I ate lunch here with a friend. It's a very simple cafe, but the food is so fresh! It's tiny and very cute inside but also cute outside as well. It's kind of hard to find. You have to park and walk in the middle of the strip, you can't easily see it from the parking lot. The actual restaurant is very old timey. They have cute vintage lunch boxes set up on the walls. They even have an old menu from probably a long time ago. They do have a bunch of vegetarian options, especially sides. I got the veggie sandwich. It had cucumber, tomatoes, an avocado spread, and some sort of veggie cream cheese I got it on the grain bread. It was so good! The vegetables were super fresh. It was a really simple sandwich that tasted homemade. It's better than McAllister's deli or Panera bread because I feel like it's just more homemade. Also, the crowd is very eclectic. There's a bunch of old retired people, there are families, there are people coming in from work, and then there are random students. This place is clearly loved by the community and it also seems to be a family owned café and not some sort of chain which makes me feel better about supporting it. Always on point. Period. This is a hidden gem if there ever was one! Stuck away back in the 6333 shopping center behind Stanley Eisman shoes and the recently opened blue butterfly cafe. It's worth looking for. The food is always the freshest you'll get anywhere. The sweetest of fruit and the best chicken salad in town!! It does contain poppy seeds if you have an aversion to those. The pimento cheese is also excellent but a tad spicy. I love it but don't order if you don't care for spice. You have your choice of bread on all sandwiches from plain ole white to marble rye and even a croissant. The quiche is good too. I highly recommend giving their peach/Mango tea a go as it's my favorite. Restrooms are small but clean. There is always plenty of parking. Oh and they have brunch on Saturday. I've loved this place for years, so it's about time I said so. The food is outstanding across the board and the service is attentive and excellent. And it doesn't matter whether I'm dining in or getting something to go - it's always consistent and delicious. Due to Covid-19, the indoor dining area was closed; however, there were about a handful of tables available in the inner courtyard of the shopping complex. After finding a table that wasn't wobbly, we sat down. In no time at all, our lunches were delivered in wonderful cardboard lunch boxes. How neat! Went for a club sandwich today. Interesting color scheme inside. Not many choices on menu. Club sandwich not your traditional type. Just two slices of bread and ingredients in between kinda strange. The bread was very tough and crust so hard it was even too hard to cut The rest seemed a bit old and stale. Very disappointing. Meats and cheeses very good, bread very bad. I believe this place is known for offering large catering services for schools, etc - but if you're looking for a good start to your day, come check this place out. It was hard to choose which item to order (mainly because everything sounded appetizing) - I eventually settled on their croissant breakfast sandwich w/ potatoes on the side. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally made it in and wow, it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was delicious! I got the Turkey sandwich on sourdough with potato salad and a brownie, my husband got the club on sourdough with a side of chips, and my son got the pb&j with fruit. All three sandwiches and all the sides were wonderful. The pickles seem to be homemade. The brownie was amazing, as all Black Rooster Bakery treats are! This is more like a review for two locations, because I came here for brunch but the food that was served to me was from the Black rooster, the experience was great, the food and the restaurant. The two restaurants are located inside of the building, a little hard to find if you never been, just look for the colorful chairs. Once you get in, the atmosphere is very calm, trendy, stylish, very nice, although server took forever to great me, I was just standing there like "hey can you help me?" So be a little patient, maybe that was just my experience. Arriving to the table, they have two menus, the one for black rooster and bakery place, everything I had was from black rooster, and the service was great !! It feels so homey here at The Lunch Box. It's bright, cool, and cheery inside; painted with greens and yellows and staffed with smiling, friendly, non-hovering staff. Original Spanish tiles (still holding strong for over 40 years) cover the floors, complete with an adorable pair of puppy footprints in the back corner. I know it's a bit hard to find the entrance, but just follow the green and yellow signs! I had the honor of talking with the new owner, Imran, who told me a bit about The Lunch Box's history and future. He and his family haven't removed anything from this locally-loved restaurant's menu: they're still serving the classics; chicken, tuna, pimento, and egg salad, simple sandwiches, soups, fruit salad, and homemade ice-box pies. They've added just a few things, like vegetarian, gluten-free (GF bread), and dairy-free options! Plus, they're open 7 days a week now instead of 6. Try the stuffed avocado for $9.25! A scoop of your choice (tuna, chicken, pimento, and egg) on top of a whole avocado. I couldn't make a decision, so I had a tiny scoop of each salad. Now I know the chicken salad is famous around these parts, and it was dang good, but I loved the egg salad the most. It was just so simple, clean, and perfect. The pimento may take second place... I know it's a weird shade of orange, but this cheese is delicious! The tuna and chicken salad were equally grand; moist, seasoned beautifully, and dotted with the tiniest diced veggies. My avocado was fantastic and it sat on a bed of lettuce, decorated with baby carrots, olives, strawberries, and a pickle! I loved having a little bit of everything :) This isn't the cheapest menu around town, especially for soup and sandwiches, but you won't spend over $10-$12 (most sandwiches with chips and a pickle are $7.25). The soup of the day and quiche are constantly rotating, so check their website (which is so fantastically up-to-date)! The Lunch Box is definitely a Fort Worth destination cafe. People drive in from surrounding cities just to eat here! If you come in on the weekend, you'll probably see a fair mix of brand new patrons who live outside Fort Worth and local old-timers who have been dining here since the 70s. Delicious chicken salad sandwich! I got the chicken salad on a croissant