I tried this place with my Wife and kids last week, and I liked it so much, I brought my older Son three-days later! This place is legit! Great prices, friendly outgoing staff, quality ingredients. Definitely more "Habit" forming than the neighboring food establishments.
You walk in and everyone working is programmed to say some version of "welcome!" or "hello!" as you walk in the door. You wait in a short line, and then they explain how everything works if you have never been.
They start you off with either a mini (perfect for a light snack or a child {$5}), or a a regular 11" MOD Pizza ($7.95). Then you pick your sauce, or combination of sauces. Then they put some mozzarella on it (if you want) for good measure. Then they move you over to the meat section, with toppings like meatball, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, etc. Then come the veggies, like your normal onions, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes; as well as your not so normal veggies such as artichoke, brussell sprouts, among others. Then they move you over to the cheese area, where you get to choose from more mozzarella, gorgonzola, asiago, feta, it keeps going. Then you can put on some basil, or other seasonings they have there. Then they put it in the wood-burning oven. The whole place smells like fresh cooked pizza all day. When your pizza is done, they have a little flavor-station at the pick-up counter to add a little extra to your pie. You can get these on the side as well.
My kids both got plain cheese and pepperoni minis, which they loved, 'nuff said.
My Wife got a MOD Pizza with garlic, roasted red-peppers, onions, pepperoni, and sausage. She didn't get too adventurous with it. She liked her pizza enough. She just mentioned that she had had better. Boo.
I'm not saying its the best pizza on Earth myself, but as a whole the experience and taste and texture of the pizza is definitely up there. I got the same pie both times I went.
I got a MOD with a bit of pesto in the regular pizza sauce. Some mozzarella, then jalapeno chicken-sausage, spicy-Italian sausage, salami, and a sprinkle of bacon. Topped that with some onions and jalapenos. Then I went off on the cheese,...gorgonzola, asiago, feta; then a little more mozzarella so as not to singe the basil I had put on top. Some oregano and parmesan, and into the oven it went.....
My name was called 7 minutes or so later. They have even MORE tasty options at the pick-up counter. I got a little more pesto put on it, and I grabbed a side of Sri-rancha sauce (great combo), and dug in. EXCELLENT pie. The premium ingredients show a commitment to quality, and the texture is great. You enjoy this pizza without feeling bloated like a corpse floating in a lake.
When I brought my teenage Son a few days later, he LOVED this place! He got himself his own version of a supreme pizza, but with roasted red-peppers, and artichoke on it. He was feeling his pizza, he inhaled it in minutes!
The drinks here are off the hook! The bottled craft-sodas they have are really good. The Birch Beer is my favorite (my Daughters too), and the Ginger Ale is good too.
I am a big tea drinker, I get tea almost everywhere I go. I must say, this is some of the best tea I've ever had at a restaurant! It is a caramelized pear tea. SO GOOD! The black tea is pretty good as well.
Then there's the Lemonade. The regular lemonade is fantastic by itself. They also have a Marion Blackberry Lemonade that has big time flavor, but is a bit too sweet for me. What I have found is the best lemonade to be had here is a 50/50 blend of the regular lemonade, and the blackberry lemonade. It comes out perfect that way.
I will be coming back here whenever the opportunity arises . They should just call it BOMB Pizza. read more
