My 14 y/o son is an avid lover of Mod Pizza. My family which inc myself, my hubby and my only child supports This Mod Pizza quite frequently. My son's school also does fund raisers with this branch. Today after summer class, my son once again requested Mod pizza. I drove him to this location, handed him a $20 bill and instructed him to place his order while I stay in the car to respond to some work stuff. A few minutes later, my son was walking toward the car seemingly upset. I asked him what happened, he said he was told by the lady that he has to wait in the car because he coughed. I was even further confused when he was handing me the money back and said she didnt want to charge him. My son isnt ill btw. Like I said he was just getting out of summer class and they wouldnt allow anyone with any symptoms in the class without negative covid testing. My son said he accidentally swallowed his saliva the wrong way when he was talking while ordering and caused him to cough. I went in and male attendant pointed me out to "Amanda". She states she is the store manager. I asked her what happened and her initial response was " he was coughing so I told him he had to wait outside and I didnt even charge him for his drink and pizza." When I told her that my son said he accidentally swallowed his saliva the wrong way and caused him to cough, "Amanda" started escalating her story, a typical "Karen" trait. She said that my son was coughing all over and it didnt sound like he accidentally swallowed his spit that it sounded like a bronchial cough. Then "Amanda" proceeded to say that " i have alot to handle, we are in the middle if a pandemic, what would these people in line say if they heard him coughing." My son was fully masked the whole time, and if anyone has ever swallowed the wrong way you would know that it doesnt clear up by a little cough, it usually is deep and takes several coughing up to clear it. Im not sure what "Amanda" means by "bronchial cough" ? Coughing is a forceful hacking to release air or irritation from throat or airway. Airway is your bronchial tubes therefore cough is "bronchial." She again repeated that we are in the middle of a pandemic. So typical "Karen" behavior where a situation is told in a much bigger scale just to justify their targeting behavior. Again my son was fully masked, not sick, never again coughed our whole drive home. We followed the rule of the restaurant, he was fully masked the whole time. I give him sanitizing gel before he gets out of the car and when he comes back in. Are we in a pandemic, yes absolutely we are. But when a person tells you they arent sick that they just swallowed the wrong way, the right thing to do is to believe them. The law does not even allow you to discriminate against people that cant have mask on because of medical issues. The male attendant was very kind btw (sorry I didnt catch your name). So such a disappointing encounter and I feel bad for my son because essentially "Amanda" was calling him a liar. Oh and I insisted on paying for my son's food. read more

Gentrification on the way? Vallejo starting to get pretty damn decent quality food. What's next floods earthquakes tidal waves? I got to say the pizzas are hella bomb. Get all the toppings you want. Gain another couple thousand calories in one go if that's your mission. So food is an A. Atmosphere is Chill, lines sometimes really long. Employees are cool yet smoking too much weed before the job and forgetting to make food or what goes on the food tends to be a major issue. I was excited when I heard vallejo was getting a mod pizza. I had been to a few other locations and was impressed. Such a great concept! Delicious and great price. However, the Vallejo location is lacking. My boyfriend hadn't tried it yet so I was excited to take him for lunch the weekend it opened. The staff making the pizzas were pretty clueless. I was patient and understanding and considerate to the fact that this is a brand new location. They didn't know all the ingredients to a Tristan. Thats fine. Look it up. But not knowing what pink sauce is? It's common sense. Red + white = pink. Still, I was patient. They forgot the finishing sauce too, pesto. Still I was patient. Second visit was an online order. I had ordered well in advance (30min). I was even 10 minutes late picking up. The older woman that is at the pick up counter was not very hospitable. I asked if my order was ready and she had an attitude! Like I was intruding by simply asking a question! She told me my pizzas had just gone into the oven. I thought to myself what in the heck is the point of ordering online with a set pick up time then!? But, I was patient. They were still clueless as to what ingredients go on what pizzas. Ok. I'm still going to give them the benefit of the doubt. But when the order is placed online with full written detail and a topping is forgotten, I'm not going to be happy. Yet still, I have them a pass. Even with the crappy service I received. Third visit, the staff still has no clue what toppings go on a specific pizza. They forgot that my pizza has a finishing sauce. Service was good but the lack of knowledge is just frustrating. There was another family sitting across from us that had 2 entire pizzas missing from their order! Vallejo is seriously lacking in the restaurant/eatery department and I was finally happy we were getting a Mod Pizza. But I have not been back since and not sure if I can muster up spending anymore money at that location. Vallejo Mod Pizza- step your game up! Retrain, restructure, somethin! I've always traveled out of my city for better quality service and food. Looks like I'll have to keep patronizing Napa and neighboring cities that actually care about their quality of service! read more

