Stopped by to work on some stuff and grab some coffee. I would say this cafe has a moderate amount of seating and has a cute/modern ambiance. Free WiFi and good for socializing or working on a laptop. Mostly curbside parking as well. I ordered a cortado with oat milk and honey vanilla since unfortunately they do not carry caramel syrup. I wasn't greeted in compared to other customers I witnessed during my experience. The cafe was extremely crowded on a Saturday afternoon which I found surprising with no seating available. There's a ground level and an overlooking area which I like aesthetically with additional seating. Luckily after walking around to find a seat by the time my drink was ready, I was able to grab a seat. There are outlets along the walls making it easy to charge up wherever you sit. The coffee wasn't remarkable and I found it to be a little bitter but it was okay. I was disappointed with the lack of Christmas type drinks and opted for one of the fall themed drink. I enjoyed the ambiance and was able to spend a few hours reading my book and enjoyed the amount of light and respect for quiet in the cafe. I've been here before when I was introduced by a Yelp event. It is a really cute place with decent seating. I went later in the day and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't crowded. I couldn't tell because the parking was still challenging but I was able to find a spot. When I made it in I ordered a coffee and was excited that they had a pumpkin flavored coffee. What I didn't notice before I ordered is that they charged $1.50 for oat milk, so when I got done my drink it was almost $10. I was hoping with paying that much it was going to be the best coffee I'd had, but it was just okay. It didn't have a lot of pumpkin flavor but it was a good cup of coffee. It is a convenient location because it is right by my kids after school program. I may go back but next time I won't get extras unless I have extra funds. read more

Best coffee! Flavored isn't too sweet. We came here for afternoon coffee and dessert after a Zoo date and it was adorable. The croissant muffin and croissant monkey bread muffin were to die for!!! I recommend coming to Roots Coffeehouse! It's a nice coffeeshop where you can study/work. I like that there is a big study table in the back for group study sessions. The chairs are also very comfortable, especially if you're there for a few hours working. The baristas are kind, and the service was quick the times I went! I honestly was not a huge fan of their chai. However, I really liked their London fog. I appreciate that they have a variety of food options asides from pastries, such as acai bowls and different kinds of toasts. I did not see a parking lot. There's street parking. read more

This is a coffee PLUS quick bites, beer, & wine. Great ambiance, cool modern place to visit with some friends, or just read/study. It was surprisingly pretty busy at 3:30pm. Parking could be a bit tricky during peak of business/lunch hours. There was one barista/cashier, so it was almost a 10-minute wait to get a cup of coffee. I wasn't too impressed with the peanut brittle coffee, very mild taste, neither sweet or bitter, mostly just creamy. They were pretty quiet for a Monday morning, but could be due to the holiday approaching. There was only one barista working, so it took a minute before I could order, but that was understandable. I liked the peanut brittle cappuccino, but would be interested in trying something new next time. I decided to order a guava pop tart as well which was really good. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. No one greeted us at all--even when we said hello first. They were talking to every other customer who came in, but completely ignored us. When our order was finally ready, they never called our name. It just sat there, and we had to figure it out ourselves. On top of that, the WiFi was down and no one bothered to mention it, even though they saw us trying to connect. Even had a conversation amongst themselves about the wifi not working, but still never told us until after we asked. Overall, the service was unfriendly and unprofessional. Between the lack of acknowledgment, no communication, and the general attitude, this was honestly some of the worst service I've had at a coffee shop. I won't be returning. read more

Peanut brittle cappuccino tasted awful! It may be an acquired taste cappuccino. I'm an everyday coffee drinker and I love peanut brittle. Shocked I didn't enjoy it. I recommend the strawberry & blueberry cheese danishes. I ordered the passion fruit cheesecake. However, I tasted no passion fruit. It tasted more like mango, and I noticed mango and passionfruit were listed on the receipt. I wouldn't order the cheesecake again due to the lack of passionfruit. Urban vibes, Feels like a coffee shop you would see on a college campus. Location has been open more than 5 years. Service- 5 - Everyone was very nice and helpful with all of our questions. Barista was quick. Cleanliness- 4 - the shop was clean and tidy. All of the seating was fabric covered and could be updated, but comfortable. Parking- 3 - very limited, free on weekends, 1 hr limit during the week. Street parking is tight. Taste- 5 - This latte was to die for. Highly recommended. Pastries- 3 - Local vendors. Few additional food options. Variety- 3 - Basic drink options, some seasonal, only two sizes available, few food options. Presentation- 3 - We ordered 'for here', but were given to go cups. The most perfect, ethereal sunlight comes in from their front window. The setting is comfy and cute. Lots of velvet and bright colors. And vibes!! Super nice people. And more tattoos here than I've seen the entire time I've lived in Texas. Food was okay! To be fair, I don't do much plant based and I ordered a plant based sandwich. Whenever I visit a new city, trying a new cafe is a must! I was in Fort Worth for a short weekend and Roots Coffeehouse looked very appealing from their Instagram. This location is in an artsy district downtown with lots of shops/restaurants I wish I had time to check out. I love the exterior to this space! The inside was also super cute. I was very intrigued by the pinewood latte as I have never had pine in coffee before. It was absolutely delicious. The baristas pulled great shots that were not at all bitter! My latte was so good I had to get another. I also tried the hazelnut latte. My mother got the americano, as she is a strictly black coffee drinker and said it was amazing and super smooth! I absolutely enjoy new flavors in my coffee and this place has it. Bourbon coffee, cider chai, etc. they have a standard menu and seasonal. They have different cups depending on the drink (glassware is important), and cute decor and seating. Im not a fan of the "tip" question when establishments swipe the card, especially when its counter service and the cup sizes for water are crazy small, but thats maybe bc they ran out of bigger cups? Its still a place you must check out...wish more coffee shops opened up around the berry and 8th intersection, but for now, Roots and Crude are my faves for the south side area. This is a hard review to write. Roots was MY FAVORITE Fort Worth coffee spot. I live in the area and there are at least three other coffee spots nearby but I kept going back to roots because not only is the coffee good, but the staff are also so friendly and endearing. They know my dog by name and give her treats, they chat about the neighborhood and give good community info and even remembered by birthday! BUT in the past few months I noticed some of my favorite baristas weren't working. Turns out a new management took over and let some people go without cause. That really doesn't sit well with me and will be going there less. A note to the new management, the people were what made roots special and the community DOES notice. To anyone who also misses Brian, I hear he is at Pax and Beneficia now! Shout out to Alyssa and Slade who are still at roots and brighten my day whenever I come in. read more

Dig the heck out of this place! Located on the up and coming (can we really say that anymore?) Near southside parking would be a challenge on a busy day but it is FREE. Early on a Sunday morning I had my choice of spaces. There is street level seating inside, upstairs seating and a few tables outdoors. Take your pick! They have this coaster that says share my table on one side and roots on the other. Basically - do you feel like making a new friend today or not? On your first visit you get a $2 gift certificate for a future visit. Today I had the honey vanilla latte which is very good. All lattes come in 12 oz pours unless you ask for a to-go cup which is 16 ounces. For food i went with the bruschetta toast which is tasty with a slight bit of heat so if you don't like spicy be sure to ask for no red pepper flakes. There is music playing in the background so soft I almost didn't notice. Perfect! I don't want to have to talk over the music ANYWHERE but that's for another soapbox. Ha.
