    Omelette brekkie

My friend and I went for brunch on Tuesday and was surprised at how packed it was. Also being right next to a playground is not ideal as it's loud. Service was ok. We got water, but our food came out before our drinks. I got the omelette which was tasty, but the salad was just not great. When working with arugula which is so bitter, the dressing has to help balance it out and it just didn't. It made it more bitter. We also shared the soufflé pancakes which were tasty and very jiggly, so they did a good job with those. They were creamy and kind of melted in your mouth. Getting the drinks after our food wasn't ideal, but my friend got an iced coffee and when she asked for creamer, the waitress said they didn't have any and brought regular milk. Decent alternative except they charged an extra $2 for the milk. I don't know who you don't offer cream for coffee and then charge for the only alternative available. While the food was good, I just don't see myself going back.

Brunch in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... My former coworker wanted to get together, so I suggested that we meet at Westman Cafe. The easiest parking would be at Whole Foods, but she doesn't like the narrowness of that parking structure. She parked at Ward Village Entertainment Complex and walked across the street. Westman Cafe is located on the ground level of the Kō'ula Building, across from Dean & Deluca. It's an open-air styled café with some annoying flies. Eventually, a server brought a spinning device for our table to assist with the problem, but the flies were still hanging around. Our server, Chris, was excellent! He was attentive and friendly! My friend had some questions, like: what's the most popular flavor for souffle pancakes... and she got the mixed berry. I ordered the Westman Brekkie with salmon. I enjoyed the roasted beets that came with it - as well as the potatoes, greens, roasted zucchini, scrambled eggs, and sourdough bread. Overall, we appreciated the pleasant decor and community table. We didn't have a reservation, so we're lucky that we got squeezed in on a weekday.

Place has potential but still working the kinks out. Place is pretty new and it's a nice venue. Service is nice and friendly and food was hitting some key buzzwords for us, including soufflé pancakes and wagyu loco moco. Execution could use some work. For example the French toast, eggs, and bacon came out cold. The washugyu loco moco and bowl had steak that was overall good but a little dry/chewy. Also I enjoyed the outdoor seating but there was a good amount of flies hovering around. And not too far you can see/hear the ongoing construction.

The nice thing about this place is that it is new, the tables and seating are outside but protected from rain, and it is in a quiet, luxury environment and away from traffic. Lots of flying bugs though. Our server Jay was nice enough to bring to us a little bug repellent table fan, like the one on every other table. But they do not allow dogs!!! Thing starts to go downhill when they brought out the coffee, the sugar packs and the creamer, they are cheap and not up to standard. The sugar packs seemed old, and I only found a few packs of white sugar, and Sweet&Lows. There was not any Splenda or brown sugar, those sugar packs seemed to have been sitting out for a long time that the moisture had them glued together. Then along with the coffee creamer: we got 3 plastic tiny coffee creamers that are industrial and cheap. I expected fresh cream from this fancy place, but no, they are so cheap with sugar packs and creamers, that they really lowered and cheapened their standard while charging high prices. Very disappointed. The $22 dollar soufflé pancakes was soft and creamy, they give you 2 pancakes but small in size -two bites and they are gone, and I doubt that the blueberry sauce on the side were freshly made, because it tasted freezing cold. The french toast was nothing special, so was the rest of the food. Overall, disappointing! Also they do Not allow dogs, as the management stated to me when I booked the tables on the OpenTable app. This is an outdoor restaurant in a dog friendly community, why does this restaurant hate dogs? Hence: One star.

We are visiting Honolulu and a local friend suggested to meet up for breakfast here. It's still soft opening so we need to make a reservation on opentable. The restaurant has a great vibe - modern and chic. I wanted to try the loco moco but it's only offered at a later hour. The soufflé pancake was very light and fluffy. But the center seemed a little undercooked. The tropical sauce was very fresh and tasty. We also ordered potatoes and sausage on the side. Both were cooked very well and we can taste the quality of ingredients. Parking tip - we parked at Whole Foods nearby and went shopping after having breakfast here.

Nice new addition to the neighborhood! Ambiance - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Food - 3.5/5 What is all the fus about? Well the souffle pancakes are good but not wow. Worth a try for those who like souffle pancakes. The mahi loco moco was good. "Healthy" alternative to traditional loco moco. The gravy was tasty and felt homemade. Will try the bar next time. Hoping for more items on their menu - it does appear there's more to come.

Tried the Shakshuka and soufflé pancakes. Sourdough did not taste like sourdough, it was more like a toast point. The shakshuka was packed with veggies, but it was very watery. Soufflé pancakes were light and fluffy. Definitely go for the soufflés. They make them very fresh! Coffee here is done super well! Coffee flavor is rich. Tried a cappuccino, filtered coffee, and latte. All were very rich and good. Service was quick. Make a reservation through open table. Indoor and outdoor seating. Free parking garages.

