This is a really memorable space -- an old house turned cafe with fantastic coffee, plenty of tables and seating, a cute little play area for kiddos, and a huge covered patio. It's really spacious inside but fills up fast, they're deservedly popular. Casa Azul is Latino-owned, which is beautifully showcased in their menu, decor, and vibes. I recently had their famous churro latte which is espresso with vanilla, cinnamon, cajeta (Mexican caramel), and your choice of milk. I got mine iced and loved every sip. What a lovely hidden gem! I saw their story on Insta and immediately texted a friend--next thing you know, we're there! I loved that this spot is an old home turned into a cozy coffee shop. We went on a Friday late morning, and it was packed--always a good sign. We braved the Texas June heat and opted for the patio. Surprisingly pleasant! There was enough shade and a nice breeze, so it actually made for a really relaxing vibe. I got an Americano (perfectly bold and smooth), and my BFF went with a mocha--both were so good. Went to Casa Azul 4 separate times to try and give it a chance but each time the drinks were disappointingly bland or constructed poorly. And upon the last visit I tried to order simple drinks and was met with confusion from the barista. It was difficult trying to order a simple drip coffee with syrup, and an Americano. The Americano was even made as a latte (at least the build of the drink was made with so much creamer/milk that it tasted like one). A watery unflavored latte at that. This place definitely has its priorities set on aesthetics rather than making good coffee. Disappointing, but I don't think I'll be giving casa azul a 5th try. read more

Went here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was outstanding the employees and atmosphere was amazing. The coffee was great just wish they would have serve me my coffee in a regular cup vs a to go cup which was the reason I didn't take a picture as the to go cup would do it justice. This place sort of reminded me of a senaduría you'd see in Mexico, which was the cool part, but other than that wasn't a fan of my drink. I ordered the maza pan latte. I've ordered Mazapan lattes in multiple places and I usually know what to expect but this one was a real letdown. There was no mazapan in there and didn't taste like it at all. Also, the oatmilk that they used was too oaty (if that's even a word.) it wasn't a good combo for espresso. Lastly I'd like to point out that the customer service was lacking. Great coffee shop to go to for yummy coffee drinks and a place to catch up or work. I also love how they have a small children's area that has books and magazines. Their patio is huge and shaded. This is my first time checking out cute cafe, and they were very patient to explain the menu. I liked my drink (Mexican mocha), there was a chocolaty flavor without it being too sweet! My sister go the sweet potato drink (special) -- the sweet potato mash/syrup wasn't strong and she realized it had all settled to the bottom, so mix your drink! Parking there is a small lot, but also street parking. Be aware that they do lock the gates to the parking lot at closing time! My sister and I went for a walk around the area after grabbing coffee and didn't move our car. Thankfully someone was still there about 30 minutes after close, and graciously let us out! read more

I'll rate it a 3 because the drink I got as well as my sisters are pretty good. The coffee shop is busy but large place so doesn't feel crowded when you walk in. The baristas', majority of them are somewhat welcoming. The lady that helped us with our orders....not so much. As a first time customer I was not really welcomed with good energy and that's one thing that a barista should have with customers wanting coffee..when I asked what coffee was good all I got was "all of them are good" in a monotone annoyed voice. When I asked for her favorite she gave me a bland answer that didn't sound convincing so I chose one that peaked my interest and also way too sweet the coffee flavor was still there. I had never been to this café before, even though I literally live just a minute or two away. I was a little iffy about trying it since coffee spots can be either a hit or miss, but my mom and sister went and sent me a photo, telling me how delicious everything was. They had one of the coffees and some Mexican bread, so I decided to check it out the next day. I ended up getting the churro latte and a concha, and let me just say it was one of the best coffees and one of the best conchas I've ever had. Way better than the ones you usually find at the small Mexican marketplaces. The concha was so soft and chewy, and everything was just amazing. Honestly, it felt heavenly. I also want to shout out the staff because they're super friendly and helpful. Whoever is running this café is doing a great job, and you can tell by how happy everyone is when they walk in. Staff here are super friendly and helpful with making a great drink! She made the best hot tea with milk, cinnamon and another flavor. It paired perfectly with the pastry! The pastry was wonderful heated with a soft Fluffy texture and just the perfect amount of sweetness. The prices are much more affordable here, so try a few items! It feels like a family home you're stepping into and the inside feels comfortable, with plenty of seating and great Hispanic and Mexican art around the space. The coffee was phenomenal! I had a churro late and my wife had the Mexican mocha and both were delicious. The barista was also very friendly, offering recommendations and welcoming us to the area. Our parents are from Guanajuato ( world renowned state in Mexico due to their cajeta amongst other things). The churro latte had cajeta which is different than dulce de leche as it is made with goat's milk. If you have not had it, you're missing out. It's like 10 times better than dulce de leche. Not bias at all! We got a pan dulce as well and that was yummy. I loved the ofrenda they had up celebrating Día de Los Muertos. We sat right by it, made ourselves cozy and enjoyed our cafecitos.
