After we were all seated, the sweetest server Olga quickly took our drink orders and returned for our food orders. It took a minute for everyone in our group to decide. This place was packed and booming. The majority of our group went with Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes, and numerous different sides. I had a side salad with ranch. It's was huge and I shared it with the GRANDdaughters. This place was serving both breakfast and lunch, and seems to have a great following with the locals. Been a long time since I've been here. I was shocked when I walked in and saw the renovation that was done inside. I had mixed feelings walking in. Was kind of sad to see that the original inside had been updated to today's current country style but the decor was done tastefully. There were a lot of pictures taken off all the walls and you could still see the screws were they had not put them back but there are still a lot of old photos. Now onto the food. To start I wanted to try the new sampler they had on the menu. For 12 dollars, I don't feel like I paid for the cost. It came with 2 mozzarella sticks, 2 tater keg bites, 4 small onion rings, and 2 mac and cheese balls. The mozzarella sticks were the best on the sampler. Wish I had just had an order of those honestly. For my entree, I got breakfest #3. That consisted of 3 eggs i got scrambled, 4 slices of bacon, and pancakes. Oh was I in the mood for some good pancakes and they were delicious. I also ordered a side of sourdough toast and biscuits with gravy. I was kind of disappointed with the biscuits and gravy. Was a tiny biscuit and thought it would have been home made but could totally tell it was a Pillsbury biscuit. Not sure if they ran out and had that as a back up but the biscuit was dry and thin. It was bought by a company after some struggles the previous owner had but they kept up the decor, which makes the place what it is. No lie, his place is like coming home. The memories here warms my heart. I think my favorite is the grilled pork chops or the liver and onions. Back when I could eat bread I'd get the club sandwich. The ranch is homemade. Stopped in here for breakfast today. This is the first time I've walked into a restaurant and said "This place has had a deep cleaning and you can tell." The food was fantastic! The place was really busy for 8am too. Had with a #1 and then smoked sausage, biscuit, 3 scrambled eggs and a pancake. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the biscuit was fantastic! This is a great place to eat have never had anything there that wasn't delicious. After a yummy lunch we ordered pie, aple crumb & coconut cream. Both were a little disappointing. While the apples were cooked perfectly it was missing apple pie spices and the coconut needed more sugar, a little salt & definitely some coconut flavor, it was bland. On entering the restaurant you are greeted with a wall of pictures honoring those who have served in the military. What a nice tribute. It appears the restaurant interior has recently gone through a remodel. The new look is modern and inviting. Everyone working was warm and friendly. I immediately liked the place. The food was excellent. My husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. Cooked perfectly. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast and asked if I could get the "Big Ol' Bowl of Pinto Beans" and cornbread. Definitely big and really delicious. Most lunch items are not available until 10:45, but if you ask, some items are available earlier. I also asked for a side of fruit. This is not on their menu as it is a new addition. Make sure if you are meeting someone there, they are on time because they won't seat you until your whole party is there. As we were shown to our table all the staff spoke and welcomed us and even some of the regular customers said hello. The syrup was watery to me, and the pancakes soaked them up, but once I added enough, I got some in every bite. I got the hashbrowns. They had lots of butter in them, probably why they tasted so good. It was Saturday morning and there were no cartoons to watch. Lol. My neighbor wanted a good breakfast from this place and I've have not been for breakfast so, I decided to go with him. I drove into the Parking lot and it was already packed. I walked in and there was already a crowd waiting for there table. Also, you cannot reserve a table if you party is unavailable. We were seated very quickly despite the crowd. We had a great waitress. She wore a Pink West Side Tshirt. She said, a girl that used to work there made them. The portions were nice, prices were reasonable, and the wait staff was attentive. We sat at the counter and were very impressed with how all staff interacted. They were polite, smiling, and helping one another- something that was so noticeable that I thought about it after we left. Came from Cali to visit my son and new Grandson. Found this place and thought I would give it a try. Was amazed on the amount of cars in the lot. It was Sun am so it was expected. As a party of three we didn't even have to wait 5 min. The menu has everything so choices were open. We ordered AND received our food extremely fast. I went with the country fried steak and eggs with biscuit and gravy. Next time I will go with the regular steak (med-rare) and eggs. Now for my only complaint. The gravy was ok but a little bland but maybe it was the batch? Will I go back oh heck yeah. You have to hand it to all the people working there. Been coming here for a long time. I really like everything about this place. The staff is friendly, the decor is homey, and the food is great. It also travels really well if you want to get a take-out order. I used to come here with my last girlfriend before we split up. We loved getting their breakfast foods for dinner. Now I tend to only come here for take-out because my mom likes their catfish and I really enjoy the chicken fried steak.
