I went on a Saturday with my husband and it was busy but still had plenty of seating. We were promptly seated. They offered us aprons and hair ties, similar to Haidilao, which I really appreciated. We chose the regular AYCE that included the regular meats. The lamb was really delicious and super soft! They did not come out frozen like other places. I'd say start with 2 orders of meat per person. So we ordered 4 plates to start. You can choose any two soup flavors if you choose the dual pot option. I also asked for gloves to eat the crawfish and they gave us some! The stations looked to be mostly kept organized and clean. I did not like the plastic tongs. They were difficult to use imo. Food was pretty standard overall. You're definitely paying for the variety. Service was attentive and great. They even have a soft drink station if you like sodas. I got the plum juice. The meats were definitely the star. We only eat beef and lamb at hot pot and they were both so tender, soft, and seemed fresh! read more

Food: My most recent experience with Happy Lamb was during their anniversary weekend when they were having a promotion of $18.98 per person for AYCE. This experience likely doesn't reflect how this restaurant usually is because I have been here before and had a much better experience. I will still share our experience from this past visit, but keep in mind it's probably not representative of how they usually are. The basic AYCE menu (there is a premium option) includes unlimited meat (lamb, beef, marinated beef, chicken, and pork), drinks, and the other ingredients from the buffet bar (self-service). In the buffet bar, they have noodles, veggies, mushrooms, pumpkin, a variety of fishballs, gizzard, shrimp, squid, and other items. The selection isn't wonderful but also not bad for the price. There was no taro or enoki which are pretty common hot pot items. There is a sauce bar, some small snacks (wood ear mushroom, pickled cabbage, etc), fresh fruit, cakes, appetizers (spring rolls, fried bread with condensed milk, mala crawfish (awful quality and not edible), and fried rice), a soda fountain, and traditional Chinese dessert soups. During the peak lunch time, many dishes were out and not refilled; they also ran out of cups and plates for a long time. Fruits, scallions, several ingredients, and sauces were out and took a long time to refill. They even ran out of soda completely towards the end of the lunch rush. Again, it wasn't a great experience but likely was just a result of poor planning on the restaurant's part during a promotion weekend. Service: The staff was trying their best to keep up, and they were very friendly. Even though there was a lack of service, when we were able to get someone's attention, they were very nice and helpful. They seemed very understaffed for the first couple of hours of the lunch rush, but this isn't their fault. Ambiance: The restaurant is very big with several tables that can accommodate both small and large groups. Decor is nothing special, but the seating is comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant but not when they're packed! read more

First of all, the parking at this popular Asian mall in Edison was horrendous; you need to be mentally prepared, lest you get riled up and ruin your mood for a good meal. I remember this hot pot place from a long time ago when it was called Little Sheep. It was supposedly regrouped and rebranded as Happy Lamb in 2017. It is a bit old-fashioned in that instead of an individual hot pot for each seat, it offers one stove per table and up to two different broths for the pot. Also, aside from the proteins which you need to order through the wait staff, we get to grab the rest of the side ingredients ourselves, unlike at more modern hot pot places which must be explicitly ordered. In this way, I can take just one piece of calamari and one slice of winter melon, grab more if I like it without troubling anyone, just like at a regular AYCE buffet. Another plus is that it's finally possible to track your own items!!! The thinly sliced meats are always nice. The mala beef was really spicy, even after swishing it in the broth a few times. The giant prawns were the star of the pot--so sweet and tasty--until I realized none were deveined, at which point I stopped eating them. The beverages (e.g. plum) and dessert soups (coconut sago and white wood ear), while sounded tempting, were all disappointing. They were poorly rendered and over-diluted. Service was on point. Ambiance was so so. Price was fair. 3.5 out of 5. read more

The food is good overall, and the same goes for the environment. However, during happy hour, be aware that she is both the manager and the host. Usually, she initially orders you large portions of meat, but then they become smaller, and they often delay asking if you want more or simply ignore you. I understand the concern about food waste, but giving two portions, waiting for more, and then unexpectedly bringing a check while still waiting for another portion isn't ideal, in my opinion. read more

