My boyfriend and I stopped by Moena Cafe for breakfast after our hike at Makapuʻu. It was pretty busy when we arrived, so we ended up waiting about 15-20 minutes to be seated. I ordered the banana chantily pancakes and opted for the two-pancake plate since it was only about a few more dollars than getting a single pancake. My boyfriend ordered the crab eggs Benedict, and I also got a side of pineapple sausage hash. I had originally wanted the corned beef hash, but they sold out and offered the pineapple sausage hash instead. The banana chantily pancakes were good, though I think the chantily sauce is really what makes the dish stand out. The pancakes themselves were fairly standard. I probably could've just ordered the single pancake because the portion was hug, I barely finished half of it! The pineapple sausage hash was a pleasant surprise. I already love pineapple sausage, so I enjoyed the sweet and savory flavors, and it was nice to try something a little different. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his crab eggs Benedict with the sweet, fresh flavor of the crab. Our server was friendly, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time despite how busy the restaurant was. Moena Cafe is definitely on the pricier side, but the food was tasty and it's worth checking out if you're in the area!
It was really great! I would suggest a reservation. The servers were very attentive and very kind. The portions are very large! Decent prices. We had 7 people with us. 4 adults and 3 kids. $157 with tip. Loved the affogato and the avocado toast. Like I said large portions. This place is so quaint and bright and airy. Cannot wait to go back.
Incredible loco moco! Every single layer was amazing. The fried rice was perfect, topped with seasoned beef, egg and sauce. Not too salty at all, but perfect seasoning of each layer. Loved it!
Really good comfort food. Just fyi..their pancakes are HUGE! We actually thought we hadn't been there when we picked it out this time but we were there 2 trips ago haha. Service is always top notch. So now we've been there twice and still the same...great food and great service... We had their banana Chantilly pancake, suuuuuuper delicious Their Kailua pig Benedict And their sausage hash. All very good.

The short rib loco moco was amazing and definitely my favorite. The sauce was great and it's a generous portion for one. The pancake, forgetting what the sauce was, was really satisfying too. The pineapple sausage was also quite nice. Overall the food was delicious. Maybe we were just especially hungry after doing the Koko Crater Railway hike, but I highly recommend this place anyways!
If you're looking for a great breakfast or brunch spot while you're in Honolulu, be sure to check out Moena Cafe at Koko Marina Center. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get, and the coffee is absolutely delicious. Definitely a must-try!

The short rib fried rice loco moco was a standout, featuring perfectly meaty and tender short ribs--a welcome change from the fatty or tough cuts you often find elsewhere. The veggie omelette was good, though it met expectations without any surprises. Pancakes were as wonderfully fluffy as remembered. While the cinnamon roll was overly sweet for my taste, the mochi lilikoi was delicious, particularly the yummy, sweet jam, even if the "mochi" aspect wasn't very prominent. I'd definitely order the lilikoi again, but skip the cinnamon roll. My matcha latte was too sweet, but the staff kindly allowed me to swap it for their strong coffee, which comes with a complimentary refill!

We ordered it with fried rice which was a tasty combination with the tender meat and gravy. The Avocado Toast and the Corned Beef Hash were both okay but there wasn't anything special that stood out. We visited on a Saturday around 1pm and luckily we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table! You do have to sign your name on the wait list when you get there. The restaurant was bright, service was friendly, and there's a good number of seating. It's located in the Koko Marina Shopping Center which shares a lot with other stores so there's always parking!
Second weekend in a row. Living for the pancake! Went on a Saturday around 1030. Not as busy as last Sunday when I went but totally worth the wait and the staff was nice and helpful.
Went to celebrate my birthday with 6 of my girlfriends and was disappointed that they keep increasing their service charge to 4% for their wait staff despite new rulings! P!us 20% gratuity was added! I didn't notice it on the menu plus they "nickel and dime" you for everything! $1.50 if you want more gravy! Don't offer if there is a charge! Service did not warrant 20% when she spilled water on my section of the table and said she would be back to wipe it up! Nada, never came back and the restaurant was not full! Used to come every 3rd Saturday when there was a plant exchange nearby....not anymore! My $14 crepe ended up $18.02! $4 more!
Came to Moenas on a Sunday morning for breakfast with a large group. We called an hour or so before to try to make reservations and luckily they were able to accommodate us. I wasn't super hungry, so I got a corn beef hash side. This could have been a full meal! It was a good balance of meat and potatoes, and everything was super flavorful. Service was fairly quick and friendly. Definitely a solid breakfast spot if you're in the area, and I want to come back to order their pancakes! There's plenty of parking in the lot. read more

