I have been coming here for over a decade. They are also consistent. Service here is always efficient. There has been some recent changes with the buffet style self serve hotpot. Now there is buffet style for you to pick out your own veg, tofu, and shrimps. Self serve drinks dessert etc. They still take your order for meat and bring it to the table. We did the VIP hot pot which was 10 dollars extra and to be honest not worth the extra nothing to complain about but there isn't much extra you get, the regular menu has everything needed. My fave broth is mushroom and tomato, you can split your hot pot for different flavors. The lamb served here is always the best lamb ever. There are so many veg choices. Great family spot and group dining !

My party of 4 visited on a Friday around 6:30pm and was seated promptly. The restaurant filled out throughout the evening. We opted for the regular ayce option for $31.99 per person. There was a number of meats to order from the waiter and you could get vegetables, mushroom, fishballs, noodles and other items yourself from the buffet area. There is also sauce bar and some cooked food to choose some. Soft drinks are also included in the ayce price. The meats came out relatively quick and wait staff were friendly. Overall, a good spot for hot pot if you want variety, and quality was on par of other ayce hot pot spots.

Classic menu with best of both world soup. Lamb, beef short plate, kurobuta pork.

Came in on a Friday night, yelp waitlist had no wait at 6:30 but when we arrived by 7:15 there were 6 parties ahead of us and a full restaurant so we waited probably 15 minutes for a table which was not bad. BYOB which was great. No cotton candy machine but they had a variety of seafood options, mushrooms, pickled pig ears/wood ear mushrooms, organ meats, vegetables all were fresh and were readily restocked. They also had some dessert soups off to the side including sago and red bean. Despite the restaurant being full our waiter was easy to get a hold of if needed but we didn't really need it since the portion sizes of the meat brought out was perfect. It wasn't too loud, it was clean, and the meats were fresh. Great deal and a great experience.

The waitlist wasn't bad but they won't you a table unless all of your parties show up being present. Four people we got best of both worlds and all you can eat choices for dinner sections. Variety of food selections that you can't go wrong with. You get to choose meats, veggies, and sides with drinks as much as you would like. If you go here for your birthday you get to eat there for free, must check out don't loose such a great deal. Many choices to follow and great hotpot especially for this winter seasons!

I think this place is slightly overhyped. Couple of things: - Service: while I get that it's supposed to be self service, we felt a bit neglected. Seating was slow, nobody asked how we were doing, soup was evaporating with no refills - Broth: incredibly important part of hot pot in general but there broth wasn't especially flavorful. The spicy wasn't even spicy and it was very mid. No umami at all - Selection of meats / veggies were fine? Pretty average selection, nothing too special. Their fish balls are absolutely atrocious. My friend described it as "is this sh*t in the middle". Do not get that. - Also, there were so many flies? gnats?? around the produce EWWWW. One of the workers had to bring out their electric fly swatter and everything was just PAH PAH PAH so that makes me question the hygiene of the restaurant It's overall ~fine~ but I definitely don't think it's to die for

I havent been here and years and the set up has completely changed. It's now an AYCE hot pot place, with so many options. We came for dinner and got the classic menu. You have to order the meat options, but everything else is in the buffet section and there's a ton to choose from. There's a variety of seafood, vegetables and mushrooms, fishballs, and noodles, and also a sauce bar. Everything was fresh and the broth was nice. Service was quick and the meats we order came out fast. They have a few private rooms, otherwise it's casual seating.

Really good service and everything came super fast and clean! Would recommend if you just want to have some quick hotpot and vip comes with Wagyu beef

The last time I visited Happy Lamb (formerly Little Sheep) was before COVID, and I was curious to see how it's changed since then. While it's still all-you-can-eat, the experience is very different now. They've introduced different pricing tiers based on the variety of meats and drinks included, which is a nice touch for those who want more options. However, the restaurant is now largely self-service. Other than the cuts of meat, everything else--noodles, vegetables, seafood, and sides--needs to be picked up from the buffet line. While I appreciate being able to choose exactly what I want, I miss the convenience of having everything brought to the table. Overall, I found the experience underwhelming. The selection, quality, and pricing at KPot down the road are significantly better in my opinion. I much preferred the way Happy Lamb was run pre-COVID, and unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.

Great AYCE spot when you want some hot pot! They have a couple tiers depending on meat preferences. The food is very fresh and the broth is flavorful. Good variety of proteins, veg, and add-ons at the bar. There was also a cotton candy machine when I went. I'd recommend checking it out (but the parking does get full quickly during peak hours).

Do they take reservations for large parties e.g. 10+?

    Yes!

The one in flushing is halal are you?

There weren't any pork products being sold.

Are they back to there old ways of ordering or is it still all you can eat?

    Still AYCE.

Apparently Monday October 11th google says there going to be open. Can anyone confirm this?

They are open. I ate there earlier today.

It is October 3rd, anyone know when there going to open?

I peeked inside the restaurant yesterday (Saturday, October 2, 2021) and the renovation is still going on.

Are they open for business (September 2021)?

As of today (9/28) they are still closed for renovations, but I had to drive there to find out -- they're not answering their phone.

    Are they open?

Yes, they've been open. Sometimes it can be hard to tell if they are because they're normally not busy and often no one is working the front to welcome and seat customers. Wait a bit when you enter or call ahead of time to be safe. Also, noticed… Read more

Do they still have the lunch special?

