Think Cracker Barrel vibes, with farmhouse antiques on display and funny sayings on the walls. Pancakes this good = 5 stars. And we know pancakes. Eggs and bacon (a good, meaty cut) were also great, sausage patties were decent on our first visit and outstanding on our second visit. The pancake combo had a good amount of protein to balance the sweet of the pancake and was A LOT of food for only $13.99 (pancake, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy or toast). When I first tasted the pancake, my thought was, "Ohhh, man, I'm gonna need three of these delicious babies," but actually by the time I finished it, one was more than enough. The men said the same - they were too full to finish. Breakfast burrito was great, with hash browns mixed into it, a good amount of melty cheese, not too spicy with the jalapeños. There is a lot to choose from on the menu, and you can get almost anything a la carte so that you can order *precisely* what you are in the mood for. For the real test we took a party of seven on a Saturday morning. It was surprisingly not too busy to get a table right away. They got prepared to seat a party of seven, but like a lot of restaurants, won't actually seat you until the entire party arrives. It went perfectly. We also did not have trouble finding a parking spot. For those of you interested in supporting local, Blue Mound Cafes were started by a local family in 2020. Pretty decent and affordable. I'm surprised I haven't ate here yet. I got the hog heaven omelette. Pretty simple omelette with ham and cheese. You can't go wrong. The biscuits were big and fluffy, but the gravy was a little bland. The pancakes were good though. I didn't get to try my son's patty melt or my daughter's french toast. Those were gone quickly. The chefs should be talked to about timing and the manager Amy should be talked to about professionalism! We waited an HOUR and weren't happy with the food at all, it's not the same as the other locations. When I complained, the manager Amy was very rude and unprofessional & called someone to talk to about me like I did something wrong. Great spot!!!! We found this place on Yelp. It's close to our house, so we decided to try it. Staff was so friendly. I called ahead to see if they were on a wait. The weather wasn't the greatest that day, so even though they would usually be on a wait, they weren't, which was great. Hate to leave this review but it's necessary for the manager and or owners to know what their kitchen staff practices are. Was so excited to try a dish, made 2 modifications and the waitress assured me it was no problem-- have rhetorical hash browns on rhetorical side, extra crispy with jalapenos and onion cooked in. Saw the waitress write it down correctly. When it came out, the jalapenos and onion were on the biscuits and gravy, not hash browns that weren't xtra crispy. Waitress offered to take it back and I allowed her to as the order was incorrect. After a minimum of 15 minutes, I'm served the same not extra crispy hashbrowns, now with jalapeños and onion on it and more gravy covering up the old wrong order from before-- realized after I took the first bite and was looking for the bacon. It would literally take 5 minutes to put biscuits on a place, add your premade eggs (even cooking fresh scrambled eggs wouldn't take 15+ mins), a few minimal bacon crumbles, and a ladle of gravy. I have been going for years when it used to be Dixie House Cafe. A lot has changed as far as the food. The meatloaf is now cooked with what taste like a tomato base topping instead of the good old ketchup. Also, the chicken fried steaks are cooked differently. She said it would take too much time to use real eggs and we should have requested shell eggs. Manager asked how it was. Told her the deal, she said you could have requested shell eggs! Brought the wrong meal a third time. He was tired of waiting so just ate it. Was after we had all finished. Told me I could pay upfront when ready. Went to pay 10 mins later and could not find my ticket and when found had to add it up. Would not have minded had they been busy but that was hardly the case.
