I have been wanting to try this place out ever since they opened a Walnut Creek location. Prices are reasonable for baked goods. I tried the spinach feta croissant and bought a few cookies as well. The peanut butter chocolate chip cookie was delicious. I also got the chocolate espresso cookie which had the really good coffee flavor. Loved the fact that they sell the day old pastries at a discounted price. I was able to pick up some chocolate croissants and scones! I'll be back to try some other cookies and bread. read more

Maybe my rating is low because I had such high expectations but man these pastries were average to below average. My morning bun was super lopsided and was missing the core base with the caramélized cinnamon sugar goodness, and the chocolate croissant had a bar or two of very hard chocolate encased in what tasted like a day old croissant. Actually both tasted day old--a little dried out and no buttery flaky moistness. And for them to sell such a terribly formed morning bun is horrible service--no quality control! Service was not friendly at all. The English muffins may be tasty but also quite greasy. Overall it would take a lot to make me want to come back and wait in any sort of line for these overpriced items. I wasn't expecting this place to be as good as it was when I came in, to be completely honest. But it truly proved me wrong! Such unique and delicious combinations for their menu! The peach prosciutto I ordered was incredibly tasty. A great, warm breakfast. Employees were also extremely kind and friendly! I spilled a whole glass of water (sorry!) and there was no fuss about it at all, they were very happy to help. The dude who served our table even gave me a new knife when he noticed what I ordered so that I could cut my toast easier. A small gesture, but it meant a lot! Showed that he paid attention & was looking for ways to make the meal better. Lady at the counter also helped me choose what dessert to order. Overall, great people here. The look & location of the place was what made me hesitant as I'm no stranger to over-priced, gentrified restaurants in this city, but I quite enjoy the unique look of this place. DELICIOUS! I stopped by right after they opened on a Friday. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the establishment is: dark wood with green accents. The line was about 4 people long-not bad at all. My order was taken in under 5 minutes. I ordered a cup of coffee, 3 6-packs of English muffins, and the Original breakfast sandwich. The 3 packs of muffins and coffee were ready right away. The sandwich took about 8-10 minutes. The first word in this post describes exactly how both the muffins and the sandwich tasted! I had a positive experience here. Plenty of sitting space indoors as well as an outdoor patio. The staff was welcoming and took time to explaining about the delicious baked goods they offered. I had the chicken Waldorf sandwich, the banana muffin, a mini baguette, and an English muffin. The sandwich had a wonderful balance of fresh fruit and veggies, a crunchy and buttery croissant filled with creamy chicken salad. It was so nice that they toasted and warmed up the croissant on a cold rainy day. I liked the banana bread. I toasted the English muffin the next day, put some butter, turned it into an avocado toast, and it was a very satisfying breakfast. I've been waiting so long for Model Bakery to open this Walnut Creek location. When I am planning a trip up through Napa, I always pre-order a pack of English muffins for pick up. It's nice to have them close to home, so that I can get them whenever I want. They only recently opened and the lines are long and it was worth the wait. We got a pack of English muffins, a pecan apricot scone, a breakfast sandwich, and two chocolate cookies. Everything was delicious. The chocolate cookies are probably the best I've ever had. I had been to this location about 3x now and it is pretty nice not having to go to Napa area for their Signature English Muffins. The Curatado and English muffin is my new go to "breakfast" on the run. I like the Chocolate cookie and the jam preserve Make sure to ask for it and butter , since they don't provide it unless you ask. The line is a bit long depending on what time you show up. The earlier the better since a lot of the baked good disappear quickly. There latter late lunch after 1pm the line was minimal and they have the self kiosk up and working if you wanted to be in and out quickly. Loved this place as a bakery. I've gone to their location in Napa, which was very, very small and honestly not that in inviting. The layout here gives you the restaurant feel but still gives you the ability to see the baked goods. The staff was very knowledgeable And would answer your questions in layman terms. They have a kiosk at the door so you don't have to wait in the line if you know what you want. Baked goods arereally good. I got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant, which was buttery. The sausage was also tasty and the cheese not overpowering. we shared a Cuban sandwich which was unique since it was also on a croissant which was pressed. A lot of flavor, but not the best Cuban sandwich although still very very hearty. The real winner was when my wife got, which was eggs Benedict on a freshly baked English muffin with creamy braise collard greens. That's the winner. I tried their soup of the day which was a Ukrainian borscht and it was delicious. The cashier who helped me was very friendly. Cute decor, but very limited seating inside - and 10 seats on their small patio (heads up: ceiling fans were running and no heaters in December). I Absolutely LOVE MODEL! But, for some apparent reason, this location is the ONLY store where my family and I have issues. Last month, ordered in house a-whole bunch of goodies from cookies to their wonderful muffins & breakfast sandwiches for family visiting from San Diego. Long story short, we arrived home WITHOUT the english muffins in the bag! Another incident was TODAY 06-18-2025! Ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and one of them had a piece of hair that wasn't even noticed until i removed the foil. This is totally unacceptable & sad. Was really intimidated at first because the line opening weekend was bananas. It was more relaxed going on a week day. The line appears long because the ordering counter is close to the entrance so that's why people spill out. They have an electronic ordering kiosk so I think that will cut down on wait times going forward. I picked up the breakfast sandwich which is made with their famous English muffin. Really lovely. Enjoyed the Canadian bacon and not packed too large to eat. I also picked up a six pack of muffins for home, cookies and a ham and cheese croissant. The interior is really nicely decorated and you can probably stay and hang for a bit with friends or family. On the main drag so parking can be tough during the day. All the staff was friendly and helpful. This will be worked into my regular local rotation. read more

