Horrible service! I was with a few friends and one of them was going to get his gf a rose and he asked for the price and the owner told him they are closed and told us to get out. They were not closed for another couple of hours. Simply because my friend was picking a rose for his gf, the owner got mad and followed us out and called my friend a bastard and was just yelling rude insults. Definitely do not recommend coming here. read more

I really wish I could put 0 stars. as my friends and I were exploring Berkeley, we were rudely approached by the owner of Moes flowers. we just wanted to look at the plants. He was homophobic. My friend simply asked for the price of a plant and he yelled at him, telling him he could not afford it and people like him needed to stay on the other side of the building. we were respectful and genuinely interested in the plants. he took his anger from other customers out on innocent college students who just were offering him buisiness. he then proceeded to not let us talk or leave until he was done talking. seriously, ridiculous behavior from a man who is in need of buisiness. read more

i would give this place 0 stars if i could. wow! so my family was in town visiting and we walk in to look inside (keep in mind the door was OPEN and we were unaware no one was in there) and when we walked in to look around the owner of this place yells at us asking what we want (in such a rude way). before we can answer he yells at us to "walk away". keep in mind we're 4 BROWN women on our own just trying to buy some flowers and this store owner is an angry white man. we walk away not wanting to start problems when this man GETS IN MY AUNTS FACE and yells at her for NO REASON. he is yelling obscenities at us for absolutely no reason. we walked in wanting to give this man business and he blatantly disrespected us and harassed us. i suggest you get your plants from a kinder hearted and more understanding person. (also, every plant i've gotten from here before this encounter has died when ive followed the advice he gave me to care for it so he's obviously not only disrespectful but unreliable). such a sad and disheartening experience. i wonder if we would have been treated the same way if we had been 4 white college students looking around instead. read more

Moe is the BEST. I always order my flowers from Moe because his flowers are all high quality and lasts a long time! My boyfriend and I always go to Moe for all of our occasions, and he knows I only love flowers from Moe's Florist. Moe remembers that I love purple and blue roses, and always puts together a beautiful bouquet for my boyfriend each time he goes. Although I read negative reviews on here, Moe is actually a really sweet man. Moe always gives me a blue or purple rose when I'm purchasing flowers for someone else. And when my bf is purchasing flowers for a family member, Moe is sweet enough to give him a extra blue/purple rose for me. Whenever I order flowers, he gives me the high quality ribbons that he has in the back and always gives me a free vase. When I need it in a bouquet, he makes a little plastic bag of water to help the flowers live longer. I cannot say enough good things about this flower shop and the guy who runs it! =) (see pictures of blue & purple roses). http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/moes-flowers-berkeley?select=eI2dWmUKqzQVDT3wgXjf1Q#-xogbal3t1XaCovInJDcjw read more

0 stars for be business owner who says, "YES, I don't care about these people here, they have no money, they are trash!" I was appalled by his response, & left saying I don't want to do business here. If I could give 0 stars I would. I usually don't take the time to give reviews..however the individual running this business was over the top horrendous!!!! It began when I attempted to walk in the store, when he seemingly innocently, asked me if there was anything specific I was looking for. I politely said no, just looking (as I was unsure what type of flower I would end up getting my friend for her birthday). He then said people are not allowed to just look, if there is something u want, I go in with you, I get it. I replied, ok.. you're welcome to supervise me. He then explained its so tight inside & people brush up & ruin the flowers. I asked if most of his business is by phone order? He replied as seen in the first sentence above. read more

HORRIBLE owner of the store. I spoke calmly to him, but after he offered me a dozen roses and I was ready to pay he said he'd pick out some of the lower quality roses just because we BOTH agreed on a discounted price for the roses. As he started picking the roses to me, he stops and says my money means nothing to him and I can leave after he agreed to the price we came to. Then he went on to curse me out and I just shook my head and left. Really terrible temper and shocking service. Lost a lifetime customer and will be telling everyone in the units at berkeley to never go to your shop. read more

