He did some exterior…read moretuckpointing, matched brick 1947 brick for a slight exterior alteration, and fixed some interior cracking in plaster with concrete block underneath. Communication was great, David even called me to let me know he was going to be a half hour late. Fantatstic work. Would hire again.

And I called one other company for a second bid. David showed up in time for our appointment, and his explanation of the problem (80 year old mortar in our brick house was falling out). The previous owner had gotten some of it repaired. That mortar was failing, too. I was particularly concerned because one pillar that carries a heavy load was cracked so badly (see photo) that you could see daylight through it from top to bottom. David explained why it had failed, and how the repair work someone had done years ago made matters worse. His bid that was about the same price as the other firm, but his explanation -- and the bid itself -- were so clear that D. Masonry was my obvious choice. He provided me with proof of insurance, too, a request the other company ignored. They lived up to my high expectations. Watching them work, I realized that tuck pointing is a highly skilled craft, practically an art form. They took the time to mix and try a range of mortar colors. With their help, we selected the one they advised. Now that the new mortar has completely dried, I can see it is a perfect color match. The pillar I was so nervous about? They elaborately jacked up and stabilized things, so they could remove the pillar, which they disassembled completely, laying out all the bricks (with all the old mortar removed), so they could put them back exactly as they were, only sturdy now, and good as new. Masonry repairs -- done well -- simply disappear when the work is done, right? As long as I own this house, my gratitude for this job-well-done will live on.

Their quote was practically half that of groundworks and thrasher because the big guys won't do small jobs. Although, they were able to successfully raise my sinking steps the fill holes are quite apparent and unsightly.

Aurora, CO 4/16/24 When they backfilled my house 25 years ago, there was so much of a gap between…read morethe back patio slab and dirt, that bunnies have always gotten in on the holes on the sides, and lived there and raised their young. Sadly, with the rains from spring 2023, my back patio, and steps to my back door began to crack in 2023-2024. I had Trevor from AAA Concrete Raising come out and take a look, around April 4th. (After I had Colorado Structural Repair come out and assure me that it was not severe enough that I needed to buy $25k worth of piers to stabilize the house.) So he explained the situation, explained what they would do, and gave me a bid for $1,500 - $2,500 to correctly backfill the entire length of the back of my porch/house. The reason there was a window, is because they wouldn't know until they started filling the voids, how much fill they would need. (They carry enough on their truck to do little jobs and huge jobs.) I thought AAA wouldn't get to me for about 3 weeks, but they had a cancellation for today (it's been less than 2 weeks), and asked if they could come out tomorrow. Sure! Trevor and his team arrived at about 8am and drilled the holes all along the length of the back of the house (every few feet), through the concrete. Then they used the hose to pipe the stuff into the west-most hole. As soon as they could see it making its way to the next hole over, they would stop that hole, and go onto the next. They did this with all 16 holes. In the end it took about 4 yards to fill every void on the north side of my house (where the cement patio is.) Then they got to work filling the tops of the holes to make it flush with the patio, and carefully using a sponge soaked in water, wiped around the top, to clear away any debris around the hole's "plug." They used their power washer to clean up the whole patio, and also any fill that got on the driveway/street. (They used a shovel first to get up what they could that way.) Whole job took 3 men 3 hours, and I was charged $2,320, which I thought was low for the many feet over which they had to backfill. Overall, I think it looks great, and I feel confident now that we've done what we could to prevent my patio from sinking down further. Thanks Trevor and guys! I've already had one neighbor over to look at the job, and AAA only left 2 hours ago!
