My husband and I have tried to eat at the Sycamore School Road Sunny's Cafe twice, and both times it was closed, even though Google says it's open until 9:00 PM. To make matters even more confusing, the phone number listed for the Sycamore location (817) 349-9823 is the same number listed for the 3000 SE Loop 820 location. When I called the number, someone answered and insisted they were open until 9:00 PM, despite us standing outside the Sycamore location looking at a closed restaurant. This creates a frustrating experience for customers. If the Sycamore location has different hours or a different phone number, please update your Google listing. Right now, there's no way to know which location you're actually calling or whether the Sycamore restaurant is open. I can't comment on the food because we haven't been able to eat there after making the drive twice. I hope the business corrects its hours and contact information so future customers don't waste a trip. read more

Several of the ladies went to Sunny's after church last Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the food. Some of us had breakfast omelets while others had meatloaf or Chicken fried steak. They had a choice of 6 sides and every one of us were pleased. So pleased in fact, we went back again today. This place is proof that you should never judge a book by its cover. The looks aren't great but the food is good! The service was good. Only thing that really threw me off was a sign in the women's bathroom that said " do not put toilet paper in the toilet and please remember to flush" the restaurant is a little hole in the wall but definitely worth checking out! read more

this place is more like 3.5 out of 5 stars. Not sure what happened, but this place doesn't really serve italian food. This place is more like a diner restaurant.... think meatloaf and chicken fried chicken/steak and burgers/sandwiches. Anyways, i rarely come to this area. And was looking for something to get for dinner. When we parked right in front, i felt weird as it was completely empty inside and i thought it was closed. For the food, we ended up getting two different daily specials. The daily specials come with an entree with two different sides. The interior is simple with scattered tables and a few booths. Jessica greeted us and pointed out the daily specials listed on a small chalk board on the counter. I had the meatloaf and it was delicious. It's tucked away in a strip mall in kind of a weird neighborhood in Wedgwood and there's not a ton of atmosphere but it's definitely worth overlooking all that. Decent service, salad, and garlic bread that comes with the meal. I enjoyed the supreme pizza. I wasn't a fan of the chicken alfredo pasta or funnel cake. I always add parmesan cheese to my pasta if there is none. They had parmesan cheese on the back counter. The female owner stated the pasta had enough cheese where parmesan wasn't needed. I'm glad I added it because I didn't taste any cheese in the pasta. The pasta didn't have a flavor to it and the funnel cake was a little hard. The female owner showed me around the establishment. The pizza immediately caught my eye & it was delicious (forgot to photograph my very large multi-topping pizza slice, fresh out of the oven), but another guest later recommended the chicken Parmesan & I wished I had reviewed the menu in more depth. I was delighted to learn they also offer some Balkan (Bosnian) items, so I returned in the evening for the Chevapi, a traditional Bosnian dish of mini hamburger sausages, sliced onion, on Bosnian bread, which was such a pleasant surprise & departure from the Italian pizza, pasta, & salad menu. What a pleasant surprise! My Chicken Fried Steak at Sunny's was tender and delicious, with almost NO gristle. The batter was excellent; you could cut the tenderized steak with a fork. The cream gravy was a bit cool; but, they took care of that immediately! The meal was served with (real) mashed potatoes and a dinner salad. The yeast rolls were homemade, as are their pies and cakes, which looked delicious. Our server, Jessica, was friendly and attentive. I gave my CFS a rating of 4.5 stars (out of five)! My friends and I all had the day's special that included many tasty vegetables in the spaghetti sauce. The salad was fresh and we had plenty of food to take home for dinner.