I am not a breakfast person and Moena Cafe might have just converted me into one! After a sunrise hike nearby we were looking for a good spot where we could find something delicious for the whole family (including our picky eater). After doing some research on Yelp we decided to check out Moena Cafe. The restaurant is pretty small so I would recommend getting here early. We didn't have to wait for a table but probably 30min after we arrived they had a 40-minute wait (lucky, I know). I decided to go with the avocado toast and cold brew, and my husband had an order of pancakes with blueberries. First of all, the cold brew was probably the best cold brew I've ever had! I wouldn't say I am a coffee snob by any means, but I could definitely taste the difference in their coffee. The avocado toast was absolutely delicious and came in pretty huge portions! It was two pieces of toast with two eggs in a bed of arugula and a very generous amount of avocado. It was cooked to perfection and exactly what I needed after our hike. The pancakes are HUGE so I would recommend only ordering one. My husband was about to get two, but the waiter kindly suggested ordering only one, and she was right. Absolutely loved this place and can't wait to come back! read more

Cute cafe with absolutely delicious food! Yes, we did have to wait close to 30 minutes but the food and service made up for it. Everyone was lovely and the service was very quick. The pancakes were soft and perfectly sweet. The sausage hash was also delicious! read more
The omelette here was so unique I started trying this at home! Be sure to order the kalua pig which is shredded roasted pig inside of an omelette. Back home, I eat pernil all the time but never tried to put it inside of an omelette, game-changer! The omelette game with a piece of toast and a small slice of pineapple and strawberry. Paired it with a latte and a perfect breakfast. There are tons of juice, coffee, and matcha options as well (if you're cup of tea is matcha). Located inside of a strip mall (seeing a common theme here in Hawaii), there is ample parking if you have a rental car here. Servers and locals here are friendly which has been my experience traveling the entire island. read more

This has become my favorite Breakfast Spot!! The food is amazing (I plan yo experience Everything on their menu)!! The service is incredible! And it's has a very friendly and casual ambiance!! Today I had their Loco Moco w/ fried rice and 3 eggs with Cheese! Plus their Banana Chantilly Pancake! Now, because I always would get the Fruity French Toast I decided to do something different, so I ordered the Banana Chantilly Pancake and added a Bowl of Fruit!! Came here for brunch on a sunday and waited about 25 min to be seated. The food is soooo good! The banana chantilly pancake is unlike any other pancakes ive had and theres banana chunks inside. The portion is humongous the short stack was enough to share among us 3. Got a side of corn beef hash and it was super yummy I love the chunks of corn beef. Also got the short rib loco moco over fried rice and it was perfection. Can't wait to come again read more
Always get the banana chantilly pancake, it's their specialty! So yummy and fluffy. The pancakes are very big so you can take leftovers home. I always get the two stack for that reason. Service is attentive and friendly. This place is pretty busy since the tourists (and locals!) like to go here after hiking Koko Head. It is a smaller restaurant, but very lively. read more

Great service, server was attentive and came by to our table just the right amount of times. The food did not live up to the expectations. We tried the short rib loco moco, and the meat was rather dry and tough despite the gravy. The fried rice was decent and a tad salty. The eggs were good and runny as expected. Restaurant was popular so there was a bit of a wait for breakfast. read more
Moana Cafe where I go to treat myself after Koko Head hike. The pancakes are huge and the lattes hit the spot. Other than that, the food is average with nothing too special. I do wish they had better hot sauce options. The wait is usually long, especially if you have a large group so plan ahead. read more

