This is the exact type of barbecue restaurant that I was expecting to find in the stockyards. The old school country, decor and red and white picnic table were spot on. The brisket was so tender it was falling off my fork- no knife required, not even a butter knife !The baked beans and green beans were phenomenal. The sweet tea perfection. And as a final mention, the fried pickles were off the charts! I need to give a special shout out to the server Casey, who brought out a tangy barbecue sauce for us as an alternative to the restaurant's more sweet flavored barbecue sauce, which is not really my flavor. My family came to Stockyards for a couple of days and visited Riskys. Although the the service was quick and food was good for the most part I feel like we were intentionally ripped off by overcharging us. We ordered half a chicken which the menu said $16.99, my son ordered the which was $20. I ordered the shrimp appetizer $11.99 and a side of potato salad $3.99. Dessert was $10.99. We all asked for water so no drinks. My total was $74. The waitress showed me quickly my check and noticed my order said Entree instead of appetizer. I was confused but trusted and still give her a $15 tip. I went back to Our Airbnb and started doing numbers . She totally overcharged me and she knew 100% what She was doing. I ordered an appetizer, got an appetizer and she charged for a full entree. Also, the menu we were given said $16.99 for the half chicken . Online says $20. Waitress charged us $20. I got the "all you can eat beef ribs"... and it was very disappointing. The ribs were dry, and adding the sauce on top did not help. The sauces they had, there wasn't one I really liked. They picked a fitting name because it is pretty risky to eat here. The service was quick and friendly but that was about the only good thing about this place. These were the worst bbq ribs I have ever had in the entire country. The meat was so dry it was like eating jerky - in a bad way. The fish was also really dry and flavorless. All the sides tasted like they came out of an old can or jar that had been forgotten in a bomb shelter. One taste of the meat put me off, so luckily I didn't each much. This place is located in Stockyard, a very cool western area. 10/10 for location and atmosphere. The inside is western themed and very cozy. I ordered a Patron Margarita, corn nugget appetizer and a brisket sandwich. My partner got a grilled cheese. The patron marg was very large and good! The brisket was fantastic!!! Let's talk BBQ barbecue sauce. At the recommendation of our server, I tried the sweet sauce and felt it was better than their original. Both are very thin and watery. We were in the Stockyards and decided to go to a staple- Riscky's BBQ. We went after the cattle drive for lunch. There were a bunch of people going in at the same time but we were able to get a table right away. We started with the fried pickles which were incredible. Then we split a 3 meat smoker combo. With the combo we got brisket, pulled pork and jalapeño sausage. I loved the brisket and sausage, the pulled pork was missing some flavor. The red beans and potato salad on the side were both delicious, the coleslaw was just okay. We also got a flat iron steak, which was my favorite part, it was delicious. Tried Riscky's Barbeque and it definitely did not disappoint. It was my friend's first time trying brisket, so we had to do it right and this was the perfect introduction. We ordered a little bit of everything: pulled pork, pork ribs, and brisket, with sides of green beans, a baked potato, and mac and cheese. Let me just say the pork ribs were first bite certified. Tender, flavorful, and easily the standout of the meal. The portions were generous, the food was well-seasoned, and everything came out hot and fresh. The drinks are no joke either I had a spiked Arnold Palmer that was strong so definitely come prepared. On top of that, the service was great and the atmosphere. This is not only in a tourist trap area but they do have surprisingly good eats. My wife had a friend in from Pennsylvania and she wanted to see the Longhorns cattle drive that morning, the outside seating here runs right at the head end of the cattle drive in the mornings, it's a great place to sit and watch and have some lunch. My wife had one of the salads, it's a good, for lettuce and dressing. Her friend got the brisket sandwich, the brisket is good, well seasoned, it's a dry rub, add your own sauce to make it wet. I had my usual which had three different meats on it, can't recall the name, but it's good. I really like the fries, they taste good, crispy on exterior, tender inside. The ambience is that of an old saloon that's been in business for 100's of years, the collected dust on the various items along the ceiling and hung on the walls gives some credence to that. Bar area is small, serves beer and does have full bar drinks. This location also has the all you can eat ribs, which I have done before in my younger years. Riscky's location in the FW Stockyards should be a no-brainer as a good place to take out of town guests for a bit of Texas. Unfortunately, its location at a tourist attraction is about all this restaurant has going for it. We were there for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. With there being no wait, I expected service to be good. Unfortunately, that was not the case. One member of our party didn't get their food until everyone else had finished eating. Our waitress was nearby throughout but never would look our way, so it was up to us to flag her down to ask about the delay multiple times. She complained to us about the kitchen not bringing the food out (unprofessional). When I finally saw an interaction between her and the food runner, and it looked like there was some sort of feud going on between them (again, unprofessional). The manager did comp that dish, but I would have rather paid and not had the frustration of having to wait and chase waitstaff for help. As for the food, it was just OK. Portions were surprisingly small, and the all-you-can-eat ribs were average at best. In particular, the chopped beef sandwich was very small. We will continue bringing out of towners to the stockyards, but we will definitely find another place to eat next time. read more

All You Can Eat Beef Ribs plate was probably too good to be true at $20, but I had to try. Got four end-bones, and they were tasty, but, you know, they're the ends for a reason, more bone than BBQ, a little dry, crispy, and scrawny. It's all good, though, because all you can eat? Right? no. I stared at those clean bones while I finished my beer, everyone else finished their plate, washed up, and was ready to go. Servers went out of their way, the long way, to avoid our table the entire meal -- felt rude. I finally had to get up to flag one down, and they did bring another plate of ribs, but by then everyone wanted to leave. No to-go, of course. It ain't right. Reviews are all over the place and I get it. But my score reflects several things. This is a tourist heavy location that constantly gets groups of 20. I've been to the BBQ places near Austin that earned a Michelin star. And no this is not at that level. However, it's pretty darn good if you pick well. I'm going to start by talking about the smoke bologna and cheese appetizer. If you start there you're going to have a good experience. Delicious. All BBQ places need to have some stellar sides. The potato salad is among the best I've ever had. Side note about the straw onion rings. Those were a huge hit among my group. The meat. Well. I sampled the beef ribs and they were just ok. The sliced brisket was better and the shredded or chipped brisket was actually the best of the bunch. I'm not a fan of their BBQ sauce so I didn't put it on the sandwich, and it didn't need it anyway. The smoked turkey was underwhelming and should be avoided. The staff is friend and clearly busting butt. They cover for each other and frequently check on the guests. The beer is cheap and in good quantity. The prices are unexpectedly good, especially for a touristy area. Overall a satisfying experience for my group of mostly visitors. read more

The table we sat was outside where you could see the cattle walk happen at 11:30am and 4pm. Our server was very nice and patient with us, and was also very helpful with explaining to us the menu.
