Ft. Worth burger week brought me out to BigKat. I was a little confused when I got there, I was looking for a food truck. Apparently they are a former food truck that now runs the kitchen inside of Crystal Springs Hideaway. I ended up sitting at the bar with the Lindas (there were three of them). It was early in the day so I did not join them for a drink, I was just getting out to try something new and support the North Texas Food Bank. The special for burger week was the Zaddy which came with pickled red onion, lettuce, goat cheese, fresh jalapenos and raspberry jam on a potato bun. Their burgers are 1/4 and unfortunately the meat got completely lost under so much going on. Goat cheese and raspberry are powerful flavors and the jalapeno slices were thicker than the patty. I didn't even taste the pickled red onions. The very last bite was more meat than topping and I could actually taste the beef. It is a shame because it was really good. The quality of the meat and the sear on the burger were well done. Their regular priced burgers range from $10.50 to $14, and sides are extra. It is pretty steep for a 1/4 lb burger, and I would suggest something with a bit less flair. read more

When I looked this place up online, I was expecting a completely different experience. I thought we were going to a hangout type courtyard with a food truck and other vendors. This was more like a sports bar to me. It looks like a house from outside. They have a deli, bar and burger place all together. We walked in and the lady behind the deli said to sit anywhere and you could order anything from the table. We were immediately asked to open a tab, which was fine, just unexpected. We were really there just to try the burgers and look around. You can't really get up and look around while you're ordering from a table. Our waitress was new but still seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. Our food came out hot and fresh. We only had the burgers. They were juicy and good, but could have used some salt and pepper. The burgers are on the small side. Quarter pound patty burgers without a side are nearly $13 and it was five dollars to make it a double. I think this is worth calling out - you get your moneys worth at BigKats and something I absolutely appreciate. Let me just say, there ain't NO burger like a bigkat burger. That's a lot coming from me because I've never been a big burger person. These burgers are very filling and worth every penny. The flavors are definitely there. The fries could use a little work as I like mine crispy vs soft but they are still flavorful. It's a food truck so ambiance doesn't really exist if you're looking for that and my man always brings it to me so I can't personally speak on it, however my man had a full conversation with the owner and liked him and this particular day it was pouring and the owner gave the fries free due to making it out in such horrible weather and it being slow(such a nice treat/gesture). I have been back since and plan to be a repeat. I hope he makes it on the food network or something. read more

It was a glorious meal. I would try something else next time- I think regular burger toppings would be my preference over the mushroom Swiss taste profile but this was darn good. When I saw this was a food truck, I was somewhat turned off. When I took a bite of my burger, I thought this place may be one of the best burgers in ft worth?! I wanted the peanut butter boi, but they ran out. Im not sure how one runs out of adding peanut butter to a burger, but I went instead with the last stand (or was it last call?), since it had one patty rather than two. The buns are the biggest factor to how good this was. They have pillow soft, buttery brioche buns that never got mushy or fell apart while eating. The meat was good, although I could have gone with medium instead of well done on how they cooked it. The toppings all stood out, especially the crispy bacon. The taste profile reminded me alot of a JITB ultimate cheeseburger, which threw me off a little, but I guess its the texture of the cheese and aioli that had me thinking this? While I dont know when the next time I will eat here, I will say I hope to try more of their menu. read more