We've been waiting for this location to open since we knew Model Bakery was coming to Walnut Creek! We've known of Model Bakery for years and always start our wine tasting days in Napa Valley with a breakfast sandwich from their St Helena location. The English Muffins are THAT GOOD. But everything else we've tried there has also been fantastic ! They are so worth it - I was never a fan of English muffins until I had them from Model Bakery - so nice that the Walnut Creek location doesn't disappoint!!! Our experience at the Walnut Creek location was nothing short of amazing! They did a great job with the space and the service was great even on their first day. Yes it was slow with a wait but to be expected with a new location and with model bakery!! The wait was worth it. We were happy to find that the menu was different with exciting additions like a smash burger! The smash burger was surprisingly great (photo doesn't do it justice)! With my fiancé and I living so close by, we anticipate we will be there every weekend! read more

The ambiance was warm, tasteful and like stepping into what appeared to be an Irish pub, but with a quiet, sophisticated air of polish and not a loud obnoxious person anywhere ! I tried Model in St Helena. I bought the famous English muffins. It was so worth it. They live up to the hype.

I'm never disappointed in the food. But the coffee was undrinkable. It tasted sharp and sour. It seemed the carafe of cream/milk had "turned". The staff graciously provided me a fresh cup of coffee. But even with fresh milk it tasted sharp and bitter. Also undrinkable. They said they are trying beans from Morocco. But I suspect it's not the roasting, it's bad beans. Ugh. read more

I had been trying to stop by this place for a while. So finally we did after our walk through the farmers market and weekly shopping. We stop by the model bakery no too busy as it is normally during the week which it's nice after a Sunday stroll. So the what how it works is you order first pick a place to seat and then someone will bring your food but not your drinks We order smoked salmon to be more clear of what you are ordering is "smoked salmon lox, capers. pouched egg cover with Hollandaise sauce in half of an English muffin" if you order a double then you get the other half of the muffin with the lox smoked salmon Breakfast cubano, most likely like I will call it the "panini" very buttery I believe from the croissant a bit greasy and had a few burned corners the green sauce was a nice touch We also order some drinks matcha latte, chai latte and almond latte which I order to go but they put them in their mugs. And we added a morning bund and a bear claw both very airy, buttery and dry very sad!! We sat outside in the barstool high table, the place needs a bit of cleaning you will see a bunch of crumbs in the tables and in the ground. The ambience is quite enough if you seat inside and regular noice if you seat outside which today was a nice day for it P.S. I forget to take photos of the food but I don't think I will come back to this place again read more

Hopefully they will work out the operational kinks in the future as this location just opened not long ago. However, the one star rating was not due to operational hiccups. About 2 weeks ago, I came into the WC store to buy four 6-count-bags of English Muffins, and at least one of the bags had visible mold all over. I notified an employee and they quickly replaced the bags with the mold, then cleared everything from the front display and brought them to the back. I was told they were just made yesterday, but i highly doubt it. The mold was very telling, plus the ones we brought home got moldy the very next day. We threw everything out and will not return to this location. Sad because we know how amazingly good the English Muffins are when fresh (thanks to the St. Helena and Napa locations), but serving old, moldy muffins (despite being represented as fresh) to your customers is never acceptable. I still recommend the St. Helena and Napa locations, just not Walnut Creek. read more

We've ordered from Model Bakery a few times off of Door Dash. The Classic Breakfast sandwich is really good. Today, we got the English muffin pack to make breakfast at home. Gorgeous and fluffy. The Apple butter horn was really delicious. Crisp flaky edges of the pastry with carmelized sugar and butter. The Chipolte Sandwich was disgusting. The bacon was not cooked and the bread is saturated in grease. My arteries starting clutching just looking at it. Really gross. They also forgot the apple butter horn and I had to go ask for it and then my seat was taken. I was a little sad as I had wanted to eat on site. The customer service gets 2 stars. They acted annoyed when I asked and passed the task to someone else who went and got it and threw it down on the counter. I was polite and didn't say anything but thank you. Their mistake cost me the loss of my seat and almost the loss of the butter horn (if I hadn't checked). Note to all of you...double check your order and don't order anything with bacon unless you like undercooked grease balls. read more

Apple butter horn was not good. It was soggy, heavy, and tasteless. It tasted a couple days old, like more than even one. If it was not a couple days old, then their pastry dough needs work. There are several bakeries in the surrounding area that do pastries much better. I was considering buying a loaf of bread. As luck would have it, they were giving out samples of a French bread. I tried a bite. It was not good. I threw away the last bit of the sample. If you're out shopping and want a light meal, give it a try. If you live in the area and are looking for a good bakery- pastry or bread- go elsewhere. read more
