Found this spot on Yelp while looking for a new burger place to try near my office. Positive reviews and I like to try new spots...let's go! Location is on a corner, can be kinda tricky if you've never been here before--just something to be aware of. No problem. I had a standard single-patty cheeseburger and fries with a drink, total of $14...about the going rate these days. Food took a little bit to be delivered, but I knew it was being cooked fresh as I could see/hear it cooking while I was seated. Service was excellent, as I was asked if I needed my drink topped off or would like peanuts while I waited. For a counter-order location, I was impressed. Food arrived and it was time to eat. Went here on a suggestion. Grumps did not disappoint!! First time visitors and if we go back to the area we will def visit again. We got there and the parking lot was packed - good sign! You stand in line to order. Staff was friendly. They also have free peanuts. The kids there seemed to really enjoy that! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and added grilled green chili's. I was so excited to see that as an add on option because it's been a while since I've had a green chili burger. The bacon was cooked good and I liked it with the chili's. We also got one of their specialty burgers. Can remember the name - think it started with an R. Hubs liked it. Burgers were really cooked well. The onion rings were so good. Can't always get a good onion ring at a burger joint. These were on point. Only thing we didn't love was the fried pickles. Husband thought they were a little thin. They weren't that bad though. Pretty good for a burger joint! My burger was cooked to medium well (they all are) which was perfect! Nice and juicy. The beer was ice cold, the atmosphere gave off a retro vibe 80's sports/garage theme. You do need to walk up and order your food, but they serve it to you. The staff was friendly and checked in on us from time to time. We finished off our meal with a scoop of ice cream! Since everything is fresh to order, it can take sometime to get your order however, they offer shelled peanuts to curb your appetite. The cons: Everything is a la carte, which is fine but I had expected the side of fries and onion rings to be a lot larger considering price point and ability to share. Well, I was over by Grumps doing some laundry, and I decided to get the place another try for lunch while I waited. When I arrived about 12pm there were about 8 people in line and it took me 15 mins to get to the counter, when I finally got to the counter I ordered the guacamole hamburger with cheese, onion rings and a Ziegnbock draft which cost $16:47 and was told 18-20 mins wait. It was warm inside and I ended up waiting 21 minutes, the beer tasted watered down, the cheese on the burger wasn't even melted, and again there's just nothing special about the burger itself. Definitely not worth the overall 36 minute wait just to get it. The onion rings were good but just your every day beer battered most likely frozen onion rings, ranch was good. Unfortunately this review did not improve from the original and I can honestly say I seriously doubt I'll be returning to Grumps. Very friendly and attentive staff but there was something slightly off about every item I ordered, which included a side salad (wilted and turning lettuce), onion rings (served cold), the mushroom Swiss burger (something in the mushroom mix tasted like sweet relish--not the right flavor, and the burger itself was over-cooked) and the soda (now I'm just being picky, but give me Coke or Pepsi, not some off-brand home brew). The manager quickly replaced the onion rings with a fresh, hot basket, but the meal overall was a disappointment. Would just like to leave an atta-a-girl to the cashier today. I went in there about 2:00 to order take-out. When I received the food, I realized I had ordered the wrong thing. I had requested fries, not chips. Went back to the counter and explained my mistake. The young lady was fantastic, told me no problem, took my order and in about 5 minutes I had the correct food. Yum yum yummmm! Kid and I hitting up our "G" restaurant, so we decided on Grumps since we've never been and we always like a good burger. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and they did not disappoint. We arrived a little before 11 and there were already people waiting outside, so I figure that was a good sign. The inside is decorated with all kinds of different pictures, signs, and neon's. It's much larger inside than I thought it would be, with plenty of seating and some TV's playing sports. Kid ordered the queso burger with a side of fries and a drink. I ordered a cheeseburger swapping regular onions for grilled with a Southern slush (bourbon & coke). The guy at the register was nice and let me taste a sample before committing, which I thought was very nice of him. Everything is ordered a la cart, so there are no combos. I think the price point is pretty decent for what you get. There was a little wait for our food, but it wasn't terrible. Food arrived fresh and hot. My burger was cooked well and was very tasty! I do wish there had been more grilled onions though. Kid liked his burger too, but most of the queso ended up in the container. That was ok, because it made a good dip for the fries (I stole a few). I've been here a couple of times now, but it's been a while year since I reviewed it, so wanted to update. Usually it's pretty good, but this time I had to remove a star because this time everything was so salty and the bacon wasn't so crispy this time. Otherwise was pretty good, but with the insane levels of salt, made it really hard to finish my food. The jalapeno bun was good and grilled perfectly and the veggies and BBQ sauce were great as well, but the food being that salty made it not as great as it would have been. In a time when most burger places and going to gourmet, $17 burgers, Grumps is still serving a delicious, flavorful, standard burger, and I really enjoyed it. I tried corn nuggets as my side, because it seems an unusual burger accompaniment. While good, they weren't anything special, so I'll go for fries next time. And there will be a next time. I wasn't sure what to expect from a place called Grumps, but I can definitely say the burgers, the service, and the margaritas are worth the visit. It's is a very casual establishment. They serve complementary peanuts and have a bucket on the table for your shells. We had light appetites, and so shared a burger. It was perfectly cooked and had good flavoring. My daughter enjoy a boneless burger and a bowl and loved it! We ordered their spicy fries, which I loved! They were dusted with a nice flavored seasoning. I got a side of ranch dressing, to dip my fries in. It was a homemade ranch. Yum! I don't usually drink frozen margaritas, but my daughter, and I shared one. That, too, was delicious. It wasn't too sweet and syrupy tasting and had a nice balance of alcohol. The server was super sweet too. My grandson dropped his grilled cheese sandwich, and my husband offered twice to pay for another one. They simply wouldn't let him do it. They brought a freshly made one for him. Mixed Reviews I gave 3 stars because my husband and I have mixed reviews. My husband got the grilled chicken sandwich and said it was really, really good. I ordered the side salad and paid $3.99. I couldn't believe that it was extremely small. It was put in the little container they give you peanuts in.