This review is based upon my experience at MOD a few weeks after their opening. I am giving three stars for my overall experience, not the pizza itself. Service - 2/5. Pizza - 4/5. From door to order it took 1 hour! Granted there was a pretty long line on a Tuesday night, but waiting an hour for a do it yourself pizza is a little much for me. The staff seemed flustered with the amount of customers who came in and I could tell they are still working out the kinks. Also, they ran out of dough and were forced to turn people away. Def not a good look for a new restaurant. As for the pizza, it was good! Just took a while to finally get the pizza I'd been craving. I hope that MOD will get their personel issues sorted out. I'd hate to see a place like this fail to thrive in Vallejo. read more

This Mod pizza is the best Mod pizza. There are a number we have been to, but this one is by far our favorite. It's always clean when you enter even though it's right next to a busy theater and has heavy foot traffic. If you're lucky you'll have a pizza tech named Natalie or Isabel, they are hard working and fun to talk to. If you're lucky, at the counter you'll get Melvin. This dude is on the ball. More of our favorite Modders include Maliyah , Jeremiah, Kayla and Lauire. I just got home from this place and immediately started writing this review (after instagraming my pics of course haha). Let me just say it plain and simple: Go. Here. This place is amazing for multiple reasons that I will list out for you. Service - First and foremost their staff is incredibly efficient, polite, friendly, and above exceptional. The young lady who worked on my order was thanking the line for their patience, as she was speedily completing ny order while also being attentive to my requests. My friend was treated well, and we were all very impressed by Wesley who was so friendly and responsive to our feedback about the store. We left him a big tip because that was the first time we were treated so well by a restaurant on our first visit. If there's any reason alone to come to Mod Pizza, it defintely has to be for the amazing customer service. Other great aspects of Mod Pizza Vallejo is of course the variety in toppings. I personally LOVE the roasted garlic, cauliflower, and broccoli. The music is poppin' too! With a mix of old school hip hop and alternative music, it provides a comfortable atmosphere to hang out and laugh with friends. Overall, my friends and I are glad that we checked this place out tonight. To us, it seems like its gonna be our own "Central Perk" and we're defintely gonna keep coming back! read more

Omg I was so excited to eat my pizza. My first time trying to have the non dairy cheese. I took my first three bites and about to do my next one and what did I find??? A long hair!!! Disgusting!!! I love the Mod Pizza in Pinole and Napa, so I was thrilled when I saw that they were opening a Mod in Vallejo. It's basically the Chipotle version of pizza where you tell them what toppings you want on your pizza for no extra charge. The first time I came with my husband to this location, they didn't cook my husband's pizza thoroughly that some of the cheese did not even melt. We came again tonight because I had pizza cravings and we thought we would give it another chance since it had just opened. The line was pretty long and we stood in line for a good 30 minutes. From what I could see, there were 4 people working the pizza line. When we got up to the pizza bar, the female employee was nice and straightforward and asked what we wanted and the sauces. She started coughing but she was kind enough to cover her mouth and leave to the back. The next person in the pizza line got sent on break so there was a good while we had to wait for someone else to come finish our pizzas since they had to rewatch their hands. Good hygiene and contamination care though. I could tell the people in line were getting restless. By the time we sat down, the line was to the door. I never had to wait a good 45 minutes from stepping into a Mod Pizza establishment to getting my cooked pizza in my hand. Maybe it's because the employees are still new and this store is also new but ehhhhh. Rather stick to the Napa or Pinole store. We waited a while to try MOD Pizza because they were way too busy when they first opened. Finally tried it last night and the whole family loved it. I'm pretty particular about my pizza being from NYC, and MOD satisfied my craving. Everyone that helped us was great! Service was top notch from ordering the pizzas, paying and getting our cooked pizzas. The ingredients were fresh and the crust was good, which really surprised me. We had 3 pizzas and one we ordered on a thick crust just in case the regular was too thin. We actually liked the regular crust better because the double was way too doughy. The salads were also good, but one gripe we had was the MOD size bowl was only filled up half way. That won't keep us away though. We will be back to try out their other classics. read more