On vacation and I told my husband I was craving for pancakes. He found this cute cafe east of Waikiki about 20 minute drive. We ordered Chantilly Banana w/toasted, coconut pancake, Short rib loco Moco and. Fresh Crab Benedict Food was amazingly delicious and service was impeccable. read more
This place was off the charts amazing!! We had a large party of mixed ages, and we were so hungry after our hike. They had us sat in about 20 minutes. We came put our names on the list outside the door, and waited with such anticipation. This place is worth the wait!! Everyone in our party loved their food! My crepe was amazing, I shared some of mine with a friend's daughter that has never had one and she feel in love. 10/10! We ended up all trying the cinnamon roll pancakes and they are amazing 10/10! I got report that the short rib Moco loco was also a 10/10 from a friend that gets Moco loco everywhere he goes. He said this is now on the top of his list!! 1,000/10!!!! If you're looking for a breakfast spot, Moena's Café needs to be on your list asap! A smaller cafe, but the wait is worth it. We arrive with a party of 9 and waited 15-20 minutes and they were able to push tables together. With so much to choose from, it was hard to make a decision because we wanted everything. The waitress was so kind and didn't rush us. I couldn't thank her enough! I couldn't decide on which pancakes to get and she suggested the cinnamon roll and the banana Chantilly. We went with the cinnamon roll pancakes and they were delicious! Everyone was able to try them because they're giant. Lol. The short rib loco moco was AMAZING!!!! Oh my gosh! I'd eat this everyday if I could. Order this and you will not be disappointed. It is flavored to perfection. The shredded rib meat made this dish! Don't forget to order the matcha affogato! 10/10! Ice cream with breakfast is a great way to start your day! read more
We went on a Wednesday morning and were seated right away. There were plenty of tables and a cute bar for singles as well. Service was quick and efficient. Menu had plenty to choose from. Opting for the fried rice on any dish it's offered is recommended - so fluffy and light. Food came out hot and portions were great. We left satisfied and full. Mahalo! read more

Walked around the plaza after the gym and decided to grab some lunch. Been a while since we were last here. We placed our name on the waitlist with 2 parties ahead of us, but we were seated pretty quickly. They had a couple of mochi pancake specials. Asked for recommendations as I couldn't decide on a couple of pancakes. The Banana Chantilly was recommended, so I ordered a short stack. Didn't realize it would be so big - took up the entire plate. So yum! Hot when it arrived and sweet enough - didn't need to use the syrup. Plenty to share. Because I wanted a pancake, thought I'd be good by having a salad to go with it - Kale Caesar and added the fish of the day (swordfish). It was a big bowl of greens with 2 meaty fish filets. Didn't have much flavor, however. Kiddo ordered a Caprese panini. She said it was good but she thought the panini was a bit on the small side. Hubs ordered the smoked salmon benedict with fried rice. The short rib sandwich (tender short ribs, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, garlic aioli) was super delicious! The other food we ordered, not so much. FYI, per their menu as of March 2025, "Moena Cafe has implemented a 4% service charge that will be shared with our Kitchen Staff. Please consider this when tipping your Server." read more
This was one of my absolute favorite meals while in the Honolulu area. You must get the Short Rib Loco Moco, and get it with the fried rice. Trust me. Traditionally Loco Moco is served with hamburger patties, but this place ups the ante by serving it with a braised short rib. While we were there, they had a seasonal pancake, which was the Lilikoi, which is a type of passionfruit, definitely worth it. Wash it all down with some hot coffee or a cold brew. Just fantastic and overall perfection. Can't wait to come back. read more

Super tired and hungry from our Makapu'u Lighthouse hike. Moena Cafe is the closest breakfast spot we haven't tried. It's a small, cute breakfast restaurant in Koko Marina. It was about 945ish on a Friday, and it wasn't busy. We signed in and waited about a good 8 minutes. I didn't get her name and she didn't introduce herself either but our server was nice and quick. My choice: MC Breakfast with crispy bacon, over easy eggs, country potatoes and pineapple + strawberry. I love the potatoes. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The bacon is really crispy. His choice: MC Breakfast with Portuguese sausage, over easy eggs, fried rice with pineapple + strawberry. He enjoyed his choice. He also loved the pineapple treat on the side. He even ate mine ;) He also wanted to try the cinnamon roll pancakes. I tried it. It didn't taste cinnamon. I looked at the bottom of the pancake and cut around where the cinnamon was. Now it's cinnamon roll pancakes ;) He liked it. It was just ok for me. I got their caramel macchiato. They should taste it and reconsider changing proportions. I didn't taste the coffee and caramel.
