A friendly greeting and a small wait time before securing seats at the bar counter. Yes, it was busy. I liked that the bar area had a bag hook to place our bags off the floor. Nice touch. There was a lot of noise as we were sitting at the bar area and near the kitchen. Service was attentive and friendly. Ezekiel (sp?) was our friendly server. Thanks for your great service! I ordered the Westman Brekkie with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was the best scrambled eggs I have had in a while! So fluffy and perfectly cooked. The bacon was not crispy, but lean. Great satisfying meal with one exception, it comes with a slice of sourdough bread. It was a bit tough, cold, and served without butter or jelly. It just didn't belong with this dish. I tried a bite, but I left the rest of it. I also tasted a bite of the soufflé pancake, mixed berry. I found the pancake had a strong egg taste. It was interesting texture for my palate. But this is a fan favorite at Westman Cafe (see Yelp Elite Hiromi M. , recent review). Bathrooms are available inside the restaurant. Open table reservations are available. The vibe here is really nice, pretty and cozy. Our server Vanessa was friendly and welcoming too. Unfortunately, the food didn't hold up. I ordered the Washugyu loco moco, and the patty tasted sour. The rice was also cooked poorly, which was sticky and wet. (If the owner is Japanese, I don't think the rice meets Japanese standard.) The brussels sprouts were the best part of the meal, honestly. The soufflé didn't taste like a soufflé at all, the inside had a texture closer to mochi, but dense rather than soft and airy. My husband had " French toasts with egg and bacon". Souffle pancakes were so fluffy and melting. Serving with maple syrup, berries jam and sour cream. We have been eyeing this location ever since they moved into the new Ko'ula building in Ward Village and finally got a chance to try it. The venue is a nicely laid out space on the first floor of the Ko'ula building. There is free parking in the Ward Consolidated Theatres parking lot across the street, and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the Victoria Ward Park. Since we arrived when they were at capacity, we were put on a waitlist. and used the texting service when the table was available. For this day, we chose to sit inside, as there is/was a fly issue at the Victoria Ward Park which necessitates the use of spinning fly deterrents to prevent them from landing on your food. Obviously not a problem with the restaurant, but something to note as it can get irritating at times. We had their "Famous" Souffle Pancake ($23) and the Mahi Mahi Loco Moco ($25). Be forewarned that the souffle pancakes take about 20-25 min to make. We were excited to try their pancakes ans this was their flagship item on the menu. flavor was good, but were were disappointed with two factors. The pancakes were slightly undercooked, and the portion size was so small. We didn't send it back as the time factor would have been too long, but were disappointed at the portion size. Flavor was good however. The Mahi Mahi Loco Moco was great, nice flavors and accompanied with white rice, edamame, radish, carrot marinade, red cabbage slaw, egg (cooked to order) and garlic cream sauce. We had a morning appointment with our estate planner to update a portion of our plan and took the opportunity to have breakfast at the newly opened Westman Cafe in Ward Village's Kō'ula Shops. The Westman Cafe was formerly located in Waikīkī several years ago and reopened in Kaka'ako earlier this year, in March 2026, but because we weren't going out to eat during my recovery from my total knee replacement, we waited. We anxiously looked forward to eating their Signature soufflé pancakes, Wagyu oxtail soup, and other new menu items. On the morning we went in for breakfast, an amicable hostess greeted us and escorted us into the cool, cozy, eye-appealing new dining room. The hostess offered us outdoor patio seating, but we preferred to stay in the comfortable interior. Soon after, we met our lovely, attentive, and friendly server, Ashly. She guided us through the breakfast menu as we both settled on our caffeine fix with huge, refillable mugs of delicious hot coffee. FOOD: -French Toast with Salmon Gravlax and Avocado: Japanese toast, salmon gravlax, avocado, labneh, herb oil, and microgreens. I was drawn to this breakfast dish because I'm a fan of Nordic salmon gravlax, which differs from lox or smoked salmon, and labneh, a strained yogurt with a similar texture to creamed cheese but slightly more tart. The salmon gravlax paired with the thick-cut Japanese French Toast could compare to a deconstructed bagel with lox and cream cheese, but lighter and not as gut-bombing. The microgreens were lightly dressed with an herb oil, which made this breakfast refreshing and satisfying. $22 -French Toast with Bacon and Eggs: Japanese toast, bacon, eggs, cheese sauce, and arugula. My husband chose this "traditional American breakfast" since he enjoys fried eggs and crisp-fried bacon or breakfast meats. The two sunny-side-up eggs were fried perfectly and seasoned well. Also, since my husband asked for crisp-fried bacon, the kitchen indulged his whim by ensuring the bacon strips were crackling crisp while still staying juicy and meaty. He used the tender, slightly custardy French toast to mop up the broken egg yolks from his plate. $22 The food flavors and presentation were great, and Ashly's efficient, attentive service enhanced our