My first time here and I was very pleased. I ordered a mini pizza and they made it CUSTOM for me! I've always found if ordering pizza I always plan to wait awhile. Not so!!! My little pizza as ready in 10 or 15 minutes and it was so so tasty. Loving this new casual pizza option in Vallejo. Today we made a second visit for take-out. The online ordering process was pretty easy but my daughter had to wait an extra half hour when she went to pick them up. She was very unhappy with the lack of attentiveness the staff gave in the store and suspected our pizzas had been ready earlier but were left sitting until she had to inquire a second time about whether they were ready. The pizzas were only lukewarm when she finally got back but heated back up nicely in the conventional oven. And surprisingly the pizzas were excellent! Food: I've been to a version of this place called Rev pizza, but this place is a whole lot better with more toppings. Literally can put anything on it if it's displayed. They even have a gluten free crust! Service: We have a big order, 6 pizzas for 6 people, 7 if you include the kids size. I can't say we had the most complicated, but it was a lot. I totally love this pizza place! (Which says a lot since I'm not a big pizza person) having said that I come in here once a week at least. Reason being is that they have an excellent pizza! It taste very high end, but really awesomely priced! The crust is crunchy and thin plus the ingredients are really top notch! Everyone who works there provides excellent customer service too. Sometimes there is a bit of a long wait during rush hours such as lunch and dinner, but that's to be expected. However, The manager I think her name is Alex, has a really good system in place so that customers are being served as efficiently as possible. Everyone always has a smile on their face, clean workstations, freshly chopped and prepped items! I come in there at least once a week and everyone remembers who I am which makes me feel good to know that they really make an effort to connect with their customers. :) MOD is in the old Pasta Pomodoro restaurant which I use to go to a lot and I can say I'm actually really happy with the switch. I hope they stay here for years to come! Def go get some pizza here you'll love it! Btw my pizza::(in case you'd like to try it) The Dillion James BUT I add pesto, crushed garlic, basil & cilantro to the base. Then after the cheese I add pepperoni, more basil & seal it in with mozzarella cheese. Then pesto drizzle over top after it comes out of the oven. If you get it call it the Christina LoL TIP:::they cut your pizza into 4's which is wayyy to big for me so I ask them to cut it into 6 which they happily do. I am so bummed. I've been to plenty of mods and this one being new and so close to home, I was excited to head here. We've ordered to go plenty of times, and had no real issue, but we had an hour to kill so we thought we'd sit for dinner. If only that was enough time. We stood in line for 10 minutes, and when the line didn't budge, we ordered online and sat down. Once our order time came around (30 min later) I stood at the pickup area to note that our pies were simply sitting with the other 30 Uncooked pies next to the oven. Oh man. At this point we've been at Mod for 40 minutes. I sat down and figured 10 more minutes, it'd be ready, we could leave. No time to scarf it down in store, but at least we wouldn't be missing our movie. 15 more minutes and they are done. However the person handling the oven was struggling to figure out who's pies went in which box. They sat on the counter for 10 minutes until I said please just let me leave, I've been here an hour, it's 25 minutes past my pickup time, please let me leave. I showed her which pizzas were mine and asked her please just put them in any box so I can go. Then I realized my husbands salad was not complete. She said I had to pick it up at the register. I told the cashier my mobile order has a salad and I'm waiting to leave. Can you plz get that. He sat with the bowl half full staring at it and then just left it. After 5 more minutes I asked can I please just go. He says we don't have all the ingredients. I asked if he could get them. He said he didn't know when they would be pulling them from the fridge and could I wait? I said no just give me whatever you have and let me leave. Bottom line, here's what I ordered: Two mini mods pepperoni. One Mod pizza salad. Never got the salad part. They didn't know how to do that. One salad. A half of the salad. DO NOT GO HERE FOR DINNER ON THE WEEKEND. EVER. I'd hope lunch is better, but it's doubtful. These people don't get the concept of running a restaurant and no one has any kind of hustle. Oh my goodness, MOD pizza is AMAZINGLY good. We visited the new Vallejo location Saturday and we just loved it. It's located in the shopping center right off Admiral Callaghan and Gateway Plaza, right by Petsco and in the same parking lot as the movie theater. You walk-in and you are hit immediately by loud music and a rambunctious greeting from staff behind the counter. The set-up is simple, you get a small pizza for about $8.50 with UNLIMITED toppings of your choosing!!!! The size of the pizza is great...they cut it in 4 pieces but you could easily make it 6-8 slices and it could feed 2 people no problem. The toppings range from chicken to roasted peppers to asiago to pesto and every basic in between. They also have salads with again UNLIMITED fixings. It's like Subway, you stand there while they build the pizza in front of you. Just love it! They do sell a couple of appetizer things like garlic bread strips for about $3. The pizza crust is so freakin' perfect. We went with the standard crust and it was thin and crispy and the sauce was just right, tangy with just a touch of sweetness. Their house made lemonade was also excellent. Just a tip, it can be overwhelming when you are ordering because there are so many toppings to choose from so, if you can, try to grab one of their menu leaflet thingys while you're in line so you can kind of be ready when it's your turn. The prices are excellent, the food is outstanding, the service is good...what more could you ask for ! This is definitely our new favorite pizza place!!!! read more

