Love Moe's. The only flower shop I feel strongly about. Please support :( it's hard during this covid time in a college campus without most of the student population... Called in today hoping to request a bouquet for a friend whose aunt passed and was hoping to pick it up if I stopped by after work at 6 (despite the shop being listed to close at 6). He said that actually he's been closing at 5 due to covid - but then kindly said he would stay open until after 6 because it would take some time for me to get here after work... and he would wait. TT. As always, he knows what he's doing, and after asking a bit more about the situation, suggested certain flowers and colors and explained why they would best suit the situation. Originally I was asking for a $20 bouquet, but he said the flowers that would be good should be a $30. But if I can spare $5 he can do it for $25. If you look at the photo, this bouquet is worth way more than $25... When I came to pick up, he was arranging and we got to chat a bit. He's super nice and things have been hard but he's trying. He just loves what he does. ***I will say - LET Moe do Moe's thing. Don't come in being picky asking for this and that. I don't know how this place has any stars to be honest. If Yelp allowed us to give negative stars I would. My family and I drove from Stockton to walk around the shops and eat at the eateries on Telegraph. We parked at the garage that is right next to Moes Flowers. My husband needed to use the restroom due to the long drive so my son, his girlfriend and I decided to go in the store while we waited. We saw some eucalyptus by the door and I was interested in purchasing some. I'm also a plant mom so I was very interested to see if there was any plants that I could purchase that I don't have yet. As soon as we walked in the door this guy Moe told us to leave. Very rudely just told us "to leave". It took me by surprise because I've never experienced such a hostile tone especially having just walked into his establishment. I asked him if he was closed and he didn't even look at us just kept his head down looking at whatever he was doing and said Yes. So I turned around and along with my son and his girlfriend started to walk out the door.. I then said very loudly so Moe could hear " well his door is wide open and his sign doesn't say closed". We proceeded then to walk next door to a bookstore where two very nice and welcoming ladies greeted us. We looked at books until my husband showed up. We then left the bookstore to head to Telegraph avenue and as we were turning to corner to where Moes flower shop is, we saw a white man in the store and Moe was helping him purchase flowers. Why did I mention the man is white you ask?? Well I hope you're picking up what I'm putting down. I started to go back in to ask him why did he tell us the store was closed when it clearly wasn't? But I was there to enjoy the day with my family and I wasn't going to let his negative and demon like attitude ruin my day. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE! Great Flowers, Bad Tempered Owner I've purchased flowers from Moe's before, so I know the quality and prices are phenomenal, but today I came in to ask if there were special hours for Graduation week, particularly for this Sunday. He was cleaning up and in a terrible mood. He gave me a muddled answer, so I asked him to repeat. He looked me directly in the eye and repeated in a mafia boss tone, "I'll be here at 2AM." I had a surprised look on my face and he then proceeded to say, "I won't be here for you. I'll be here because there is work to be done." Confused, I asked him what that meant. He replied in a very aggravated tone, "Look, I know you're stressed over graduation, but I said 2AM. What don't you understand? The shop isn't usually open at that time, but if you come by at 2AM, I might sell you flowers." My question and response were genuine, and it was very insulting that he talked down to me. If I could give 0 stars I would. I wasn't even able to walk inside before the owner began yelling at me. I am a plant mom. My plants are my babies and each one has a personality. Whenever I travel to a new city I like to take one plant home with me. I stopped at the shop hoping to buy something and I found a little succulent I liked. I picked it up to inspect it to make sure it was healthy and Moe began yelling at me to put it down if I'm not gonna buy it. His reaction was absurd. I told him "Well I was GOING to buy it." Moe's flowers is amazing! My family bought my graduation bouquet and leis from there and the quality was great. He came there even before the shop's original opening hours just so I can have my leis for my morning graduation ceremony. The prices are very reasonable and the leis are much cheaper and better quality (double leis) than the ones you can buy near the graduation areas. 5/5 would go here and buy my friends' graduation leis from here. They have beautiful and very reasonably priced flowers compared to other flower shops in the area, but as you can probably tell from the other views, the owner Moe can be very difficult to work with, depending on the day and his mood. I personally haven't had an intensely negative experience unlike many others, so I don't think I can give the business than 4 stars--But the owner is eccentric for sure. There have been times when he's very brash on the phone, and then when I go in person to pick up my flowers, he's the friendliest person in the world. Back when Moe had that lady help her in the shop, he was a lot less stressed out but ever since it was just him and the mexican guy helping him... I dont know things have just been not going well for Moe. Sure, its stressful during mothers day and graduation season but there should be no reason to talk shit about your customers to other customers (its just not professional) and let alone yell at your customers about how