I have been coming here for over a decade. They are also consistent. Service here is always efficient. There has been some recent changes with the buffet style self serve hotpot. Now there is buffet style for you to pick out your own veg, tofu, and shrimps. Self serve drinks dessert etc. They still take your order for meat and bring it to the table. We did the VIP hot pot which was 10 dollars extra and to be honest not worth the extra nothing to complain about but there isn't much extra you get, the regular menu has everything needed. My fave broth is mushroom and tomato, you can split your hot pot for different flavors. The lamb served here is always the best lamb ever. There are so many veg choices. Great family spot and group dining ! read more

I love to visit this restaurant when I am craving hot pot! I catch the lunch special which is $24.99/pp at specific hours and includes unlimited meats, drinks, and access to "buffet" which has a bunch of additions like noodles, veggies, and sauces for your broth. If someone isn't feeling soup, the buffet does have fried veggie spring rolls and shrimp fried rice. There are also more broths available in this area. Service is quick and staff is always around for questions or help. The restaurant is very clean and everything always tastes fresh. Give it a try! read more

My party of 4 visited on a Friday around 6:30pm and was seated promptly. The restaurant filled out throughout the evening. We opted for the regular ayce option for $31.99 per person. There was a number of meats to order from the waiter and you could get vegetables, mushroom, fishballs, noodles and other items yourself from the buffet area. There is also sauce bar and some cooked food to choose some. Soft drinks are also included in the ayce price. The meats came out relatively quick and wait staff were friendly. Overall, a good spot for hot pot if you want variety, and quality was on par of other ayce hot pot spots. read more

First time here on a Wednesday and already a long line before it opens at 12 noon. All you can eat and they have so many selections. They even come around and fill the pot with broth and not just water. I see why this place is packed on a Wednesday. Even the drinks are included not charged like other places. Only thing is bathroom is old and not very clean read more

Came in on a Friday night, yelp waitlist had no wait at 6:30 but when we arrived by 7:15 there were 6 parties ahead of us and a full restaurant so we waited probably 15 minutes for a table which was not bad. BYOB which was great. No cotton candy machine but they had a variety of seafood options, mushrooms, pickled pig ears/wood ear mushrooms, organ meats, vegetables all were fresh and were readily restocked. They also had some dessert soups off to the side including sago and red bean. Despite the restaurant being full our waiter was easy to get a hold of if needed but we didn't really need it since the portion sizes of the meat brought out was perfect. It wasn't too loud, it was clean, and the meats were fresh. Great deal and a great experience. read more

Happy Lamb Hot Pot - Classic menu with best of both world soup. Lamb, beef short plate, kurobuta pork. - Mongolian Near Me - Edison, New Jersey

I think this place is slightly overhyped. Couple of things: - Service: while I get that it's supposed to be self service, we felt a bit neglected. Seating was slow, nobody asked how we were doing, soup was evaporating with no refills - Broth: incredibly important part of hot pot in general but there broth wasn't especially flavorful. The spicy wasn't even spicy and it was very mid. No umami at all - Selection of meats / veggies were fine? Pretty average selection, nothing too special. Their fish balls are absolutely atrocious. My friend described it as "is this sh*t in the middle". Do not get that. - Also, there were so many flies? gnats?? around the produce EWWWW. One of the workers had to bring out their electric fly swatter and everything was just PAH PAH PAH so that makes me question the hygiene of the restaurant It's overall ~fine~ but I definitely don't think it's to die for read more

I havent been here and years and the set up has completely changed. It's now an AYCE hot pot place, with so many options. We came for dinner and got the classic menu. You have to order the meat options, but everything else is in the buffet section and there's a ton to choose from. There's a variety of seafood, vegetables and mushrooms, fishballs, and noodles, and also a sauce bar. Everything was fresh and the broth was nice. Service was quick and the meats we order came out fast. They have a few private rooms, otherwise it's casual seating. read more

