Now MoeJoes is not only a good place for your Cajun fix, I hear it can get pretty rowdy on the weekends (if you're into that!) The location and outdoor seating is great. Main Street in Plainfield so you have plenty of action all over. The inside is pretty dark but we always sit outside. What we ate: Appetizer Fried green tomato on garlic crostini: A Very different app you rarely see anywhere. Tomato was only slightly fried, they didn't over batter and it was really sweet. Lunch Boar burger (apparently voted best burger in the area): B+. Taste was great, but the burger was tough to eat, big and messy. I thought the boar was slightly dry too. Overall a good burger tho! I've been back a few times and the food is just great. It can get crazy busy and they always appear to give it their best. I decided to treat the family this year to their deep dish sweet potato pecan pie for Thanksgiving. I think there's enough to freeze half for Christmas too. I had no idea that Plainfield had a downtown. I also had no idea that said downtown had a super authentic Cajun restaurant. Knowing these two things now I'll be visiting the area a lot more now. Moe Joe's is the real deal: great food, drinks, and service. I read the reviews on Yelp and braced myself for slow service but good food. I guess the management is reading the Yelp reviews, because the service was fast and friendly. We were in the basement and ordering from the bartender, and I swear we had 3 different appetizers brought out within 10 minutes. Each was piping hot, delicious, and huge. Drinks were refilled nearly instantaneously. Yay for that. Food- we had the fried alligator, fried pickles, and a blackened shrimp Po Boy. I was going to get the Etoufee based on the recommendations, but we were looking for easy to eat dishes as opposed to entrees. All 3 were great. I'd never had alligator, so I can cross that one off the bucket list. It does indeed taste like chicken, but you can brag that you ate alligator. The shrimp Po Boy was exceptional... my girlfriend lived in Louisiana and said that the food is exactly the same as you'd get down there. Overall, this is a really good place. Oh my lord! Salad wasn't anything to talk about. Croutons was like a peace of rubber, chicken was dried out. 3 of my friends orders fries with their sandwich & got chips. They asked if they could have fries. She looked at them like they were stupid & said their on your plate. We said fries not chips. She said those are their fries! WOW There was 12 of us out for a bike ride. Heard this place had a great crawfish. They were out. Our waitress couldn't remember more than 3 drinks at a time. We have been coming here since they opened and the last year they have gone down hill. Their service is terrible their and food is getting more expensive. Tonight i placed a to go order at 730pm they told me it would be 20 mins i knew it wouldnt be 20 minutes so i went a little later but still didn't get my food for over an hour after i called and then she forgot to add items i ordered on my ticket so we didn't get all the food we planned on getting. They didn't have any silverware or napkins. Said they were working on it. She came back to the table after 15 min with two forks and two napkins for the four of us to share. She said she needed to share what she had with the other tables. We asked her for a box for our apps then the hostess came with two more fork/napkin bundles. Maybe it's because I'm not a huge cajun person... but on the other hand, they have great cocktails, entertainment and I've always had a blast when I've come here with my friends when I'm in town. I ordered delivery and decided to weigh the two containers it came in. 2.4 lbs including the weight of the container. So actually receive approximately 2lbs for $17. If I could hive negative stars I would. I went here with my family a couple of weeks ago. We waited about an hour and still hour presence wasn't acknowledged. We didn't get any bread (which they give you while you wait) and we weren't even offered water. My wife noticed two tables where patrons had their orders taken, given bread, and water. These patrons had just arrived. Very disheartening. I came there to spend money and have a good time with my family. As someone who travels to NOLA twice per year I'll admit that Moe Joe's is a great taste of the big easy close to home. The food is seasoned well and the menu includes several tasty classic Cajun options. However, I think the owners are missing an opportunity by such a literal translation. Why not offer a "grown-up" version of Bourbon St. instead of merely imitating the drunken, dingy display synonymous with late nights in the French Quarter? Moe Joe's is in dire need of bathroom remodeling and a good spring cleaning! The menus were already sticky when I stopped by for Happy Hour! I will definitely return on Thursdays for the martini specials but won't go too late to avoid the rank smells notoriously attached to late nights on Bourbon. I have dined here many many times. This is the first time that our experience here was disappointing and the service provided was subpar (to put it nicely). I just had dinner and drinks with some friends here last night and let me first start by saying the food was great. We were a party of seven but understood that the place was busy and that the food would take a while. There were two of us who ordered burgers MEDIUM and they came out well done. After waiting almost an hour for food, we felt it wasn't worth it to wait for a replacement. Our server wasn't personable at all. We didn't have water at our table and had to ask more than once to finally get a few glasses. As we concluded the night, we received the check (our server couldn't split it, which was fine) until she came back a few times asking if the check was ready. Then proceeded to ask if we wanted to split it all evenly. We didn't even eat or drink the same things so we didn't want to split evenly at all as it wouldn't make sense for others in the party who didn't order food. The 18% factored in gratuity wasn't warranted as the service was damn near non existent. For future patrons, please note, the food is phenomenal. Don't hesitate to try anything on the menu and if you dine in, just ask not to be seated in McKenna's section. Cheers! read more