busy you are and that you dont have time to be wrapping single flowers for them. Honestly I know he has lost some business from the people in my circle because during graduations this year, we made the effort to go to the flower shop up the street to avoid Moe's inevitably bad mood. I want to start off by saying I have never created a Yelp account or left a review on any place before this one but my experience was so jarring I felt the need to leave a review. I am a young Mexican man, and I had gone to this shop with my Asian girlfriend. I had gone to a flower shop before this one, requesting seeds as now that school is over I'm looking for new hobbies, one being that I want to start a small garden. The previous shop had told us he had no seeds but suggested we could repot and plant one of his existing flower plants. However, when we arrived to this shop, the man (who I am assuming is the owner) was very rude to us. He first asked my girlfriend twice if she had any questions but his tone was almost pushy, and she told him we were just looking and started to walk out due to her past experiences with men talking down to her. Of course, asking for any questions is normal routine but I trust her when she says she felt uncomfortable and had some sort of bad feeling about him because she normally sees the best in people and her intuition is strong. However, before I caught on that she was leaving due to her gut feelings, I asked if they had sold seeds for gardening. The old man responded "Seeds? Seeds for what?" in a very weird tone that made me feel like my question was dumb. I'm not too sure if it's common for flower shops to sell seeds but I thought he would be willing to offer some other solutions like the previous flower shop we went to but instead, he shooed us away after my question with a "have a nice day" with a sour face. It was so strange for me to get shut down and shooed out so quickly, as I was willing to look around for bouquets and look at the arrangements they had even if they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. Now, as I'm reading these reviews, I want to say there is so much validity in the reviews where they believe these bad experiences are micro aggressions and just profiling in general. We had barely walked in and we' were treated like we were of less intelligence simply because of the way we appeared to this man. It's easy to say "maybe it's just a coincidence" or "maybe he was having a bad day" but as a POC in such a progressive area, I feel like there is no excuse to make two POC both feel as if the anger and malice was directed through a lens of racism. What is wrong with Moe?? I walked in with a friend looking to purchase an arrangement. I noticed that he did not have any displayed so I asked for a quote on 1 dozen long stem bouquet. This madman went on ramble about how "my flowers are not like grocery store flowers. Those are cheap, my flowers are not cheap". I'm sorry but I never said I was looking for cheap flowers I said I wanted to know the quote. Moe did not know if I have willing to pay over $100 for 12 roses, instead he racially profiled me and arrived to his decision. I was in shock and had just finished taking exams so I did not have the energy to react. He then went on to say "If you are looking for cheap flowers, go to the grocery store. I wish I could give Moe (and of course his flowers) 100 stars. The short story: Moe was an earth angel who saved my wedding day flowers in the 11th hour and gave us the most stunning bouquets and centerpieces I have ever seen in my life at a more than reasonable price. The long story: We had a wedding florist that was a preferred vendor who we hired about 8 months before our wedding. She was non responsive and MIA until she called only a month before our wedding to quote us double what we said our budget was. At the same time she was not even able to tell me exactly what we would be getting. We fired her because of how unprofessional she was and were 4 weeks from our wedding needing a florist. Moe was recommended by a friend and his professionalism, communication , and flowers absolutely went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. I had more communication with him in the first 48 hours of reaching out to him than I did in 8 months with the other florist. He held my hand every step of the way, answering questions, providing suggestions and guidance when requested, and he makes you (or at least made me) completely trust him. We knew he would take care of us and pour everything he could into our flowers. When I saw my flowers the day of, they were more gorgeous than I could have every imagined. He took my vision and perfected it. He created the biggest and most beautiful centerpieces I have ever seen (and I heard that from multiple people!) If we lived closer, I would constantly fill my home with Moe's flowers and I highly recommend him to anyone for any occasion. read more

I needed flowers. I was already running 30 minutes late for a friend's graduation ceremony. The flower shop right across campus was closed. I was desperate, sweaty, and annoyed. And then I saw Moe's, a shop that I usually overlook, until now. A hugely gigantic screaming pink monster Godzilla of a lily the size of my head. "ME WANT LILY!!" (I told you I am eloquent.) The next thing I knew, Moe was dancing swiftly around the room, plucking flowers of different colors and textures, carefully arranging the them around the humongous Godzillily so that each new addition complemented its vivid pink color. And all the while, I kept squealing like a delighted little 5-year-old girl at a princess-themed birthday party: "Oh! Pretty!" "Wow~!" "Augh, so pwetty!!!!" The result? For $15, I got an absolutely BEAUTIFUL (and huge!) bouquet of gorgeous, gorgeous flowers, so wonderfully fragrant it made me want to dunk my head in there and take a bath. I went to his store on Monday