We have been to this place a couple of times for dinners and lunches, every time we have a different experience, some good and some not so good. There are good vegetarian options and the service is pretty good. Sometimes the experience with the waiters was not so good maybe coz they are really busy on weekends. read more

I'm honestly surprised that Moghul has only 3 stars on yelp, after being around for so many years. That being said it doesn't deserve more. I recently went back after many years, and the place has deteriorated in many ways. The food was so so, the service was rude. I actually didn't feel good the next day after eating the food. This may all have to do with a change in management. read more

Cannot say anything negative. The service and food were spectacular. I hope their business continues to thrive.

Only speaking for what I tried. Paneer tikka, could have been a little spicier buy really good. One of the best I've had in the US. Veg chili garlic noodles, totally awesome. I'll be back soon. read more

Awesome food. Awesome Service.Hosted a Bday party with 14 ppl. The food tasted great. Everything was served well and on time. Totally recommend it read more

One of my favorite Indian food places to go. I love their chicken biryani and the species used to make it. If you ever visit it then don't forget to order it. read more

For a famous restaurant, we were unimpressed with the poor quality of their establishment (inc hygienic set up, bathrooms with broken tiles etc) and somewhat uninspiring fare. Wait staff is attentive albeit somewhat stretched to be timely. read more

My wife and I drove an hour and a half, on her birthday, at the recommendation of our Indian friends. We ordered a bottle of wine and they put it on our table, no ice bucket. There was no onion chutney with our mint and tamarind sauces, a disappointment. My wife and I both ordered chicken dishes and the deliverer just put them down on the table, rattled the names off very quickly and didn't ask who got what. Well, after we finished, we found out that we ate each others food. To say the least, one was mediocre and the other was okay. Our few Indian restaurants in the Lehigh Valley are far superior to Moghuls. When I got the bill, I was suprised that we were charged $7 for rice; I told our waiter when we ordered (he asked what kind of rice we wanted), that we will take whatever rice comes with our meals. The final straw was after my wife was seated at our table (I dropped her at the door because of the rainy/misty weather), I told the manager that it was her birthday today, that we had driven an hour and a half at our friend's recommendation, could they put a candle in some ice cream or something; he said no problem. Nothing came, even after we got the bill and then paid it. My wife was disappointed to say the least and I was very embarrassed; we have been married for almost 34 years and this has never happened before. I stepped away from the table and asked our server for the manager. He told me that he was the assistant manager and would get something now; I told him that it was too late. When we walked out, the manager was at the front desk and I asked him, don't you remember it's my wife's birthday. His response was, oh I'm sorry, we'll get her something now..............We definitely won't be back and will certainly relate our disappointing experience to our friends. read more

This is one of the best, classic Indian restaurants in the area. It's been here for ages and the food is always rich and luxurious! There are always specials and don't be afraid to ask the waiters for suggestions. Chances are, they can even make something special for you! They do get quite busy on weekends so don't worry about the service. The food speaks for itself! read more

Excellent Indian food; we go here as a family and with work staff. Buffets are great on weekdays or weekends. Well worth the drive and money. Ming next door is also very good for Chinese fusion Indian. read more

we had our wedding anniversary party there and the manager Ved was very co-operative. I couldn't come visit the hall prior to booking so he sent videos to get idea. Sunday buffet was pretty good with varieties and taste. Specially good for Indian people..They gave us an extra sabji besides the buffet. They helped in decorating the hall, arranging projector, provided to busboys for help throughout the event.. Highly recommended !! read more

Simply delicious. Well known among Indian Asians.... so you know it's got to be pretty good.

Moghul has been a restaurant my family and I have been going for over a decade. The atmosphere is phenomenal and does a great job in highlighting some of the traditional accents of Indian/Asian cuisine. The food is simply delicious. As bad of an approach this might sound, I put "waiting time" as an important metric in judging Indian food. If a restaurant takes virtually no time in bringing out the dishes, I assume that its not made fresh and was rushed in the kitchen. But these guys certainly take their time and the wait is well worth it! Unfortunately, I find the place a little too pricey compared to other great Indian restaurants I've tried (despite the amazing quality of their dishes). Secondly, the reason I'm giving this place a 3 star is because of the restaurant's disgusting bathrooms! It's strange that a place with such beautiful decor and elegance lacks clean bathroom facilities (Ladies and gents). read more

Went again for dinner over the weekend. It's been my go-to place for Indian food in New Jersey. Hats off to the chef as everything I've had has been delicious, from the curries to the nan, the tandoori selection and the desert. The tandoori and grilled meats are so melt in the mouth delicious. The meat isn't dry and is so well marinated. I like the service the staff provides and the ambiance. read more

This place it self is good to be at, environment vise, but the food is below average and sometimes really bad. i tried this place for a few times as i prefer to give more chances to restaurants to make sure i don't miss something really good due to first bad impression(fluke). but this place is really bad. their food is pricey considering quality and taste of food and also sometimes waiters are rude. read more

My favorite Indian food place in the area. I really like the Lamb Biryani. The curries are very good. The quality of the food here is very good. A place where you can bring your family or but also have a dinner for two. The staff is always very nice. read more

Great place. We have been coming here for 20 years. The quality of the food is consistently good. Ambience can sometimes be loud but for service and Indian food you can't do better read more

Highly recommended !! Food was delicious and the service was great..I dont think you can go wrong with this place, all in all very good.