We went in tonight for a friend's birthday around 9pm. Our server was super attentive and so awesome throughout the night. She informed us of the specials and was sure to split the bills for us. We ended up staying later than intended and decided to go to the bar for more drinks. We ordered about five and the bartender proceeded to roll her eyes and act as if we were bothering her. The bar was particularly empty at this time. We added on one more drink, she rolled her eyes and asked for help. I asked her if there was an issue and she continued to be snotty. I am never one to make a stink about wrong food, wrong drinks, etc. I'm honestly appalled by how I was treated. If I ever decide to come back, I really hope that same bartender isn't there. This place has a cool atmosphere, I'll give them that. My girlfriend and I called ahead and told there was no wait. We walked in and the restaurant was about half full and no hostess or anyone acknowledged us standing in the front door. So we threw our hands up and walked over to the bar. It was freezing in there, I even had to walk back out to my car to get a sweatshirt, it was about 75 degrees out that day. We each got one beer, and we shared 3 appetizers. They were ok. I can't compare to other Cajun foods since I haven't had any, but as a foreigner to Cajun food (Popeyes aside), the food had lots of flavor and spice. The menu was interesting enough. I got the alligator po boy. I ordered the fried frog legs for the kids. I didn't realize the frog legs were spiced with lots of pepper. They didn't eat it, and I ended up getting them mac and cheese lol. It was a win-win because I liked the frog legs and they liked the mac and cheese. The po boy was great. I totally forgot I was eating alligator and thought I was eating shrimp until my last few bites though. Nice decor and nice service too. read more

I'm disappointed that this place was such a disappointment. I love anything Cajun, creole, or outta Nola. However this place would make people in the French Quarter cry. After arriving here at 5:35, I was told the wait was going to be about 30 minutes. I said that was fine and put my name down. 30 minutes later, it was another 30 minutes. And then another 10 minutes. We didn't sit down until 7:15. I wish that they had told us the correct time in the first place. We would have gone elsewhere and saved us the headache of waiting an hour and a half for a table for four. It probably wasn't the restaurant's fault because there was a massive party of about 20. There should be a time limit for large parties or they should allow reservations for parties smaller than 6. I did see many parties waiting around for 15 minutes for someone to take their check. The hostesses should learn to give customers more accurate waiting times and servers have to learn to be better about turning tables over. I got the gumbo, the crawfish boil and the oysters. The gumbo was spicy and had a kick to it (which was a nice surprise) but not anything to write home about. The crawfish boil was disgusting. The crawfish had one flavor: salt. There was no sauce. And the corn on the cob it came with was actually cold. Like they had just pulled it out of a fridge cold. What the hell?? The bar was already loud from the people and the music. While we were eating, they decided to turn it up more. I could no longer hold a conversation, even if I tried yelling. My boyfriend had the frog legs with cheddar mashed potatoes which he enjoyed a lot. That is the only thing earning this place an additional star. This is an expensive restaurant. So given the terrible quality and service (and hard to find parking), I definitely won't be back. read more

A fun choice in downtown Plainfield. Interesting decor, friendly, young staff. Food is tasty and their Cajun/Creole choices are decent. Kitchen made a couple mistakes or oversights but our waitress was helpful in resolving what she could. Large menu with something for everyone. Full bar with many New Orleans brands like Turbo Dog beer. The fried chicken had great crunch but was a little dry for us. Jambalaya was very good. The place was packed, even at 7:30 on a Saturday night (which is good for the restaurant) and was still going strong when we left around 9:00 (which may be unusual for some places in Plainfield). Lots of group tables, some with cackling carousers but all good-natured revelry. Don't expect to get a serious conversation in or a quiet intimate meal. It's not that kind of place. They encourage a fun atmosphere so be tolerant of the noise. I'd try it again. We didn't have room for dessert but maybe next time...! read more

Wow! been to Mojo at least 5 or more times, today new year eve my wife and I went for dinner about 6pm. no problem getting seated. no problems with the drinks. The dinner on the other hand was not good. My wife got the blacken chicken on the stick and it was dry as hell. I order the jambalaya which I love but man this was bad, chicken was dry, the sausage was well done and the rice i think they dump the cayenne pepper. Not too sure but I ask the waitress if they changed cooks and she said no. I then said is he piss off working New years eve and she laugh. For the $63 on dinner I spent I would have done other options that night if I knew it was going to be that bad. I would hope the next time it is much better but than again It's going to take sometime before i return and take a chance on them.