Bought boba next door and decided to check out the store. Sadly, I was greeted by the owners rude ass attitude. He's justification was because other people walk in and waste his time when they buy boba. He's a complete a*hole with terrible customer service. Hopefully they close down this store and someone better opens up. A 0 star review would be great, sucks I have to give him 1 star. read more

I started buying flowers from Moe my freshman year, since I lived right next door at Unit 3. Even though I graduated 4 years ago, he still remembered me when I visited his store yesterday! Even though it was 6:55 (I think he usually closes around 7 pm), he greeted me with a smile and asked how I was doing. He let me pick out my bouquet, and when I asked how much the hydrangea were, he said, "Don't worry. You just make something pretty, and I'll give you a good price." For a beautiful bouquet of 3 calla lilies and 3 hydrangea, it was a ridiculously low price, and I had to bargain with him to pay him more than that. When I was leaving, he asked if I wanted anything for myself and let me choose any flower I wanted. "Let's see, I remember you liked roses--lavender roses!" "How do you remember that??" Moe laughed and replied, "I surprise myself with my memory!" Since there weren't any lavender roses, I picked a pink oriental lily, which he wrapped and put in a water tube for me, since I mentioned I was visiting from out of town. Even though he probably had to close later than usual, he was very warm and patient toward me, which makes me even more sad that I don't live nearby anymore. Moe is truly a gem--nowhere else have I been able to find fresher flowers with such genuine service and budget-friendly prices. read more

Unfortunately, Moe kicked my friends and I out of his store and cussed us out because he thought we were just stopping by to take pictures of his pink cacti. However, I was genuinely interested in buying his OVERPRICED plant (Home Depot sells for $3 and he sells for $8). Went back to his store a year later and he didn't remember me. He talked to me about how to take care of the succulents that I was buying from him. He talks about the plants as if they were humans. read more

Moe runs the shop alone every time I go, and I am pretty impressed that he even manages to get through the busiest days doing it without help (graduation season, banquet season, cultural shows, etc.) Whenever I come, he asks me what my budget is and makes suggestions as to how to complement the main flowers I tend to pick when making bouquets. There were a few occurrences where I fell short on the actual prices of the flowers, but he would give me discounts/deals to accommodate for my situations, which I greatly appreciate! read more

The customer service displayed was the WORST I've ever experienced. EXTREMELY RUDE. My friends and I stopped by his shop after the succulents sitting outside caught out attention. Moe's Flowers is THE BEST flower shop in the East Bay Area!!! The flowers are fresh, beautiful, and most of all affordable. The owner, Moe goes out of his way to accommodate my needs each visit. My boyfriend surprised me at work with a bouquet from Moe's, and it was amazing! The whole thing was almost 4 feet tall and arranged beautifully. I am still dumbfounded at how incredibly rude "Moe" is! I walked up to look at a plant and touched one of the leaves. He scolded me to not touch his plants cuz they'll bruise.. I laughed to my husband and told him that I just got in trouble. The owner then told me to leave. I told him I was looking for a price to buy the plant (he does have gorgeous plants) he told me "you no look. You no touch. You no buy. We closed!" Well any chance of ever coming back just went out the door! How is this place even open with such an awful person running it!? read more

The owner is scary. I was looking at a plant outside and asked how much it was. He glared at me and barked his answer. I've been buying flowers from Moe for over 30 years. He always has the best flowers at a fair price. He typically works alone and if you are patient he will create any type of bouquet you need. I've read reviews of people complaining about Moe being rude and I've personally witnessed people being rude, and pushy to Moe because of their bad planning or their inability to have more patience than that of a child to wait their turn to be served. Moe will put together a beautiful bunch of flowers together for any occasion, just know what you want, and how much you want to spend, and behave like you weren't raised by savages and you will be rewarded. read more