So... I really enjoyed this place the first time I came. The second time, me and my boyfriend got food poisoning. I wasn't going to post a bad review, but I saw other people had the same issue just as recently as we did. I recall when I was there, some of the vegetables and greens looked unwashed. There was a clump of dirt sitting at the front of the tray of greens, so I didn't eat them but I still got sick. I really hope this place improves to be more sanitary. In the meantime, I'm going to try other places. read more

Been here probably 5 times and every time, its been a banger. Love the BYOB and the selection will not disappoint. Great for large groups or two people. Great with kids or no kids. My kids love this place. The AYCE was well worth and every time I come I have not been disappointed. They have a large selection of drinks and premier stuff in the back. They are very attentive that the pick and clean up your table with dishes. The only thing bad is that you have to reserve in person and no calling ahead. floors are a little bit on the sticky side and parking is easy. Although its in a high traffic area so sometime you got to park really far. read more

The last time I visited Happy Lamb (formerly Little Sheep) was before COVID, and I was curious to see how it's changed since then. While it's still all-you-can-eat, the experience is very different now. They've introduced different pricing tiers based on the variety of meats and drinks included, which is a nice touch for those who want more options. However, the restaurant is now largely self-service. Other than the cuts of meat, everything else--noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sides--needs to be picked up from the buffet line. While I appreciate being able to choose exactly what I want, I miss the convenience of having everything brought to the table. Overall, I found the experience underwhelming. The selection, quality, and pricing at KPot down the road are significantly better in my opinion. I much preferred the way Happy Lamb was run pre-COVID, and unfortunately, I don't see myself returning. read more

My go-to spot for hot pot I do recommend getting on the waitlist before heading in due to the popularity of this restaurant. There are about 3 plan options and all depend on what you want to eat. As a pescatarian I always get the base one and find myself still with so many options. What I do like about this location is that you have to get up and serve yourself the sides Often in AYCE I end up feeling so gross after but the fact I have to get up myself , prevents that feeling. It's also BYOB! read more

Kinda pricey and the food was decent. The pork and beef were a little hard to chew on, and their dessert selection is very small. The soup base was just ok. Service was 5/5 great. Great AYCE spot when you want some hot pot! They have a couple tiers depending on meat preferences. The food is very fresh and the broth is flavorful. In a town that's full of other hot pot options, I would say the food quality here is average. Nothing exciting about. The kids love the cotton candy machine and it is a big hit. Other than the hot pot food, they also offer a variety of cooked item as side dishes (buffet style). Service is one of the worst I had been. Overall, its a great place for a big gathering with adults and kids. However, not recommended if you are looking for high quality hot pot. read more

I had previously visited Happy Lamb with my family, and our first experience was so BAD!!! We all ended up with stomach aches and food poisoning right after eating. The buffet station was a complete mess, and the ingredients were sitting out at the wrong temperatures. AND they were looking like they had been picked over for hours. The meat was mediocre at best, and the soup was so off-putting.. I've been to many hotpot places, but this place was the only one I'd never drink the broth at. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and went back today with my boyfriend, hoping maybe we had just caught them on a bad day. Somehow, it was even WORSE!!!! We ordered the half-and-half broth (the spicy and mushroom) and both sides were AWFUL. The mushroom broth was so bland, tasting like watered-down dishwater, while the spicy broth was unpleasant, with a strange aftertaste that made us genuinely question whether it was safe to eat. Just one bite of meat from the spicy side nearly made me spit it out. It tasted old and poorly stored. The udon noodles from the buffet station were literally crumbling apart like they'd been sitting there all day. The buffet ingredients looked unkept and disorganized, with no sense of freshness or care. The smell of the restaurant itself was horrid, which only made the experience worse. Being in there did not feel real.. the servers didn't even check up on us once. We didn't even last 20-30 minutes before asking for the check. I truly wanted to give this place a second chance, but after two consistently awful experiences, I can confidently say I will never be returning. Please save yourself from this place!!! Came here for AYCE on a weekday lunch, where for just over $20, you can get a tasty hot pot meal. The $20 tier does come with regular lamb. There is a higher tier with higher quality meats, but it didn't seem to be to be worth the price differential (at least at lunch, as this tier does not have a lunch discount). I found the meat quality to be really good for AYCE. The pieces were not too fatty. The other good thing about the meat is that if you ask for larger servings, they actually give this to you (other places often just give a standard serving). I also appreciated that the non meat items were self service, so this way it was easy to get items without having to wait for a waiter to come take an order and then deliver. There really is a large variety of options available, so I think its great value (at lunch at least) Good service It is in the H mart plaza so parking can be chaotic read more