dining experience in this aesthetically pleasing ambiance. This review was a long time coming. My family and I dined here on April 30th, 2026. We decided to try their new location to celebrate my daughter's preschool May Day performance. Though the restaurant itself has a modern feel and trendy decorations - sadly this is all I can praise the restaurant for. If you enjoy dining it a hot environment with no AC, with flies swarming at your food even with the fly fans they put on your table... maybe this is the place for you. After we left, we later realized the hostess stand was initially moved outside near the entrance doors. We didn't think much of this at first. But when we left the restaurant after we finished eating, we noticed the hostess stand was moved back inside and we saw a YELLOW placard on their wall. Restaurants need a green placard to show their place of business has passed health inspections. So I found it quite unappealing, that it appeared like they were trying to cover their yellow placard inspection with the hostess stand. This place is known for their souffle pancakes and loco moco. We ordered both. The soufflé pancake was good, but nothing special. The mahi mahj loco moco was small and tasted okay. Personally, I prefer Koa Pancakes House loco moco more. Had brunch with a friend and decided to check out Westman's newest location since moving out of Waikiki. Pretty sure the menu's changed a bit but I believe they still have their soufflé pancakes! Got their bacon and mushroom omelette which was ok, but I think I'd go back for their Japanese breakfast set--my friend got it and she absolutely enjoyed it. I came here for a quick matcha pick me up while visiting Ward Victoria Park with my daughter. I asked if they take to go orders and the very nice girl told me they did. She showed me a menu, I really wanted a smoothie but they were out so I ordered an iced matcha with sweet cream code foam. I went to use the restroom and when I got back my drink was hand delivered to me. It was a small drink for the price but it tasted good and the matcha had a very nice flavor. I came back with a friend for brunch because we both LOVE spicy food, and I was excited to try their shakshuka, which is only available during brunch. Unfortunately, they don't serve them during dinner service, but I still got to try other delicious items. Walk ins are welcome for take out and it only took about 15 minutes. The husband got the Washu Gyu Loco Moco and I had the Grilled Mahi Mahi Loco Moco. The garlic cream sauce for the Mahi was fantastic and married well with the fish and sautéed vegetables. I would order it again just for the sauce! The Washu Gyu's house gravy had a beautiful richness and the husband would order it again. Note that the restaurant is closed on weekends. I've tried the Japanese breakfast, pastas and appetizers for dinner. Kauai shrimp pasta and Eggplant and Buratta Arabbiatta. Both very flavorful and a descent size service. I recently visited Westin's new location in Ward. The menu is a little more limited compared to the original Waikiki location, and I noticed the oxtail soup is no longer available. On the positive side, the new location is easier to access and there is plenty of free parking nearby. During my visit, I ordered the Westman Brekkie with sausage, eggs, mixed greens, roast beef, roasted zucchini, breakfast, potato, and sourdough toast. The meal was good overall, but nothing that really stood out as must try. I also tried their soufflé pancakes, which were light and fluffy. The outdoor seating area is a nice feature and provides more space for guest. The seating is covered, which helps when there's light rain, while still giving the restaurant and open airfield. They also have fly spinners set up, although they weren't needed during my visit. Overall, the food was decent, the location is convenient, and the atmosphere is comfortable. A new addition to the area since we last visited in February this year. Made a few attempts to try this new cafe and finally did today with no reservation at around 11 am. Needed to try the soufflé pancakes as it was a signature item. TBH, it was a bit giggly when it arrived. A bit too mushy for me. The side of cream cheese whipped spread really enhanced the flavors. The tropical spread didn't really do much to the overall taste. 3.5/5 I really wanted to try the French toast but they just ran out. Bummer! I ended up getting the Omelet. Note: Not your typical omelette presentation. This one was baked in a cast iron dish. Texture of egg was like crème brulee. It was topped with Gruyère, spinach and mushrooms. This dish I will crave. 5/5 My vanilla latte hot was lacking in flavor. I subbed with oat milk as I don't like diary milks and they didn't have coconut or couldn't do a breve. 