When I got there, there were about 3 people in front of me, and they took like 20 mins to get our order. Even when we were ordering, they were so slow at making the pizzas! The size is still 11-inch. I got the 11-inch because I wanted to pile my pizza up with toppings, but the 6-inch would have been filling for me. Next you choose your toppings. Get a bit of everything! Get your money's worth. They have some classic pizzas on the menu if you don't want to custom your pizza, but where's the fun in that? I asked for my pizza extra crispy because I like my pizza crunchy. Initially, I was scared they were going to burn it, but it came out great! Hot and crispy. Yummmm. It was about a 15 minute wait before my pizza was ready. When I went to pick up my pizza at the counter, they offer me some sauces on the side. I got pesto! The pizza was so good that I wanted to eat the whole thing. I was full after I had half, but somehow managed to stuff another quarter of the pizza into me. The staff is friendly and the pizza is good. My only concern is how some staff wear hairnets and others don't. While standing in line, I saw a staff member make several pizzas without a hairnet on. Thankfully a new staff member came out the back with a hairnet on and assisted us. I asked the manager why is that and she said the previous shift manager must not have enforced it but will speak with the staff member when they returned from lunch. The manager was very nice and receptive to my comments and agreed that no one wants hair in their food. Other than that, the pizza is consistently good and staff are always friendly. read more

I recently placed an order online at MOD Pizza in Pinole for a pickup. I ordered 2 MOD pizzas, which typically only take 15 minutes. Tonight they gave me an hour wait time. No big deal, since I knew ahead of time... I arrived at the Pinole location where I had my order placed, I went to the pick up counter and asked for my order, and the employee said it was going to be another 10 minutes. So I waited 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes, and my name was still not called. I went back up to the counter to ask how much longer it would be, as my order had now been 40 minutes late. They assured me it would only be about 5 more minutes. Another 15 minutes goes by, and again, I go up and ask how much longer it was going to be because I had been there for almost an hour and was going to be late. They apologized and said that, in fact, my order wasn't even in the oven yet. So I had to leave without my order. This was a waste of my gas, my time, and was a huge letdown for my autistic brother and goddaughter, whom I ordered the pizzas for. If an order isn't going to be ready until 2 hours after it's placed, so be it... but they should not be telling their customers that an order will be ready at a certain time, and then make them wait another HOUR after they come in to pick it up. AND... their employees certainly shouldn't be paying more attention to rearranging tickets and talking to customers more than they are paying attention to the pizzas in the oven, I'm sure that's why they were so behind. I even sent customer support a message about this situation, and all they said was that they would tell operations about the situation. Didn't offer me anything to make it right, didn't even seem like they cared. I will seriously re-think ever going back to a MOD pizza ever again after this experience. read more

It's been awhile since my family and I have been here because of how nasty it's gotten! The quality of the food has gone down since they've first opened to now. However since it's been almost a year since we have last been here, we decided to try it again thinking that things may have gotten better. But boy was I wrong. I understand things are hard with Covid and now we are fully opened again. But cmon. This is a picture of the floor when I went it's 9:45pm when they close at 11! Someone was already cleaning the counter, and when i say cleaning i mean the cleaning just included a wet rag, no kind of cleaning solution or anything. Where do you go when you're in the mood for a pizza at 930pm? MOD of course! I wish I was in NY for a thin slice of pizza! Just as good as NY is MOD pizza! I love how I can customize my own pizza (yeesss to pineapple!!) or select one of their signature ones. One thing I see beneficial about this pandemic is how efficient everything seems to be running. I ordered online and was able to pick up my pizza in 15mins!! Boom - it was that quick!!! While I love me some carbs, I got the cauliflower crust this time. Talk about amazing option! I always order via the app for pickup, so this review does not apply to dining in the restaurant. The last few app orders have just not gone well. They've been ready long after the pickup time posted on the app. My order tonight, consisting of four pizzas and a free