Standard hotpot place for ayce. Went at 4pm so didn't encounter the rush hour crowd but it was pretty empty and clean. Plenty of options for vegetarians and a mini buffet section as well. Broth was well seasoned and spicy and flavorful. Only gripe is I wish the meat and tofu were separated and not interspersed throughout the bar, it didn't seem planned out and one could easily grab the wrong thing read more

A friend and I went here after the spa in the same plaza. We were seated quickly. The restaurant is byob but we didn't know. Thankfully there is a liquor store also in the plaza. We celebrated my niece's birthday here. What fun! You get a large pot of boiling broth and cook your food family style. The staff is helpful in explaining what you need to do and are attentive in bringing replenishment of the meat. We ate here on a Wednesday evening, it was busy though not overly so. It was not loud, just the usual restaurant hum. You order the variety of meat, then go to the vegetable, shrimp and noodle bar to select (helping yourself) to augment the meat. We shared pork, garlic beef, lamb and another kind of beef. You can get a mild broth, a hot broth or a pot that has both. We also spun our own cotton candy for dessert. Recommended! read more

I tried Happy Lamb in Philly back in 2019 and thought it was ala carte but it looks like they switched to AYCE. We came here after going to two restaurants with extremely long wait times and were happy it was only a 5-10-minute wait. For dinner you can choose the standard or the premium option for higher quality meats/seafood. They were doing a special where the premium was $36/$37 instead of $40 so we opted for that option. Once we ordered our special items the other food choices were displayed buffet style. The quality of food was pretty good everything was fresh. They ran out of 2 broth options and the music was a bit too loud. But I did like the variety of options they had, and the unique drink options included in the premium option. Overall, it was a good experience, I would return. read more

Happy Lamb Hot Pot will always be my favorite hot pot spot!! It's an AYCE set up with three different tiers (cold bar, if you want sliced meats, and then a premium meats category). I've always enjoyed the house special, which includes fatty beef and lamb, among others! It's about $33 per person on weekends, so about standard as other AYCE spots. What makes Little Lamb special is the broth!! It is consistently the most flavorful hotpot broth I've tried, and there is usually no need for other dipping sauces. I think there's also a great selection of vegetables, seafood, and other meats in the buffet set up as well. The service for ordering meat is efficient and friendly. I love coming here, especially with family and friends, and don't plan to stop! read more

I love that they have a buffet style for all ingredients - it's not that common, most places for AYCE hotpot you order from a menu so they bring things out in set portions. Sometimes you just want to try a little something and now with buffet style you can portion it yourself, or if you LOVE an ingredient you can just load up on it without any shame. Pricing is very decent, there are different tiers if you want more premium ingredients or not. I'm sad we didn't come try this out until living in the area for over a year, but we'll definitely be back! Staff is nice and accommodating, I really have no complaints. The only thing is parking can be tough because it's in such a popular plaza, so sometimes you have to park in the far corners, but that's a problem for any spot in the plaza. read more

While I give the food a 4/5, I would give the service a 1 (it would have a 0, but a woman who works there switched over to help us at the very end). We were rushed to decide on our broth and meat. Once it arrived, no one checked on us for over an hour. After many tries, our server finally noticed us trying to wave them over and we ordered more meat. It took over 40 minutes - when we asked our server about it again, it seemed like he forgot to pick it up. It was crowded, but our table was the only one completely ignored. Seeing other tables get their broth filled up and meat twice while we were waiting was very frustrating. I went in so excited to try this place, so this was a real disappointment. read more