Westman Cafe The food was absolutely delicious--everything we ordered was great. The space is beautiful, open, and airy, which I really liked. The only downside was the coffee, which felt a bit too strong for my taste. Also, there was landscaping happening during our visit, so it was a bit noisy at times. We asked if it could be done later, but unfortunately that wasn't possible. They kindly offered to move us inside, but since it's also an open space, the noise level was similar. Overall, still a lovely experience and I'd definitely come back for the food.

Saw that this new place popped up and was excited to try it! Dined in for a girl's day brunch since it was my last day in O'ahu. The space is really cute. We had an outdoor table that overlooked some of the playground. Flies and gnats can be very annoying at times but they did provide us with fans to keep them at bay. We ordered a smoothie, some matcha lattes, and coffee lattes. They were okay, nothing out of the ordinary. We first ordered some soufflé pancakes to share which were really tasty. Fluffy, soft, and not too eggy! This was definitely the highlight of our meal. I also really enjoyed the vanilla bean whipped cream which had little specks of vanilla. It wasn't too sweet which was also a plus. We ordered washugyu beef and mahi-mahi loco mocos, shakshuka, an acai bowl, and also a washugyu steak bowl as our entrees. The timing was a bit off because our friend who had ordered an acai bowl ended up waiting a bit longer to get her item in comparison to the rest of us with normal entrees. I thought the presentation of the regular loco moco was fantastic. I was a little saddened to find that the flavor just wasn't hitting for me. While the patty itself was juicy, it felt like it lacked seasoning - a little more salt or pepper would have sufficed. I tried the patty with the gravy but it was kind of the same deal. It felt as though it leaned more towards a demi glace sauce but it also lacked flavor and depth. I saw lots of onions and mushrooms in the gravy and thought maybe more of that flavor would shine through. Despite that, the brussel sprouts were perfect. Perfectly crispy! The cabbage slaw and pickled veggies were also solid. I think one of the biggest things was that the mahi-mahi portion was significantly smaller in comparison to the regular loco moco. I know that this restaurant is geared for a more upscale setting but it truly felt like looking at a fine dining portion. At the same $22 price point, we assumed our friend would have got a little bit more for the price. We ended up giving her some of our loco moco to compensate. We did inquire about the portion size and the restaurant was kind enough of comp her meal so we were very appreciative about that. Unfortunately, our other friend who ordered a steak bowl had to send it back to the kitchen to be cooked a little longer. She ordered her steak medium rare and it was a little too blue. The acai bowl was nothing to write home about and was a little small for the price. The shakshuka was pretty good with chorizo, it very reminiscent of chili. Still at $18, I'm not sure I could justify that. At the end our meal, our friend also found a hair in her food but we were pretty much finished at that point so we just wrapped up and left. From what I've read, I know that this place opened recently so there is bound to be growing pains. This is definitely a lot of promise in the offerings and location but I think there definitely needs to be adjustments as far as the food and portion. I would like to say that throughout this experience, our server was really attentive and tried his best to attend to our needs. We all worked in the service industry in the past, so we understand how tough it can be to work with a table when things don't go according to plan. So we're very appreciative of the wonderful service! I hope with time... things improve. Maybe the next time around, I'll try that Japanese breakfast.

Great spot for brunch! Super aesthetic vibes and dishes. We ordered their soufflé pancakes and French toast with bacon and eggs and arugula. Everything was delish and good service too.

Great new brunch spot in Ward! It's still pretty busy, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. The venue is really cute with both indoor and outdoor seating options. A nice touch was that they provided a small bug fan for the table, which I appreciated since Ward can have quite a few flies. I ordered the French Toast with bacon and eggs, and we also got the soufflé pancakes for the table. I loved that they let me swap the French toast cheese sauce for mixed berry instead. Everything was delicious. Looking forward to coming back again!

Just OK. Nice to try once for pleasant brunchy vibes but overall it wasn't anything special. Made a reservation via OpenTable. Not sure if they are taking walk-ins yet but the other reviews said it was important to book ahead so I did. Ambiance is pleasant and photogenic. Seating is indoor and outdoor but all the doors are open. Service was fast and polite, our server was kind and helpful. There were a lot of flies though, we were given a little fan, but they were annoying to swat away the whole time. Prices are ~ $2-5 more than I'd pay at a comparable brunch spot in the area (comparing to another casual sit down brunch spot like Tango nearby) and portions are smaller too. My latte was $6 and good. Tried the $16 beet toast and the $22 lemon souffle pancakes. The beet toast came with labneh, pistachios, micro greens, and dukka. It was very flavorful but small. The souffle pancakes were fresh and fluffy, the cream and lemon curd were nice sides, but again they were quite small for the price paid. Overall the experience was about what I expected, paid a bit more for the location probably, but it was enjoyable and pleasant for the most part. Don't come here super hungry though- We ended the meal and went to Dean & Deluca for more snacks afterwards, hah.

