The Joliet Red Lobster location continues to be one of my favorites. The restaurant is clean and the service is always good. My mom always orders the endless shrimp and I went with the fried flounder for lunch. I got coleslaw for my side which was creamy and so good! My mom enjoyed her side salad and baked potato for her side. She also loved the options for the endless shrimp. Her go to shrimps were the following: coconut shrimp, shrimp scampi, and Walt's favorite shrimp. This continues to be a good deal even though the price went up. Oh and those Cheddar bay biscuits...always hot, buttery, cheesy and oh so good! Love this place!! read more

I truly hate having to rate a restaurant just 1 star, but this Red Lobster doesn't even deserve this star. We had reservations for 1:00, we were all at the front desk by 1:01 but didn't get seated until 1:30. During this time we witnessed incomplete parties with no reservations just walk in, a male wait staff, who refused any more tables of "old people", because he already had 2 tables with "old people ". The another female server who didn't want anyone sitting in her section. All this while plenty of booths and tables sat empty. All 3 of us, decided to try the Endless Shrimp promotion for $24.99. Four recipes of shrimp were offered which included shrimp scampi. Walt's shrimp (fried with a light corn batter), Marry Me Shrimp (their new offering) and shrimp Alfredo with fettuccine. The shrimp scampi in the garlic butter was horribly overcooked and rubbery. This recipe for Marry Me Shrimp would have me running out to find a divorce attorney. It was just tomato sauced so overcooked it was like eating shrimp jerky. Thank goodness the shrimp scampi garlic sauce worked well to dip the cheddar biscuits and broccoli into in the garlic oil. As far as the ambiance, this locations appearance was very old and has seem better days. A clear plan to paint and add new rugs would add an improvement however, I'm getting a sense that corporate is just trying to suck dry the life out of the remaining restaurants. It's a shame that this is happening at a restaurant that once provided a decent meal to charging $25 for totally inedible food. read more

I love red lobster. This location specifically usually has great service. Not today. Ashley G. If you get her you might as well turn around and go to the canes across the street. Took over 10 minutes to receive just our drinks. Waited almost 40 for the food. Cold food. My mashed potatoes had a skin over them because of how long they were sitting out for. Had to ask for a refill, then took her more than 15 minutes to bring just that. And if it had been busy or just bad food I wouldn't be writing this. It was 2 pm on a monday. I am a rewards member but I won't be going to this Red Lobster again. I took my SIL there for dinner at 6 pm on a Thursday nite and there were only 5-6 tables with customers. It was like a ghost town. The waitress spent a lot of time talking to another table of guests but finally came for our order. The shrimp and salmon were okay but the rolls were dry and the broccoli was not edible. It was overcooked and had brown spots suggesting that it was also old produce to begin with. Unfortunately this location missed the mark on first impressions. We almost walked out due to no one being in the front to greet and seat us. We waited about 7-8 minutes before I had to flag down someone at the carryout window to get someone to seat us, unacceptable. (Talking about the kid with the black glasses and braces). Came here with my wife for dinner. We haven't been to a Red Lobster in years and we were in the area. We were seated right away and offered the drink menu. Wife had the Riesling by the glass which she said was very good. Ordered the calamari with 2 dipping saucesas an appetizer which was good, although it ended up coming out at the same time as our entrees which we didn't prefer. Nonetheless, for our mains...I went with the Baridi crab legs and Cajun butter on the side. Crab was very good. A bit bigger than the snow crab option. Ordered the crab Mac and cheese as my side because it's Crab Fest and why not. Mac and cheese was good but nothing special. Cajun butter sauce for dipping crab was great and I guess new according to the menu. The crispy potatoes that came with the crab were great and nice and crispy as they should be Wife had the grilled skewered shrimp and rice. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Our server was also really good and attentive although I forgot his name. Overall, we had a very good experience. Don't often dine at Red Lobster, but we would certainly come back should we have a hankering for chain restaurant seafood down the road. Recommended. read more

We just about gave up on Red Lobster after our last few meals at the Bolingbrook location. We gave them several chances but never again. Food was always cold and took forever (30+ minutes or longer) to come to the table. It was also wrong most of the time and tasted bad. I finally complained up the chain of command and was given a $100 certificate to give them another chance. Even for free, we weren't going to go to the Bolingbrook location again so we tried the one located in Joliet and we're glad we did. The food was hot and tasty and came in 10 minutes. Our server was friendly and was very helpful in answering our questions and fulfilling our requests. We WILL be back again! read more