to help my boss order three bouquets in vases. I told him what the budget range was and he gave me ideas on what types of bouquets he could create for the different amounts in the budget range. He spent a lot of time with me explaining what would be best and what would be the most beautiful. He was really professional and kind. I decided to pick up the flowers on Wednesday because that was when he said new flowers were coming in. Before I left, he told me to pick a flower for myself, and that I can choose any flower. I didn't really want to because I felt bad for not paying, but he insisted that I pick one. So I picked a purple rose and he added a white rose to it and a bunch of really tiny purple flowers. He is so sweet! On Wednesday, I went to the store to pick it up. And he made the bouquets infront of me. The bouquets were beautiful, and he made them really big. I did not expect the bouquets to be so big and beautiful for the budget I had given him. He just kept on adding more and more flowers to each bouquet. After he was done, he realized it would be difficult for me to carry all three without anything. So he found me a box and helped me put everything in it, lifted it up for me, and handed it to me. I'm updating my review of Moe because, as my now-husband's (as well as my own) florist of choice, it was only natural that we ask Moe to be our wedding florist. He says he limits his weddings to those of his regular customers, but believe me - he will do you no wrong. At our initial meeting, I told him what kind of flowers I wanted and what they would be used for (bouquets, aisle, bouts, decor, etc). He chimed in with his own suggestions, but reinforced that it was my choice and that he'd do whatever I wanted. I made no compromise on my bouquet (I really wanted those red dahlias), but gave him more freedom with the aisle and arch flowers. The final quote he gave us was RIDICULOUS! He charged a fourth of what I had budgeted for (which was already on the low end for wedding flowers). I felt like I was robbing him, so I gave him a hefty tip. What can I say, I love Moe and want him to stay in business. The only downside is that he provides JUST the flowers - meaning, someone has to pick them up and do all the set up. So, fast-forward to our wedding day. Simply breath-taking. He went above and beyond what we had expected and everything turned out beautifully. The flowers stayed fresh throughout the ceremony and reception! Moe is THE MAN. He totally hooks up his loyal customers. I came to Moe's to buy 10 individual roses. When I first walked in, Moe greeted me himself and asked if I needed help with anything. After telling him I needed 10 roses, he asked if I needed them wrapped individually or loose. I responded with the latter, and Moe proceeded to pick out 10 roses from the bin. I could tell he was picking out the 10 best roses for me because he would pull some out, examine them and put them back if they weren't up to par. We talked while he was wrapping and preparing the roses, and he gave me some important life tips which I always appreciate! He also asked me how long the flowers would be standing before I gave them to my friends and gave me advice on how to keep them looking fresh for longer. He also made me a "water pouch" so that I wouldn't have to keep the roses in a cup or vase before giving them away (his water pouch made it super easy to carry the roses!). Moe is extremely attentive and very willing to work with you. The roses were $2.50 each but since my organization goes to Moe's twice every semester, he gave me a $0.50 discount on each rose! With graduation coming up, I will most likely be returning to Moe's!!! read more

I called and ordered some Ti Leafs and Leis for my cousins graduation. Moe answered the phone and I had preconceived thoughts about how rude he might be. It's a no frills shop in the parking garage building's first floor, facing Durant street. I have to say this is one of the best shops in the East Bay in terms of value and knowledgeable service. Moe is a great guy, very friendly and I have to say while the 3 or 4 customers were waiting for him to do arrangements and take care of them, he was making jokes, flattering us, and smiling even though he was pressed with a lot of walk- ins 15 minutes before closing time - and his prices are unbeatable. I'll upolad a photo of my $30 bouquet...and last arrangement when I followed his advice to change the water every day lasted over two weeks. Moe's Flowers is probably my favorite flower shop. I live in Reno and came all of the way to Berkeley to get them from him. My mom wanted to buy me a graduation leis for my high school graduation. I told her about Moe's and I couldn't have been any happier. His blue orchid lei was so beautiful and was only $25 compared to $35-$45 from other places. What I especially love was the fact that he helped my mom package the leis so it could survive 36 hours before the graduation and the long four hour car ride to Reno. The entire leis stayed in place and not even a petal fell. It looked beautiful, vibrant, and fresh! Moe made my graduation even better :) P.S. I came in one day and asked him about his blue roses and he gave me three for free!! read more

