Burgers are still great, service too but... Had our usual trip to grumps for a great burger and yummy fries. Well, you can scratch the yummy fries. The corporate powers that be have changed the fries and they really suck now. Instead of the crisp, seasoned fries they used to serve the fries are now a bit thicker and mushy and gummy. It was NOT a preparation issue, it is a poor quality product. We were very disappointed and will never order them again. Hope the big wigs at Grumps realize that the money they may be saving isn't worth sacrificing to quality of the food they serve. read more

Found this spot on Yelp while looking for a new burger place to try near my office. Positive reviews and I like to try new spots...let's go! Location is on a corner, can be kinda tricky if you've never been here before--just something to be aware of. Immediately upon walking inside I knew I was in for a good burger, it smelled like a cookout. Checking the menu they have various burger options, but no set combos, so you have to "build your own". No problem. I had a standard single-patty cheeseburger and fries with a drink, total of $14...about the going rate these days. Food took a little bit to be delivered, but I knew it was being cooked fresh as I could see/hear it cooking while I was seated. Service was excellent, as I was asked if I needed my drink topped off or would like peanuts while I waited. For a counter-order location, I was impressed. Food arrived and it was time to eat. Burger is pretty good size for a single patty, and it was fantastic! Grilled perfectly, cheese was melted, fries were crispy and hot. I'd been wanting to try Grump's in River Oaks for quite sometime. I'm usually passing by on Sundays when they're closed. This time I'm passing by on Saturday and it's my chance to visit. And boy am I glad I did! The food was delicious! I had the mushroom Swiss cheeseburger, and my friend had a regular cheeseburger. Nice and juicy. We had chili cheese fries which were as good as any I've ever tasted. They serve Dublin's soda pops made with real cane sugar. That's a major plus, too! The staff is friendly and the dining area is nicely decorated with old style advertising signs. And they have complimentary peanuts to snack on while your order is being prepared. Went here on a suggestion. Grumps did not disappoint!! First time visitors and if we go back to the area we will def visit again. We got there and the parking lot was packed - good sign! You stand in line to order. Staff was friendly. They also have free peanuts. The kids there seemed to really enjoy that! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and added grilled green chili's. I was so excited to see that as an add on option because it's been a while since I've had a green chili burger. The bacon was cooked good and I liked it with the chili's. We also got one of their specialty burgers. Can remember the name - think it started with an R. Hubs liked it. Burgers were really cooked well. The onion rings were so good. Can't always get a good onion ring at a burger joint. These were on point. Only thing we didn't love was the fried pickles. Husband thought they were a little thin. They weren't that bad though. I've been a regular customer of Grump's Burgers for a couple of years now. And man, let me tell you, this place is the real deal. Understand that burgers are MY comfort food. So when I tell you that Grump's is a real deal wonderful burger joint, I'm judging it against a lifetime of Kincaid's, of every top tier burger place in Fort Worth. And let's be honest here, there are plenty. Grump's has proven to me time and time again that theya re the real deal with amazing burgers. They are always made to order, theya re always cooked to perfection, and they are incomparably delicious. This place is wonderful and it is, without peer, my favorite place to eat. I cannot give them enough recommendations. I cannot, with words, praise their burgers enough. The atmosphere is pretty standard Americana. Plenty of detritus on the walls, fun little things like a "Christmas Story" lamp and a giant neon sign. Peanuts to snack upon as you wait. About what one expects from an eatery. But the product itself is always the star. The burgers are cooked to order. The fries are amazing but if you want something else, they have onion rings and tots and the like. The drinks are top tier since they offer Dublin sodas on their fountain. The best root beer you will ever taste and amazing soda and diet soda and the like. You WILL hit up the fountain again before you leave because it's wonderful. I also need to call out the staff who runs the place. They cannot be topped by any other restaurant. Friendly, nice, eager to please, and most of all welcoming and fun. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you like a Hamburger, Cheeseburger, etc, you simply cannot do better than Grump's. Pretty good for a burger joint! My burger was cooked to medium well (they all are) which was perfect! Nice and juicy. The beer was ice cold, the atmosphere gave off a retro vibe 80's sports/garage theme. You do need to walk up and order your food, but they serve it to you. The staff was friendly and checked in on us from time to time. We finished off our meal with a scoop of ice cream! Since everything is fresh to order, it can take sometime to get your order however, they offer shelled peanuts to curb your appetite. The cons: Everything is a la carte, which is fine but I had expected the side of fries and onion rings to be a lot larger considering price point and ability to share. Well, I was over by Grumps doing some laundry, and I decided to get the place another try for lunch while I waited. When I arrived about 12pm there were about 8 people in line and it took me 15 mins to get to the counter, when I finally got to the counter I ordered the guacamole hamburger with cheese, onion rings and a Ziegnbock draft which cost $16:47 and was told 18-20 mins wait. It was warm inside and I ended up waiting 21 minutes, the beer tasted watered down, the cheese on the burger wasn't even melted, and again there's just nothing special about the burger itself. Definitely not worth the overall 36 minute wait just to get it. The onion rings were good but just your every day beer battered most likely frozen onion rings, ranch was good. Unfortunately this review did not improve from the original and I can honestly say I seriously doubt I'll be returning to Grumps. Updating my review after about my 10th visit to Grump's. This place is one of my go to places when I want a delicious burger. The beer is ice cold and there are free peanuts while you're waiting for your food. All that in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff but there was something slightly off about every item I ordered, which included a side salad (wilted and turning lettuce), onion rings (served cold), the mushroom Swiss burger (something in the mushroom mix tasted like sweet relish--not the right flavor, and the burger itself was over-cooked) and the soda (now I'm just being picky, but give me Coke or Pepsi, not some off-brand home brew). The manager quickly replaced the onion rings with a fresh, hot basket, but the meal overall was a disappointment. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and they did not disappoint. We arrived a little before 11 and there were already people waiting outside, so I figure that was a good sign. Kid ordered the queso burger with a side of fries and a drink. I ordered a cheeseburger swapping regular onions for grilled with a Southern slush (bourbon & coke). The guy at the register was nice and let me taste a sample before committing, which I thought was very nice of him. Everything is ordered a la cart, so there are no combos. I think the price point is pretty decent for what you get. There was a little wait for our food, but it wasn't terrible. Food arrived fresh and hot. My burger was cooked well and was very tasty! I do wish there had been more grilled onions though. Kid liked his burger too, but most of the queso ended up in the container. That was ok, because it made a good dip for the fries (I stole a few). I've been here a couple of times now, but it's been a while year since I reviewed it, so wanted to update. Usually it's pretty good, but this time I had to remove a star because this time everything was so salty and the bacon wasn't so crispy this time. Otherwise was pretty good, but with the insane levels of salt, made it really hard to finish my food. The jalapeno bun was good and grilled perfectly and the veggies and BBQ sauce were great as well, but the food being that salty made it not as great as it would have been. Would just like to leave an atta-a-girl to the cashier today. I went in there about 2:00 to order take-out. When I received the food, I realized I had ordered the wrong thing. I had requested fries, not chips. Went back to the counter and explained my mistake. The young lady was fantastic, told me no problem, took my order and in about 5 minutes I had the correct food. I've passed by, but had never had Grump's Burgers before. Honestly, it was my loss! This is a quality, fresh burger! In a time when most burger places and going to gourmet, $17 burgers, Grumps is still serving a delicious, flavorful, standard burger, and I really enjoyed it. I tried corn nuggets as my side, because it seems an unusual burger accompaniment. While good, they weren't anything special, so I'll go for fries next time. And there will be a next time. I wasn't sure what to expect from a place called Grumps, but I can definitely say the burgers, the service, and the margaritas are worth the visit. It's is a very casual establishment. They serve complementary peanuts and have a bucket on the table for your shells. We had light appetites, and so shared a burger. It was perfectly cooked and had good flavoring. My daughter enjoy a boneless burger and a bowl and loved it! We ordered their spicy fries, which I loved! They were dusted with a nice flavored seasoning. I got a side of ranch dressing, to dip my fries in. It was a homemade ranch. Yum! I don't usually drink frozen margaritas, but my daughter, and I shared one. That, too, was delicious. It wasn't too sweet and syrupy tasting and had a nice balance of alcohol. The server was super sweet too. We went there yesterday for the first time. It's a really cute rustic environment. The staff were very friendly and I felt like we were genuinely welcomed. But most importantly the food was hot and very good. I had the junior hamburger combo and it was perfect for me. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and he really enjoyed it. The fries and sodas were delicious. And they also have free peanuts which of course are fun to crack open and eat. It was a really good dining experience and I highly recommend it. Mixed Reviews I gave 3 stars because my husband and I have mixed reviews. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was really, really good. I ordered the side salad and paid $3.99. I couldn't believe that it was extremely small. It was put in the little container they give you peanuts in.
