    Now that's a good beef

The food was delicious, and on Italian Beef day what else would I get but a large beef dipped with sweet and hot peppers, fries, onion rings, oh what the heck I might as well get a Chicago dog too, the food came out very quickly it was hot and flavorful, the staff is so friendly, they treat you like you're family, I love going to Buona beef in Bolingbrook, you will too, don't forget to grab a Rainbow cone before you leave.

I would give this location a 4 overall. There was a small hiccup at the self ordering kiosk, there was no receipt paper. I took off one star because the taller girl didn't initially acknowledge me. I used to work in retail so you should always acknowledge the customer and let him/her know you'll be right with them. This girl ignored me at first until her supervisor told her to do her job. Luckily, there was a shorter girl that went above and beyond for me, she replaced the receipt paper and made sure I got everything I needed. Honestly, if it wasn't for the supervisor and that employee, I would have given less stars. I ordered the original Italian beef - large with mozzarella cheese, sweet peppers, and dipped. Flavor was all there, plenty of meat for that meat to bun ratio, and the meat was moist. I prefer this interpretation of the Italian beef over Portillo's (I've had many times) because the meat wasn't dry. Prices are not overinflated like some people wrote. Onion rings were good no complaints. They do offer a couple plant based options.

The restaurant was very clean and actually had really cool wall art being installed, overall really great atmosphere. The line went very quickly and the cashier was very pleasant. The lemonade was one of the best I've had in a while. It wasn't too sweet or too sour, but the perfect blend. The beef was excellently seasoned, but the fries weren't too salty but that's an easy fix. The salad had fresh and hot chicken with the perfect amount of dressing. Overall a great experience for food that came fresh and quickly.

    Canned mushrooms???? Ugh!

We ordered two pizzas last Tuesday. Not a good thing to do at a beef place. Positive - our order was delivered quickly and hot. Negative - my pizza was not well done as the receipt reflected. I picked it up and it was floppy, not crisp with a light bottom crust. Then....canned mushrooms!!! What restaurant uses canned mushrooms on pizza? Buona, you're telling me you don't have fresh mushrooms for salads that you can use on pizzas. Sacrilege! You get two stars for your fast delivery and hot food. I'll only be ordering Italian beefs from here on out.

The meatballs were delicious, the sauce actually was very good and I don't even like mushrooms at all. The second item I got was the meat filled dumplings, and those were really good. They were actually a lot better than I thought they would be. The third item I tried was the smoked Polish sausage. I will be honest, this was not my favorite. It was not bad, but the flavor on it I did not like as much as other Polish places I've tried. I definitely want to go back and try their cabbage and noodles and pigs in a blanket. They also have desserts that I will have to try as well. They do sell sandwiches, Chicago style hotdogs, and have a small grocery store inside.

However, this place is kind of tucked away so it wasn't busy at all in the afternoon. The outside of the building just says Deli. If you like Polish food, you'll love it here. I read some people exaggerating about the wait times. It does not take long for them to help you. Like Jewel or Mariano's, they're not going to slice your meat in 10 seconds if that's what you're hoping for. Btw the staff was nice. I think the Karen's that complain about them being rude are not very cultured and only know American culture. I ordered the signature pastrami sandwich for $10.99 and it was a very generous portion size. She put a ton of meat in it. The pastrami wasn't tough, it was fresh and soft. Honestly, I had Katz's in NY and this was a really great pastrami sandwich. I also got a large cannoli and meat pierogis. The cannoli was delicious. The pierogis were good but I like to have softer skin. The meat filling was fine but the outside was a bit too tough. I've been to a number of Polish restaurants and they usually make the skins very soft to cut. I would rate these pierogis like a 4. Overall, it's about a 4.5. Prices were very cheap. I got everything for $20. I will definitely return to try more items.

