While exploring the Stockyards area, a friend and I stopped into Avoca Coffee Roasters for a quick caffeine break before watching the cattle drive. I ordered an iced matcha, while my friend kept it simple with an iced coffee/cold brew? I don't know what the official name is. What I do know, however, was that my matcha was excellent! Smooth, earthy, refreshing, and thankfully not overwhelmingly sweet like some matcha drinks can be. It was the perfect thing to sip on while standing outside watching the longhorn cattle make their way through the streets of Fort Worth. The shop itself seemed pretty busy, but the staff handled the crowd very efficiently. Our drinks came out quickly, the line moved smoothly, and the overall vibe was that of a great coffee shop. The prices also looked pretty reasonable, especially considering the location in a heavily visited tourist area. All in all, this was a great little coffee stop in the Stockyards, quick, tasty, and exactly what we needed in the middle of a fun afternoon exploring Fort Worth. The only coffee shop in the stockyards I could find! The name sounded vaguely familiar and after a quick search I noticed they had multiple locations in Fort Worth. I stopped in around 1 PM on a Saturday and it was BUSY. There are 2 levels to the shop with the downstairs being mainly to order and the upstairs has seating. The downstairs was crowded while people who ordered waited for their coffee. Service was quick and we made our way outside (outside tables were extremely wobbly so be cautious!). The latte was okayyy I wasn't blown away (I ordered a specialty latte). While drinking it I wished I had just ordered a classic because it really was nothing special. All in all glad we had a coffee option but wouldn't come out of my way to go here unless you're looking for cowboys/stockyards charm read more

The coffee is solid and the coffee shop is beautiful. I really enjoyed a nice hot coffee on such a cold day. The bourbon butterscotch was very well balanced and delicious. The batistas are helpful, but the shop itself does not validate parking and if I was exploring the stockyards it wouldn't be an issue because you pay 22 for parking for the day, but I was not there for the stockyards. I stopped in to complete my coffee passport (spent around 15 minutes total in the parking spot due to walking from parking to the coffee shop, waiting to order and get me drink, then looking into the parking payment). For just the coffee and there being no validating, it was not worth the 22 dollars I had to pay for parking. read more

I was really disappointed with my recent visit. The customer service was noticeably poor -- the barista wasn't friendly at all and didn't acknowledge the fact that my drink was poorly made. A must when you come to the Stockyards. Whenever we come to the Stockyards, we stop by Avoca to pick up an Americano. My husband ordered the Americano and I ordered a floral tea. We both enjoyed our drinks. I believe this is the only coffee shop in the area. It's a small waiting area, but there's more space upstairs. This place is so good. My sister and I stopped in before heading to the rodeo. I ended up getting the bourbon butterscotch latte and a cheese danish. She had the salted brown sugar latte. The coffee was good. They got one item in the order wrong but then immediately fixed it. They were super busy but they kept the line moving quickly. It was a very small space so the line was squished and there wasn't much room inside. But there was an upstairs seating area if you do want to sit, and it's more fun to get the coffee and walk around the stockyards anyways. read more

My rating is more of a 3.5 than a 4 but it was a more positive experience than negative so I rounded up. Having worked at a coffee shop myself, I feel like I'm a lot pickier than I used to be. The ambiance of Avoca is so nice. If you're lucky, you will be able to have the shop pretty much all to yourself. The upstairs seating is a loft like space that overlooks the bottom floor so you can see all the visitors coming in. I had a great time with my friends chatting but some people wanted to study here in this small small shop of all places in the most busy part of town and gave us looks when we were laughing and having fun. I don't know who set the expectation that you could study here but it's not the place. The girl who took my order was very sweet. My latte I got was alright- not spectacular but they make their own syrups which is amazing and it's more of a third wave coffee shop which I appreciate as well. You will have a hard time accessing the restroom as they only have one. I had to wait a while which wasn't what I wanted to spend 20 minutes waiting for but what can you do. I know it's everywhere now but I wish the coffee was less pricey since I'm lactose intolerant so I always ask for oat milk. But other than that really no further complaints. Overall if you are hot outside DO stop here for a refreshing and cold drink! read more

Avoca was the perfect distance from my hotel, Springhill Suites. If you're starting here or anywhere near the Stockyards, consider giving them a try! Loved the decor and music; fantastic ambiance. I was disappointed by the lack of syrups to add to lattes; only three were available when I went (vanilla, honey, or stevia). Rather limited compared to other coffee shops I've been to. The workers weren't very friendly either, rather standoffish. I wasn't greeted when I came in, no one responded when I said thank you, and only one of the baristas acknowledged me when I said have a great day as I was leaving. The coffee was pretty good. Not overly sweetened. Great location to stop by while shopping, but if you value caramel lattes (my personal favorite so I was very sad they didn't have any caramel syrup), maybe try somewhere else. I've been to this Avoca in The Stockyards at least 4 times, and I'm always happy to come in and give it another shot. For one, there aren't any other coffee shops in the Stockyards. I mean, you can get coffee pretty much anywhere and you can get great coffee at a few restaurants , but there are no exclusive coffee houses like this, and naturally I enjoy dipping into a cozy coffee spot during any Stockyards visit; a brief relief from all the commotion and cowboys. A place that doesn't feel like a western film set (which I actually often enjoy). I'm a big fan of Avoca and I love their product, though this location has left me feeling a little underwhelmed several times. On my most recent visit there was only 1 customer ahead of me at the register and one couple already waiting for their items. Jon and I thought "it's not too busy, let's get a quick espresso shot!" But it took a full 15+ minutes. Turns out the espresso machine was having trouble and they were working on it, but no one mentioned anything about that until I asked about 15 minutes in. We got them to-go as it was getting crowded by then and we had Winnie with us. When we did try our shots, they were so soooo bitter, we couldn't finish them. I imagine their espresso was overpacked or over-extracted, it just had that unmistakable bitter-burnt taste that avid espresso-drinkers have likely and unwittingly experienced now and again. We all know and don't love it, but these things happen. I don't take stars away in reviews for things like 1 bitter espresso shot. I didn't ask for a new one or a refund, I didn't even tell them because I'd taken our order to-go and we were on our way out with a tired 2 year old. That's on me! Avoca has excellent coffee. I'm giving 3 stars because I feel like this spot hasn't had very friendly service (like I kind of feel like a burden?) and because the wait has been unusually long even when it's not busy and even when the espresso machine is working properly. It's a really nice vibe though, overall. Very cute and chill, really cool local art on the walls. There's a couple tables downstairs and more seating upstairs, but ultimately it's a pretty tiny space. It fills up fast, especially when there's cowboy boots and hats involved. read more

As city slickers from the north, it was a relief to find fine roasted coffee at 8am while everything was closed until 10am. The scent of fresh roasted coffee was enticed us to stay awhile. They also served beer on tap! We enjoyed our first cup of hot coffee with quiche listening to country music on the sidewalk, while the town was bustling with dedicated workers cleaning and prepping up the town's pavements with power washers. We went for a second serving, this time ice coffee to cool us down as we strolled exchange place and waited for the longhorns to parade (@11:30am) down the street which you can view from the cafe. read more
