ritical: Professionalism, Punctuality, Value I saw the good reviews and thought this must be the place for me, we needed old thick deck protector removed, the deck re -stained. day one, came out stayed 1 hour and left, day 2 came out stayed 1/2 and left, day 3 came out stayed 45 minutes and left. My husband was going away for a week, so I had him tell them not to worry about us until he was back in town. He returned home and they came out. sanded without covering any of our patio furniture, it was everywhere, stuck in our screen on our slider, most companies would have put plastic up and covered our furniture. Stain dripped through the steps on our concrete and was not cleaned up. Today they wanted me to Zelle them the other half of the $2,400.00 charged, I asked if I could get a bit of the stain for touch up, the lady who answers my e mails, Lindsey, informed me they provide a service they don't sell stain, (WOW), then she informed me if I did not leave a check under the mat today it could result in late charges or possibly a lien to my home. Now I looked back most of those good reviews were years ago. We used TSF to tear down an old fence and build a new one along a property line we share with a neighbor. I can honestly say that I was totally blown away by how good it came out, how quickly and easy the whole project went, and it was actually a really fair price too (much less than several other bids)! I'd been putting this project off because I wasn't looking forward to an experience one typically gets with contractors, but I shouldn't have! This experience proves that Ryan and his team are NOT your typical contractors, but more like a partner. The whole experience was painless and easy, and the job was done exactly within the time frame stated (a little quicker, actually), and the site was left clean - everyone was very careful with debris, which is good with my dog and daughter running around back there. In the past I've seen fence builds where the lines are not straight and the overall product is sloppy, but this came out so perfect! The fence is 100% perfectly straight and the grading and framing looks spot on (look at the pictures and judge for yourself)! Best of all, every component of the fence was built with screws - no nails anywhere. This is absolutely the way to go and will last so much longer. After re-hammering in pickets in my old fence over and over and over again, this is going to be so nice. I couldn't even get some other contractors to bid a job using screws, they all said using an air nailer was the same quality (it is NOT). And EVERY post was cemented in, which I learned was not the case with the original when it came out. The best recommendation I can possibly give a contractor is to say that I would use them again, and that I would recommend them to friends and family. First - the Good. Ryan and his team were pleasant to work with and responsive to email and phone. I had good advice from Ryan, and he gave me different options with his quoting. Once the deck and fence were done, I was happy with the result. It was quite a big job, as it involved dismantling the existing pergola and substantially rebuilding, as well as washing and staining the deck, and fence. Yes, I did have to get Ryan back to do touchups, but I expected this, and it is part of their follow-up if needed. The not so good was the process and length of time. Ryan had indicated that the job would take about a week - supposed to start on Monday 6/25 and be pretty much done that weekend, or maybe 1 day extra into the next week. It took more than double that duration. Crew actually started a day early, on Friday 6/22, and pressure washed and were back the following week. Each day for just 2-5 hours at most - with Ryan coming to work with the team on one of the days which was the only day the team was here for a substantial amount of time The team was off for a few days over the 4th July holidays - understandable - but I was left with the deck partially done (10 days after starting) - and their equipment just dropped anywhere - ladder was laid in the middle of my lawn, and the bits of the pergola - still with nails etc sticking out - lay on my lawn for about 2 weeks in total. To be honest, it seemed like the team was very much part-timers - and it was frustrating to see them pitch up at 11am, and be gone by 2pm - that sort of thing for the most part. But nice folks). Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic, but I had expected a professional team to be on-site and just get it done in the timeframe, maybe working 9am to 4pm, that sort of thing. It left me with 3 consecutive weekends when work was still being done. (there were no weather delays - e.g. rain). Some select other specifics: One of the pergola beams was split when it went up. I noticed it on the very first day. Ryan did replace it at their cost, but surely I should not have had to ask - they should have automatically seen and done it - it was pretty obvious. I had old worn lattice enclosing the front of the deck that I asked the team replace with the plastic lattice. They did a good job of that - and fitting it took about an hour or just a little more. They brought 8 pieces of lattice, didn't need one, and took it away. These lattice pieces sell for around $13 a piece at Lowes - so about $100 in materials was used.....I ended up paying around $400 for that part of the job. read more

I had Ryan come out and look at our Deck to give me an estimate. My husband and I were pleased with his recommendations and estimate. I contacted him & Lindsay to try to schedule the refinish, I had to send several messages before I received a reply. They scheduled my deck to be done beginning on 9 August, 2017. About 9pm on the 8th I realized that I had not received any information about what time to expect the crew, also it had been raining and I didn't know if they would need to reschedule so I sent an email as it was so late. I immediately received an auto reply stating that they were out of town and were not going to have good communication services until they returned and would contact customers then. How odd, for a business to leave scheduled customers hanging. I did eventually receive a reply from Lindsay stating that they needed to reschedule because of the rain. They had gone on vacation and had left the crew working, they had spoken to the crew and needed to reschedule. They didn't contact customers because they were in an RV and didn't have reliable cell/email service. It is strange they could communicate with the crew but not customers. When I brought this up, they suggested that I find another company to work with. I agreed. read more

We found Superior Finish by looking at Yelp and seeing their very good reviews. It is always difficult to hire a contractor without a personal reference but Yelp reviews have proven very helpful. It worked out great with Superior Finish. Ryan promptly came to our house, provided good feedback on the deck and quoted a reasonable price. They started the project about a month earlier than originally quoted which was nice as well. The team, led by Phil, thoroughly sanded a redwood deck that had too many prior coats of paint and then waited for the deck to fully dry from the rains rather than rushing it.