I think it takes a certain type of clientele to appreciate him and his business? I walked in saying "can I get a small bouquet?" and he said "we don't do small bouquets, look here for $15" pointing to buckets that had moderately sized bouquets, mostly pink/purple flowers. I said that was fine and chose one (asked to be wrapped in clear wrapping bc they were wrapped in patterned ones). Later I saw a girl behind me choosing her own flowers for a really small bouquet, more towards what I was looking for, but he didn't really tell me that until AFTER I had agreed to purchase the $15 one. The options below the $15 weren't clear at all. While I was waiting, there were I think 2 other people, 1 waiting to be helped and 1 choosing her flowers. Another person came by and Moe asked "do you need anything?" and she said no not yet, just browsing. He said "ok then, wait outside" (probably because his store is small and didn't want it to get uncomfortably crowded). She left, and he made some remarks about how "my store is not an exhibit! all these people they wanna look around... just let me do my business!" and I pretended to agree and laugh because... well. I thought the more people browse the more inclined they are to buy your stuff. Not him. Just tell him what you want, he just wants to do business with you. Some other girl was taking a photo of the store (from the OUTside) and he told her "no photos" and kind of joked about how "they'll probably be using hashtags.."of his place? idk I guess this guy just really doesn't want his stuff shown anywhere :/ I do agree that he will give you something for your budget read more

I feel bad knocking off 2 stars because I love the selection and the arrangements that he does, however his attitude makes the experience worse than it has to be. The man definitely knows his stuff and is very talented and good at his job. HOWEVER he is very rude. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. By the way, this review is for *WEDDING FLOWERS from a BRIDE* This is -NOT- your typical order-your-arrangement-and-leave. This is a review based on MORE than 5 minutes of contact time, a review of working with a vendor extensively over details: "I'm easy. Some florists get mad if you say you are doing your own centerpieces. But I'm not. I'm easy." *launch into THIRTY minute lecture of why Moe's flowers are better, why DIY centerpieces are retardo ideas and follow up with several horror stories of failure centerpieces* me: "I want purple flowers, not red, not black" moe: COMPLETELY loses it, begins SCREAMING at me (I am not exaggerating when I say scream, he screamed), tells me how I stress him out, how *I* am difficult to work with because I want one color of flower. WTH??? I am a BRIDE, Moe, I have a COLOR SCHEME. ALL I asked for was purple!!! I did not even ask for an exotic flower to be flown in and demanded it to be 50 cents. Trust me, Yelpers, I am NOT a Bridezilla, flowers were one of my lowest priorities for my wedding. I was unwaveringly polite the entire time, and I put up with all of Moe's crap because I thought in the end, I could deal with him. Even Moe himself knew he screwed up. After blowing up, he apologized and said he felt bad for losing it with me and commenced to run around his shop to wrap up a rose and give it to me as an "apology" present... I walked out of there with my rose, wondering what the heck had just happened- there was more drama w/ him than any other aspect of my wedding. Sure, I appreciate the thought, but I don't think ANYTHING makes up for his extremely unprofessional anger, his yelling, and his continual rude and snide attitude even AFTER I received the "apology rose". Moe's is a small bargain flower shop that cannot deal with anything bigger than one order of flowers- his bouquets are huge and low priced. This explains all the excited undergrads giving him 5 star reviews. But the owner, man... He's the type of guy who convinces himself that he's a good person but goes bonkers when you try to nail down a price with him or ask for more details regarding an order. He CANNOT handle details, he CANNOT handle anything even slightly more involved. The moment you want to hash out a number, agree on a size of centerpiece, a certain color, a certain type of flower, a price, Moe flips the heck out, gets stressed, and BLOWS UP on you. He has no capacity whatsoever. I have spent time with florists who have gladly worked with my ideas. DIY? Sure no prob. You want this color? Not a problem. You want one type of flower? We can get that. Not Moe. Moe gets pissy at you, insists he's NOT pissy, and then lectures you for hours on end. Honestly, if he had just told me that he could NOT do something, I'd be fine with it. But instead, Moe has anger management issues. If I were stopping in for an arrangement, a rose or two, sure why not? My interaction with him would be limited and he does try in his own odd way to be friendly. But, BRIDES BEWARE: don't mention the cursed "DIY" word, nor even breath a hint that you might get flowers from *gasp* another florist! Any polite request for details will stress him out, any insistence on your part for a color, a flower, a style, ANYTHING that is not up to his own "creativity" and "skill" will drive him over the edge and you will find yourself a victim of his very bad temper. I spoke to a bride who actually used him, and he similarly lost it with her when she asked politely for an itemized receipt. (Hello, brides need to budget). He was yelling so loudly that she began crying and a stranger had to step in and tell Moe to chill out because it got THAT bad. OK, and here is the cherry on top: I tried to put up with Moe's insanity but in the end opted out. Moe had the nerve to CALL ME THREE DAYS before my own wedding to lecture me on how I was rude for not using him, for opting out. Are you serious?? Do you really think this will give you ANY business in any way?? He was rude, he started yelling at me, and my fiancee had to talk to him to tell him to not call me again and hang up. Very professional, right? CONCLUSION TO RANT: He's cheap. He cannot handle detail, he cannot handle any slightly complicated order. He has anger issues, is rude, and overstepped the line many times by yelling at me, calling me personally three days before my wedding to yell at me, and he is NOT WORTH your trouble. read more

