I had a bacon cheeseburger and curly fries and my husband had Thousand Island burger and seasoned fires. I ended up dipping my burger in a little ketchup bcs it was pretty dry (never do) but really enjoyed my curly fries. I just left this restaurant after my second visit. The first visit was not great, but because of the good reviews, I decided to try it a second time. Based on the second experience, I'll never understand the good reviews. To start with, the girl on the counter taking orders was clueless. I repeated my simple order of a cheeseburger and onion rings three times. She didn't understand that I wanted a bottle water, and just seem to care less about any transaction. When the food came, the burger was dry and the onion rings that I thought were battered and breaded in house were obviously processed and delivered through their Foodservice distributor. Ummmm this is DEFINITELY a diamond in the rough!! The gentleman behind the counter ( Sergio)was very nice and helpful! He definitely holds the place down!!The place got busy quick but it has like a homey type vibe. The food was yummy, I ordered the chili cheese fries and I was surprised on how good it was!! The service here is excellent and the restaurant is extremely clean. I love that they will sell you just the burger patties. It makes it easy to stay carnivore and not feel ripped off for having to pay a full burger price when you only want a patty. The seasoning is different, I didn't love it, hence the four stars. This is a really good burger! I stopped in here during the recent big snow / ice storm and they were not only open, but busy! The special that day was the mushroom Swiss burger which I was going to get anyway, so I got a great deal as well. First time for me at J's Restaurant. Found some great Yelper comments. Small place, has both small tables and a few larger group tables. The place is very clean. You go to the counter to order and prices seem reasonable. There are quite a few choices of burgers, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and desserts. They have Daily BSpecials...nice I lucked out and ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger...and it's a Daily Special. WOW! This is a great burger!!! It has such flavor!! Loved it!! I wasn't sure about the seasoned fries as I usually just like salt on my fries. These fries were really good! There were a few fries that could have been crispier, but overall were good. I found myself in the area. I'm never on this side of town, but wanted to try something new and OMG I'm glad I picked this place. It's a place that has burgers and sandwiches and bring me, wanted to try the habanero cheeseburger. I've had habanero burgers from other places, but never have they set my mouth on fire like this (prob whatever habanero sauce they use and the fresh, grilled habaneros) It was amazing. I don't do Mayo, so got mustard instead. The burger was also much larger than I was expecting. Next up the fries. Lots of people commenting on the seasoning, but I found that just ok and maybe a bit too much on it. What I liked though, they tasted like they were made with actual potatoes and not frozen basic fries which made all of the difference. Was in the area and was looking for a burger place that wasn't fast food/chain and saw the reviews for J's Restaurant and had to try it. It did not disappoint! This hole in the wall is worth every penny. The burger has a nice papery taste and is super juicy. I saw the menu said the burger was 1 pound, but I was in a hurry and didn't think much of it. Well this burger was so huge I could barely finish it, and I am a big eater. All this for only $12 bucks is a steal. This would easily cost like 25 bucks, if not more, at a bigger restaurant or chain these days. There wasn't many people there yet it took a bit of time to come out, but I'm not knocking any points for it. The food was piping hot, so I know I got the freshest food possible. Bit into it and was immediately like, wow, this is good. Overall a great experience, will be back. I will note, there's a sign at the front regarding a fee for paying with your card. I get it it, totally am cool with it and had I known, would have brought cash. I think the wording might be a bit overkill but again, I get it. So if you can, bring cash. It's on the corner of a old shopping strip. It has bright yellow letters, which makes it easy to find. Unfortunately, there was some trash outside. Parking is upfront and on the side. J"s Restaurant has black shades that block out the sun. You cant see inside but, you can see outside. Inside there's a lot of open space and tables are placed along the wall. Social distancing reminders are on the floor. They require a mask or they will not provide service to you. Do us all a favor and mask up. I walked in. A young edgy short female Latina quickly helped me with my order. She had a really sweet voice. She mentioned, that my combo could come with a fountain drink or a bottle Coca-Cola. Just to let you know, they have Cherry Coke and Gold Peak Tea. Tea is available, in sweet, unsweetened, and Raspberry. Honestly, I do not see this option too often. There was one Mexican guy in the restaurant sitting by himself. He was so entertained with whatever he was looking at on his phone. He was just laughing up a storm. Later, a Mexican lady who was casually dressed , came in with a young litter girl. They must have called in their order. I did the same thing. They were in and out real quick. Ugg, my Burger bun seemed burnt!? However, it was just deep brown. On the inside of the bun, it was slightly toasted . The edges of the bun were golden. This made the mayo melt all over the bun. It was actually pretty good. My burger was just the right size. It maintained its shape and never fell apart. It was flavored with the taste of Black Pepper. My lettuce was crisp and chopped into small pieces. My fries were SOOOOOGGY! I hate fries like that! The fries were similar to Wing Stop. The fries were warm with a subtle taste of seasoning . This was a great hole in the wall burger joint. Allow me to first mention that there is a cigar lounge a few shops south in the same building. When we walked into the restaurant we could smell the mixture of grease and tobacco smoke. It wasn't the best smell, the smoke from the cigar lounge must me sleeping through the ceiling into this establishment. Not anything the staff can really handle, but it's there. My wife almost couldn't stay it was that bad. We did notice a large amount of to go orders, even the ones that stopped in to order didn't stay inside, we wondered if this was why. That out of the way, the rest of the experience was good. This is what I'd call an old greasy spoon. Old school family owned burger joint. It says J's Restaurant, but it's all burgers and some sandwiches, better tent is J's Burgers. It's a counter order and then sit down establishment. They do bring your food to you. Wife and I had the Mega Extreme Cheeseburger. Had a lot of stuff on it! See the pic of the menu I've added. Wife had the Mushroom Burger. The Mega was slightly bigger than the Mushroom burger in width. The Mega is a 1/2 pound of meat. The Mushroom I'd guess is 1/3, best guess. These burgers are obviously not frozen. These are hand pressed on sight. You can tell by the texture of the burger as well as being able to see into the kitchen from where we sat. The buns are toasted on the grill, gave it more structure and it had a butter flavor. The fries were really good and they throw seasonings on it after pulled from the fryer. These are some really good juicy and tasty burgers. Some of the best we've had so far in the Ft Worth area. It doesn't have the atmosphere for an intimate date night, but it's definitely a good night out for some good food. read more

I'm so glad I found this little cute little neighborhood restaurant when I searched for great burgers. (A friend and I are on a quest for the best little-known burger joint in Tarrant County and this spot is definitely in the running!) The food was fresh and delicious. I got the Thousand Island Burger and my friend had the Guacamole Burger. We opted for the combos with seasoned fries and fountain drinks.
