent in any of the dishes. I definitely won't be going back. I should've stopped there, how can such a classic dish please so terribly prepared and STALE, The best dishes were the chili garlic noodles and crispy lotus. And now the service. Waited 45 minutes to an hour in between courses, and had to stop one of the wait staff to request that they take our order each time. Forgot items on our order, including the requested drinks. And to top it all off, 20% Service charge included for a party of 3 for shameful service - might as well be a food court for self servive. Lost it's standard of quality. This the second time out of numerous occasions we have been there. But the only difference was it was a take out and the food wasn't even properly cooked..you could taste the uncooked sauces and spices laying there staring blankly along with the rest of the things, be it the chicken or something else. This is the perfect place for indo-Chinese food. We love the food always but today's experience was really really great. Ganesh made it special. We asked for his suggestions for some specific taste. He went out of his way and gave the food which we not liked but we loved it. We weren't expecting this service, I really appreciate for this kind of service.
