This was my 3rd visit to Hurtado. Last year I went for my birthday and the staff was so kind. Then my husband and I came for date night a month later. Today it was my choice for Mother's Day. We were greeted right away and before I even started the order, they gave me some flowers. That was a really nice touch of service. We got the brisket and pork belly burnt ends because we had loved them before. Today we also tried the garlic black pepper sausage and I got a birria taco. Wow. Talk about amazing customer service. Demi greeted us right as we walked through the door. She was a welcomed experience. Fun with an amazing personality. She turned a bad day into a great one in just a matter of seconds. Thanks Demi. The first thing I noticed is they have new menus. Detailed and easy to read. We opted to try "the Jefe". It's a combination of ribs, pulled pork, burnt ends, brisket, turkey and sausage. Our sides consisted of Green beans, potato salad, tater tot casserole, cabbage and Hatch green chili Mac n cheese. Also ordered a Texas Twinkie! Hurtados knows BBQ. Ribs are tender and tasty and MOIST! The perfect combination. Their burnt ends are other worldly. My absolute favorite. A slight sweet but tangy outer layer that makes your eyes roll back in your head. The Pulled pork equally as good. The turkey...drum roll is the best in Fort Worth. The brisket has the perfect outer crust while maintaining a moistness. Finally the Texas Twinkie....a stuffed jalapenos with pimento cheese and wrapped in bacon cooked in a BBQ sauce outer coating. Scrumptious! Damn, it's sooooo good. Here's where Hurtado rises above other BBQ's restaurants...(besides having great customer service) is their sides. The potato salad is Devine. Deliciously Devine. It has a little kick and is a mashed potato salad that is soooo dang flavorful. We literally almost fell out of our chairs when we tried the tater tot casserole. Unique in all the right ways. A MUST TRY! Green beans, cabbage, beans all BBQ staples and delicious in their own right. Their BBQ sauces, peach habanero, sweet n spicy and Aztec gold compliments the meats perfectly. This wonderful spot is a fusion between Mexican food and barbecue. Each of the barbecue selections were incredible! Ditto with the Mexican food. Don't let the size of the place for you, they are quick and efficient and the food is fresh and ready to go! The staff is friendly and helpful. You order just inside the front door, where you're given a plastic number to set on your table for service. This place was busy...like, really busy. I was told it'd be a 15 minute wait. But 15 minutes turned into 30, and then 45. I was a little annoyed because nobody checked on us during this wait. Nobody. When the food arrived, the brisket was extremely fatty. If I had to estimate. I'd say it was a good 35% fat. The food was actually delicious, which is why this rating is getting a high mark. The potatoes salad is amazing. For real. A few things that we ordered. The trinity with ribs, brisket, sausage and a side of potato salad. Ribs were amazing, sausage and brisket were ok. We weren't a fan of the potato salad. It was a bit bland, next time we will try the beans or corn. The Birria taco was amazing with the consume! This was by far the best consume we have tried. So much flavor with added spice!!!! Wow!!!! The brisket tostada was really good as well! It was layered with refried beans. We also had a tres leche banana pudding. Very surprised it was not overly sweet. It was well balanced and the only thing I would recommend is that they needed to add more cookies to it. :-) Service was great! Made recommendations and answered all of our questions! Everything was great! I had been wanting to come try their Texas Twinkie and it did not disappoint. Perfectly crispy bacon wrapped with a good balance of cream cheese to meat inside. My friend said their birria tacos were pretty good too and no complaints about the bbq. This might sound like a backhanded compliment; however, when you go to a restaurant and the sides are stellar that generally means your meal is going to be good. That is how things started at Hurtado BBQ. Before we talk meats let me say that the green beans with chorizo and their street corn were stunning sides. The chorizo they use is actually small chunks of sausage not the ground meat insides which made for a nice texture and the flavor was outstanding. The chorizo was complementary not overpowering. The street corn had a nice balance of cilantro, red pepper and cotija cheese. Very tasty! The meats? We had a three meat platter with burnt ends, brisket and ribs. The burnt ends were fatty and well seasoned. The brisket was tender enough to cut with a fork, while the rub on the ribs was nicely carmelized. This was a platter of comfort food and a palate of BBQ three ways. Be advised they do not serve alcohol so you need to bring your own if that is important to you. Hurtado is a no frills, rustic eatery so come as you are. We will be back! read more