We haven't been to RL in years. We decided to give it a shot. Bad idea. I had picked out two entrees because I had a feeling they weren't going to have the mahi. Our waitress took our order and she went back and came back to us and said no they did not have the mahi. So I said well I had a second entrée in mind because I had a feeling you weren't gonna have it so I'll have the trout. She left and came back and said no they did not have the trout either. My fiancé and I rarely eat out anymore because we always get bad luck with restaurants, and last night was no different. We waited almost 10 mins just for our server to greet us and take our drink order. He said that he was also bartending and serving which we sat at a booth nowhere near the bar. The employees are fantastic, the food is always great, and the place is spotless, including its dishes, silverware, etc. The dual lobster tails (one Caribbean, one Maine) are always prepared perfectly and last time, I had the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake for the first time and it was amazing! I usually love red lobster. With this. Where do I even begin. I ordered crab legs. Lots of them. 4lbs. All bad. Nasty legs. The meat falls apart when you touch it. It's rubbery and fishy. It's stinky. The shells were falling apart as I picked up my legs. They legs were remade and some were ok just for me to be met with the same soggy bland legs when I got to a different cluster. This was my first time here. My server Paul was kind, to the point, and wasted no time. Service was a little slow but they have three call offs (Paul informed me.) so that wasn't my issue. I got the Baja Shrimp Bowl. It took awhile to get there but once it did I was fairly disappointed. I was missing my avocado, sour cream, tortilla strips, and jalapeño ranch. I just had rice, heavily pickled onions, shrimp, and a mound of black beans that could rival Mount Everest. I politely informed my waiter, just hoping I could get the missing ingredients on the side, but was told that they had none of the missing items. Have always come to red lobster, but stopped coming for awhile because they got rid of my favorite entree, the maple glazed chicken. But I have come to find that their burgers are actually really good. My husband got the unlimited shrimp, which you can choose from a good amount of options! He got the shrimp linguine, coconut shrimp, Parmesan crusted shrimp and waltz's. He said all were really good. We always get the Bahama mommas here, they are great. We ate at the Joliet IL location last Saturday and I ordered twin lobster tails. For $42 I received about 4 oz's of lobster tails. They were completely flat and about half inch thick. They did not look like high quality tails at all. I paid $4 extra for a salad. Salads used to be included with their meals. The salad was more than enough for two people but you can only eat so much salad and can't take it home. My husband ordered pasta with Cajun chicken and the sauce on the pasta was super watery and not good. The coconut shrimp appetizer was the best thing we had. The service was good and the restaurant was clean and seemed well maintained. For well over $100 including tip it was a total ripoff. Red Lobster used to be my favorite restaurant years ago. Before all you seafood snobs look down upon me, let's remember that RL was there for us when we got our first paycheck from our first job and wanted to eat somewhere "fancy." RL was there for us after prom. So don't get all bougie cuz you've gone to college or got a couple of tatts in your passport. Put some respek' on RL's name lol. Yes, okay, I'm talking to myself. I've been to some pretty upscale places for Chilean sea bass, and Crustaceans and Papadeaux and all that. But when the service is good, and the food is fresh at RL, it still holds it's own. After some botched dinner plans, we stepped in with 10 ppl on Mothers' Day of all days, and only had about an hour wait. Our server, Ryan, was super nice, attentive, and got everything right. Everyone at the table was pleased with their food. Not a single complaint. Well... ...except for me. But they're minor. I ordered the create your own with three options (hey, I'm a growing boy, whaddya expect?). While I knew the scallops wouldn't be like I make at home, I also didn't expect the little mini sea marshmallows that showed up to the table. They were still good though. And the lobster mash was a bit of a joke, with three tiny niblets of lobster meat over luke warm potatoes. ...but Ryan kept the cheddar bay biscuits flowing in abundance though! This was my first time ordering from this location. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta, half a dozen biscuits, and 2 kids meals. The pasta was almost $20 for basically a child's size portion, that was mainly sauce, that I didn't have the option to add a veggie to it for an up charge, that was cold when i got home and I live less than 5 mins from the restaurant and came straight home. I specified that i wanted extra Cajun seasoning and I tasted NONE. It literally tasted like a plain unseasoned Alfredo. Then to find out if i hadn't ordered the half dozen biscuits I wouldn't have gotten any??? When did they stop including biscuits with the orders??? This one's a doozy. Before you get into this, I found out later that there wasn't actually a manager or a real supervisor on duty, just a lead bartender- shame on the management of this location for dumping both bar & restaurant operations on someone who's probably working for a criminally low hourly & depends on tips to live- instead of the salaried managers that should've been working on a graduation night. On that note, the staff blatantly told us they had not been expecting the volume they saw tonight and were not staffed properly- not sure how a management team of a high volume restaurant isn't aware of community events that would affect staffing decisions... to be very clear, the staff did the best they could with the resources they had- with the exception of the rancid server who mocked me in the middle of the dining room :) that doesn't make this experience any less disappointing though. We had a table at Applebees less than 15 minutes after we left here, highly recommend just going there in the first place. Had a large party of 11 people to celebrate graduation. We called ahead and let them know when to expect us. We arrived on time and sat by the host stand for close to 30 minutes. In that time, we watched another large party get sat before us along with couple that came in and eventually went to sit at the bar because every staff member was avoiding us at the front. After 30 minutes, we asked for a manager or to be sat. We even agreed to be split up by tables to make it easier. More time goes by as we watch the servers staring us down and talking amongst themselves. At this point, we decide to dine elsewhere, so I walk over to the group of 3 servers who are clearly talking about our party (who called in for a large group) to let them know that they don't need to bother to set tables for us as we were leaving. I told them it was very disappointing since we did our due diligence and then thanked them. Only after I turned my back did the over-processed blonde server (didn't catch any names) that was in the trio I spoke to mocked me by throwing up a sarcastic thumbs up... right in front of their other guests and members of my party who were watching her do it. She promptly ran away because I turned back around to ask about speaking to a manager. The other servers ran into the kitchen to complain about how they'd already made crappy tips for the night and didn't want to deal with us. There was one saving grace of a server who came out and spoke with us and actually empathized with us about the situation (because AGAIN, we called ahead. Tried to be good guests by being overly patient and understanding. Several members of our party have experience in the service industry, and to be so honest... it's red lobster. Nobody in their right mind genuinely expects a lot out of these chain restaurant experiences) I want to give credit where credit is due and she was great for the brief interaction we had- didn't catch her name either but she knew baseline customer service recovery. read more

I rarely come to this restaurant and that's because I am allergic to red shellfish. My brother and his wife were celebrating their wedding anniversary and I just came along. I only have a few menu options here: fried battered cod, chicken tenders, salmon or their 12 oz New York Steak. My choice is pretty obvious.
