The pastries are fine for a quick stop and appear similar to bulk items from stores like Costco. In the past, they sold a bottled cold brew that was great. They also feature a catering menu with Kenyan items such as Mandazi and samosas. Husband and wife Tweety and Patrice Angwenyi co-own the business. Apparently, they started the company in 2019 by roasting coffee in their one-bedroom apartment. Both owners formerly worked as high school educators before transitioning. Patrice grew up in Fort Worth's Historic Southside. Tweety was raised on a family-operated coffee farm in Kenya. Having lived in Kenya, I recognize him likely originating from an Ekegusii family in Kisii County. The real appeal of the business is the community the owners have built. While I am not part of the culture, their mission is faith-based, Black-owned. The owners define the word "hustle" as an acronym for "Help Us See The Light Everywhere". Beyond serving coffee, they host Saturday co-ed Bible studies, collaborate with neighborhood organizations, and mentor at-risk teenagers.
