Not overrated! The burnt ends and the Texas Twinkie were delicious. Loved the sides too, both had lots of seasoning. Their green beans were crisp and fresh and not cooked to mush like a lot of other places. Like a lot of good bbq, it was expensive. This was my 3rd visit to Hurtado. Last year I went for my birthday and the staff was so kind. Then my husband and I came for date night a month later. Today it was my choice for Mother's Day. We were greeted right away and before I even started the order, they gave me some flowers. That was a really nice touch of service. We got the brisket and pork belly burnt ends because we had loved them before. Today we also tried the garlic black pepper sausage and I got a birria taco. Also ordered a Texas Twinkie! Hurtados knows BBQ. Ribs are tender and tasty and MOIST! The perfect combination. Their burnt ends are other worldly. My absolute favorite. A slight sweet but tangy outer layer that makes your eyes roll back in your head. The Pulled pork equally as good. The turkey...drum roll is the best in Fort Worth. The brisket has the perfect outer crust while maintaining a moistness. Finally the Texas Twinkie....a stuffed jalapenos with pimento cheese and wrapped in bacon cooked in a BBQ sauce outer coating. Scrumptious! Damn, it's sooooo good. Here's where Hurtado rises above other BBQ's restaurants...(besides having great customer service) is their sides. The potato salad is Devine. Deliciously Devine. It has a little kick and is a mashed potato salad that is soooo dang flavorful. We literally almost fell out of our chairs when we tried the tater tot casserole. Unique in all the right ways. You order just inside the front door, where you're given a plastic number to set on your table for service. This place was busy...like, really busy. I was told it'd be a 15 minute wait. But 15 minutes turned into 30, and then 45. I was a little annoyed because nobody checked on us during this wait. Nobody. When the food arrived, the brisket was extremely fatty. If I had to estimate. I'd say it was a good 35% fat. The food was actually delicious, which is why this rating is getting a high mark. The potatoes salad is amazing. For real. A few things that we ordered. The trinity with ribs, brisket, sausage and a side of potato salad. Ribs were amazing, sausage and brisket were ok. We weren't a fan of the potato salad. It was a bit bland, next time we will try the beans or corn. The Birria taco was amazing with the consume! This was by far the best consume we have tried. So much flavor with added spice!!!! Wow!!!! The brisket tostada was really good as well! It was layered with refried beans. We also had a tres leche banana pudding. Very surprised it was not overly sweet. It was well balanced and the only thing I would recommend is that they needed to add more cookies to it. :-) Service was great! Made recommendations and answered all of our questions! They catered our son and fiancé's rehearsal dinner at Acre Distillery this past Friday night. They were on time and very courteous to all our guests. They cleaned up beautifully and packed up the leftovers for us and left plates and utensils incase there were some latecomers. The sliced brisket was so good and the ribs were amazing. That is how things started at Hurtado BBQ. Before we talk meats let me say that the green beans with chorizo and their street corn were stunning sides. The chorizo they use is actually small chunks of sausage not the ground meat insides which made for a nice texture and the flavor was outstanding. The chorizo was complementary not overpowering. The street corn had a nice balance of cilantro, red pepper and cotija cheese. Very tasty! The meats? We had a three meat platter with burnt ends, brisket and ribs. The burnt ends were fatty and well seasoned. The brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork, while the rub on the ribs was nicely carmelized. This was a platter of comfort food and a palate of BBQ three ways. Be advised they do not serve alcohol so you need to bring your own if that is important to you. I went with a chopped brisket sandwich and hatch mac & cheese in the side. The brisket was juicy and flavorful, although I wish the BBQ sauce on the table had been better (or at least more than one option). They have stool seating and a covered patio seating as well. They have various menu options from 1/2 pound+ of meat to entrees with sides. I got the Texas trifecta with macaroni. The brisket was delicious and had a nice flavor the sausage was the best thing on the plate and the spare ribs weren't bad with a little bbq sauce. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. I came in and I ordered the Texas Trinity, which came with the 1/3 pound of brisket, 1/3 pound of pork ribs, and a 1/3 pound of sausage. As well as side of your choice. I chose to get the bacon potato salad, which really wasn't good. I'm used to my potato salad having cubed potatoes but for some reason at this location, it was mashed and there's just something about cold mashed potato salad that is just offputting and it just was not seasoned appropriately either so that really was a bummer. Of the meats, my favorite was the pork ribs. Otherwise I really wasn't too impressed even my sweet tea just honestly wasn't even sweet. I visit this location a lot, probably twice a month. The food is always consistently good. This location serves breakfast everyday until 11am. The breakfast is fantastic with large portions. Staff is really friendly. It's a small building that doesn't offer a lot of seating inside, but they also have a nice covered patio. I highly recommend for breakfast or any other meal time. It does tend to get busy around noon and some items sell out on the weekends. read more