3.5/5. Perhaps I should have just stuck to coffee Hubs washu---(forgot how to spell it) loco moco was tasty. The fried brussel sprouts and huge slices of mushrooms dressed with gravy was a hit for me. The downside was the the dish was not hot. Barely warm. 3.5/5 DD had her heart set on mahi mahi loco moco. The "cream of mushroom" sauce was absolutely delicious. Fish was a tab bit overcooked for me. But the sides of edamame and other veggies were so flavorful. Some of you die hard brunch fans may remember when Westman Cafe was open in Waikiki in the former Bills Sydney location. I remember enjoying their souffle pancakes so I was excited to have them again at their new location in Kōʻula in Ward Village. The cafe is bright and modern and also offers patio seating. On the menu for breakfast and brunch are signature toasts, souffle pancakes, a variety of french toasts as well as island plate options of omelet, shakshuka, loco moco, and more. I ordered the avocado toast for myself and the souffle pancake for the table which usually has a cook time of 20-25 minutes. We were all surprised when the star of brunch showed up first. The server explained that sometimes there will be an extra order of souffle pancakes being made and we were the lucky table. They were airy and delicious. I really could have eaten them by myself. We had a lovely experience and the service was also very good. Only issue was shooing away flies when eating outside. Parking can also be a hassle as it gets crowded on the weekends. We met some friends for brunch and the Westman was perfectly located. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were greeted right away and our table was ready. We sat outside on the patio and had a nice view of the park. Our server came over straight away and was very attentive. We got started with some drinks and once we received those we placed our order. All of our food came out in a timely manner and everything was cooked fairly well with the exception of the Souffled pancakes, while the presentation was great the were either undercooked or deflated due to the wet and gooey texture. My friend and I went for brunch on Tuesday and was surprised at how packed it was. Also being right next to a playground is not ideal as it's loud. Service was ok. We got water, but our food came out before our drinks. I got the omelette which was tasty, but the salad was just not great. When working with arugula which is so bitter, the dressing has to help balance it out and it just didn't. It made it more bitter. We also shared the soufflé pancakes which were tasty and very jiggly, so they did a good job with those. They were creamy and kind of melted in your mouth. Getting the drinks after our food wasn't ideal, but my friend got an iced coffee and when she asked for creamer, the waitress said they didn't have any and brought regular milk. Decent alternative except they charged an extra $2 for the milk. I don't know who you don't offer cream for coffee and then charge for the only alternative available. Westman Cafe was the perfect place to refuel after a contrast session at W Sauna. It's just a short walk away, and the food was really good and very reasonably priced for the location and quality. I ordered the Washugyu Loco Moco, and while it wasn't a "classic" loco moco, it was one of the best I've had. The beef was flavorful, the hayashi gravy was just right, and surprisingly, the vegetables might have been the best part. They were seasoned and cooked perfectly and really pulled the whole dish together. It's not a massive portion like many typical loco mocos, but it was still plenty filling for me. My friend had the Braised Oxtail Ragu, which was also delicious. We tried the Shakshuka with Toast too. It was decent. I might give it another shot with the added chorizo next time. We ended with a scoop of the honey yogurt gelato. It was really well made and tasted great on its own, although I kept thinking it would be perfect with some granola or something. The easiest parking would be at Whole Foods, but she doesn't like the narrowness of that parking structure. She parked at Ward Village Entertainment Complex and walked across the street. Westman Cafe is located on the ground level of the Kō'ula Building, across from Dean & Deluca. It's an open-air styled café with some annoying flies. Eventually, a server brought a spinning device for our table to assist with the problem, but the flies were still hanging around. Our server, Chris, was excellent! He was attentive and friendly! My friend had some questions, like: what's the most popular flavor for souffle pancakes... and she got the mixed berry. I ordered the Westman Brekkie with salmon. I enjoyed the roasted beets that came with it - as well as the potatoes, greens, roasted zucchini, scrambled eggs, and sourdough bread. Overall, we appreciated the pleasant decor and community table. The nice thing about this place is that it is new, the tables and seating are outside but protected from rain, and it is in a quiet, luxury environment and away from traffic. Lots of flying bugs though. Our server Jay was nice enough to bring to us a little bug repellent table fan, like the one on every other table. But they do not allow dogs!!! Thing starts to go downhill when they brought out the coffee, the sugar packs and the creamer, they are cheap and not up to standard. The sugar packs seemed old, and I only found a few packs of white sugar, and Sweet&Lows. There was not any Splenda or brown sugar, those sugar packs seemed to have been sitting out for a long time that the moisture had them glued together. Then along with the coffee creamer: we got 3 plastic tiny coffee creamers that are industrial and cheap. I expected fresh cream from this fancy place, but no, they are so cheap with sugar packs and creamers, that they really lowered and cheapened their standard while charging high prices. Very disappointed. The $22 dollar soufflé pancakes was soft and creamy, they give you 2 pancakes but small in size -two bites and they are gone, and I doubt that the blueberry sauce on the side were freshly made, because it tasted freezing cold. The french toast was nothing special, so was the rest of the food. Overall, disappointing! Also they do Not allow