cake, was stolen off their mobile order shelf! They had to make the whole order over, which is of course appreciated, but I was forced to wait for another twenty minutes, effectively killing the pizza night vibe at home while the fam waited in limbo. I was always dubious about the Pinole mobile order shelf and the honor system, and how it's not really monitored once the pizzas are shelved and the only employee nearby is the pizza chef who's always busy shifting pizzas in the oven, and cutting and boxing them. Pizza seems way more tempting than the Starbucks mobile orders sitting on their counter, for example. Plus, Pinole as a town/city is kinda going downhill these days. Not the quaint place it once was. The restaurant needs to review the prep and cook times again so folks don't have to wait when they arrive at the time posted in the app, and they definitely need to rethink their mobile order shelf. I get they're really busy - especially with inflation making their pizza a relatively good deal - and the staff is always nice and accommodating, but their formula is obviously not working anymore at this location. Logically, they should adapt, revise, and transform to better serve customers. I hope they work it out because I like their food. read more

The pizza was ok. I ordered a thick crust and the crust was surprisingly thin. The crust was thick at the edges witch doesn't really count. Notice the pictures I posted that the crust is white and barely cooked and not blackened like many other peoples pictures posted. There was nothing impressive with the taste. It did not taste bad. I ordered through the app and had a horrible experience. A perk for first time app users get a optional cake but the app would just say not available even though it would also say the reward was available. The app did not say DoorDash was used as delivery until after the order was place. I always wanted to give them a try and so I finally did. I will not be returning as a customer. I ordered the Mega Dough Lucy Sunshine with added sausage and Canadian Bacon as well as an Oreo milkshake and vanilla milkshake . I sent my husband to pick it up. Shortly after his arrival I started getting texts from him due to some complications. They said they had no milkshakes. What? But I ordered it online. When he got back home, he reiterated that they did not have milkshakes and that the cashier guy had said that he could replace the milkshakes with two large fountain drinks, saying they were the same price. I checked online - um, no they're not. We opened the pizza box to see what we got. Maybe the pizza would at least be good? Um - no, not really. Absolutely no trace of red sauce and it just looked kind of sad, to be honest. And thick crust? Sure, if thick meant a centimeter. This was our first time to this location and it was disappointing - they said they would refund the order, but we have to call them back to follow through with that. Negative points for their trying to replace the milkshakes with the sodas and claiming that they are the same price, as well as a disappointing pizza that lacked flavor and red sauce. I don't write poor reviews for businesses, but this one takes the cake - or in this case, the pie. I want to give this a higher rating but this is really difficult to categorize. This place is like a sandwich shop and also similar to how Chipotle works. They start with a crust (the size of two that you can choose) and you tell them which sauce, cheese, and other ingredients you want. Apparently, the price is $5.27 for a mini, which is the size of an appetizer. The price was the same for each of the pizzas we ordered, even though we didn't have the same ingredients. I would assume that any number of ingredients get the same price. Doesn't that sound great? As friendly as they were, they barely put anything on the pizza--even sauce was very, very skimpy. They had a variety of drinks, including decent iced tea, and Marion Blackberry Lemonade. Nothing was really wrong, but we left hungry. It was good, but there wasn't enough. $7.99 for a good amount of toppings and somewhat thicker crust would have been appreciated. We could have got the bigger crust but it wouldn't have helped skimpy portions. If you go to Carl's Jr. for a burger, there is a lot of food, and you don't even need fries. In town yesterday to find that there was a MOD pizza here. What could I do? It's pretty cheap and it's pretty tasty plus the kids I was with have never tried it before. Options upon options just like the one in Brentwood. Choose what kind of meat you want, what kind of veggies you want, what kind of cheese you want, what kind of sauce you want, etc. Don't want to deal with bread? Make your own salad. There are three different sizes to choose from. And if you can't make up your mind, there are pizzas with great names like the Tristan, that have set ingredients in