The legend continues , still the reigning king of Indian fine dining in Nj. I've been going here since literally it's opening week some 20 years ago. The formula has not changed . Consistent taste and quality of food , great hospitality and now amazing drinks to boot. Nothing approaches moghul in all 3 of these aspects . The food is authentic in the most genuine way , in fact friends from India say it holds its own when compared to restaurants in the motherland. The ctm is like a drug I need to come back at least once a month for it. It's memory never completely leaves you. The grilled or dry meat are equally phenomenal. Try the weekend specials. They feel like they been marinating for weeks. Dessert is also legendary the kulfi falooda is hard to top anywhere. With the addition of a nicely crafted drink list the experience is truly complete. Try the English garden or one of the many other creative libations. Please moghul keep the formula intact another 20 yrs so long as I am around I will keep coming back- to the king. And as last mention the people do truly make the place imo , you will not find a better more courteous and energetic crew anywhere - another throwback To India . Jai ho. read more

Superb food! Their lamb chops are amazing and roghun ghost curry was superb!! Their cocktails were not that great though. Its a bit on the costlier side too. read more

I tried to make reservations 2 weeks in advance of mothers day but was denied reservations stating that they werent taking reservations. We walked into the restaraunt and found out that they actually were taking them. We were treated rudely by the staff. The food wasnt good at all. Not very good; the standard has fallen dramatically - used to be much better. Today, it is over priced and the food quality is mediocre. Try Rasoi II down the street on Oak Tree Rd; it is much better. read more

This restaurant used to be our favorite for last 5 years since we lived in the area. Recently it was sold to new management and staff has changed as well. Now this is one of the worst places to go, food was horrible when we went few weeks ago, servers were pushy to hurry us up and clear tables for more customers and prices are high as before that does not justify with quality being dropped so much. Think twice before going here. read more

This place only wastes time & money. I went there around 9 pm on Saturday evening . It was busy but not that busy. It seemed that they only have one chef preparing food for the evening. I waited for one hour & not even appetizer was served to us. My children got cranky & we had to leave that place after an hour & fifteen minutes of wait. We got our food packed. My experience was really bad. Which restaurant makes you sit for one hour before serving appetizer? Really pathetic service.Even the food was not great when we ate that at home. This place has horrible wait time. Avoid. read more

Been to their lunch buffet twice and dinner a couple times.Once each several years ago and then recently. Food taste each time was very mediocre and boring. Not sure how they managed to get such a high reputation. Service was slow and the plates were not cleared or water glasses refilled. Beware they add an 18 percent gratuity even for lunch buffets on groups less than six. This is highway robbery. Very disappointed. read more

Foods are craps.... First gave stale. Some another day my friend found hair in her dish. Not hygienic at all.

This is a very solid Indian restaurant situated in the very competitive market of Edison, NJ. I have been to it a number of times and always have left feeling satisfied with the cuisine and service. read more

just spent mothers day having lunch at Moghul. Having heard good things about this place we waited the 50 minutes it took to get seated. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing! with added service charge fee on the buffet which made the cost $21/person. Not worth the trouble!! read more

I've been to many Indian restaurants all over the world and Moghul is definitely in the top tier. My family and I have become regulars because the food is extremely delicious and the ambience and service is fantastic. For starters, the restaurant is BYO which is a big win but also gives you the option of purchasing beer/wine at the restaurant. When you are seated, you are served Lijjat Papad (some of the best papad from Mumbai) accompanied with their tomato, tamarind and coriander chutneys. For appetizers, we typically get the Murg Tikka Tandoori which is very tender and succulent. I love lots of caramelized onions in my tandoori and Moghul happily caters to that request. For main course, we've at some point or the other have tried each of the chicken entrees; all of them are great but of course our favorite is the murg makhani (a staple Indian entrée). For desserts, we always stick to the malai kulfi which is pretty much as good as malai kulfi can get; it is very creamy/rich and melts in your mouth. Prices are at par with fine dining restaurants in the area (eg. Urban Spice). Over the years, a lot of restaurants in the area rush the dining experience in order to increase turnover (eg. Rasoi) but Moghul ensures you have a fine dining experience. PS. We always try to get Phillip as our waiter because he is fantastic; he is super friendly and takes the time to walk you through the menu if necessary. read more

So 2nd time in a row they misplaced my order. This place is becoming disgusting in terms of service and getting expensive. Perhaps its typical indian style. This was my last order here.... read more

Its most worst food that I ever had. They don't even care of their business. I had to returned my food twice and all curry were frozen. All curry were made right from cane. We got replacement of Malai Kofta that without even spice, Salt and kofta was right from refrigerator. Besides all roti was all burned and I had to return those too. They don't have even courtesy. I would not recommend to anyone to go to this place. Cheap food...Waste of money. We came from Delaware and it's not worth it. Please don't go there and waste your money. I think this review will guide so many people from wasting their money and time. read more

Excellent food and service - entire staff is friendly and provides excellent service. We have been visiting this restaurant since 2001 and consider this the best Indian restaurant in Edison. Moghul is such an amazing restaurant that includes quick service, outstanding food, and an atmosphere that is truly beautiful. This is the best tasting Indian food in this area! Best Indian restaurant in Edison, hands down. Staff is very courteous & attentive. Every time we eat there it's a pleasure. The food is cooked to perfection and the atmosphere is something you would more expect to find in NYC. The fact that they have a liquor license is a big plus also. I think the best way to experience Moghul is eating family-style... That way you get to experience their wide range of specialties from lamb and chicken to vegetarian. So if you're looking for great Indian food in the Edison area, go to Moghul... You'll kick yourself for not going sooner. read more