I went for the VIP Premium All-You-Can-Eat weekend dinner and opted for the two-flavor soup--one spicy and one original. As VIPs, we received wristbands that allowed us to access exclusive drinks that others couldn't get. The meats and seafood were fantastic, and the VIP package also included fruit, desserts, and ice cream. However, I was disappointed by the limited fruit and dessert options. While we could have one cup of ice cream each, I was hoping for more variety, especially given the high price. The soups, fish balls, and vegetables were all solid, and I have to mention that the sesame sauce was absolutely delicious with everything. Not to mention the servers were attentive and helpful when we had questions even though they were really busy that night! read more

This place is totally a joke! The taro desert soup is spoiled. And a died flyer floating on the soup another day! I informed the server. He don't pour the entire soup. He just picked the flyer out and brought the soup back! Rice is super hard. Appetizers are all empty. Server said no power in back kitchen. Soda machine is out of stock. Snack(peanut) all gone no refill. Server said out of stock. No server to clean table, change plate and bring water. Not even once. This place sucks! Will never go back again! read more

I've come here a few times to eat. The place has a nice selection of vegetables, noodles and other such foods to choose from. This Happy Lamb establishment has a bit of a different format. This place is essentially an all-you-can-eat hot pot buffet, where you get the items yourself from a designated bar area. There's 3 tiers that you can choose from: 1) the value, which is basically anything from the buffet bar selection, then 2) the house special, which includes various meats like lamb, and 3) premium, which comes with even more VIP items, free soft drink and dessert. My family and I got the original bone broth soup for the hot pot. We chose the house special option too. Pretty good! I will say, this place gets crowded a lot sometimes, especially on Friday and the weekends. I'd recommend coming during lunch on a weekday Monday through Wednesday or Thursday if possible, just to avoid more crowds and waiting times. read more

They advertised as 21.99 but actual price was 23.99 for lunch and the broth was super oily and greasy, there is no designated server, no one came to check on us or asked us if we need to order more, each time i had to call out random staff to place an order. But at least every staff i called to ask was pretty kind. Vegetables were mostly fresh but dried tofu? Was nasty i spat it out Meat choice was limited too I dont think i would go back. read more

Good food, they have a lot of options to choose from. Best fried chicken. The place is always busy. Will go again.

Went to happy lamb because it was one of the few places that lets you put in the ingredients yourself into your own hotpot. Unfortunately the quality of the food was just so terribly bad. I am sorry but for 38 dollars a person for it to be a buffet style with no service is a little disrespectful. It has the quality of a chinese buffet as well, the meat was terrible quality. Honestly the only way I could tell the difference between the wagyu, the ox tongue, the lamb, and the beef was by appearance. In terms of taste they were all exactly the same. The place really gave the vibe that it was a chinese buffet for 38 dollars a person. I really do not recommend this place, I am very shocked it received four stars. Between the entire hotpot we ate (all the greens, mushrooms, meats and seafood) we ate one of their chicken wings, which was really good. So I guess there is a silver lining. I really hope they up the quality of their food, and try to avoid treating customers like livestock to get their buffet veggies (with no visible proper way to disinfect grabbing utensils, so you dont know if someone used one for raw seafood) and instead went for a more refined experience. read more

Came during dinner hours on a Saturday night and it was quite busy but we signed in and it moved quickly. The table was nice & clean and our server was polite and informative since it was our first time having hot pot. We chose the VIP menu, ordered the "ying yang) broth with half bone broth & half mushroom. We ordered pork, 4 different kinds of beef and went over to the buffet bar and loaded up on more ingredients and we're surprised that although the buffet area was small, they had lots of great options (we got shrimp, octopus, mussels, crab, mushrooms and pork belly just to name a few) The mushroom broth was amazing!