it. Drinks? Pffff. Water. Or go for a soda. OR get yourself a milkshake. I went for the Oreo milkshake. Vanilla with cookies or chocolate with cookies? There's an option for that?! I find that this location is much better than the Brentwood one. The service was top class. Nice people, warm attitudes, and apt knowledge of their food. Speaking of which, the toppings looked a bit fresher, and they added a good serving with me only asking for one extra serving instead of multiple times in Brentwood. Oooh, I went through the line quicker. The taste was better too. It wasn't greasy, it wasn't too crunchy, and it hit the spot. I think I found the right amount of toppings mixed in. I got pesto sauce and some red sauce to start it off. Jalapeños (super spicy) and some spinach. Sausage was added. The regular kind. I was a little hesitant to add the other kinds. I think my family eats here almost every week (so guilty). I didn't understand the concept when I first came here, but it's basically a Subway/Chipotle style pizza joint. There are menu combinations on the wall, but you basically build your own pizza with whatever sauces and AS MANY toppings as you want. Prices are only determined by the size you get (mini, MOD and mega). Mini is good for a kid, MOD for a really hungry adult and mega for two adults. The crust is thin and ingredients pretty fresh. If you're a first timer and still don't get the system, just ask. All the employees are pretty cool and friendly. One thing I've never seen is the pizza salad item. It's a salad (still your choice of greens and mix-ins) on top of a MOD crust. If you get in, I'd recommend putting pesto and garlic on the crust before they bake it. Yum! They also offer their own lemonades and ice teas, in addition to the standard fountain sodas. My hubby loves the caramelized pear iced tea, and I usually go for the berry lemonade. Mod Pizza seems to be everywhere. The chance to join a local lunch meetup group finally was the motivation to come here. Even though most reviewers seem to like the pizza I expected to hate it; however, surprise I really enjoyed my lunch. No matter how many toppings you have on your pizza the price is the same. There are quite a few selections, not as much as many places have, but they do have my favorites: anchovies, garlic, pepperoni and olives. The thin pizza crust is perfect. The line moves quickly, by the time I got to the register it was almost ready. Until recently the pizza parlor nearer to me offered American Airline Dine miles and I do like their pizza more than Mod, but I have added them to my pizza rotation list. read more

I liked it! Landed from Los Angeles, jumped on the Bart, got picked up by Hubbers at my stop and drove straight here. We were both newbies, so we took our time with the menu. Wasn't busy at all - we might have just missed the dinner rush. We both agreed on the garlic twists and a bowl of the chicken cesar salad. Hubbers got the mad dog and tweaked it the way he wanted it. I built my own: garlic rub with red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, bacon, ground beef, salami, Canadian bacon, artichokes, red onions, mushrooms, black olives, roasted garlic, anchovies. I had mine finished with pesto drizzle. Hubbers topped his with some self-served condiments and spices. To-go, please?! Got home and food was pretty hot still. Packaging was pretty good, they really held everything well. The garlic twists are nothing more than their pizza dough rubbed with fresh crushed garlic, oil and seasoning. Threw it in the oven for a quick bake - just long enough to get that crisp. Came with a side of ranch. The dressing on the Caesar salad was surprisingly good! I expected it to be just "okay" but it was pretty kick-ass! The chicken was moist and flavorful. The croutons did the job of being good sidekicks. I would highly recommend this! (NOTE: I took some anchovies off my pizza and added it here and made it better! Would recommend having that added if anchovies are your thing.) My pizza - with as many toppings as it had - was also cooked well. The crust was thin and crispy through and through. All the toppings complimented each other quite well (for MY taste, at least.) Staff goofed around a bit with each other while prepping our orders, but they got the job done. They didn't lag on anything - as goofy as they were, they were pretty attentive and friendly. Service is slow and perhaps it's because they were short staffed? They are pretty good at spreading the toppings evenly, but I wish they put the sauces towards the outer side of dough rather than focusing on the center. Don't limit yourself when you come here, your choices are limitless. You can add more than 1 sauce and you have an assortment of toppings!!! After they bake the pizza, you can choose a sauce to drizzle on top of the pizza! Sir-ancha is THE ONE! I love thin crust and their was crunchy goodness!