My friends and I were excited to try Westman Cafe for their soufflé pancakes and they did not disappoint. It was one of the best items we ordered. We also tried the French toast, Wagyushu loco moco, and avocado toast. The French toast was just okay and a bit dry, and one slice is not really shareable. The loco moco was interesting because the gravy tasted more like curry than traditional gravy, but it was still good. The avocado toast stood out and was just as memorable as the soufflé pancakes. Our lattes were also delicious. The set up is beautiful, I love the open air and natural lighting. I would come back to try more items on the menu.

Over the years I've noticed the staff has become so much nicer and welcoming which is what I think of when I think of the Aloha spirit. Today I encountered a simple smile from the barista when I asked for extra half and half. She was very kind and sweet and sometimes that's all it takes. Keep in mind they are extremely busy with a line outside so to still offer good customer service in the middle of all that is gold. I always put my order in through the toast app and pick up to go. By the time my drink is ready my açaí bowl is melted. Today I decided to bring it up to the staff and encountered my lovely Lucille. She took my açaí bowl and put it in her freezer and gave me direction to put a note on my order to not prep the açaí bowl till I get there. That was very helpful! I'm happy not to have açaí soup anymore! Haha! But the best thing about it, she did it with a smile and it was genuine. You know when you just feel someone has a good soul..yeah, I felt that. Her demeanor was no different than how a family member would treat you. When she handed my açaí bowl back, she placed a napkin underneath it so the warmth of my hand wouldn't melt the bowl further...and the cherry on top was that I literally had the absolute BEST açaí bowl I've ever had made by Lucille. No joke! Sometimes there is too much granola, or too little fruit, but she made it with the perfect balance with each ingredient. She spoiled me and now I always want my açaí bowls to be made by Lucille! Lmao. I've been going through some tough times and I hope she knows (along with the taller young barista who offered me the half and half) that they both made my day a little brighter. I wish I took a photo of her beautiful creation but I got it down way too quick! :( Order the açaí bowl with Haupia cream and the Mona Kea iced coffee with macadamia nut, salted caramel and lava salt. It's another Sunday search with my hubby. We wanted something small for breakfast and decided to…read moregive Cafe Lapin a try. Sunday street parking is free so we parked in one of the metered stalls on Sheridan Street. Free parking This place is located on the 3rd floor. We opted to take the stairs to get our steps in but there is also an elevator available. The shop is very tidy and for seating, inside there is a communal table for up to 6 and a table for 2. Outside there are tables on the lanai area. The menu is limited but has both sweet and savory options as well as a good selection of coffees and teas. Today we tried the Guava with cream cheese and Black Sesame with cream cheese. The bread made made both yummy! Both were not too sweet and served in a lovely presentation. Prices were pushing the wallet for the serving size however, I can understand it because of the time and effort that it takes to make the toast presentation make you do a double take. Overall, the service was good and we did not feel rushed at all. We were able to slow down our typical pace and just enjoy each other's company. This definitely a place I would love to share a mommy-daughter breakfast excursion.

It's a bit hard to find though. Located on the top floor of a complex with other food options. You take the elevator up. I'd recommend parking in the Walmart structure across the street because otherwise parking is also hard to find. I got a seasonal drink (white sesame kinako latte with a shot of matcha) and at $11 it was maybe the priciest cup of caffeine I've ever had haha. But it was interesting and tasty and got me refreshed, so worth savoring as a special treat. My husband got a maple cocoa cold foam coffee and it was also delicious! We also got a couple of baked items, which took a while (barista did thank us for waiting) to come out but the tuna melt toast especially hit the spot. The dashi tamago sando was just alright. They also have dessert treats which looked delicious.

I was first introduced to Neko Koneko from their bottled milk teas, hojicha, and matcha. I would see them at farmer's markets popping up, but their cafe really brings their drinks to the next level. I like how a lot of their iced drinks, when you dine in you can do a little pour over action so the ice doesn't water down the drink too much. When I first came by, I couldn't decide between a matcha and a coffee so I got both... and fully finished both drinks they were so good. Parking can be tricky, it's only metered parking on the busy street. The space is small, but if there aren't any tables available inside there's also an outdoor patio area for you to enjoy your drinks

I had the Kinako milk, which was good but not as flavorful! It was true to the Kinako flavor though! The bottles are a little pricey, and parking is hard-it's easy if someone waits in the car while the other runs in to pickup