dogs, as the management stated to me when I booked the tables on the OpenTable app. This is an outdoor restaurant in a dog friendly community, why does this restaurant hate dogs? We live in the neighborhood and one day walked our dog past Westman's. After reading all the good reviews, we finally figured, "Eh, we go check 'em out." Just so we're clear, this review is only for dinner, and more specifically, the oxtail soup. I seen plenty people say the brunch is ono, so I definitely like come back and try dat. We even looked at the menu and already know what we want to try. This review isn't about the brunch. We arrived on time for our reservation and we were offered to sit inside or outside. We chose outside to see all the action going on since it's right next to a park with all the kids and families hanging out. We ordered a couple appetizers and our entrees. Ok the oxtail soup. It was....ahhhhh ok. Not bad, but definitely not "broke da mouth" kine. If you're looking for that rich, old-school local-style oxtail soup reminiscent of Kam Bowl, this is not it. To me, the broth tasted more like a shoyu-based dashi. I never really got that deep, beefy flavor that usually comes from simmering oxtails for hours. I also couldn't really taste the hint of star anise that gives traditional oxtail soup that signature aroma and flavor. It just came across a little flat for my taste. Almost like California hotels one now. Yeah that one changed too but that's another review. What really bummed me out was the amount of meat. For $28, I was expecting at least a couple more pieces of oxtail. I literally got one piece. ONE! The picture I posted is that one piece after I trimmed off the fat. I even looked around the bowl thinking, "Eh... maybe one more piece hiding at the bottom of the bowl?" After running my chopsticks along the bottom back and forth I came to the sad realization that I am only getting one. I highly recommend staying away from this dish and go somewhere else if you craving oxtail soup. Now, the service? Shoots, no complaints there. Taka was our waiter, and he was awesome--friendly, attentive, and always checking in on us. My wife liked his service so much she was ready to offer him a job! The other waiter was also on it, and even the hostess stopped by to see how everything was. The service was definitely the highlight of the night. We'll definitely give Westman's another shot because like I said, we heard good things about the brunch. I was gonna give this place a 1 star like my 1 piece oxtail but I'm giving it a 2 star because the service was awesome. Great new brunch spot in Ward! It's still pretty busy, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The venue is really cute with both indoor and outdoor seating options. A nice touch was that they provided a small bug fan for the table, which I appreciated since Ward can have quite a few flies. I ordered the French Toast with bacon and eggs, and we also got the soufflé pancakes for the table. I loved that they let me swap the French toast cheese sauce for mixed berry instead. Place has potential but still working the kinks out. Place is pretty new and it's a nice venue. Service is nice and friendly and food was hitting some key buzzwords for us, including soufflé pancakes and wagyu loco moco. Execution could use some work. For example the French toast, eggs, and bacon came out cold. The washugyu loco moco and bowl had steak that was overall good but a little dry/chewy. Also I enjoyed the outdoor seating but there was a good amount of flies hovering around. And not too far you can see/hear the ongoing construction. read more

We are visiting Honolulu and a local friend suggested to meet up for breakfast here. It's still soft opening so we need to make a reservation on opentable. The restaurant has a great vibe - modern and chic. I wanted to try the loco moco but it's only offered at a later hour. The soufflé pancake was very light and fluffy. But the center seemed a little undercooked. The tropical sauce was very fresh and tasty. We also ordered potatoes and sausage on the side. Both were cooked very well and we can taste the quality of ingredients. Parking tip - we parked at Whole Foods nearby and went shopping after having breakfast here. read more

I only giving 2 stars for the service, which was excellent. Don't order the shakshuka. It is most definitely NOT shakshuka. It is not a vibrant red color like shakshuka should be. The spices were not right and the description says eggs, plural. There was one egg, singular. There also were a lot of beans. Had I not been keenly aware that shakshuka is an egg dish, as I have eaten it all over the Middle East, I would have thought this was a bean soup dish with an egg in it. That being said, if you want to pay $18.00 for a bean soup with an egg in it, go for it! read more

Nice new addition to the neighborhood! Ambiance - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Food - 3.5/5 What is all the fus about? Well the souffle pancakes are good but not wow. Worth a try for those who like souffle pancakes. The mahi loco moco was good. "Healthy" alternative to traditional loco moco. The gravy was tasty and felt homemade. Will try the bar next time. Hoping for more items on their menu - it does appear there's more to come. read more

100% honesty, i am not a big pancake person. That being said, the soufflé pancakes were the best pancakes i have ever had in my life. I would eat them every day for the rest of my life. Changed the game, 10/10. read more