It's fast casual and you'll see some kiosks/tablets to order once you walk in. We made our selection and then didn't have to wait too long before our freshly fried chicken sandos and fries were ready. I ordered a milk tea and a mini cup of chai just because I wanted to try everything. This place has five stars because of how freshly fried the food was. There is nothing better than biting into a fried chicken sandwich and the released steam is almost hazardous. I have a high heat tolerance, and this sort of thing cannot be re-created at home. Alas, we do not have an industrial deep fryer. We also ordered some fried pickles that came with a sauce. It's hard to hate something so delicious when it's deep fried, to be honest. The kitchen is all the way visible, with nothing to hide. A number of Doner roasters and fryers on the back wall, and through the glass all of the preparation bins were RIGHT THERE. It all looked superb and fresh. The billboard menu above was easy to read, although if you don't know what Bashka or Mansaf is, you're not going to find out anything there. The Gal behind the counter (at least on the day I was there) seemed to not have the best command of English, although she was most polite and professional. I had never heard of a "Puffy" Pita, so of course I swung with a "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita with Everything". They were making Falafels for another order, and they looked swell, so I piped an order of 3 as a side dish. Upon walking in, there was a cart that had an assortment of Middle-Eastern Pickles (Which I have a remarkable affinity for). When you order them, they hand you a clamshell and you return to the cart to "Pick your own". A perfect diversion while your food is prepared to order. There was a pile of fab-looking Baklavas in clamshells in the ordering window, and they were SO fab-looking I had to throw one in on my order. Well. I got in the car and HAD to try one of the Falafels while they were hot and crispy (Wife was driving). Need to say, these might have been the best Falafels I've ever had. Chock full of flavor, with a mighty crunch, and this was even without a dunk in the provided Tahini sauce. I savaged the entire order of 3 before we got home. The "Crispy Puffy Lamb Pita" was a handful, and it too, was a flavor extravaganza. I don't know exactly what constitutes a "Crispy Fluffy Pita", but this one was really delish. On another, later visit I had just a "Puffy Lamb Pita" which was notch below the Crispy morsel, but still yum. The Garlic and Pomegranate sauces on the side were tasty, but the CripsyPuffy really did not need any help in the flavor department. Wife had procured me a Hot Tender from "Fry The Coop" a few doors down from Hello Shawarma here, and I was dipping it in the Hello Shawarma sauces to the Chicken Tender's advantage. The Baklava was, as it turned out, not simply good, it was OUTSTANDING! Full disclosure, with the absence of Arak on my booze shelf, I substituted a nice glass of Ouzo on the rocks to quaff with my meal, and it was a perfect call So I'm throwing 5 for this fab chain, a fine mid-eastern meal indeed! MIKE'S WAY OR THE HIGHWAY…read more I've typically had great experiences at Jersey Mike's, but this one in Bolingbrook seems to be lacking. My preferred sub sandwich place is close to the house, and I come here at least several times a year. This one is on Weber Rd, across the street from Meijer, and in the same corner as Chili's / Oberweis. I have the JM rewards app, and for some reason the points rack up WAY faster than at other places (unlike those assholes at Jimmy John's). I've been able to redeem complimentary subs left & right, plus you get a free regular sammy on your birthday. They also offer double points days every once in a while, a nice perk. I'm a fan of the Jersey Shore favorite (#2), which comes with provolone, ham, and cappacuolo. I always ask for it prepared "Mike's way": onion, lettuce, tomato, olive oil, vinegar and dry spices like oregano. The red pepper relish is a MUST on any cold sub, it's an absolutely magical condiment. The chipotle cheesesteak (#43) with sliced steak, peppers, grilled onions and white American cheese is pretty decent. A regular is $9, not cheap, but not wildly overpriced either. Most cold subs range from $7-10, 'giant' versions are $14-16. Chips + drink are $4. There was a huge line around noon on 1/11/23, about a dozen people deep. Workers were doing their best -- it was all hands on deck -- but still was the longest I've ever had to wait at a JM, or any sub place for that matter. Things were fairly chaotic and more than a bit disorganized....there were loads of partially-made sandwiches stacked up by the slicer. Last trip here, I wasn't greeted or thanked, and they forgot my request for extra mayo (I got none at all). Not a problem, since I've got plenty of mayo at home, but I've never encountered an issue with missed toppings at any other Jersey Mike's location, so yeah. Could be better. * TL;DR * Between the rosemary parmesan bread and the pepper relish, I'm a Jersey Mike's fanboy for L-I-F-E. A subpar (hah! sub) couple of trips doesn't change my opinion of this chain that much. Even though the employees aren't super friendly and there's been intermittent issues, they'll still get my business going forward.

THE QUICK AND THE BREAD…read more Good ol' Jimmy John is speedy and seldom disappoints. Our local JJ's sits at the northeast corner of Boughton & Weber Rd, next to Dickey's BBQ and a nail salon. They're a great choice for lunch, although I've swung by here a couple times for dinner on my way home from work. My wife loves the combo ($10) that comes with chips, fountain drink, and choice of 'favorite' sandwich like the #12 Beach Club on sliced wheat. It's $1 less if you opt for an 'original' combo, but this restricts you to choosing from the #1-6 (e.g. Pepe, Big John, Vito, tuna, BLT). The dudes here have been so fast with the sandwich prep, I've barely finished paying at the register and they're handing me a completed order. Dang! I definitely appreciate the expediency, even if that means employees being a little curt. Friendliness only really matters to me when I'm being served at a sit-down restaurant. I'm that guy who asks for every topping/free condiment that's available, including extra mayo. It makes the sandwich a little sloppy, sure, but what can I say? If I'm paying for it, might as well get the most value for my money. Slap a "slippery when wet" sticker on that bad boy and send me on my merry way. * TL;DR * When it comes to cold subs, I have to give the edge to Jersey Mike's (also conveniently nearby) but with a bit of convincing from my partner I'd have no problem ordering from Jimmy John's again. 'Freaky Fast' is a very apt slogan, so if you're in a time crunch and need a quick bite, look no further. Download their mobile app and get a free sandwich just for signing up!
