This charming small Cafe in River Oaks is pretty great. The menu is vast and almost labyrinthine, with options ranging from simple comfort foods like Chicken Fried Steak to Mexican dishes to burgers and on and on. The food is good, the service is friendly, and the decor is simple and homey. Highly recommend.

    Southern breakfast. Everything was amazing.

We enjoyed everything including the friendly service. The food was good. The coffee was good. Sausage was tasty. Come and enjoy.

The food was good and the price was good too. I think the service was outstanding. Our waitress Tania was so nice. I would recommend it

First time to dine here and it was lunchtime but they serve breakfast all day so I couldn't resist going for a breakfast dish. I had the southern one, three eggs, over medium, bacon, link sausage, biscuit and regular gravy on the side. Eggs were cooked perfectly, bacon was crispy, just how I like it, hash browns soft and crisp, pillowy biscuit and tasty gravy. The sausage was overcooked, but they gave me four pieces of crispy bacon so I didn't complain. Service was good and I took what I couldn't eat home for my cats. Meow. LOL!

Front room seating, nice and light.

Tried to post to show the front room too but it wasn't working. Generous portions and we still managed to eat most of it!

I went with my friends and our kiddos a few months ago, and I had their Coquito, and it was so good, that I had to get two. It was the perfect combination of espresso and all their spices. My friends also enjoyed their drinks. 5/5 all around. I also ordered a concha, and it was good and fluffy. It didn't taste stale, it was soft and delicious. My little one enjoyed their concha too. Our little ones played outside, and the owner closed the door that connects to another door that leads to the street. I didn't know we were allowed to close it, but I'm thankful he closed it. He was also welcoming and kind. They have some toy cars outside for the little ones to use as well as some toys and books inside. This is definitely a kid-friendly coffee shop with a changing table and toys for your little ones. May 8,2026, was the most recent time we've stopped by. I had a Matcha-Colada and their Mazapán latte. Their matcha-colada was refreshing and good. Their Mazapán latte was so delicious, creamy, and I was able to taste the nuttiness and the bits of Mazapán. I'm definitely a fan, yummy. 5/5. I also ordered their breakfast torta, which was half a torta, not the entire torta. It was decent, the bread was kind of hard. Overall, great drinks, ambience, concha, and a kid-friendly place which I love.

Once we all arrived outside the restaurant, we were welcomed in by a very kind gentleman. This place was packed and booming. The majority of our group went with Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, and numerous different sides. I had a side salad with ranch. It's was huge and I shared it with the GRANDdaughters. This place was serving both breakfast and lunch, and seems to have a great following with the locals. The waiter came out and provided the teacups, saucers, tongs and demitasse spoon. The service came next and each pot was labeled in white pots with a tiered tray with all the goodies lined on each tier. We were really surprised to learn of the peanuts in the chicken salad and thankfully the waitress told us, as we would have never guessed. The space is cozy, which is a polite way of saying it is not built for large groups or people who like personal space. The wait can be substantial, and the indoor holding area is limited, if the weather is doing something dramatic, you'll want to know that before you commit. The real secret, which I discovered the hard way, is that you can join the waitlist online before you even leave the house. Life-changing information that arrived too late for us. Learn from my mistakes. Once seated, the coffee is hot, the iced tea is fresh, a surprisingly rare achievement at breakfast hours, and the menu has enough options to cause genuine decision paralysis. We ordered two Traditional Breakfasts, both over easy eggs, both crispy bacon. One arrived cooked to absolute perfection, eggs exactly as requested, bacon doing exactly what bacon is supposed to do. The other arrived with eggs cooked firmly over hard. Same table, same order, same server. How does this happen? It is one of breakfast's great unsolved mysteries. The breakfast potatoes, meanwhile, showed promise, well seasoned and flavorful, but arrived in a mixed state of doneness that required careful excavation to find the fully cooked ones. It was less of a side dish and more of an archaeological dig. The third order, the Tri-Fecta, came with a multigrain pancake the size of a small continent, which almost made up for the potato situation. And then there was the Million Dollar Bacon. We didn't order it. The table next to us did. I watched it arrive and I am still not over it. Order the Million Dollar Bacon. Do not make my mistake. Do not be me. First Watch is a solid breakfast spot with real upside, get on the waitlist before you leave home, order the bacon, and maybe double-check your eggs before your server walks away.