Negative five stars. The flowers are beautiful, but the shop owner was an ill-tempered troll. I walked in to admire the roses and ask about pricing and before I could finish my sentence I was told VERY curtly that if I was just going to look and not buy that I needed to leave. Needless to say I will NEVER come back, and if I do it'll be to look only. Nothing wrong with that. read more

I guess for students, Moe's is really convenient. I went in this morning with my friends' boyfriend to get her graudation flowers. He seemed pretty busy so I guess that's why he was so rude to us. We asked for a $20 bouquet and he said okay the flowers will be random and then he picked all these AWFUL weed looking flowers that I could find in my backyard. I was so shocked especially since he had all these other beautiful flowers to choose from. Then we said no no we don't like that and he said okay you guys can pick your own and then I asked him could you help us make an arrangement with the flowers we pick? He said NO. He said you pick the flowers YOU do the arrangement. Since me and my friends' boyfriend was not so skilled in flower arrangements, we changed our flowers 2 times to see what would look good. Then Moe blew up on us saying he can't do business with us if we keep changing the flowers and if you want him to take the time to make a beautiful bouquet - go to the place in el cerrito where you got your other flowers ( i had my own bouquet but my friend's bf did not, that el cerrito place is Dream World btw- better service than this crap) Then he ranted on about how he doesn't make money. Moe's Flowers - Vibrant beautiful roses - Florists Near Me - Berkeley, California

I've never had such a poor experience as the one I had at Moe's Flowers the other day. It was my sister's department graduation, so I was looking for flowers. Flower shops overprice all their flowers during this week, so it was natural (especially for a broke college student) to compare prices. Some flower shops even charge leis for $48 this week! Crazy! Anyways, I asked the owner (I'm guessing his name is Moe) about the prices of his roses/how much a dozen roses would cost. I told him I'd be back and went to check other flower shops to see if their flowers looked more fresh. I came back, deciding I wanted to BUY FROM THIS PARTICULAR FLOWER SHOP, and Moe rudely asks me where I went. I admitted that I went to check other flower shops. I wanted fresh and affordable flowers. Is it WRONG to compare prices? It's not like I used other shops' prices to bargain down for a dozen roses. Moe then says that he doesn't appreciate that I went to other shops, and that they only sell "quality" flowers here, and that he should be charging me more because I went to other flower shops. I was in disbelief that I was being treated this way. We should be treated as valued customers, and there's nothing wrong with looking for the most affordable flowers. He then went on and ignored all my further questions. I went outside of the shop to look at the roses he had outside and he pushed the flowers (which were on a cart) away from me. I've never encountered such a rude business owner. I don't care if your flowers may be the "freshest" or the "best quality." (I only saw almost-fully bloomed roses the day I was there, and it was before 9 AM) If your store can't offer even average customer service, there's no way I would give you any business. I'd rather buy day-old flowers from an enthusiastic owner than at a flower shop with "fresh" flowers where I was rudely treated. You've definitely lost any of my future business at your store. This shop definitely does not deserve such high ratings. read more