The flowers in this shop are actually really nice: the major issue with this shop is the rude owner Moe. Me and my girlfriend were just walking around Berkeley when we came upon moes flower shop and we decided to take a look and when we decided to go inside, we were then greeted (or shall I say antagonized by) Moe the shop owner, who proceeded to yell at us and telling us that we were bothering him by preceding into his store and basically telling us to get out his store very rudely, and as me and my girlfriend, who were horrified by his rudeness, were leaving, he kept continuing to yell at us and telling us to get out, even tho I told him to have a good day. We then found out that the owner is very aggressive towards the college students (me and my girlfriend were not students of the nearby college) and also very racist. I strongly recommend to avoid this location at all cost unless you like to be antagonized and/or yelled at. DO NOT SHOP HERE! I had to file a police report against the owner of the shop for harassment. I went into the shop to inquire about the orchids on display out front. The owner, Moe, was helping two other customers so when he asked me if I needed anything, to be polite and let him finish with the other customers, I said "It's ok, I'm just smelling for now." At this point he started SCREAMING at me and kicked me out of the store. I was shocked. I stepped outside and realized how ridiculous the whole situation was so I stepped back and told him it wasn't appropriate to speak to me, a potential customer, that way at which point he said he "didn't need my business little girl" and he didn't want "trash like me in his store." (I am a 26 year old, well dressed, straight-A student at Cal. I was wearing Kate Spade shorts, a Tory Burch blouse, Jack Rogers sandals, an Apple Watch and a $200 backpack - clearly not a homeless or vagrant.) I called him an asshole and left. Here is where it gets bad. At this point he FOLLOWED ME to where I volunteer around the corner and continued to scream at me and the elderly women I work with. He threatened the older women and continued yelling until he was kicked out, at which point he called security on me. However, when security came, she told me that everyone in the building avoids him and that the previous week she had seen him yelling at a 5-year-old child for touching a flower. And a review on Glassdoor shows he's not a kind employer either. When I reported the incident to the building, the manager told me that they have so many issues with him and suggested I file a police report since he followed me and continued to harass me even after I left the store. Even the officer I spoke to apparently heard stories about Moe. Long story short, the man who owns this place has some serious mental issues and people should avoid his shop like the plague! read more

Since I ordered ahead of time, I was able to get a beautiful orchid lei for $27. Calling around the area, other quotes were $30+, $40+, $50+ for the same thing. Crazy! I actually used to order ahead of time at Nob Hill Grocery Store for $20 but I haven't seen that advertised in awhile. When I arrived on graduation day, I got to choose the lei I wanted from the selection he had and was ready to go. Oh yeah, Moe increased the price on graduation day so it pays to order ahead of time over the phone. Cheap flowers and great service. Made a quick visit to buy a succulent plant. It's those cute little cacti plants on the shelfs! I've always walked past them on the way to class and finally today I bought one! A succulent plants cost $5.50; the mini cute pots were $3.50. If you sweet-talk him and bargain a bit, he'll lower the price a little. :) Sweet owner, very friendly. read more

Horrible service! I was with a few friends and one of them was going to get his gf a rose and he asked for the price and the owner told him they are closed and told us to get out. They were not closed for another couple of hours. Simply because my friend was picking a rose for his gf, the owner got mad and followed us out and called my friend a bastard and was just yelling rude insults. I first came to Moe's 2 years ago, I fell in love with these rare blue roses and orchids that he carries. Ever since I make a stop at Moe's every single trip that we go, and we come from San Jose. These are the best flower's I have seen, a wide variety of selection as well, I have yet to find a florist here in San Jose or in a city near San Jose that carries Blue roses that are grown Blue not spray painted. The same for the Blue orchids. Recently I drove with my boyfriend to pick up a lei for my graduation, it was so beautiful, it was fresh and it was made with Blue orchids! I was the only one with a Blue orchid lei. The prices are great! I have found him to be pleasant every single visit. One day I will turn to Moe for my wedding flower arrangements. 0 stars for be business owner who says, "YES, I don't care about these people here, they have no money, they are trash!" I was appalled by his response, & left saying I don't want to do business here. If I could give 0 stars I would. I usually don't take the time to give reviews..however the individual running this business was over the top horrendous!!!! It began when I attempted to walk in the store, when he seemingly innocently, asked me if there was anything specific I was looking for. I politely said no, just looking (as I was unsure what type of flower I would end up getting my friend for her birthday). He then said people are not allowed to just look, if there is something u want, I go in with you, I get it. I replied, ok.. you're welcome to supervise me. Moe delivered some beautiful pink roses for my birthday, and I could see why he's well-liked. He just seems like a nice, silly guy. The arrangement is gorgeous...high-quality roses arranged perfectly with baby's breath. My mom was looking for a local Berkeley florist on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and called him up. HORRIBLE owner of the store. I spoke calmly to him, but after he offered me a dozen roses and I was ready to pay he said he'd pick out some of the lower quality roses just because we BOTH agreed on a discounted price for the roses. As he started picking the roses to me, he stops and says my money means nothing to him and I can leave after he agreed to the price we came to. Then he went on to curse me out and I just shook my head and left. Really terrible temper and shocking service. Lost a lifetime customer and will be telling everyone in the units at berkeley to never go to your shop. read more