The burgers were cooked fresh and were huge and my hubby ordered the loaded fries without reading the description and we didn't realise they had a whole burger sliced up on top of those also, we definitely had leftovers. It took a while to get our food but it was a Sunday and pretty busy also everything is cooked fresh so worth the wait. The guys were cool and friendly and there were a few benches and seats where you could wait and enjoy the local artwork across the street. The staff was awesome it's hot as hell outside and there's no AC in that food truck those guys are sweating up a storm in there but they are super nice and friendly and very clean. I may have found my new favorite burger joint. SO good! The hubby got the mushroom swiss and I got the last chance. We tasted each others. WARNING: DO NOT PARK IN THE LOT AT NIGHT (without paying)! We got "citations" sent in the mail for $50 for parking in the lot without paying. The racket is run by SoMa Developers, who have signs which are sparsely placed in their completely unlit lot, which are impossible to see, saying that it's a paid lot. At 6:30 at the end of November, it was pitch black except for the food truck. So, be warned that it's a paid lot. And when I spoke to Bryce (the owner of BigKat) tonight, he said there's nothing he can do about it, and that even he's gotten a citation for his car. I asked him why he didn't have a sheet of paper on the front of his food truck window as you walk up warning people not to park there without paying or why patrons weren't warned by him or staff. He said that there were plenty of signs in the lot (not really, Bryce). What kind of genius sets up his food truck in a lot where he knows that citations are being issued to people on a regular basis for parking there and feels that the sparsely placed warning signs (easily blocked from sight by a vehicle parking there) with no lighting at night, and thinks he has zero duty to warn his customers? He doesn't even mention it on his website! I've NEVER been to an establishment where the parking lot adjacent to it or the parking lot it was in (like this one) didn't have easily viewed warning signs of payment requirements, valet requirements, time requirements, etc. in a very prominent display. Looking at a daylight picture on Google street view, there is one sign on the east side of the entrance (we came in from the west) and one to the left of the food truck as you walk up. But again, the lot is pitch black with no lot lights and no lights on the signs. And when I've been to establishments where parking is an issue, they always warn me, (for example: "If you parked on this side of the street, move your car because it's residents only.") Had it been during the day, the signs would likely have been easily visible. But there were four of us in four different vehicles visiting BigKat for the first time, and none of us saw that it was a paid lot. So Bryce is either not too customer-focused outside of making his food, gets kickbacks from his landlord, or has been told by his landlord that part of his rent agreement requires him not to proactively warn customers about the paid parking requirement. Maybe there's another explanation, but I can't think of one. (Bryce's explanation, if legit, and I believe that it is, falls under the "not too customer-focused outside of making his food" heading.) Anyway, the burger was good (not great) and the staff seemed friendly, so there's that. read more

Only in Fort Worth for a short time. I got the pho burger and fries and 10/10 soooo good.The burger was Sweet and spicy and so much flavor in one burger. They brought me ketchup, but didn't even need them for the fries they were so good. They gave me a side of pho broth which tasted delicious and an awesome touch to dip my burger in. Had burgers last night while at Hop Fusion. The burger has the potential to be awesome, but it was just ok. It was very one note even with LTOP and it wasn't salted at all. Please salt ur burgers! The bun was heavenly. Your fries are inedible due to the amount of salt, and just horrible! I wasn't expecting much from a food truck but 5 stars for service and OMG the flipping Tiki Burger rocked my freaking tastebuds like no burger has in a very very long time. Seriously - every bite had me singing praises. Also, the guy that took our order is a star. He started with good service by warning us of the paid parking space we initially pulled into then followed with the courtesy of letting my husband know his burger was larger than the container lid would hold down. He wanted to make sure he was cool with that given the cold weather. Icing on the cake - he walked our order out to our car! I am not a huge burger fan, but when something unique catches my eye, I must try it. I got the "veggie kat", which is their veggie burger. The "meat" of the burger is a big juicy portobello mushroom cap. The mushroom is grilled and topped with all the good stuff: feta, provolone, bell peppers, onion, tomato, arugula, sprouts, and polished off with avocado mayo! YUM. It was parked on the back side of a street. We walked up and there were three guys just chilling out, talking and laughing at the picnic tables outside. We approached and they were super nice. "Have you been here before?" We said no. They said something to the effect of "welcome to your new favorite burger spot!" They weren't kidding Turns out they're the owners. All best friends. Super chill and friendly. They were great with the recommendations. I'm visibly pregnant and they offered to take the weight of my burger patty, split it in two, and make two smash patties instead to ensure they're cooked thoroughly. I thought that was the kindest offer. I ordered they're classic Kat burger. My husband ordered their Last Chance burger. Both of shared an order of fries. Holy cow... this place is flying way under the radar. Which is so surprising because their burgers have won local awards! Burger sizes were perfect. Big, but not make you feel like you gorged yourself big. Sauces were unique but good. The fries even were that perfect mix of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Okkkkkk this is a must try place! My pup and I just started coming to HopFusion to beat the heat and they have QR Code tents on the tables for BigKat Burgers. Pro tip- the first screen asks you what bar you're at and the corresponding QR#- that's out dated so just pick whatever number pops up (mine was HopFusion 25). I ordered the Classic Kat and added a side of jalapeño bacon jam - that's a must! Sooo good even with the fries. Speaking of fries- theirs are hot and crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside- so good. Ok ok but the BEST part of my experience was being able to order a plain unseasoned beef patty for my pup Chewy! Look at the joy on my little man's face!