This guy needs to stop yelling at everyone. Went in to look at flowers (like everyone else's review here), and I asked how much a certain flower was, and he shouted "this is the best price you will find, good luck finding cheaper elsewhere!" I calmly said, "I am not trying to barter, I simply am asking the price." He kept yelling, so I left and he shouted "Good, I don't want your business anyway!" I don't know what is wrong with this guy - it's sad. No need to yell and disrespect people the level he did. I went to Ashby flowers in the Whole Foods lot instead, and they were OUTSTANDING - sweet and lovely. read more

I went into Moe's with my Mom to get flowers for my friends graduation. After I asked him which bouquets were priced the lowest he says, "If that's the way this is going to go down, leave!" (This was literally within minutes of us entering the store) I was shocked but my Mom tells him that he was being extremely rude to us and proceeds to leave the store. Moe starts running after us, bends down so he can see us through the flower shelves, and starts yelling, "Fine! You're THE WORST ASIANS I've ever met!!" TL;DR: we were received with racially charged, derogative insults for asking the price of his products. I'm not sure if there is an official complaint I can file because no one deserves to get racist insults while shopping. read more

I've been to Moe's Flowers more times than I can count on my fingers, but I've finally decided to give it a review after my last encounter with the owner. Like others have mentioned, the owner gives good discounts for sororities/groups, and has very fair prices, but for his bipolar behavior, I don't know if saving a couple bucks is worth it. I came in to buy flowers, expecting the usual - fast service, and pretty flowers for a good price - but that's unfortunately not what happened. I was inside the shop when I overheard the owner yelling at one of his workers in a degrading manner, telling her she was stupid for standing outside and to go in. She came in, slightly shaken, but still trying to help me. I had ordered flowers earlier and was just coming to pick up my order, but she didn't seem to understand. Enter, owner. He begins asking me in a very berating tone why I was just standing around, and what I wanted. When I responded that I needed my flowers, he muttered something under his breath, gave a huge sigh, and turned to me a second time to ask what I ordered. It caught me off-guard and I asked him not to speak to me so rudely. He then proceeded to call me a "fucking bitch", who was "too fragile to go outside and should stay indoors", while also screaming at me about the definition of "rude" and shaking an angry finger at me. He threw my money on the floor and told me to "get the fuck out of his store". After giving him a piece of my mind, I stormed out and went to the flower shop across the street from Durant Food Court. The lady there told me she gets girls coming in to her store, crying about the owner's crazy behavior every day. Looks like I'm not the only one.. read more

I FINALLY took my time, found a parking space nearby and patronized Moe's Flowers. Moe is a remarkable friendly man -with so much Berkeley and San Francisco Historic knowledge. There's not a subject that he cannot talk about! Stopped in today to purchase a bouquet of flowers for a new mom and baby boy. I brought my own vase and told him the occasion and my budget, and Moe took it from there. The bouquet has depth, height and volume over filled with the beauty of colorful and fragrant flowers -some opened and others with buds that will explode in beauty over the next couple days. I am beyond pleased with my purchase -and paid him over and beyond what he asked. For me, it's not always about getting the best price, but it's helping a very very very small business survive and thrive while being under pandemic conditions. Thank You Moe for your service and for your willingness to push through under uncertain and difficult times. I appreciate Moe's Flowers and will continue to patronize your business. read more

Spoke with a gentleman over the phone about getting a quote/time on leis, & he was practically shouting at me over the phone. I told him he didn't have to shout at me, & he apologized. Unfortunately, I was already too frustrated to move on with my order, so I decided to go with Ashby Flowers. The folks I spoke to over there took the time to answer my questions & didn't make me feel horrible about my last-minute inquiry. Such sweethearts! I wanted to buy flowers in the flower shop next to Top Dog's but they're closed on Sundays so I decided to check out Moe's. The flowers are definitely pretty and I don't know if I came in a bad day or something but he was extremely rude to my friend and I. I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or just rude. I asked which what the price of three different flowers were and his reply was "You come here and ask me price for this and that. Price don't matter. Only one or two dollar different. I don't have time for your questions. I have other stuff to do." Well, if price didn't matter so much maybe I should get it for the cheapest price.
