Paired it with a latte and a perfect breakfast. There are tons of juice, coffee, and matcha options as well (if you're cup of tea is matcha). Located inside of a strip mall (seeing a common theme here in Hawaii), there is ample parking if you have a rental car here. We placed our name on the waitlist with 2 parties ahead of us, but we were seated pretty quickly. They had a couple of mochi pancake specials. Because I wanted a pancake, thought I'd be good by having a salad to go with it - Kale Caesar and added the fish of the day (swordfish). It was a big bowl of greens with 2 meaty fish filets. This was one of my absolute favorite meals while in the Honolulu area. You must get the Short Rib Loco Moco, and get it with the fried rice. Trust me. Traditionally Loco Moco is served with hamburger patties, but this place ups the ante by serving it with a braised short rib. While we were there, they had a seasonal pancake, which was the Lilikoi, which is a type of passionfruit, definitely worth it. Wash it all down with some hot coffee or a cold brew. Updating my review from 2014 to 2026 and 12 years. Moena is still around serving pretty much the same menu they did back then and its still good. They are not as busy as in past years with other nearby eateries opening up but is a good thing for us as it is easier to get a table now. There used to be a dining room nazi where he would direct you sternly where to sit and be the only person taking orders. Notice he is no longer there and they have cordial friendly servers. I've found my new favorite at Moena. They make the best pancakes anywhere and dont let the name "short stack" fool you. It is actually one huge round pancake that fills the entire plate and larger than my face which is big! This pancake comes with your choice of breakfast meats and definitely pick the coconut syrup which just totally kicks it up. The texture an fluffiness of the pancake just oohhh.... Super tired and hungry from our Makapu'u Lighthouse hike. Moena Cafe is the closest breakfast spot we haven't tried. It's a small, cute breakfast restaurant in Koko Marina. It was about 945ish on a Friday, and it wasn't busy. We signed in and waited about a good 8 minutes. I didn't get her name and she didn't introduce herself either but our server was nice and quick. My choice: MC Breakfast with crispy bacon, over easy eggs, country potatoes and pineapple + strawberry. I love the potatoes. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The bacon is really crispy. His choice: MC Breakfast with Portuguese sausage, over easy eggs, fried rice with pineapple + strawberry. He enjoyed his choice. He also loved the pineapple treat on the side. He even ate mine ;) He also wanted to try the cinnamon roll pancakes. I tried it. It didn't taste cinnamon. I looked at the bottom of the pancake and cut around where the cinnamon was. Now it's cinnamon roll pancakes ;) He liked it. It was just ok for me. I got their caramel macchiato. They should taste it and reconsider changing proportions. I didn't taste the coffee and caramel. My husband and I have been to Moena Cafe several times and have never been disappointed until today. I ordered the veggie crepe and it came out on a dirty plate. It was obvious the dish went through the dishwasher and leftover food had hardened onto the plate. I thought I'd move the crepe over to a smaller dish the server presented to me but it was full of grease. I got the servers attention. She said the hardened food on the plate was from the crepe I ordered. I told her no , the crepe wouldn't have hardened that quickly, then I showed her the greasy plate.