They now have Hot Pot Combos instead. You can check it out on their Yelp page, under "Menu".

Is it open for indoor dining?

Yes, I looked through the windows tonight and saw people eating indoors

    Do you offer outdoor dining?

No, there is no room to set up outdoor dining.

    Is it byob?

    Yes, it's BYOB :)

    How casual is this restaurant?

    Very casual. No dress code.

    All you can eat?

No it's not but the orders has huge portions. To the point that the last thing you will remember is what being hungry feels like lol

Anyone know how Sunday prices compare to the normal weekday lunch specials?

Weekday lunch specials are a little over $11 per person. Weekend pricing is generally the same as a la carte weekday pricing. Noticed more ingredients are offered during dinner than lunch on weekdays. Not sure if that's also the case on weekends but… Read more

They now control their ordered system through QR codes and it's all completed on your phone. My husband and I both opted for a dry pot. It's $1 for the sauce/seasoning, $4.95 for each meat and $3.95 for each vegetable or starch. As you can imagine this adds up quickly. I ordered the ginger and scallion with beef brisket, pork belly, prince mushrooms, corn, sugar snap peas, and udon noodles. There were a lot of issues with my dish in particular. I ordered mild but my dish was very spicy. I can handle spice but I feel bad if anyone orders this who can't. I'll include a picture with the amount of Szechuan peppers in this dish. The menu says pork belly but what they actually mean is thinly sliced pork which is not the same. Additionally the menu indicated corn so I was under the impression I would get loose corn not corn on the cob. Otherwise, we probably only waited about 5 minutes for our food and all the wait staff was very attentive. My husband loved his dish though so we have very opposite opinions lol. I will be coming back because my husband still loved it here and I want to give the hot pot a try.

Turned out to be a great choice. Although not easy to find on the tail end of a nondescript commercial strip, we saw its sign and walked in to a decent sized dining room with a half dozen booths along one wall and about a dozen tables spread across the remainder. Plenty of original watercolors displayed and for sale on the walls. David the proprietor seemed to be handling most of the operation himself. He sat us, took our order, disappeared into the kitchen to participate in its preparation and served our four courses to us in traditional style - separately as ready. The food was excellent. We chose from both the lunch and regular menu, which were integrated seamlessly. Fried Pork Chop, Crispy Fried Intestine, Fish Fillets in Chili Sauce from the mains, and Orange Beef from the lunch list. I started with Hot &Sour Soup, which was flavorful and loaded with tofu, sprouts, pork slivers and potent vinegar. Loved it! The Pork Chop was deboned and pressed thin. The result was a crisp sliced Katsu-like cutlet with nice flavor and long crunchy chew. The Intestine was also crisp and filled with green beans that mixed well with the hardened shell and soft innards. Not my fave, but my lovely partner ate it enthusiastically. The Fish and Chili was very good, with tender lightly breaded white fish fillets and red chili sauce that included small pieces of celery, sprouts and cabbage, in a large bowl. Finally, the lunch sized Orange Beef was delicious with sweet and spicy amber sauce coating the pieces of lightly crisped beef. Ubiquitous broccoli sprigs added color to the dish. Service was friendly and accommodating. David was happy to interact and talk about his business there. Red Onion is a Five Star keeper.

I was flipping ecstatic when I saw this place was still open and survived the C-Word. I felt so at home eating the food I had back in my college days with my original order. I will say that the restaurant did downsize, however I'm just happy that they're still there to begin with, just in case I haven't elaborated. The decor did get a nice lift and more modern than the back of the day set up. I think it's cute. I believe the young lady that's been there for years may have been the owner the whole time and I was just too oblivious to actually pay attention. The server herself... I felt bad that she couldn't really understand me as my order was incorrect on what I was missing in my soup. My usual from back in the day was Beef and Beef Tendon Noodle Soup, and I would always ask for tripe with mixed beef intestines... so I was missing the intestines but genuinely didn't really think of it as a big deal since I just wanted to taste the food again. Overall, soup, 15/10. The XLB's are just goodness and warms my soul and lord have mercy how much I have missed these little puppies. We came on a Sunday around 1pm and about half the tables were occupied so there was no wait. First thing I noticed is the inside is all different, maybe newer looking. They must have changed ownership from when I last came. The food wasn't authentic and wasn't good. We ordered soup dumplings, sweet soy milk, savory soy milk, and pan fried dumplings. Soup dumplings- the good thing is here they give you 8 pieces (vs 6 pieces in other NJ places). The skin is too thin. It was difficult to pick up with a chopstick or spoon and not 1 piece stayed intact while picking it up. All of the soup leaked out before it even reached my plate. The texture of the skin was "slippery" vs the bouncy kind I usually see with soup dumplings. My husband said he bit into a small piece of bone which is weird. Sweet soy milk- it wasn't a smooth drink. There were lots of soy grits Savory soy milk- tasted very watered down. Didn't have much soy milk flavor Pan fried dumplings- the portion was generous with 6 huge pan fried dumplings. These are the largest I've seen anywhere. They look more like buns than dumplings!! It was ok but overall it didn't taste like a pan fried dumpling. The owners seem really nice and friendly, chatting with some of the customers. Their service was good too. It's just the food isn't authentically Shanghainese.
