The service here is 5 stars for sure. Very friendly workers all around. It was also packed! They had us seated fairly quickly though despite the volume of people. It was also very clean which is good for peak hours. The food was just super average. We got the scrambler and it comes without salt or pepper and eggs are hard to add seasoning after the fact. The sweet potato pie also came out fridge cold but someone else got offered a warmed pie so i'm not sure why we didn't. Overall mid but it was a cute place. I can't believe I've lived here 48 yrs & am just now discovering this place! Of course I've read numerous reviews from others on NextDoor & Yelp but was never inspired to go eat there. Following church services today I just felt like trying something new. When you can hardly find a parking place & the wait is 15 mins you KNOW that there must be something special. First of all, I was impressed with their system of welcoming & seating their customers. There was a steady stream of people coming in & going out & no one seemed hurried or flustered. When we were seated we were given an extensive menu to choose from. Being a Southern gal I drooled when I saw chicken & dumplings on the Sr lunch menu. My daughter ordered the French toast & requested warm maple syrup which were served promptly & did not disappoint. My husband ordered a roasted hamburger covered with a rich onion brown gravy with extra-crispy fries & green beans. Since he is very particular about his fries I was shocked to hear him proclaim them the best fries he's ever eaten. And I must say they were perfectly crispy & flavorful! We even took leftovers home. Our waitress, Jennifer, was obviously a very experienced server & extremely pleasant & prompt in her service. She came back frequently to check on us. Now back to my "small" bowl of chicken & dumplings--the serving was very large but I managed to eat every bite. Yum! So satisfying! As if that wasn't enough we ended up ordering banana pudding & warm Dutch apple pie. Both were delicious & we took half of the pie home to eat later at home à la mode. This is such a cute little spot!!! I am so happy I stopped in here on my way through Dallas. To start you walk in and are greeted by a very nice lady and older man. They immediately sat me and asked me what I wanted to drink. Then my very friendly waitress Luisa came and gave me the full run down on the menu. Bring your grandma and go have some home cooked food. Make sure you try this long time staple of the west side of Fort Worth. It was bought by a company after some struggles the previous owner had but they kept up the decor, which makes the place what it is. No lie, his place is like coming home. The memories here warms my heart. I think my favorite is the grilled pork chops or the liver and onions. Back when I could eat bread I'd get the club sandwich. The ranch is homemade. Been a long time since I've been here. I was shocked when I walked in and saw the renovation that was done inside. I had mixed feelings walking in. Was kind of sad to see that the original inside had been updated to today's current country style but the decor was done tastefully. To start I wanted to try the new sampler they had on the menu. For 12 dollars, I don't feel like I paid for the cost. It came with 2 mozzarella sticks, 2 tater keg bites, 4 small onion rings, and 2 mac and cheese balls. The mozzarella sticks were the best on the sampler. Wish I had just had an order of those honestly. For my entree, I got breakfest #3. That consisted of 3 eggs i got scrambled, 4 slices of bacon, and pancakes. Oh was I in the mood for some good pancakes and they were delicious. I also ordered a side of sourdough toast and biscuits with gravy. I was kind of disappointed with the biscuits and gravy. Was a tiny biscuit and thought it would have been home made but could totally tell it was a Pillsbury biscuit. Not sure if they ran out and had that as a back up but the biscuit was dry and thin. On entering the restaurant you are greeted with a wall of pictures honoring those who have served in the military. What a nice tribute. It appears the restaurant interior has recently gone through a remodel. The new look is modern and inviting. Everyone working was warm and friendly. I immediately liked the place. The food was excellent. My husband had the chicken fried steak and eggs breakfast. Cooked perfectly. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast and asked if I could get the "Big Ol' Bowl of Pinto Beans" and cornbread. Definitely big and really delicious. Most lunch items are not available until 10:45, but if you ask, some items are available earlier. I also asked for a side of fruit. This is not on their menu as it is a new addition. This is a great place to eat have never had anything there that wasn't delicious. After a yummy lunch we ordered pie, aple crumb & coconut cream. Both were a little disappointing. While the apples were cooked perfectly it was missing apple pie spices and the coconut needed more sugar, a little salt & definitely some coconut flavor, it was bland. This is a cute cafe on the west side of Fort Worth. The parking is decent since it is in a shopping center. This place looks like it was built back in the 70s, but it is very spacious. They serve brunch and lunch, and everything that we saw looked great, and everything we ate was delicious. When we walked in, we were greeted. Make sure if you are meeting someone there, they are on time because they won't seat you until your whole party is there. As we were shown to our table all the staff spoke and welcomed us and even some of the regular customers said hello. Our waitress came and got our drink orders and answered our questions about the menu. I got the pancakes, they are huge and tasty. The syrup was watery to me, and the pancakes soaked them up, but once I added enough, I got some in every bite. I got the hashbrowns. They had lots of butter in them, probably why they tasted so good. I also got a side of bacon, and you get 4 pieces, so you will be full when you leave, but you will have some money left in your pocket because the prices were very reasonable. It was Saturday morning and there were no cartoons to watch. Lol. My neighbor wanted a good breakfast from this place and I've have not been for breakfast so, I decided to go with him. I drove into the Parking lot and it was already packed. I walked in and there was already a crowd waiting for there table. Also, you cannot reserve a table if you party is unavailable. We were seated very quickly despite the crowd. We had a great waitress. She wore a Pink West Side Tshirt. She said, a girl that used to work there made them. She said, she loved it because, she didn't have to wear so much Black and White. She was so nice, after she delivered are food, she said, " Can I get y'all anything else?" in a cute Texas accent. She was on top of her game. She always came to our table to check on drinks. I ordered a Biscuit and gravy . I added a piece of Sausage. My biscuit was Fluffy, soft and fell apart quickly. Gravy was warm with lots of Black Pepper.The Sausage was piping hot and small. Overall, it was a humble breakfast. The sauce is an actual tomato and onion sauce that adds even more flavor. Don't be afraid of the onion. Not overpowering. The mashed potatoes are real potatoes like your mother made. I always ask for sauce on the potatoes. The greens are as good as my grandmother served. The cornbread may be better than any down south cornbread. You can't miss eating here. It don't wait too long. Came from Cali to visit my son and new Grandson. Found this place and thought I would give it a try. Was amazed on the amount of cars in the lot. It was Sun am so it was expected. As a party of three we didn't even have to wait 5 min. The menu has everything so choices were open. We ordered AND received our food extremely fast. I went with the country fried steak and eggs with biscuit and gravy. Next time I will go with the regular steak (med-rare) and eggs. Now for my only complaint. The gravy was ok but a little bland but maybe it was the batch? Will I go back oh heck yeah. You have to hand it to all the people working there. They were all moving with the speed of light and the nicest people. I wonder how their pancakes are? I dunno but will find out this week. To the owners.
