There are actually a lot of tourists eating there. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring you the food. The food came out quickly and service was pleasant and efficient. I ordered the Koa Moco, it is like a loco moco but with one beef patty and one corned beef hash patty. It was smothered with dark brown gravy and over easy eggs; it was delicious and filling. My wife ordered the strawberry cheesecake pancakes, I guess it is called cheesecake because of the cream cheese drizzle. She really enjoyed it and said she will definitely order it again. Ordered a cheese omelet with spam, onions and tomatoes. With home fries and chocolate pancake. While eating the omelet I noticed something small and dark nothing in my omelet should have anything dark. Looking closer i noticed it was a bug yuck!!!! One of all time favorite pancake joints, and I guess Koa Pancake House is all over the island because I've tried a few different locations with the exception of the Hawaii Kai location, as it was an all time first for me. Great service, awesome pancakes & coffee, what more can you ask for? My friend wanted to take me out to breakfast, so I told her that I wanted to go to Koa Pancake House in Hawaii Kai. Upon walking into the restaurant, I noticed that the restaurant set up was similar to the Kaimuki Koa Pancake House location. I ended up getting my usual spinach mushroom cheese omelet, and my side was a stack of buttermilk pancakes. My friend ended up ordering the corned beef hash, eggs, & potatoes. To wash down our meals, we enjoyed several cups of hot coffee. What can I say about the grub? I would say it's just your standard hearty breakfast. Nothing fancy, but sometimes simple is what I like. Ready for a simple breakfast after a good hike. We chose Koa Pancake House since it's closer and because they make good Vinha d'alhos (Portuguese style marinated pork). If you haven't tried it yet, then come and visit them. I don't know of any other place that makes it. But...we ended up with French toast, two over easy eggs and crispy bacon. That's because I'm cutting on my white rice intake. Even as simple as this is yummm! It's soak enough without making squishy or soggy. The bacon is cooked crispilicious! To finish it off, we had the nutella crêpes with strawberries. This is good but not something that I'll order again...it's too sweet. It's too sweet. But if you have a sweeter tooth than me, then this is for you ;) It's not on photo but I also got a coffee. Please add another 2 scoops to get that caffeine in ;). It's really mild. Why is the coconut syrup like coconut water? We have been getting takeout breakfast here for years now. We ordered the blueberry pancakes, fried rice and 2 omelets. On Jun 8, 2026 between 10:30 am to 11:30 am, my family received one of the worst customer service experiences. We always go here and the food is usually good. The staff appeared to be high school-aged employees who were goofing around in the back and not taking their work seriously. When we asked for an extra plate, our request was never fulfilled. More importantly, the kalbi plate we received was completely burnt. We returned it and asked for a replacement, but the second plate was also burnt. After requesting another replacement, the third plate was slightly better, but parts of the kalbi sides were burnt. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it was frustrating to receive burnt food multiple times and have basic requirements overlooked. I hope management provides better supervision and training to ensure customers receive good service and properly prepared food. Thank you. read more