First off, they have no sign to tell you where to pick up your online order so that was confusing. The employees were not paying attention so I had to wait to ask where to pick up my order. As for food, the pizza was not the best. They didn't have a lot of options like other customized pizza places. My two pizzas had very little toppings and looked pretty sad. Also, they didn't have much flavor. The crust, however, was pretty good and crispy. I noticed that employees do not wear uniforms, aprons, gloves, and hair nets. So, my elderly friend told me today that she wanted to take me Here for lunch - - she's an 88-year-old woman who works pretty painfully slow with a walker - - lots of energy, but definitely disabled. She had told me how much she enjoyed coming here and said she would treat me to my first time. When we came in the door there were about six people ahead of us, but there was only one and a half people making the pizzas so it took us a while to get to the front. As soon as it was her turn to be waited on, one of those 1-1/2 people said to my her, "I'll wait on you in a moment, I need to refill the trays" and proceeded to s-l-o-w-l-y restock the bins of toppings and ingredients. My friend can't really stay standing up for very long, and we'd already waited behind a bunch of other people who were getting their pizzas s-l-o-w-l-y assembled. Halfway thru this restocking process another employee finally came over and said she'd help her and we began moving along again. When our order was ready, I went up and got it from a cheerful friendly young man, then went and filled our drinks and sat down. The pizza was EVERYTHING my friend had promised: delicious! I was pleased to have gotten to design my own pizza and for it to turn out so well. The other things receded in importance to how good the food was. The marionberry lemonade was also really tasty and worth another cup (or two!). Friday nights my husband and I like to go out to celebrate the end of the week by just having a casual dinner somewhere, so I rationalize - - it's Friday night tonight, maybe they've got their B team on for lunch, maybe they'll have their act together tonight and it could be a pleasant experience as well as good food, and I could sure have another one of these pizzas tonight for dinner! When I left our table a little later to refill my drink, I noticed a really big spill of some kind of liquid near the trashcan but stretching across the walkway that you use to go over to the drink machine - - I went to the counter to tell someone's there was a mess that people could slip on, and the only person available was the same s-l-o-w restocker. When I told her about the big puddle, she squinted over at the area I pointed out and said "OK" and kept on doing what she was doing without making any indication that someone would clean it up, without telling anyone else that there was a mess that could land them in a lawsuit, nothing. When I went up to get more napkins several minutes later, the spill was still there, so I told the young man from home I got the pizzas - - He looked a little bit more concerned than she had, but we were on our way out, and it just wasn't worth it to turn around and see if anybody cared. I suggested to my husband when he got home that we should go and have pizza here tonight, that I thought he would really like the food although we had had a service issue when we were there earlier today. When we arrived we had six people (again) ahead of us, and it took quite some time (again) for us to be waited on - - two very earnest young men were building the pizzas, but I think they could've had more to keep the line moving. Finally, we had our pizzas made and they were set on the sideboard to wait in line for the oven, and we stood at the register waiting to be charged out. And stood. And stood. It was completely weird; not one person would look at us. We stood there with our money in her hands waiting for someone, anyone, to take the money for the food we had just ordered, but no one approached us, no one said "I'm sorry we're occupied but will be with you in a moment," no acknowledgement whatsoever. There was a couple just ahead of us who have been waiting even longer, and I noticed that they just walked away from the counter after a long while, because there was no indication anyone wanted or expected payment for their order, either. Finally, I just said loudly, "Doesn't anyone want to take my money?" A young woman who said her name was Mackenzie, who had clearly been trying to unsnarl some problem at the pizza oven for some time, came over and apologized for the delay, comped us our drinks and charged us out. She was very kind and sincere and clearly a bit harried; and as my husband observed, she didn't look any older than the other employees, but she was clearly the only ADULT on the crew.... As we walked to our table, there were no straws at all for the drinks, the drink lids were down to a total of four, every table had crumbs or wadded up napkins on it, and someone had spilled their root beer float onto the floor of the walkway at the end of one of the booths, and the puddle of melted ice cream spread farther the longer we were there. No one on the crew seemed to see or care. It was still there when we left. Finally our pizzas came out, and my husband agreed with me: the pizzas very -nearly- made up for the shortcomings.