and it was great. My only complaint is that I don't know how fresh the chicken was because it has a little bit of a tuna feel to it. That being said if you don't like tuna I would highly doubt that you'll like this chicken salad mix. I took it to go and my favorite part was the buttery flakey croissant. When approaching/entering I was skeptical, it was breakfast time~10am, only one person was in the restaurant. The host sat us and gave us a lunch menu. Wanted breakfast we considered leaving. We straighten that out and got b/f Menus (different than the ones on yelp) still skeptical but proceeded to order. Ordered b/f sandwiches with fried potatoes (that were not on the menu. Service: As someone that has waited tables for many 4- and 5-star restaurants, I know when I encounter a great server. My server Dalia was phenomenal. She was very friendly and was able to maintain an actual conversation with me while doing her closing responsibilities AND still upholding great customer service. I felt it was important to mention this because anyone could be a server, but not everyone is a great server. Ambiance: Simple - nothing extraordinary, nothing terrible. Definitely gave me the "we're a family-owned business" vibe, which I prefer. Food: I would like to start off saying that I typically stray away from certain foods due to textural preferences, however, my server managed to convince me to order a chicken salad sandwich - aka my worst enemy. To my surprise, I actually enjoyed it very much. The side of fruit was super fresh - never thought I'd enjoy a fruit cup so much, haha. Also, the portion was a good size. Overall: The food itself is fairly simple and straightforward - nothing out of this world, however, I definitely enjoyed it. My lunch was about $10 - pretty fair in my opinion. Came here with my husband when first watch had a bit of a wait. This place was quick to seat so we decided to give it a try. The ambience has some work to do, but clean enough. Service was slow and not great. We only saw our waitress a couple times, with seemingly large gaps of time in between. The waitress was not very informative and the menu wasn't very clear either. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich not knowing it would have fried egg, tomatoes, and spinach (3 things he doesn't like). He did his best to eat around it and isn't one to complain or send back his plate, but he definitely didn't enjoy his experience. The eggs bennedict I got was okay. It was definitely more runny than usual bennedict I get and seemed a little under cooked. The hollandaise was flavorful but very messy and runny as well as somewhat cold. We ordered chocolate chip pancakes as well. Those were pretty good, but again just okay. All of the food is a la carte so no sides. While prices seem cheap, it's really not because once you order what you need it starts to add up. The menu in Yelp is not aupdated for what they serve or prices. You would never know this place was here if you weren't looking for it. Such a shame as this quaint restaurant serves some serious sandwiches. And yes, true to its name they are only open during lunch. The Lunch Box is surrounded by other buildings as the property owners expanded this strip mall by building AROUND it. Yup. It's pretty much enclosed by all 4 sides. If it weren't for a large sign with an arrow I would have never known of its existence. I came here for a Yelp event and we were able to sample different types of sandwiches. We're talking a Reuben, Club, Pimiento Cheese, Ham and Avocado, Egg Salad, Chicken Salad and Tuna Salad served on your choice of white, rye and marble rye bread. They were all good, but the Reuben stood out as the best sandwich by far. We didn't get full orders, but I looked over at people that weren't part of the Yelp event and their sandwiches were so big. We're talking layers upon layers of ingredients. They definitely give you your money's worth. The staff was amazing and came by every table to talk to us about their history and items on their menu. Our bottomless mimosas were exactly that. We never saw the bottom of our cups and they seemed to know when you were half way done with your drink. How do they do that?? I've had their food once prior, when they catered the Four Day Weekend Elite event. I remembered that the pimento cheese sandwich and their pies were slamming! A couple of my friends wanted to meet up here on Sunday for lunch. I looked at their menu online and read up on Yelp! reviews to educate myself further. I know that everyone really digs their chicken salad. Thing is, I couldn't remember it at all from the event. Is it just not that memorable, or did I avoid it for the danger of harming my fetus (cooked meat left out, etc)? Just couldn't remember. Their loose leaf sandwiches are $7.25 individually but it's really not bad if you just get the Lunchbox, which is sandwich, choice of carb (chips, potato or pasta salad), fruit and a cookie for $8.95. Turns out you can get halfies, and get half one of the $7.25 sandwiches and another half of a different $7.25 sandwich. I went with half pimento and half chicken salad since its supposed to be their specialty. The hubz got a Reuben he adored. He got it with their chicken poblano chowder (Soup of the Day) and it came with a carb. Their potato salad is really good! The pimento sandwich is oh so good....and oh so rich. I had my husband take a bite and he remarked that's all the cheese he can take at once. I can take the sandwich half, but probably not the whole thing. The chicken salad sandwich half was just OK. Really. Maybe I did have some at the UYE and it was forgettable after all. Only after I ate it did I hear the very affable waitress tell another table to try the salad with the poppy seed dressing on it. OHHHH so that's what it's for! Dammit. I ended the meal with the chocolate pie; just as UH-mazing as I remembered. My friends brought their brand new son who needed to be changed. This place is circa retro era and they don't have a changing table in the bathroom. They did, however, let my friends take the baby to a room upstairs to change him. The only thing we had to wash all of this greatness down with was bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, screwdrivers, water, soda ,and tea. mmmm... mmm... ahhhh..... I enjoyed visiting with Ted and Denise, along with all of the other Yelpers that were there. As if this experience couldn't get any better, I won a bottle of Deep Eddies grapefruit vodka. My reason for only 2 stars is that we were disappointed by the customer service when we called to ask if the chicken salad uses eggs. My wife is 4 months pregnant.