Hurtado BBQ has some pretty good BBQ. There's so much good BBQ in the DFW area that it's hard to breakout, but this place is one of the better ones. I went with a chopped brisket sandwich and hatch mac & cheese in the side. The brisket was juicy and flavorful, although I wish the BBQ sauce on the table had been better (or at least more than one option). Finally tried hurtado bbq after having it on my list for months. Very simple establishment with parking in the front and back of the restaurant. They have stool seating and a covered patio seating as well. They have various menu options from 1/2 pound+ of meat to entrees with sides. I got the Texas trifecta with macaroni. The brisket was delicious and had a nice flavor the sausage was the best thing on the plate and the spare ribs weren't bad with a little bbq sauce. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. I came in and I ordered the Texas Trinity, which came with the 1/3 pound of brisket, 1/3 pound of pork ribs, and a 1/3 pound of sausage. As well as side of your choice. I chose to get the bacon potato salad, which really wasn't good. I'm used to my potato salad having cubed potatoes but for some reason at this location, it was mashed and there's just something about cold mashed potato salad that is just offputting and it just was not seasoned appropriately either so that really was a bummer. Of the meats, my favorite was the pork ribs. Otherwise I really wasn't too impressed even my sweet tea just honestly wasn't even sweet. I visit this location a lot, probably twice a month. The food is always consistently good. This location serves breakfast everyday until 11am. The breakfast is fantastic with large portions. Staff is really friendly. It's a small building that doesn't offer a lot of seating inside, but they also have a nice covered patio. I highly recommend for breakfast or any other meal time. Craving some barbecue I decided to go to this location near my home. I've been to the location in Dallas by the farmers market, which is their newest location and that restaurant was lovely. This one in Fort Worth is much older, but their customer service was great. I would say, though I did not love their mac & cheese, it was a bit watery. Their potato salad was very tasty the texture was different though. The meats were exceptional especially the jalapeño cheese sausage and brisket. The interior was basic and set up efficiently. The service wasn't anything special but that doesn't matter. You don't get bbq even slightly considering all that. You're there for the slow cooked brisket, ribs and more. It's not the best in the state but yeen know that it's consistent and scratches the itch of TX bbq. I got the Trinity, brisket rib and sausage. It was all good and came with a side of their Mexican street corn. I had it to go cause I am an idiot who got food and drove home 40 mins in traffic to share it. Still good even Luke warm. Only 27ish dollars to feed two people bbq which is less than my gym membership and the reason you can tell I eat bbq often. They have different locations but I've only ever tried this one. My dad wanted to eat here so I was able to sample some food. I was totally out of it. I was feeling a little loopy because, because my general anesthesia was barely wearing off. However I do remember a few things. The parking lot is small, Hurtado Barbecue is visible from the streets, it's in the Medical district of Fort Worth, they are fairly busy, with prompt service and are accurate with orders, the prices are steep for a small serving. They have a few side items to choose from for $4.oo My dad said the Brisket was tender and thick but they only gave you like four slices. The Pototato Salad was good but not great. The Beans were different, they were very salty with a dash of Cilantro. To summarize things, it's easy to get to the food was okay for the price that you pay, but maybe you will like it ? This time I decided to pickup a to go order during the middle of the week at lunch time. The parking lot is tiny but I got lucky and found a spot. Parking is an issue here. As soon as you walk in the aromas are soul soothing. The inside is small but has a few tables. I dropped a star because they don't offer fried okra. That's a staple to any good BBQ place. I noticed no fries either. So assuming they don't have a fryer. It's a little expensive but most BBQ is nowadays. So we ordered a lunch combo plate that came with two meats and two sides.
